A burger in one place is much the same as a burger in any other? Ha! The Blue & Gray Bar & Grill, right in the center of historic Gettysburg, goes one better. We'd spent an entire day touring the battlefield, it's a Saturday, and the town is full of tourists. No surprise we had a thirty minute wait for a table. But once inside and seated, it was clear to us that the B & G was no ordinary bar & grill. The burgers are themed for generals, both Federal and Confederate, who took part in the battle. Each burger is characterized by the general it's named for. The General Buford, for example, is served with bleu cheese crumbles and horseradish (he's a cavalry officer, get it?) and the Robert E. Lee features a slab of Virginia ham. I ordered the General George Meade. Meade was a Pennsylvanian, so naturally this burger comes with a pile of Philly cheesesteak. A carnivore's delight, to be sure. No complaints here. And if I'm ever back this way, I'm curious to try the General Longstreet: it's served with carmelized onions and peanut butter. Been to Gettysburg many times, first time in here. Its where the group wanted to go. First it started with a 30 minute wait. Then the menu. Quite alot of different burgers on the menu. Lots of different wing choices too. Very little choices for entrées. More like an afterthought. Our waitress, bless her heart looked overwhelmed. I asked for a specific type of beer. "Oh im a girl, I dont know beers" say what? Then hands me a hand written list of beers to choose from. Also she totally forgot to put in one of the orders, for a table of 7. Yea, how do you miss a whole meal??? I asked for a medium burger, got medium rare. Along with cold fries. Who eats rare burgers??? The burger was delicious, but too rare for me (got the blue cheese one, named after some general) Overall I wouldn't recommend this place unless all you want is burgers and wings. Once you order, ask for a to-go box since the portions are large. The staff was very accommodating to allow us to dine outdoors on their sidewalk since we had our four-legged family member with us. However I visited the next day 9/23/2026 and The food is amazing, however the bartender was standing there talking to friends, glanced at me a few times while I'm sitting there arms crossed haven't touched my plate because I'm waiting for her to check on me so I can get a box. My wife traveled from Houston to Gettysburg to celebrated her birthday. We're staying at the Gettysburg Hotel, after a long travel day we came across the street to have a late meal and we're so glad we did. Place is clean, staff were super friendly. My wife had the crab cake burger and I had a burger with apple slices, I don't recall the name but it was on the Confederate side of the menu. We were both very happy with the food. It was AMAZING. A great burger joint right in the middle of town. The fact it is popular with the locals should say all you need to know. I've seen it crowded while other places nearby aren't. It ain't haut cuisine. what it is, is reliable bar food specializing in burgers with a civil war theme. yeah I know, shocking in Gettysburg, but it comes to the fore in the burgers where different themes are named for different generals. I forget who I had but it was supposed to have a dill flavor. It didn't seem particularly dillish to me but it was a decent burger at a decent price and fairly good service. I suspect the variations really only serve to pad the menu that wouldn't be hurt with a few less options. I mean do you really need that many variations on 'burger on a bun?' Still as i said, what you get is good. The only other down sidei have is a lack of any sort of uniform by the wait staff, not even 'wear a black t-shirt with you jeans' so in my experience it was a little hard to notice the college aged girl walking down the isle-is she looking for her date or, oh look, she's asking me for my order. I call this my "can't go wrong" restaurant in Gettysburg. It's got a little something for everyone. Burgers, wings, sandwiches and entrees are all pretty good. There's just enough civil war theming on the menu to remind you that you're in a tourist town, but the locals love it too. I had the musket balls as an appetizer which I loved but my wife found a bit spicy. She had a burger which she raved about. It juicy and cooked exactly as she requested. This is a classic American restaurant with burgers, sandwiches and wings in a perfect location on the corner of downtown Gettysburg. Make sure to snap a picture with the statue of Lincoln outside. The food that I had was very good, very reasonably priced, came out hot and fresh. I did have a buffalo chicken wrap in it. It was not fried tenders like you would normally get in my part of the world, it was shredded chicken so keep that in mind. I'm not really a fan of that. The broiled shrimp was excellent and incredibly reasonably priced. I'm going to take away one star because of the stench in the men's room, it's horrible and I can't believe they don't do something about it. The location was very nice. Staff was very friendly. The menu had a lot of burgers. We skipped the burgers and got $30+ steak. It was awful. It might have been the toughest steak I've ever eaten. If not, it was in the top 3. It was so tough you had to chew it about 50 times just to choke it down. I used the cheap plastic knife to cut it as small as I could, but that didn't help much. The wings were okay. The onion rings were cold. The fries were decent. Steamed broccoli was overcooked. Over $100 for a lousy steak, a couple beers and okay wings. read more

After an absolutely HORRIBLE experience across the square, we arrived at the Blue and Grey seeking solace and food. We were cheerfully welcomed and seated outside with our dog. The hostess, the waitress, the other patrons were so friendly, upbeat, happy, and accommodating. They brought the dog water and treated her like she was also one of their customers! The food, the service, the seating were all exceptional! They did their best to make us feel welcome after our previous experience. They even took a percentage off the bill to soothe our souls. They even told us that when the town was so smoky from the Canadian wildfires, they allowed the dogs inside the restaurant so the owners didn't have to sit outside in the smoke! While they have a good variety of burgers, e opted for some wings. They were very good with lots of sauce. I had the Devils Den which is the second to hottest. They were really good and they were spicy. Granted, what is spicy varies from person to person, so I'd say I'm about average concerning my ability to eat hot foods. We also had a Caesar salad which we both enjoyed. The salad filled the bowl, so it was hard to eat without dropping some of the salad on the table. I prefer a little more dressing than they provided. We also wanted to try their waffle fries, which were also good. Fresh and crispy. I know it's a mixed up lunch, but we enjoyed it. They came out hot and crispy, and the crab cream topping was both flavorful and nicely distributed across the fries--no skimping here. Every bite had a bit of that rich, creamy crab flavor, and it didn't feel overly heavy or soggy. It's always a gamble ordering something like crab fries, but this version really delivered. Excellent lunch in downtown Gettysburg. Menu is themed with Union burgers and Confederate burgers. Big round top style is a huge sandwich with double patty and double toppings. The place was packed so we sat at the bar. Decor is themed to the battle. Service was attentive and food came up pretty fast given the crowd. Worst restaurant experience of my life. First off we were told 25 minute wait for a table. We sat outside for 40 minutes until I asked my husband to go see if we would have to wait much longer. Turns out, they skipped over our name. Fast forward to us FINALLY being seated - the waitress comes over and asks for drink orders. She was not friendly by any means. TEN minutes later she comes back with my drink, and my two sons drinks. She forgot my husband's drink so she had to go back in and get it. Still hasn't taken our order. Ten more minutes go by and she brings his drink out and takes our order. Fast forward to 20 more minutes and we finally got our meal. Meanwhile, she hasn't checked on us once or asked if we would like anything else or refills. Halfway through the meal she finally comes back out and brings the ranch they forgot for my order. At this point I was already done so I can't even comment on the food because by the time we got it, it wasn't even hot. We had to go inside and ask for her to come out to our table so we could pay our bill. I've NEVER not tipped a waitress. Until today. This was by far the WORST service I've ever gotten in my life. Hubby had the Cuban with regular fries and a pickle. Mine cost $13.99 and his cost $10.99. With tax, 26.58 was extremely reasonable. Would recommend a stop, but better yet make a Reservation! Ambiance- quite loud. Perfect place for some good food, drinks while watching the game. Not a private romantic date night. Fun place for sure. Parking is non-existent but there is a small lot off East Middle Street that is close by. If you're lucky, you might score a parking space. read more

All of the food was delicious and portion sizes were great. Ended up taking some food to go which is always nice for leftovers. The interior was a nice small town bar vibe and it was super inviting. Ten years ago I came here and tried the Longstreet burger and for years I talked about how amazing it was. Of course I had to come back and have it again. It was not AS good as I remember but it's still up there with one of my favorite burgers ever. Will I come back and have it again? You bet your burger I will. Place is worth the wait.
