Burger and fries and whiskey lemon something (it was my friend's food and drink, haha)
    Gladys C.

Out walking late at night with a friend through the French Quarter and beyond. Lol. Ended up here. We had vodka lemonade and burger and fries and onion rings. Danielle the bartender and the chef were very nice. The chef cooked up some hot tasty food with not a long wait. Seems like a nice little neighborhood bar and restaurant. What really stood out is that it began raining cats and dogs when we were going to leave and we tried to call Uber, Lyft, and cabs and no one would take our requests. Uber and Lyft wouldn't take the requests trying to hold out for the highest price. And Danielle and the chef were nice and let us stay at the bar until we got a Uber to pick us up. They didn't kick us out and let us stay until we got the ride to take us back to our hotel. Thanks Danielle and Buffa's!!!!

One of my favorite burger spots period! Great Bar too! With other great food selections of high quality in a tavern like setting with cool people and staff all around! Just go there!

The Redfish PoBoy - pricey but good for bar food

Our waitress was very sweet. The music was meh. The musicians were friends of my friends, but it felt more like a comedy hour. The place is historic in terms of how long it's been there, but would I return? Nope. The redfish was tasty, but I've had better fries. The blue cheese coleslaw is unique. It's sort of a family dive bar if you can have that. And the cover charge is $10 and added to your bill automatically or $8 if you pay online in advance.

Old dingy dive bar on the corner. Clearly been here forever. The bartender was crazy friendly and super helpful. We started with the alligator balls and they were OK. The true star here is the redfish. We had the redfish po boy and it was spectacular. The blackened seasoning was just right and the sauce they add takes it to another level. The place was full of locals and they were all cool too.

I love this place, the food, the music, the staff! We make it a point to bring friends and family here when they come to town. So, that being said...they have 1 wonderful waitress who works her ass off, yes 1! Need I say that again...1. Don't be hungry when you arrive or expect food or drinks in a timely manner, for heaven's sake get this GOAT of a waitress some help!!

We went for late night burgers. The service was great, the prices were great and the burgers and fries were delicious. I would recommend this place when you have been out in the Quarter and want something to eat before you go home.

Super service and food! They were out of a few things which is the only reason for the loss of a star. The bartender was hot, friendly and quick. The food was awesome - we had gator balls (balls made of alligator) and salads and the red fish, - very very good food! Best part for us is that they were very close to our hotel! Small bar, live music out the back.

Grab your scuba gear because this dive bar is dive AF! This was my second visit, and it remains a nice, tucked-away spot if you're looking for a low-key vibe with a side of socializing at the bar. I decided to try a new beer and "The Bookie" cocktail--both were just okay. But wait, there's more! I heard a piano playing softly in the distance and asked the barkeep if it was coming from the kitchen radio. He said no and pointed me down a neat little corridor. I took a left and was pleasantly surprised to find a dining area with a live pianist! No food for me this time around, but it was still a great spot to unwind, as usual.

We decided to try this place out since it was basically next door to our hotel and we wanted some drinks! We walked in and sat at the bar and the bar was cool looked like a dive bar. The bartender greeted us right away, we ordered our drinks and boy were they strong! We then had a few questions about the menu and they were answered right away. I ordered the Redfish del Buffa and my wife the BLT. 10 or so minutes and our food arrived, my wife's BLT had a good amount of bacon and fresh veggies, but the bread was over toasted and cut her mouth a little bit. My Redfish del Buffa was amazing! the fish perfectly cooked and the crawfish sauce was creamy and delicious a definite winner! Service was great, food was yummy, and the dive bar was cool. Only bad part was there was a tiny roach on the bar which we killed so that was kind of gross.

The Brat with a side salad! Very good!

So depending on the day and time, and time of the year, your menu of options at Buffas will be different. And I could spend 10 sentences talking about their ham! However, the burger at buffa's is a staple. A great burger at a good price. Also, the beat sausage sandwich is pretty solid! One of the added benefits of grabbing a bite at Buffa's barroom - usually you are going to catch some fantastic music! I would highly recommend you try it out!

The staff were lovely, pretty attentive. Gave us good guidance on their THC drink menu. Very apologetic when brought us chicken wings that were raw in the middle :( They brought us out a replacement and said there had been 25 orders and apologized for the oversight. Ordered the Sith burger and honestly was very good, but it took almost 30 minutes to come out. Initial orders came out with fries completely unseasoned/unsalted. There WERE cockroaches, BUT I think they came in from outside. Overall, I didn't mind the experience (service was good, got free food), but the food was undercooked (9pm on a Thursday, for context) and there were visible cockroaches on the wall. Friends thought it was a disaster, but again, the burger was good

We stopped in the afternoon for a drink and to learn about the entertainment they offer. The bartender and customers were very friendly telling us about the upcoming performers. While we didn't eat anything the man beside me got a burger and it looked great! They recommended you buy tickets online for the night you want to see the show or you might not get in. They have about 12 tables in a back room for the concerts. We definitely plan to return.

Ask the Community - Buffa's Bar & Restaurant

Is there an open mic night and if so what day and time?

We have an Open mic every Wednesday starting at 7pm.

    Is there on-street parking?

Yes, you may park on the street nearby but it is also in a neighbourhood. The RTA streetcar route 49 passes by at St. Claude and Esplanade than it's a short walk riverward (inbound) one block and Buffa's is right there on the upriver side at 1001…

What time do they stop serving dinner on the weekends?

We ate there around midnight on a week night.

Would this place be good for a Sunday brunch with kids?

Absolutely — especially if your kids like New Orleans style Traditional Jazz. Enter the dining room entrance on the side of the building on Burgundy Street (no kids allowed in the front bar).…

For entrées we had Banana Foster Pain Perdu, Side of Duck Bacon, Hashbrown, 100% Seafood Gumbo and Fried Catfish. Everything was seasoned to perfection and hot!!! Last but definitely not least are the Cocktails which were very good. Try the Cold Brew Martini if you like iced coffee type drinks and also try the Strawberry Lemon drop for a sweet treat. Both taste great and have a nice amount of spirits in them. This is a must try in NOLA. Will definitely return!!

We checked into our nearby hotel a bit early in the day and was looking to hit the streets for a spot to get a chill/light breakfast, a coffee and maybe a cocktail. We found all the things at Luzianne Cafe. Whether you belly up to the bar or grab a table, both of which are first come first serve, you start at the counter where you order, pay and grab your table number. It appears that during busy times they allow you to sit first and order from the QR at your table, this is an assumption given the code to order at the table, but the sign at the entry directed folks to the counter to order before sitting. For breakfast, we got the breakfast biscuit which came with eggs, bacon and cheese, and sided it with grits. The breakfast sandwich was solid, eggs were a bit soft and grits were more mealy than we are used to, but I think that may be authenticity of the area more than anything. I opted for the three option omelet with onion, sausage and gouda plus a side of sausage links. The omelet, though odd sounding combination turned out to be solid. Maybe it was my options, but it was decently "one note" in flavor. I tossed a little hot sauce on and that helped. However, while the sausage links were not much to look at, they were tasty, with a nice snap to the casing and meaty inside. To go with our breakfast, I got a cold brew with a splash of almond milk while my partner embraced NOLA and started his day with a bourbon sour. Both of us enjoyed our choices!
