I don't know where to begin but it was GREAT, from the SERVICE, to the FOOD, to the "all American Diner" feel! What did we order: - 2 eggs, sourdough, and bacon - mushroom and onion 3 egg omelet Both meals were GREAT!!!!! Felt homemade!! Also did I mention the PRICES?? Sooo cheap!! We walked out the door at 20 bucks!! So cheap in today's economy!!!!! THE SERVICE, she was great!! Talking with everyone and really added to the experience!! Finally, the ambiance is just a diner Feel! No frills but great service and AMAZING FOOD!!

Near the capitol, affordable food, service is okay. Generous serving of full salad, Annie Oakley sub was packed too, could some more meat in tuna and philly, but I think it serves the price. Locally-run, looks like some people who work here are actually related. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside needs upgrade, like tables are really worn, but I guess that works as long as they keep it clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

First time here, traveling from Louisiana, and the food is was pretty good. I ordered a French toast with eggs and turkey meat. Yes I know it's not your traditional French toast breakfast but for what it's worth, it was pretty good. I would've love to have some power and fruits but all in all it was a solid 6.5. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place gives the old school, diner vibes with the backless bar stools and the wooden boots![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was pretty much laid back nothing to expect here but overall it was worth a great tip! If I'm in the area again I'll come back to show my support!

On a snow flurried January day, Roxy's Cafe is a shelter close by the State House in Harrisburg, PA. After taking care of business at the Department of State down North Street behind the beautiful rotunda, we scurried over for a quick lunch before heading back home to Bucks County. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The joint is dated, with wobbly spinners at the short counter and a few tables along the windows facing the State Museum and capitol. It definitely has seen better days, but it does have a certain charm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was friendly and handled our order of their Annie Oakley roast beef sandwich w fries and Rachel (Reuben's cousin) with grace. Both plates were decent and relatively inexpensive, even if the quality of ingredients was not exceptional. They were a nice size, hot and filled us comfortably for the dreary drive east. On a better day we would have walked further for lunch as recommended by the guards at State, but given the weather we were satisfied with our meals and appreciated that Roxy's had stood the test of time at this lonely winter outpost in the capitol city. 3.5 Snowy Stars

Nice place! Was in the area and this place reminds me of an old styled diner. Great place for lunch. Portions are really big and isn't that pricey. Good service.

Three star rating on breakfast only. Probably should saved the $25 and made eggs at home. Homefries were tasteless, or actually just tasted like the grill they were cooked on. Both rye and sourdough toast were nothing special. Omelettes good, not great. Service was slow and it wasn't that busy. Three weeks ago it was busy and we were turned-away at the door so we went to the keystone that day. Not sure we'll be back for breakfast. Maybe lunch. We'll see...

Pleasant staff, quick service, basic dining decor and all the basic breakfast/lunch items on their menu. My lunch item, a regular ham and cheese hoagie/sub, was fine.

So yummy, just like I remembered! I just had to bring my girls for breakfast. The blueberry pancakes were the best! My girls are now my forever dates to Roxy's.

Coda Rouge, I commend you for a superb Valentine's Day dinner…read more I've experienced lunch at Coda Rouge a few times, but this special occasion, the five-course prix fixe aphrodisiac menu, was next-level dining. Why? The opportunity to experience the live painting artwork by Bryan "Prolifik" Hickman, artist and creator of the Tuskegee Airman mural on the side wall of Coda Rouge. The added ambiance of Singer's Lounge, Phebe West, singing lovely, familiar tunes. And last but not least, the intimacy of meeting Coda Rouge chef, Sachiko Tashiana, who trained under renowned chef Wolfgang Puck. And all hands on deck from the chef's family, who helped make the evening special. Finally, the presentation of each of the five courses and the food was superb. If you have never experienced Coda Rouge, you must add it to your short list of Harrisburg fine dining experiences.

It's no surprise since Valley Bistro is on many customers' short list of wonderful places to eat breakfast or lunch. Despite how busy it was, the wait for food was only about 20 minutes--which, surprisingly, is the longest I've ever waited there. Even more surprising, the food arrived noticeably before the drinks, which was a little perplexing but didn't take away from the overall experience. We ordered a kids' egg sandwich with extra chocolatey chocolate milk, which was a hit. My breakfast companion went with the classic breakfast--two dippy eggs, bacon, wheat toast, and grits--along with a mocha latte. Everything was hot, fresh, and exactly what you want from a cozy brunch spot. This was also the first time I've ever sat in the dining room to eat. It wasn't a bad experience at all, especially with the festive holiday décor adding to the atmosphere--but if I'm being honest, warm-weather porch seating is definitely my favorite way to enjoy Valley Bistro. Crowded for a reason, consistently good, and always worth the visit--Valley Bistro continues to be one of my go-to brunch spots.

Knowing Father's Day would probably be busy, I decided to do my homework ahead of time. Before we even left the house, I used First Watch's online "Check In" feature to get our name on the list while we were driving there. The website estimated a 10 to 20 minute wait and instructed us to let the hostess know when we arrived. Perfect! Or so I thought... About 15 minutes later, we walked through the doors...into absolute chaos. The lobby was PACKED with people waiting for tables despite the fact that roughly half the dining room appeared to be sitting empty. I squeezed my way through the crowd, made it to the hostess stand, gave her my name and mentioned that I'd already checked in online. "Great," she said. "It'll be 20 to 25 minutes." Wait...what? So the online check-in that said we'd be waiting 10 to 20 minutes...didn't actually accomplish anything? If I'd known we'd still be waiting another half hour after arriving, we honestly would have chosen somewhere else that accepted reservations or true call-ahead seating. The online check-in created expectations that simply weren't met. About 20 minutes later, we were finally seated. Unfortunately, things didn't improve. We sat for another 15 minutes before our waitress stopped by to take drink orders. We decided to order all of our food immediately because we weren't confident we'd see her again anytime soon. Good decision! The coffee arrived fairly quickly. The water...tap water, not fancy water, not bottled water, not water that required any preparation other than being put into a glass bottle and carried to the table, showed up about 10 minutes later. Here's what we ordered: Million Dollar Bacon ($6.29) - four slices of hardwood-smoked bacon glazed with brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne and syrup. This was absolutely phenomenal! If nothing else, order this (or learn to make it at home so you can avoid an excessive wait at First Watch to eat it). Sweet, smoky, just enough heat...this absolutely lived up to the hype! Power Wrap ($11.49) - egg whites, turkey, spinach, mushrooms and mozzarella in a sun-dried tomato basil tortilla with fresh fruit. The wrap itself was really good. The fruit was a mixed bag. The grapes were great, but the pineapple was still hard and noticeably underripe. At this point in the meal, I wasn't surprised and definitely wasn't going to try to get it fixed. Lemon Ricotta Pancakes ($13.29) - these were also really good. The lemon curd completely stole the show and made the pancakes. The menu advertised seasonal berries, which turned out to be strawberries. They were perfectly fine, though I probably would have expected blueberries this time of year. The Works Omelet (FREE BECAUSE THE ORDER WAS NOT CORRECT) - this was my stepdad's Father's Day breakfast. He ordered it WITHOUT onions. It arrived with EXTRA onions. By that point, our waitress had disappeared again, so rather than wait another 20 minutes for a remake, I flagged down another employee near the kitchen. I explained that we'd waited long enough already and simply wanted the omelet removed from the bill instead of remade. To their credit, they handled that professionally and removed it without any argument. While I had someone's attention, I also requested plates for the Million Dollar Bacon appetizer that had been sitting on our table for about 15 minutes and asked if my mom's meal could please be brought out since everyone else's food had already arrived quite a while earlier. Our final bill came to just over $44 after tax and tip. Even after everything that happened, I still left our waitress a 25% tip. It was Father's Day, the restaurant was clearly overwhelmed, and I try to assume people are doing the best they can with what they've got. That said...it was obvious something wasn't working. Whether they were understaffed, overwhelmed by the Father's Day crowd, or simply having an off day, the entire experience felt disorganized from beginning to end. The online check-in wasn't accurate, service was painfully slow, food came out at different times, one meal was prepared incorrectly, and our server disappeared for long stretches throughout the meal. Ironically, the food itself was actually pretty good. If I were reviewing only the Million Dollar Bacon, it would easily earn five stars. Unfortunately, restaurants are more than just food. For me, the overall experience matters just as much. There are simply too many excellent local breakfast and brunch spots to justify returning after an experience like this. I'm glad my stepdad's omelet was removed from the bill, and I appreciate that the staff made that right, but I left more frustrated than impressed. First Watch may have just had a really bad Father's Day. But based on my first experience, I don't think I'll be back to find out.
