General Harry T Hayes prepared Big Round Top style

Once you order, ask for a to-go box since the portions are large. The staff was very accommodating to allow us to dine outdoors on their sidewalk since we had our four-legged family member with us. Inside, the bartender and hostess were equally wonderful. We tried a General Harry T Hayes burger prepared "Big Round Top" style. Ask for extra napkins and don't put it down. It's juicy and it's messy. We also tried the Cuban Sandwich which had extra zing with the spicy mustard and crunchy pickles.

This place never disappoints! From the juicy, meaty wings that are perfectly coated with the most delectable sauces, to the HUGE burgers with the crazy delicious topping options. No matter what you choose you'll be left full and happy! Make sure to see what weekday specials they have because they are quite the deal. We came on a Monday and got to enjoy their shrimp special! The vibes here are welcoming and fun with the bustling bar crowd. The service is always quick and attentive and seems to always be one step ahead from drink refill to extra napkins, they have you covered! BONUS: Always make sure to order a side of Garlic parm wing sauce as a dip for your fries or whatever you please! It's only $1 to add and its garlicky cheesy goodness will have you questioning why you haven't done it sooner!

A great burger joint right in the middle of town. The fact it is popular with the locals should say all you need to know. I've seen it crowded while other places nearby aren't. It ain't haut cuisine. what it is, is reliable bar food specializing in burgers with a civil war theme. yeah I know, shocking in Gettysburg, but it comes to the fore in the burgers where different themes are named for different generals. I forget who I had but it was supposed to have a dill flavor. It didn't seem particularly dillish to me but it was a decent burger at a decent price and fairly good service. I suspect the variations really only serve to pad the menu that wouldn't be hurt with a few less options. I mean do you really need that many variations on 'burger on a bun?' Still as i said, what you get is good. The only other down sidei have is a lack of any sort of uniform by the wait staff, not even 'wear a black t-shirt with you jeans' so in my experience it was a little hard to notice the college aged girl walking down the isle-is she looking for her date or, oh look, she's asking me for my order. Yeah, it's a niggling little thing but it marks the little things that could help this but as I said, with the crowds, they probably don't need to bother.

This is a classic American restaurant with burgers, sandwiches and wings in a perfect location on the corner of downtown Gettysburg. Make sure to snap a picture with the statue of Lincoln outside. The burgers were delicious! I recommend the unity fries which come with classic waffle and sweet potato waffle fries. The burgers are named after Civil War figures. Lots of options and cooked to order. Great spot for a burger and a beer!

Fast friendly service. Food comes out very fast. Nice local bar spot. Gets packed at the bar at night. Great beer and drink options. Great weekly specials Tuna bite- great seasoning. Super tender and great flavor Sickles Burger- good pickle flavor but not overpowering. Good fresh dill flavor. Burger is well charged and meat is very flavorful Buford burger really tender and juicy. Musket balls- very crispy outside and creamy on the inside. Pretty spicy. The sauces that come with it don't pair well and don't tame the spice at all.

While they have a good variety of burgers, e opted for some wings. They were very good with lots of sauce. I had the Devils Den which is the second to hottest. They were really good and they were spicy. Granted, what is spicy varies from person to person, so I'd say I'm about average concerning my ability to eat hot foods. We also had a Caesar salad which we both enjoyed. The salad filled the bowl, so it was hard to eat without dropping some of the salad on the table. I prefer a little more dressing than they provided. We also wanted to try their waffle fries, which were also good. Fresh and crispy. I know it's a mixed up lunch, but we enjoyed it. We have been by a few times and they always seem busy, although we did get a table right away. The staff were friendly and the service was quick.

We were there on a busy Saturday; they were clearly slammed and probably understaffed, and it took a bit over 20 minutes after ordering to get our food. Other than the wait for the kitchen, the service at the table was very good. It felt a bit pricey at about $62 for two with tip. Cheesesteaks were good but on the small side for $17 and $19 (the latter on a gluten‑free bun), and a little light on the Cheese Whiz. That, plus a cider and a Coke, left the overall experience somewhat underwhelming.

My wife and I both had the shrimp baskets and two soft drinks for lunch. The shrimp baskets were $17 each and the soft drinks $3 each. With tax and tips the total bill came to $50. The shrimp were obviously pre-battered and frozen but they were pretty tasty. The french fries had some kind of a nice crispy coating and were excellent. The coleslaw was pretty tired. The service was cordial and quick. The decor is as I remembered very nice. There is free parking behind this restaurant, but not many people know it is there. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because I think that the cost of the luncheon was a little more than it should've been for what we received. Had the shrimp been coated with a batter and fried from scratch (instead of being taken out of a frozen bag) I might've been able to award five stars. But... All in all this restaurant continues to hold its "very good to excellent" reputation for food and service over many years. I would die there again and I would recommend it with no reservations.

We all shared a fried pickle app. Fried pickles were standard with a house made dill type dip. Dip was good but portion could be a bit larger. Poutine was ok. I'm not a fan of cornstarch dusted fries-so there's that. The short rib was tender and plentiful. Oddly, though the short rib and the gravy didn't have a very beefy flavor. So the poutine was sadly underwhelming in my point of view. The portion is large enough to definitely share. My daughter's chicken thigh sandwich was good. She thought it was flavorful the sauce on. It was nothing to write home about. The house made chips were OK. My mom's cheeseburger looks really good. It was cooked just as she ordered. She said it was very tasty. It came with like a barbecue sauce on it, but she said overall was very good. They have a rather large drink menu with products from their distillery. The prices were not crazy. That skillet of poutine was $16. Total bill for three of us with fountain sodas an iced tea, our bill was $82. They have a bar it is somewhat kid friendly so give it a try.

My uncle ordered a cup of chili to start. It was served hot which is always a bonus. Not too spicy even though it had a spice label next to it on the menu. The presentation was nice as it's served with 4 tortilla chips. My Aunt opted for the babyback ribs served with fries. My uncle's main dish was the soft shell crab tacos while I went with the brisket mac and cheese and side Caesar salad. These items, with exception of the salad, were on a separate menu, likely seasonal. The servings are large (even the side salad)! I barely put a dent in my Mac and cheese. I was a little disappointed that the brisket that was "folded" within my MAC and cheese was playing Hide-and-seek. I would prefer more protein in that dish based on the quantity of pasta. The salad was well-dressed. At most restaurants I have to add caesar dressing to the salads. I washed it down with a sweet tea while my Uncle tried the White Birch beer. My aunt thought the baby back ribs were dry, and had a bit too much sauce on it. It would have been nice to have less sauce on the ribs, with additional sauce on the side. My uncle did not think the soft shell crab tacos were all that (although novel), which is probably why he ordered. It had more batter on it, and one can barely taste the crab. He said he would not order it again. As residents they will not go back to this restaurant anytime soon, and can't really recommend it unless someone just wants to try give it a try. I'll have to try the root beer on my next visit. Our waiter was very attentive and the volume in the restaurant was reasonable enough to have table conversations. I definitely recommend stopping at one of these locations if you're visiting or passing through.
