Brooke , Keith, and Lucy really work well as a team. Walked in this morning expecting an appointment with Jamie at 0900 and with this crazy weather my appointment was wiped out of their system . Jamie was unable to come in and in other circumstances wouldn't mind coming in later or the next day, except we have family pictures booked at 0900 tomorrow morning . Trying not to fret and thinking I better start googling how to dye my roots - Brooke stepped up and offered to squeeze me in between her clients , but was not able to dry my hair , which Keith kindly offered ! Lucy helped dry my hair to keep the process moving . Of course you look forward to a full color - cut - blow out experience, but when life handed a lemon , they made a good drink ! I have been coming to this salon for regular color touch-ups, trims and the occasional keratin treatment for about a year now, and I'm so happy I found it! Jamie (the owner) does a great job, and the prices are extremely fair and affordable compared to other local salons. And as a millennial, I love that they accept Venmo for payment. Guess what do I find when I get home? Multiple uneven layers all around my head, my hair has different length all over. So disappointed. Have to cut it so much shorter now to make it the same length. Can say nothing but great things about my experiences at Fedora Salon. First of all, their new salon in Flourtown is beautiful. It's bright, clean and very aesthetically pleasing. You enter the salon and are kindly greeted by their receptionist who offers you an assortment of beverages which is brought to you in their sitting area. Decided to treat myself to a balayage but have had trouble in the past with going to salons. From the moment I walked in the entire staff was welcoming and made me feel comfortable. Amanda was my stylist and was incredible! Not only did she explain thoroughly everything she was doing, but was also honest in that my hair may not lift as It should. With her expertise, she got my hair to a great in between stage without any copper/brassyness. A balayage, toner, wash, blowout and waving (Amanda was nice enough to curl my hair since I was going out) was extremely moderately priced. : Professionalism, Quality My husband and I had been clients at Fedora salon, he much longer than me. I started using them to have hair extensions put in. Everything was fine the first couple times. Then Jaime stopped wanting to take my extensions out and asked me to take them out. I did pay the exact same amount as I paid the first couple times I went in there and I tipped 20%. I'd started having issues but let it go because I was too lazy to find another hair salon even though I had already been thinking about it. Most recently this last week Jamie had an emergency, totally understandable. I rescheduled for this Saturday she told me she couldn't take out my extensions because she just didn't have time. And I said, through the receptionist, which is all via text cuz you can't actually talk to anybody, that it would be nice if she accommodated me this one time considering I take them out every time. They told me to find another salon. Awful customer service, not great hair extension installation. I went home a few times and brushed my hair and they came out. I recently moved to the area and was so fortunate to have my very first haircut at a salon that shall not be named with Jamie! Now, let me begin by saying that I am VERY particular about my haircuts and color and usually go through a period of adjustment with a new hairstylist, however this was never an issue with Jamie. She listens to what you want and gives it to you! I know! Crazy! She also has an eye for color and style which is spot on! I even had highlights done (which I had much frustration with in the past with previous hairstylists) and she did a fantastic job! People compliment my hairstyle and color constantly. I came here for highlights with Jaime. She's very nice and tentative. I did caramel highlights on dark brown hair. I left satisfied although my hair did not turn out as what was shown in the picture I showed her, it was close enough and evenly done all over. The reason was my base color was darker than the girl in the picture; reasonable because I didn't want to do a multiple process to cause anymore damage on my hair. Pricing is reasonable compared to other salons on main street. The salon itself is pretty nice, although there are room for improvements. The chairs are white but had dark marks on them. Being that a salon is a presentation type of service, I would spend some time to clean up the chairs and make sure they don't have marks on them. There's a dog in the salon, very cute. read more

Fedora Salon & Spa is a brand new venture by my long-term stylist, Jamie, who worked at L'Etoile in Manayunk for the last several years. The atmosphere is bright and chic, with white leather chairs and crystal accents. Despite the beautiful decor, the staff is not at all pretentious and everyone makes you feel right at home. The public parking lot is conveniently located right across the street and there were also several metered spots available in close proximity to the salon. The receptionist is extremely friendly, and offered me wine, soda or even cheese and crackers upon my arrival. I was planning on receiving a keratin treatment, but after advising that I was going on vacation the following day, Jamie was honest and told me to hold off to ensure the best possible results. I received a trim, color with highlights and a blow out, all for an extremely reasonable price. For the time being, they are offering 20% to new costumers, so the prices are noticeably discounted. As always, my hair turned out perfect, and I left the salon feeling like a super model. My hair is shiny and full of body, I wish I could come here everyday! My advice is to book your appointment as soon as possible before this salon gets discovered!! read more

I was referred to the salon by my good friend who works at Fedora on a part-time basis answering phones and setting up appointments. I had been going to the same stylist for years and they recently stopped styling so I didn't know where to go, who to go to etc! So I bit the bullet and tried a new stylist, Ashley and she was AMAZING! She did exactly what I asked for-long-layered cut and subtle ombre color! It's the only time I left a salon after the first visit that I 100% loved my hair. Ashley saved my life. Okay maybe not saved my life but absolutely brightened my spirit and put a little pep back in my step! I had been going to a salon in Conshohocken because it was close to home. I never left there wow'd but I thought it was normal. It was a haircut, what more did I want? July 3rd I went to my normal salon (that I've been going to for a year & a half) to find the owner double booked me & all of her staff had left early for vacation. She kept leaving me to answer the phone, do the other woman's color, etc. Results... I had a terrible hair cut. It was not what I wanted and even worse, it looked horrendous. I went home and cried, like legit tears (she took off approximately 4-5 inches, I wanted it to be shorter with long textured layers and left with a long bob). I tell you this story because I was so apprehensive to get my hair cut again. How can I expect someone to fix such a mess without chopping me to pieces to fix it? I had memories of my long, gorgeous hair and now it's uneven, barely at my collar bone. So here comes Yelp to the rescue. I looked up salons in the area and had read that Jamie & Ashley came from Salon L'Etoile - immediately I knew they were quality stylist. Don't get me wrong - I like Salon L'Etoile but it was always so busy and impersonal. I was looking for a smaller, intimate salon which is what I found at Fedora. Ashley was easy to talk to, listened to me, and helped me figure out what my options were. She was sympathetic and understanding of how sensitive a haircut can be, especially after such a traumatic experience before (maybe I'm being a tad dramatic but my last stylist left me in tears, so I'm entitled to be a little emotional). I went here twice, thinking maybe I should give it a second chance. What a mistake. I have a really light ash blonde hair coloring. My natural is a darker/dirty blonde/brown. Both times (I had two different stylists thinking maybe it was just the one), my hair went bronze/gold at the roots. It was disgusting. Months later and several high light sessions later with my old salon and it's finally coming out, but what a disaster. They are extremely friendly and I love that they offer a student discount, but I think it boils down to a lack of experience. They are a young staff and I think they can take care of basic to moderate jobs, but when it's more complex and needs more attention to color chemistry, they just don't have it yet. I never received a cut, so I won't comment on that. But if you're a lighter blonde or are just picky with your hair color, I don't recommend this salon. Also, did anybody else pickup on the fact that the salon is named after a hat? What does a hat do? Covers your hair. read more
