Feeney's is a great locals place that has been around for years. I only started going there a couple of years ago and had probably missed out for a long time. When walking in, you are immediately greeted by one of the very friendly family members. We had a party of five and made a reservation on Open Table (I think all restaurants should be on Open Table by the way). Right away we were taken back to our table. Feeney's is small with several small rooms of tables so I would recommend making a reservation for any size party. We placed our drink order, margarita for me, martinis or beer for my friends. They serve about 100 types of bottled beer and have a few on draft. This is when I made my check in on Yelp and was awarded a free potato skin appetizer. Why not!? When our server returned with the drinks I mentioned our free appetizer. He said, "I saw you check in, I've already ordered it for you." Nice! For the main event three of us had the prime rib, one had the ribeye and one had fish and chips. From what she was saying, the ribeye was outstanding, she could not have been happier with it. I was told that the fish and chips was also very good. As for our prime rib, it was good but needed a little boost in flavor. Still it was a beautiful cut of meat and tender. I was the only one who had been to Feeney's before and have only had the prime rib, so obviously it was normally outstanding. As I said, the prime rib had always been good in the past, it was probably just one of those not so flavorful slabs of meat that the restaurant received. I will return and I will order the prime rib again! Let me back up to the choices that come with entrees. Salad bar or soup and your choice of side item. I opted for the salad bar as I always do when dining there. It's a nice little salad bar with several choices of toppings. They also have several choices for your side item with a small up charge for a large twice baked potato ($2). It's very worth it! I am not a dessert person normally, but I always get one there. The mud pie! Coffee ice cream, Oreo cookie crust and chocolate topping. Mmm! Delicious! All and all this is a fantastic place. Support a local family owned business and check out Feeney's. Our first time visiting and the food was absolutely great. The atmosphere is very cozy with friendly and personable staff however our only concern was the questionable social distancing. We actually went early so we could anticipate a smaller crowd however by the time we left, tables were being seated less than 6' apart. read more

This place rocks...it's simply the best neighborhood bar, with the greatest old timers hanging out there. I always enjoy my food, my drinks and the company - no one drinks alone here. Where else can you find a salad bar from the 70's still up and functioning with bacon bits... I found this place because my mom was craving liver and onions. Upon arrival, it didn't look like much from outside, but once you go in, you encounter old world charm. My mom who's originally from Germany fell in love with the style of this restaurant/bar. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and were seated. Thereafter the owner followed up and recommended the special of the day- 3 tacos made with prime rib. I ordered the special and my mom ordered the liver and onions. The food was delicious- my mom is picky and she loved her food. My tacos were outstanding- the meat perfectly cooked and so tender- they came with an avocado-garlic mayo which was to die for- and also rice pilaf which I did not like- it was a bit salty. The owner offered drinks from the bar- however we had coffee and water. They have daily specials at great prices. Pros & cons Pros- the owner is very attentive and he genuinely cares about his customers. I noticed all of the staff working together to get their jobs done and they all smiled. The restaurant was clean, and tables bussed immediately. The food is superb, the meat is fresh and tender. The bar appears to offer many different beers and drinks. Great vibe throughout and they have an outdoor seating area right at the front entrance. There is also a larger dining area towards the back which was well lit. Cons- it was a little dark when you first walk in-front dining room- low ceilings contribute to this, the bathroom is a bit small and not handicap friendly ( my mom uses a walker and it was very hard to get into the larger stall) and there was a sewer odor in the restroom. No lemon offered for my water. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area; we found a new favorite. read more

Very hands on & friendly. 3.75 stars for overall food. 4.5 stars for value Trout almondine was HUGE & really delicious. A definite keeper. I would have preferred a little less oil/butter for health reasons. Prime Rib- great value! Salad bar- included with meal. Very kitsch, old school feel. Well, we had very higher hopes with all the reviews. All I can say is we probably should have ordered the Prime Rib which apparently is world famous. My girlfriend ordered the filet medium which came out as very rare and I ordered the filet and lobster. The lobster was so horribly cooked it was like cutting and eating rubber. My filet was medium so I swapped with my girlfriend. I could only eat the cooked edges of the steak at that point. Also had mashed potatoes with gravy. Should have asked for extra gravy because the potatoes were extremely dry. If you do chance this place I would avoid the lobster and potatoes and make sure they understand how your want your steaks cooked. read more

Over the top atmosphere for a small family place. Had dinner with a couple of friends the other night at Feeney's, great steak place. Once you get past the entry/outdoor area, which is the smoking area, you are into the main restaurant. Inside the decor is warm and inviting, not just one giant room, but a lot of small areas where you can eat, talk and enjoy the company of those you are with. My friends frequent Feeney's so they were known to the owners and the staff. We had salad bars and a steak. The salad bar is plentiful and comparable to other salad bars in many places. That is not a negative as I love salad bars and often that is my dinner, a good salad bar. The steak, which we split was excellent, with the right amount of spice and cooked beautifully. I do not go to many "meat" places, but if I want a hunk of steak that will fulfill that need, I now know where I will go. read more

First time here and I will be back! Excellent dinner and dining experience. Was initially met with smiles from host Amanda who quickly seated me. Nice restaurant upon arrival and very inviting environment. Their wine list was excellent with carefully selected wines that complement their menu. Loved the wide range of menu selections and great for every appetite. I ordered the humus plate for an appetizer which was exceptional. Great presentation. Really enjoyed the interaction from owner Maria throughout my dining experience. I ordered the pasta Greek style bolonase with meat sauce which was very authentic and savory in taste. Also the bartender who helped in my red wine selection which was very good. The wine is kept at cellar temperature which is appreciated very much. Overall a 5 star restaurant and dining experience. I have eaten here several times and have had many items on the menu except for the steaks. I hear the steaks are really good by the way. I like the old school look to this place. Feels very comfortable. There is a nice bar area by the front and a few rooms for dining plus a salad bar that is pretty well stocked. Service is always good. I have never had to ask for a server to come by. This place is always busy for dinner, a couple of times I could not even find parking. My last visit I was able to park close to the door. I ate at the bar once at that was nice too. I had the trout but for some reason it was not as good as other places I've had the trout. I also had the Osso Bucco, $22.95, and is was pretty good but was missing a little something. I had broccoli as a side and even though it was bright green, it was somewhat tough. The Chicken Picatta, $18.95 was kind of a disappointment. The chicken breast is supposed to be pounded but was not which often makes the breast dry. It makes such a big difference I don't know why some places are not wiling to pound the breast this as it should be for many of these Italian style chicken. I would not recommend this dish or the Chicken Marsala because it also should be pounded. (check out any receipe online). I should probably try the steak because this is a steak place after all. We went to Feeney's last night and our prime rib and steaks were delicious and perfectly cooked med-rare. The salad bar is a total throwback to years gone by. The server and owner were both very pleasant and professional. The prices are very reasonable and wine list was modest but good. Feels like a real local gem and the specials are burgers, liver n onions and can't remember the others., but definitely bargains. They don't take reservations for parties under six, but on a Monday we were seated quite quickly. Tried fried ice cream for the first time and was delicious!!! read more

Amazing! Service and food were fantastic! Drinks from the bar were made well, Beef Wellington was to die for. My son had the lamb chops - also very good. My other son had a burger that he couldn't finish (very big portion)! We were too full for dessert but I did see a few go by and they looked awesome. Next time I won't stuff the whole Wellington down and I'll save room for dessert! I was excited to try this landmark due to the reviews but I was so disappointed. We were a party of 3 on Wednesday evening and we were oddly seated in a really dark corner of the back room. We were the only party back there adjacent to the salad bar and the area where the chef and cooks seemingly play their own music to keep them entertained that actually drowned out our ability to have a conversation. First my husband ordered a beverage that never came until I ordered it again. Then his fish and chips came out uncooked inside and was returned to be "refried" and following our appetizer, we were literally forgotten for 20 minutes before placing our dinner order. Just a really odd experience that I unfortunately would not recommend or return. read more

Sentimental college days date location! Revisited this old fav of mine and it was "cheese-burger night! So a few of us had burgers which were delicious, but I had to stroll down memory lane and have my old favorite the base-ball cut sirloin. We were hesitant as we pulled into the parking lot.Being first time African American visitors to Phoenix the outside didn't appear welcoming but we saw a sister sitting on their outside patio so we went inside and I'm glad we did! When we entered there was a warm welcome by staff and we were seated immediately. It's a neighborhood bar/restaurant and folks appeared to be enjoying their food and each other. The food was good. I had their Osso bucco which was fall of the bone fork tender served in bowl of mushroom gravy. It was different preparation, but still delicious! I had rice pilaf as my side and it was comfort food heaven! My husband ordered fish and chips and the salad bar. He was pleased with his meal. The owner/hostess was very attentive and constantly asked us if everything was okay. Our waiter, a young man was also attentive and answered my questions honestly and with a smile. Would I return-yes and I'd try their hamburger. Make sure you do the Yelp check in for your free potato skin appetizer. The bar is loud and there's no wall to separate restaurant seating from bar. It is definitely a dive bar type scene, which is awesome because you can be comfortable and not have to worry about proper dining etiquette It took a little while to get service in the bar's dining area, however, once we got service, our drinks came promptly. Ordering food took another hot minute and when we got our so told famous prime rib, we were a tad disappointed. My date got the smaller prime rib and I got the biggest option (more protein, right?). I also opted to pay the extra charge for the twice baked potato. While the food was good, my prime rib came out cold. I had to send it back to be reheated because it seemed like I had reheated it in a microwave. When I got the prime rib back, it was hot, juicy, and amazing! Side note, the salad bar was classic, fresh, and awesome! All-in-all, I would come back, but I wouldn't sit in the bar area and try to enjoy an entree style dinner. Great old school hidden gem to try in Phoenix. Okay, let me be clear - this is not ruth chris, flemings, or any other upscale steakhouse. This is old school 1960's-1970's steakhouse that looks its age with the vintage salad bar in front of an open kitchen to boot. Yes, it needs up grades, fresh carpet, whatever. Still, the steaks we had were great! First off, make a reservation - the place was packed on Saturday night. The owners are there to great you once inside and as we waited for our table guided us to the bar for a cocktail. Drinks from the bar were strong and wine was a large pour. After a 10 minute wait we were seated. The menu is not too big but is mostly meat heavy with some greek dishes peppered in as well. We opted for the ribeye and the prime rib both with twice baked potato (upcharge but worth it!) and salad bar. Salad bar was good, not too big but, at a steakhouse all I care about is how good the meat is so... Steaks arrive and the ribeye is marbled a little more than I would hope but, very tender and juicy - twice baked potato was crazy big - like a small nerf football! The absolute star of the night was the prime rib - awesome. Cut was perfectly cooked and crust was spiced just right. Overall, service was good, the owners were friendly, funny and made us feel like we were visiting their house for dinner. Place had all types of people from regulars, families, couples, suits, etc. It was a very causal atmosphere. FYI - parking can be a challenge too. So yes, the ribeye was good but, I will come back for that prime rib! I've read other reviews and the prime rib wasn't that good - on our night they nailed it!
