I admit I was sorta expecting something spectacular...an amalgam of the fun, friendly vibe I have come to know of Club Pilates studios + an aloha spirit. I didn't get that. At all actually. Instead the instructor's interaction with us was one you might expect of a high school PE coach? So weird. I wanted to see if this was the overall vibe here, and tried to book a class with a different instructor the next day. Unfortunately, classes were canceled due to the storm. I'll have to wait for my next trip to find out. A single session here costs $45 per individual class, whereas it's $39 at my studios in Southern California. Also, you might want to give yourself some extra time to get here. My Uber dropped me off in a spot where I had to explore to get to my destination.

I'm three months postpartum, and the classes offered provide the perfect workout and challenge for me, as modifications are also provided. The studio is clean and inviting. Not only did the workout catch my eye after several classes, but the owner Melissa is extremely welcoming and knowledgeable to barre. I appreciate how all the instructors at Sweat + Soul are friendly and encouraging. It is a total body workout which includes brief stretching before transitioning to the next muscle group. I love how Sweat+Soul barre really targets the smaller muscles to help me feel strong and toned. I can attest that the workouts WILL stay challenging, even after working out here several times per week for years. Instead of getting "easier" with time, your form will slowly improve (which I think also helps to improve your posture!). If it's starting to feel easy, you're not properly engaging your muscles :) The teachers and the owner are all so friendly and know how to kick your ass in the best way. I also love how CLEAN it feels in the studio. Pretty much all other fitness studios I've tried out feel noticeably grosser compared to here. (I can understand that it's also probably due to the nature of the workout for other studios though.) The studio recently moved to Ward Village Center (Genki sushi, Kids City, etc.), on the side of the structure where Roger Dunn Golf is located. This new location doesn't have a water refill station yet, so be sure to fill up your flask before heading here.

The studio itself is lovely and thoughtfully arranged. Small classes (maximum six people) mean personalized attention, and Diane's preparation and expertise shine through -- she has clearly dedicated her life to Pilates. Her cues and hands-on adjustments are precise and encouraging, making each session fun, challenging, and rewarding. I love the ENERGY the instructors bring from the moment you walk in the door- I always feel welcomed, seen and encouraged. The workouts kick my butt no matter what level class it is since there can always be modifications. The instructors encourages by name, corrects your form, and are attentive. As much as I don't like driving from town to Kailua, KOMO gets me so I'll continue to make the sacrifice. Thanks for helping me show up to be a stronger better version than me.

I started going to Kareen 7 months ago - now I am doing weekly mini triathalons!! I just climbed Kokohead, did a 1600m swim AND did a 45 minute spin class today!. No kidding, I have come a LONG way! And 7 months ago I could barely touch my toes and was 50lbs overweight. Very nice and professional set up and studio. I had never done Pilates before so this was a new experience for me. Wow. Totally blown away by the 1 hour session/ class I took. You can totally feel what Pilates can do for you in just one session and I now see why people go back. You learn things you didn't know how to do and use muscles you didn't know you had (or at least I didn't). I wasn't quite able to keep up with everyone else but that didn't matter at all. The owner Kareen, who runs the place, is also awesome at working with your schedule and had multiple classes and times to choose from. I highly recommend this place!
