Hook and Flask was hit and miss. The $12 spirits flight was nice. I was able to sample some of their very own whiskey rye, and the delicious but not very potent apple pie moonshine. The appetizers (onion rings, fried pickles and soft pretzels) were all good. I was less impressed with their #3 IPA that reminded me of medicine. The cheddar burger was not seasoned at all, and the vegetables (tomatoes and lettuce) were wilted and unappetizing. The homemade chips weren't bad however. This spot has been great for years! I would have recommended to almost anyone that would listen. Today, however, is a different story. They may have been short or something going on. The food took forever, and the burger I ordered was way over cooked. The waiter was great, he even took off 20 dollars for us waiting for so long. Seriously, I have always liked this place. However, this visit really assured me that I love this place. It is in the main town Carlisle so parking can be a little rough, especially on a busy weekend. We went on a Friday and it was not very busy at all, so we sat at the bar. We had the most rad bartenders every Roxanne and Cody I highly recommend going when they are behind the bar. Even though the drinks on the menu are good, I've had them before we wanted to try something off the menu to celebrate my brothers birthday I received the Foxy Roxy it was made so good and tasted like summer, and I highly recommend it. My brother got Spa Day, which was a cucumber mint drink it was so delicious and refreshing, and then my boyfriend wanted a chocolate drink, and they made him an adult Chocolate Milk which was soooooo delicious. We did get a menu drink, and it was the adult root beer float it was very good!!! I got a build your own. I got the chicken breast with Swiss cheese and bacon. The chicken was so juicy and the cheese was melted just enough. The bacon was super crispy. The restaurant is super clean and I love the yellow lighting. The service was nice and quick. read more

Friendly service, great drinks and food. What's not to like? Drink menu is extensive and they even offer some excellent local beers on tap. Tough decisions. Drinks made with their spirits were fantastic. Somewhat limited food menu but done extremely well. I had the Breakfast Grilled Cheese....which was probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. My co-worker had the Smoked Turkey Club and he said it was delicious. They do offer daily specials as well. They had a surf and turf special when we were there. They do have music from time to time. Went here late Friday afternoon with a small group of friends. The bar area was full but the tables were empty. We had great service, our drinks were delicious. And though the menu is limited it was nicely prepared and delicious. My friend told me about Hook & Flask. I was walking around beautiful downtown Carlisle on Saturday and wanted to stop in and place a to go order. I really wanted to try their stouty chicken sandwich. I stood there for over 10 minutes observing the at least 4 workers talking amongst themselves or at the tables. A group came in and joined a table already seated and a waitress promptly addressed them. During this whole time not one person acknowledged my presence or even said someone would be right with me. So after that I went somewhere else to give them my business where I was immediately greeted as soon as I opened the door. Really bad customer service Hook& Flask especially for someone that has never been to your establishment. Do you wait at the door or go to the bar. We've been here twice now and the service leaves ALOT to be desired. The wait staff is certainly nice enough but the speed at which service comes is painful. We were here at least 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged. It took another 30 minutes to receive our drinks. If it weren't for friends playing in the band, I would not choose to return. I was part of the group on the evening of ice fest. I have never been to this place before but they had music so it seemed like it would be fun. We were sadly disappointed because the waitress told us that we had to leave because they were no longer serving customers which was strange because it was early evening. As we stood there several other people coming in took seats. We chose to ignore that waitress and sit like everyone was doing. The rest of the staff seemed embarrassed that she did that to us. We visited Hook and Flask on Saturday 11-16-19 with my in laws for a birthday celebration. Our visit started out with a warm welcome from Mark, our guide from the distillery tour. All of the staff provided prompt service and suggested that we get a drink to take on the tour with us, which was awesome. The tour was about an hour and so much fun. Mark was so knowledgeable and also made sure we had a great time. He was very personable. It was a blast and a perfect way to spend Saturday afternoon. At the end of the tour, we had a tasting of whiskey, vodka, and apple pie moonshine. All of the spirits were smooth and had great flavor. I was very impressed. I have been to The Hook and Flask many times and always had a great time and the staff has always been great. BUT, on Saturday during Ice Feast, two friends and I arrived around 7. It was busy but there were several empty tables. As we approached a table to sit a waitress came over and said they were no longer seating and we couldn't stay. We were confused and asked why. She again said they were not seating new customers but we could get a drink to go. As we moved to a he bar to order a drink a group of people came in n and went right to the table we were denied. The same waitress went up to them and said, " people tried to sit here but I saved it for you. " . If this waitress would have said the table was reserved we would have been happy to sit elsewhere but she right out told us to leave. We did chose another table where another waitress served us. When we told her what happened she made some excuse about running out of food. We proceeded to order food and 2 more rounds of drinks. Not sure if this is a regular occurrence for this waitress, we hadn't had her before, but not sure Hook and Flask will be my first choice anymore. It's a shame. read more

I came here twice in the last month. Once for happy hour and again for drinks/dinner. Briefly, there are better places to spend your money and service is subpar. The drinks are strong, but pricey, and the liquors (I tried the tequila and whiskey) tasted bottom shelf quality to me. The food is ok, overpriced for what it is and slow to prepare. They seem to have a thing for run of the mill tater tots dressed up with different toppings. The wings are whole, poorly seasoned ( I had buffalo and garlic Parmesan) and were inferior compared to the others in town and are slightly more expensive. The salads are relatively small for the price as well. Worst of all is the service. Perhaps our server was new, but we had to wait to get drinks most of the time. Food came out in batches for a party of eight, to the point we wondered if we weren't getting served our entire order. Three orders of wings came 10 minutes apart, salad/hummus followed wings and sliders... just sort of a strange experience. $80 for 5 drinks, 4 whole wings, tater tots & pulled pork, and a salad.
