This unassuming chain restaurant, that looks in this location like it's in an old Pizza Hut building, has food that hits the spot. My wife had the fish tacos and I had a fish torta. The fish was crispy and delicious. I also especially liked the grilled onions and avocado on the torta. Though I felt the tomato slices were a little past their prime. The five stars are based on my experience (4 stars) augmented by my wife's more enthusiastic response: "I was really hungry and the service was quick. The Mineragua was perfectly chilled. The fish tacos on the combo platter were amazing! They had two corn tortillas on each taco, so they didn't break through, and the pico de gallo was magnificent!" read more

Where to start... came through to Federico's today and decided to give them a shot, used to eat here several times a week, but haven't been here except for a couple times a month now due to the rising prices and declining quality. Decided to order some enchiladas and taquitos today, and can't really express my regret after spending that much money on food. Seems every week that goes by their prices get higher while their portions get smaller. These taquitos I purchased today barely had any meat in them, literally less than 1/10 of an ounce of meat between (5) taquitos. You could say they were equivalent to the size of straws! There's barely any beans or rice in with the enchiladas, and the enchiladas are so dry and almost no chile sauce on them, that there is no point in even purchasing enchiladas from them. I could've just warmed up cheese and corn tortillas in the microwave for the level of expertise they put into making these enchiladas with no dam suce. This place has become horribly greedy and the worst thing about it is the meal comes with a drink and if you don't remind them to give you your drink they will not do so! This has become a common shady practice with this business that I have come to notice, and I have deliberately not asked for the drink just to see if they will mention it, or remember to give it to me. This has happened now several times, and they don't. Not only that but now they want to charge you extra for the Horchata with your meal now, and at full price, not even a discount as a drink for the meal purchase. There is absolutely no reason to treat your customers like that and be so shady, even with rising food costs you don't have to cheat customers to make a buck! From here on out my business will be going to Filberto's around the corner, you cheap bastards can keep your sh**ty food and shady business practices, i'm done! Federico's was rising star in restaurants back in 2019, now in 2025 it's on the list of restaurants I hope to see fade away due to them being so greedy! read more

Can't seem to be consistent in their order validation. Great for first couple of weeks then start getting order wrong or not being able to complete order. Preparation of order also not consistent, sometimes good, sometimes not so much. If it's going to be take it or leave it I'll leave it. Sad it's different...My husband and I used to frequent here bi-weekly for the 12 rolled tacos. We moved out of state but have since moved back and went back to we're we loved the rolled tacos. Unfortunately today our "first" experience was underwhelming...they no longer offer the dozen rolled tacos so we ordered 2 of the "5" count with cheese and guacamole on the side since we live somewhat far from this location. For 10 rolled tacos I expected there to be a decent amount of guacamole and cheese, sadly there wasn't the small cups we got were 3/4ish full and same with the cheese. Also the rolled tacos were undercooked and looked like they barely were in the fryer. Had to recook them at home to get them decent. The cashier was nice and the interior was fresher than before. We'll give them another shot before we find another spot for our rolled tacos read more

I lived near this Federico's for a few years now but never had the urge to try it until one day we did and surprise, it was great! I'm a taco fan, not a any-old-taco-will-do fan, I'm picky. Don't get me wrong, tacos are usually my go to at a Mexican or New Mexican restaurant so I'm ok with "ok" tacos - I'm not a taco snob, but if the tacos aren't great the first time I'll opt for something else next time. Federico's is a Mexican restaurant (not New Mexican). So far I've tried many of the taco combinations but the asada tacos are my favorite! The asada fries are also worth the trip. The portions are pretty big for the price and if you dine inside you get access to great salsa bar that has a variety of salsas and toppings for your meal. For a fast food, drive-through place I really was surprised to find out how good they were. read more

Okay, so first off, this place has the most amazing best prices for ceviche I have ever encountered. It also tastes amazing. The fish tacos are also on point. You won't like them if you are not a fan of cilantro. The tomato's, onions, jalepeno, are fresher than a newborn. So is the shrimp. It's to die for really. I have been going to this place ever since I moved to Rio Rancho about 5 years ago. I've only been inside once and it was fine, but I prefer the drive-up to take my food home . The line is long and slow, because they make real food, not just fast pre-cooked yuk. It's worth the wait. The service at the window is always genuinely friendly and accommodating (asking for the senior discount). They have an extensive menu and everything I've gotten has always been delicious. The cold food is fresh -- sour cream, guacamole, salad, pico de gallo - and hot, as in freshly cooked, not half cold like some places. And their tea - it's not your usual unsweetened tea, it's different and very good, like the "sport tea" I used to get in California. It's all good! read more

Legit Mexican food is kind of a rarity in Albuquerque. Sure, you've got all the New Mexican places, but that's hardly the same. Sometimes, I want a thin tortilla. Sometimes I want jalapenos instead of green chiles. Sometimes, I want cilantro, and pico de gallo, and guacamole. For those times, it's nice to know there's a place like Frederico's. This place may not knock your socks off, but it does offer some very competent Mexican food at modest prices and without any of the ado of a sit-down restaurant. This food is served in paper, on paper, and it's eaten with plastic, but it is hardly fast food in the same sense that Taco Bell is. Stuff here is fresh, made in house and out of quality ingredients. I've had the carne asada burrito (an Arizona staple) and the nachos, and both ended up being damn good. The burrito was fairly packed with deliciously grilled steak, pico de gallo, and cheese, and wasn't at all greasy in it's thin, stretchy, slightly chewy AZ-style tortilla. The nachos were almost comically large, absolutely piled up with meat, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and veggies, then doused with their complimentary taco sauce. Fantastic deal, but way more food than I could eat and not nearly as good the second day. I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes Mexican food and understands the difference between that and NEW Mexican food. If you get the huevos rancheros here, you'll be disappointed. After sitting in the drive thru for 45 minutes, finally got food for my family and got home after another 20 minute drive. Come to find out they seasoned the shrimp and chicken fajitas SO unbelievably spicy, they were 100% inedible. Everyone who took a bite, had to spit it out because they started choking on the intensity. That's NOT enjoyable food! This is my go-to place for when I want really good mexican food, especially really late at night since they are open until 12:00am! I normally just get the carne asada fries, carne asada tacos/burritos, and the adobada tacos. You can never go wrong with carne asada anything! I love the quality of their food as well, because you can definitely taste the difference in quality and flavor. Not just that but I love their portions! Everything you order is super sized, the carne asada fries are big enough to feed two people. The burritos are just big, and you're definitely getting your money's worth here. This establishment does prepare and cook all of their food fresh to order, so once you do arrive there is a bit of a waiting time and it is so WORTH it! We placed our order got our food and went home, my daughter went to eat her arose con leche, and realized something didn't look right when she looked closer there was a cockroach leg. After being extremely grossed out we took the food back and waited but no one ever came to the window. This is the first one I've found and the breakfast Chorizo burrito is just like I remember my "mom" making, except this one is much larger!
