    Wonderful band

Great atmosphere and music. Band is probably only one playing soft bomb ass jazz. Love the home made tamales here too.

Needed a late night snack after drinking so came here. Pizza and fries hit the spot or maybe I was just super hungry. The crawfish mini pies were missing the crawfish and or crawfish flavor. Definitely wasn't my fav and wouldn't order it again. Had a divey bar vibe.

Favela is one of the numerous venues on Frenchmen St where you can hear live music. This is a must-stop if you are in the area. If you are a beer drinker the beers are relatively inexpensive any mixed drink beyond well is expensive. This is true everywhere in the area. We visited twice and the bands were much different, which is cool. One night there was an upbeat jazz band with a great frontman. The band on our next visit was an instrumental jazz band that just killed it. I imagine later in the evening it's standing room only but we had no problem getting a table, on both visits. As others have mentioned the single bathroom can get a tad sporty as the night progresses. What is cool about Frenchmen St is that you can stand outside listen to the band and decide if it's your scene. Favela Chic is our scene!

This is one of the good places for Jazz on frenchmen street- Food and drinks are great but very reasonable prices. Shots and cocktails are so cheap and music is defo worth visiting. Very under rated place. Service and vibes are very chill.

Fun place for live music. One drink minimum. Low key vibe in a cool part of New Orleans. Really enjoyed seeing Sugar & The Daddies

Fresh Bud Light served. Plenty of character at this place. Tons of murals all over the inside!

For what it was, it hit the spot. Favela Chic is open late night and we wanted something quick and easy to munch on. They had pizza, indoor and outdoor seating, and even someone at the door monitoring everyone. No cover charge. Ordered our pizza and went to their restroom. The restroom was a bit of a dump with graffiti everywhere and a loose door, but I did my business and was in and out. Honestly, given other options in the area were mainly seafood, I was pleased with this place.

What a delicious spot! After a long day of traveling, my boyfriend and I came here to listen to some jazz, have a drink and a bite to eat! It was recommended to us after we checked-in at our hotel. To drink... He started with a sour pickle martini. Sour pickle vodka, splash of vermouth and olives. It was delicious!!! I had a blueberry Long Island iced tea. Don't really remember everything in it, but yummy! To eat we had chicken wings and crawfish mini pies. Let me tell you....those were the most delicious chicken wings we've ever had. Super crisp without any grease. We didn't even use the bbq sauce on the side. Crawfish mini pies were yummy too! Amazing flavor packed into those little pockets. The jazz band playing was great too. Vaccination card needed prior to walking in. 5% service fee added to bill if using a credit card.

Favela Chic is easily my favorite spot on Frenchmen for late-night hangouts. It has it all--a live band every night, good eats, and there are three separate bars, so even though they're usually comfortably busy, you rarely have to wait in line for a drink. The bartenders are friendly, and drinks are strong and affordable--plus they're open crazy late and serve food right up till closing. The atmosphere is pretty chill and laid back; I've seen the main bar turned into an ipromptu dance floor and there are drag shows on friday nights. The cool blue lighting and funky art make for the perfect drunken photography and selfies. For quite a while, the menu had been limited due to covid, with only a few items available--pizza, mini pies, wings, Honduran style tamales, and Jamaican meat patties. Now I'm not knocking the mini pies, because they're delicious, especially the crawfish with its local nola seasoning. The tamales are excellent too, as they are handmade in house by the owner and served wrapped in a banana leaf. That said, I was pleased to learn that the full menu has now returned! They once again have tacos, quesadillas, and burritos in beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp, all made fresh to order and topped with a very nice pico de gallo. My favorite is the shrimp tacos, of course. The burritos are made on the grill, so the tortilla comes with some admirable crisp, which I've found is rare in nola, and the quesadillas, though I have not tried them, are plump and overstuffed. My friends always go for the pizza. You can get a whole pie straight from the oven for $20 or a slice (which is actually a quarter of a whole), and these are all made in house daily, dough and sauce included. They recently started offering veggie slices with bell peppers, onion, etc, which smell amazing. The bacon jalapeno and sausage pepper seem to be popular too. There's often something new to try. So drop on by, especially if you're from out of town and on the search for some classic New Orleans sound; they've usually got that here.

    The bar!

2nd stop on our visit to Frenchmen street - it should have been our first! Great music, drinks, and fresh and hot and well cooked foods. The acoustics are very good - and the chairs are comfy (padded!). If you want to hear authentic jazz music budget some time here. The fries and empanada were good. We will be here again!

A possible employee attempting to direct a street band member away from the front of the bar while on public property (sidewalk)

How can these people shoo away a street band in New Orleans of all places? With a mural like that in the bar front no less? You don't buy into a place and it's culture to try and drive the people that make it so special away. Gentrification is an evil thing. Embrace what makes the city so unique and lively. While we all should understand most businesses try to cater to people of all walks of life, they shouldn't do it to the detriment of the local community and culture. This is a music venue itself. If the business is worried about noise levels, they should maybe invest in some better soundproofing. But from I understand, none of this was ever an issue with the last owners. Adapt or the other option is ostracization from locals, and it'd be deserved. I think this place is trying to cater to someone who wants a more watered down NOLA experience. Don't patronize here if you want a more authentic trip to New Orleans.

Spot was not bad not great but not bad. The bar was good with good vibes. it is around other spots so you don't like this spot you can walk to another.

We came here on a Wednesday night. It was wonderful. Not too crowded at 9:00 and the band was fantastic. Jazz, dancing and everyone just having a really nice time. We tried to go back on Friday night but it was beyond crowded and more like a club. We didn't go in, plus the streets were packed.

Spending so much time in New York, I've probably had better, but the food here is still good. This is a small chain (NOLA, Metairie, Baton Rouge, West Palm Beach), outfitted with neon, murals, and pink flowers. The menus are high tech and light up when you open them. We started with the queso fundido, with melted mozzarella, chorizo, pico de gallo, and microgreens. Comes with corn or flour tortillas. It was cheesy and tasted great. They also provide chips and a flight of three salsas. Salsas all had completely different flavors and spice levels, so I enjoyed that. Other options are guacamole (with or without short rib), plain queso dip, short rib bites, and oysters rockefeller. Selections include various tacos. I had the birria tacos, which are served in a dramatic fashion, hanging from a line over the tray, which contained the consomme, salsas, rice, and refried beans. They were juicy and savory and the accompaniments hit the spot. Though I've probably had better birria elsewhere . . . not sure you'll find any better or authentic anywhere in New Orleans. My husband had the fish tacos (ensenada), crispy and covered in cilantro, payo, pickled cabbage, avocado, and pico de gallo. The fish was light and the pickled slaw added just the right amount of brightness and acidity. They also have mushroom tacos, chicken, bone marrow wagyu, carnitas, shrimp, and more. They serve larger main dishes including fajitas, carne asada, barbacoa, burritos, enchiladas, and more. They have a great drink menu with the expected margaritas and mezcal as well as some fancy specialty drinks. I has the Hasta el Agua Del Florero, which is vodka, bombay, lemon juice, pineapple juice, and watermelon syrup. It was good, but also 20 dollars. The margaritas of course come a little cheaper at 13 bucks and are decent. Some people complained about service. It wasn't busy when we stopped in, but our server stayed on top of things, the table was always bussed, he kept checking to make sure everything was to our liking. We had no server issues at all. Not sure this would be the top of my list to try of all the choices in New Orleans, but not a bad choice if you're in the mood for a Taco Tuesday or some Mexican chow.

Fresh seafood from the Gulf of MEXICO and a wicked drink menu. They offer several ceviches. We had the crispy cauliflower served with tempura, cashew habanero crema, garbanzo hash, and chimichurri. Loads of flavor and just the right bite size for tapas/apps. Plates include churrasco, fish and grits, paella (can be served veggie or without shellfish if you're allergic), lamb, Yucatan style pork, shrimp or steak mofongo, and chicken poblano. I had the churrasco, served with papas bravas. Steak cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. My husband had the steak mofongo and the beef tips, like the churrasco, were seasoned perfectly. So, I ordered a $15 food item and an $8 Negro Modelo beer. That's $23, right? Except they didn't include tax. No biggie, right? That's usually in the bill, but sometimes not. Except the "tax" was $2.40, or an absurd 10.2%. No other bar charged this, so even though this larceny is apprently the actual tax rate in New Orleans for food, it really should be listed. But then, there was a $4.60 "service charge"! Like, you build in a 20% tip to individual purchases and then try to hide it? Classy. I kinda laughed when I saw that there was an additional tip line. I'm like, yeah, you paid yourselves already. But wait! There's more! Then they added a $1.20 fee for paying with a credit card. Like, for real, I'm not making this up. So, my $23 purchase came up at $32.71! The food wasn't actually terrible, but avoid this scam at all costs.
