We're visiting my son at Dickinson College and tried Fay's Country Kitchen for breakfast. Although there was a line when we arrived, it moved quickly. The people were very friendly and attentive. Sally took great care of us. I had the skillet with bacon and cheese. They both had bacon egg and cheese on bagels with hash browns on the side. They have Coke products and have even decorated in a Coke motif. They take cash or check and have an ATM on site. Really great and highly recommend for delicious food and friendly people. read more

Always wanted to try this cute little restaurant, and was finally able to a bit ago. Told the waitress our 1st time and she recommended we get the grilled LA cinnamon bread, and it was very good. 6 of us stopped by here on Sunday for brunch. It was packed and we waited about 10 minutes. Which wasn't bad considering the crowd. I started with a nice cup of coffee and waters were given. I went with the old world omelette. It has mushrooms, bacon, feta cheese topped with a flavorful red sauce. I also had a side order of Canadian bacon. Found this place when I was looking to meet a friend for brunch. It had good reviews, so we decided to try it out. It was not far from the highway and had street parking out front. We walked in around 11:00am on a Sunday morning and while it was crowded, we were able to get seated right away. The skillets on the menu are what caught my eye ahead of time. I ordered the Fiesta Skillet (with no mushrooms, pictured below) and it was delicious! It came out in a very hot skillet, as the menu described. We also tried the Bananas Foster French Toast (also pictures below). It was just okay - nothing special. Every time my family and I visit Carlisle, we make it a point to experience at least one breakfast at Fay's Country Kitchen. There is a lot to love about this little place. Fay's has an extensive list of breakfast items that they serve. From eggs to oatmeal to toast to waffles to breakfast meats and potatoes, if you like it in the morning, Fay's probably serves it. For all of the items on their menu, the most impressive section has to be the pancakes. Fay's offers an amazing array of pancakes. They have their mainstay versions, like blueberry, chocolate chip or banana nut, as well as seasonal varities. As with most things on Fay's menu, a little money goes a long way when we're talking about pancakes. For just a couple dollars you can get two pancakes that are gigantic. About the only thing that will set you back at Fay's is the orange juice. You want orange juice, you are going to pay a lot for a little. Just keep that in mind. Also be aware it is cash only. So why only four stars? Well, my only issue with Fay's is that they don't offer much in the way of vegan food. But, if I'm being honest, what breakfast place in Carlisle does? When it comes to breakfast in Carlisle, there is no place my family and I would rather visit than Fay's. read more

I swore I wouldn't spend my money here again after having the exact same experience about 11/2 years ago. Both times I was told how many minutes until it would be ready. I go there when they said my order would be ready. The first time I stood in the restaurant for 25 additional minutes before getting my order. This time I stood about 10 minutes before getting my order. The point of take out is NOT to wait. Food is ready to go when they told you. Not sure what the issue is, but it won't happen to me again. A custom order was reframed as the meat lovers skillet which was enjoyed. I had the chipped beef on toast which was a smooth not too thick consistency. I stopped by Dickinson College last April on my way to Penn State to say hi to friends and enjoy dinner in Carlisle. The next morning, I needed breakfast to energize me for the drive to State College. Everyone recommended Fay's and I didn't have a hard time finding it. I parked, walked in, was seated. Servers (Leilani and Emily) were great to deal with. I ordered one of Fay's breakfast specials (see photos) which had a robust slice of ham from Martin's Meats (from Lancaster, Pennsylvania), eggs, hash browns, and buttery, buttery toast. Not sure if it energized me (I must have had a food coma) but it was ridiculously good. Look at my photos to see how THICK the ham slice was. Highly recommended. read more

Out of town friends wanted to go to Fay's for buckwheat pancakes. They only used to serve corn syrup for pancakes but now can pay an extra $1 for real maple syrup. Menu has not changed much in 20 years. The food is standard diner breakfast. read more

I absolutely LOVE this little place. If you ever are just driving through and want a place to get some breakfast or even a quick lunch, this is the place!! I love the small town feel of it. It's not trying to be fancy or "modern" or anything it's not. It's just a simple restaurant with genuine staff. It does help that I happen to go there every time with my friend who is from Carlisle, so the people are especially nice because they know her. But you get the sense that these people are nice whether or not they know your name. Which by the way, it seems like they know everyone's name there. I LOVE it. The other thing that is amazing about this place is that the prices are super cheap! You can get a great breakfast here for $10 or under. My breakfast was the "breakfast special" and it's literally $7.50. It comes with a small oj but that OJ is hilariously small, so either buy something else or be aware it's not gonna be thirst quenching. The amount of food though is perfect. Honestly there's no other place to grab breakfast than this place. I love love love the vibe of this place. I made sure when we passed through this time we came back for food.
