1 Star Very disappointing experience with Feldco. I had serious concerns with the door casing and installation process, along with delays and poor communication. I repeatedly had to follow up to get answers and action. One of the biggest problems was that my existing door trim was removed, and I then had difficulty getting Feldco to take accountability for addressing the trim after the installation issues occurred. Eventually, the situation became frustrating enough that I cancelled my order, and the installation was never completed. I understand that issues can happen during home improvement projects. What I don't understand is why the customer has to repeatedly chase the company for communication and accountability after those issues occur. For a company performing work inside someone's home, I expected much better workmanship, communication, and follow-through. I would strongly recommend doing your research before signing with Feldco and asking exactly what happens if the installation isn't completed properly or an existing part of your home is removed during the process. read more

We had both a large window and sliding door/transom replaced by Feldco this year. I'm going to be honest and say there were a few issues, given the extreme height of the existing door. They had to come back several times, but they did come back, which is the real point. They came back consistently until everything was made right, and worked with me to ensure I was satisfied with the end result. The real stars of our experience were Tim in sales; Latoya in scheduling; and Steve, who's job I don't exactly know, but likely a supervisor. I live in a condo and needed to replace six of my windows. In terms of price, especially with the sale that was going on, Feldco was the most competitive for the best product compared to some of the other big companies around here. Like a lot of people mentioned, the sales pitch was pretty aggressive. I expected that. So should you. Having said that, the sales guy was really nice. The only snafu was the pressure to sign that night so that I could get an extra discount in order for him to measure immediately. The sell was that it saves both of us time and money. At any rate, he was good at doing his job. So I can't fault him for that. Here's the thing: the measurement is a pretty new technology. Seems like the company is still trying to get a grip on it. Measurements didn't take and I needed to reschedule, take more time, have somebody else come out. To avoid that, my recommendation is to ask if you can somehow still get the discount and have somebody else come out. Or ask what happens if the measurements don't take and you have to take more of your time to support their business. I was really frustrated by that part of the process, as both the initial meeting and the follow up became more time-consuming than I was ready for. And then I saw all these other reviews and thought there might be some red flags. I really got very nervous. I got and stayed in touch with the company, got very good responses from the sales team. They offered an additional, nominal discount for the inconvenience. I'll share what I shared with them: I would rather they keep the money and just change their practices. Once we figured that part out, it was smooth sailing. Very efficient installation, friendly guys. Tarp & plastic to everything. Thorough in the cleanup. And at this point, I really couldn't be much happier with the product. Time will tell, but so far so good. At the end of the day, I stuck with this company because it was a better product for a better price than I was getting with a lot of the other places. I think it was worth it. This was the first place I called after buying my first home, which still had the original 100 year old windows. A salesman came out and gave an entire spiel, we agreed to change 4 windows and waited on the rest - THANK GOODNESS for that. Because our experience was horrible! First, the salesman gave us a brochure talking about how careful they are when handling old windows, as there is a danger of lead paint. When the guy came to change our windows he didn't even put plastic down. Just charged up and hammered the window out from the outside, which left debris all over the inside of the house I called Feldco immediately complaining, and asking him to stop and send someone else. The person on the phone only cared about one thing - getting the project done right then and there so they could charge me for it. They had a great old time giving me lies over the phone and convincing me the cleaning would be taken care of - they even sent out someone for a different project to say everything will be totally fine etc. I gave the go ahead to finish the project and when I called them asking about the cleanup that was promised by the person on the telephone and the person who came to the house - they literally laughed at me and said they don't do such a thing. This was actually hilarious to them. The windows are bad quality. One window grows frost in the winter, and another is near impossible to open or close - but I will never call this atrocious lying scamming company again. Feldco crew brings 1 year old baby to the job site. This is a long review. The photos are from my neighbor's Ring camera. This is going to be a series of reviews regarding my experience hiring Feldco to install new siding on my house. This has been the worst home renovation experience. Do not ever hire this company to do any work at your house. Two separate Feldco crews did poor workmanship not up to industry standards on my house. The first crew quit after two days because I caught them covering up rotten wood with house wrap on several occasions. The crew boss advised me they were quitting because they did not like me watching them work after I caught them covering up the rotten wood. The second crew was even worse and left my house with holes in the siding. I will share all the pictures of the poor workmanship in future posts. As the title of the post says, the first Feldco crew brought a baby to the job site. Let me explain. The first Feldco crew arrived at my house and not one of the workers spoke English. They were all Chinese. A worker handed me his I phone and a male identified himself as "Ray" the boss. Ray said he was 10 minutes away from my house, and he was stuck in traffic because of an accident and he asked if his crew could start working. I made a huge mistake and allowed them to start working. Shortly after they removed the old siding, I caught the crew trying to cover rotten wood with the house wrap instead of replacing the wood as the contract said they would do. A short time later, a female showed up on the job site with a 1-year-old baby. I went outside and advised the female she could not stay on my property because it was not safe to have a baby on the job site. The female advised me that it was ok and she was there to translate any questions I had for the crew since none of the crew spoke English. I told her to leave my property, but again she refused. I tried several times to telephone the crew boss, but he failed to answer the phone. I called Feldco and complained about the baby being on the job site and catching the crew covering up rotten wood with the house wrap. After asking the female to leave my property several times, she finally left after I threatened to call the police and have her removed. A Feldco representative and the crew boss arrived at my house. I explained to the Feldco representative that I caught the crew placing house wrap over rotten pieces of wood on several occasions and that the crew brought a baby to the job site. The Feldco representative listened to my complaints and asked the crew boss why a baby was brought to the job site. The crew boss stated the baby's father had not seen his baby in several days because he was travelling. The Feldco representative accepted the explanation, and the crew was allowed to continue to work until they quit the next day. After the crew quit, I contacted Feldco and requested the business contact information regarding the first crew, because I was going to report the crew to the authorities for bringing a baby onto the job site. Feldco refused to provide me with any information. The fact that a baby was brought to a construction site shows you the lack of professionalism and common sense from Feldco. When we bought our windows we were told they were guaranteed for life. When I called them to fix the windows I was told they would charge us $100 to come fix them. That's not guaranteed for life! I hired Feldco to replace the soffit, fascia, and gutters on my home, and this has been one of the worst contractor experiences I've had. The project started with what felt like a bait-and-switch. I was offered a "special price if I signed that day," but shortly before installation the price was significantly increased. During the sales process I was told Feldco employees would perform the work, but the installation was done by subcontractors. The workmanship was poor. The installers placed new soffit directly over the existing soffit instead of removing it, which caused the materials to be bent and forced into place. The soffit now bows, separates, and does not sit properly. The fascia was also installed incorrectly and is already coming loose, with fasteners backing out. The gutters were installed improperly and are not pitched correctly. Water pools in the gutters and overflows during rainfall. Multiple contractors have since told me the gutter system installed is undersized for a home of this size, which explains the drainage issues I'm experiencing. During attempted repairs, damage was caused to my roof shingles and drip edge, creating a risk of future water intrusion. The soffit installation also interfered with my bay window, which no longer opens properly. I gave Feldco multiple opportunities (three separate visits) to correct these issues, but the problems were not resolved and in some cases worsened. I ultimately requested a refund so I could hire another contractor to properly fix the work, but Feldco refused. I would strongly recommend doing thorough due diligence before hiring this company. read more

No Show on a scheduled appointment last Saturday 5/9. Waited for 30 minutes before calling their number. I told them that I am leaving my home so make sure to inform whoever was coming. I rescheduled the appointment for Tuesday 5/12 at 3:30 pm. I did not received an email confirmation for the new scheduled appointment. I waited all afternoon and no one called or arrived at my home. It is very disappointing and they wasted my time. Please avoid as much as you can. read more

I purchased three doors--two back doors and one front door. Unbeknownst to me, the salesperson altered my contract by removing the front door without my consent. He sent a revised contract offering us a free service, but hid the fact they removed a door without our approval. Later, after discussing the matter with someone from your company, we were assured that the front door would be added back. They even sent someone to measure the front door. However, when it was time for installation, there was no third door included. Additionally, during the installation process, my security doors were removed. We explicitly told the salesperson that we wanted to keep our doors, but they failed to include this request in the contract. Feldco offered us $600 in compensation, but replacing the doors and covering the additional installation costs was significantly more expensive. I will never do business with your company again. I have shared my experience with others and will continue to do so because your sales team operates unethically. I had windows installed 4 years ago. Had a minor issue with trim detaching in one spot between two windows. Called Feldco and emailed pics. They said it would be $129 to have them come out to fix it, as it is not covered under warranty. So much for their "lifetime limited warranty." Windows were installed 4 years ago. Since I live on a terraced hill my neighbor behind me is spared seeing into my house 24x7 The blinds still let natural light in but work for privacy as well! I plan to replace two more windows and the french door to my 3 seasons room with more of the same. Installer was clearly a master finish carpenter as it was done fastidiously. I do not recommend them to anyone. We got all new windows in our house 2 years ago and yesterday I was washing the windows inside and out and had the top window down to clean it. Well it won't go back up so all night it was open and it got cold. So today I called and someone had to callback and when they did they said it would cost 105.00 service call. Now something is wrong with the window and we were told a few times covered under warranty for life. Well that's a crock cause we have a window that won't go up and its getting cold and gonna rain sat. So very disappointed. And will not ever recommend any more people. read more

I had did an online appointment for them to come give an estimate. First needed to ask all these questions and then ask when I would like an estimate. I gave it to you online 3 days ago. Then when it was time for the estimate. NO ONE SHOWED UP. So I call at 4 asking about where is the person at 330. Oh, there was a mix up in the schedule and they can come in half hour or another day. Excuse me. I took off work to come home for this, then you didn't even call to say no one was coming. Do not use this company. I'll try to be as short as possible. I wanted the gutters, downspout and siding done on my 3 story building. They said that the highest they go is 3 stories so that was fine. I signed the contract and gave them half the money down. I asked if the project would be done by Christmas and they said "yes." I waited and waited. I called and got no answers and my sales person stopped responding. On January 14th the head of a department called me and told me that our building was too high for the work. Why didn't they tell me that after the measurements were taken a while back? Our building look just like other three story buildings? Why did they wait so long? This work needed to be done. The backyard is a safety hazard. It is so slippery because of our broken downspout. They told me my money would be refunded in 5-7 days. That was three weeks ago! No refund so far!!!! I got a head of departments name that said he would at least try to get some answers for me as to at least help with the gutters and downspout. Warning: Avoid Feldco in Chicagoland Feldco in Chicagoland is a nightmare. Their pushy sales reps force intrusive in-person visits and provide no copies of paperwork. Our experience was disastrous: cracked vintage tile, dented windows, and sloppy caulking. Don't forget the buckling vinyl. Check their F rating with the Better Business Bureau. Save yourself the headache and avoid Feldco. See the attached photos of the shoddy work and damage before considering them. Look at the photos we provided, taken hours after installation. Great experience overall with Feldco. The sales rep I worked with was Mike Witt. He was nice, gave us good options, and was timely. We had 4 windows replaced in our condo (2nd floor). 2 installation individuals came to our home & knocked out all 4 in 1 day. The installation occurred on the day we were told. The cost seemed competitive and fair. I've had these windows for 2 months now, and all seems well! I would use them again/refer others. One thing to note was that I tried to get a French door replaced as well & due to my condo setup, they couldn't do it. My salesman guaranteed me a great special financing option. 12 months no interest if paid in full. I was quoted about $13,400 for 11 windows in my home with the buy one get one free window deal. Great. They arrived early and were finished early which was also great. A few weeks later I call to make a payment and come to find out the salesperson, Mario, gave me misinformation and I was going to be charged interest immediately. After playing phone tag I got a higher up on the phone who guaranteed me the 12 months no interest if paid if full. (Finally after playing phone tag and no phone call apologizing from sales rep.) After my financial situation was taken care of about every couple days I've been finding random nails and mini equipment type tools in my front, backyard, and sides of my home that were used when placing the windows in my home. Burn your house to the ground before you call this company. Only gave them one star because you can't give them zero. I guess that's one of the ways that they stay in business. Someone adds up all of those single stars, what that means I have no idea. Apparently they only have five plastic tape covered "wood" samples to try to match to your existing wood. Yes, it's not wood going into you house but laminate!! Crappy, peels off at the joints laminate. After measuring twice the sliding patio door is too short. We were not informed of this and only found out about it at installation. We have a 3 inch strip of wood running across the top of the door. Oh yeah, it's unfinished wood. Just like the trim that they put around the other windows that didn't fit. They tried to tell us that our original windows must have been custom made. If they couldn't fit the openings they should have told us! We were told they couldn't take the windows and back door back because "They already made them." Then why weren't they made to fit??? There is a BIG clue in their commercials that we missed. For QUALITY windows etc. What is your definition of quality? They certainly aren't GOOD quality if they have to add wood to get them to fit. Calls and emails go unanswered. Checked with the Better Business Bureau and they have the lowest rating possible! I feel like a fool for not checking that! I had a unique request of all picture windows except for an egress window in each room that also looks like one pane of glass but rolls/ cranks out. I loved my installer. Had 2 2nd story custom built windows installed. I saw the commercials for years and thought I'd give them a try for a custom project. The install went fine. 1 installer showed up, no helper or assistant which blew my mind. The demo or materials and glass was found all over my yard. Shards of glass spread through out. Large sharp pieces. I contacted feldco multiple times with out a response. I emailed the sales team and install team that helped me with the purchase but they went completely silent after they had my business. I've had Feldco windows installed 10 years ago and they are still looking brand new and perform excellently ! I did have them come out to fix the capping on my patio door from damage that a contractor did to the wood around the door. Feldco tech's David and Wesley were friendly while doing the repair. They covered the entire floor, made sure to clean up after the repair and left my place looking great. Even though it was snowing my floors stayed dry. I had four windows installed by Feldco in May of last year. I've opened the windows maybe two or three times during that time frame. When I opened one of the windows last week, I noticed that there was at least five or 6 inches of the weatherstripping that is supposed to run on side of the inside window pane that had detached and was sticking out the bottom. I called Feldco assuming this would be covered under warranty and was told there would be $100 charge to have someone come out and look at it. This is clearly a defect with their product, and I believe they should not charge people for it. read more

I've used Feldco three times. I've always had issues with installation but they fixed it eventually. This last time is absolutely ridiculous. The installer said he wasn't supposed to do the interior trim/casing that I knew I paid for. And he was heavy handed with the caulk. He came back today to replace the casing. He had the wrong size, then the wrong style. Then he installed it on one window. I go to look and it's a joke. It's so bad it's almost funny. It's not wide enough, then he just filled it in with large amounts of caulk. He started to do the same on the next window until I questioned the job he's doing. He said he doesn't know what I want and left. Now I have to wait almost two weeks for Feldco to just come look at it. read more

I have to say despite all the negative reviews I have seen they did a good job for me. I had windows installed on my front porch and they are big windows which can be expensive. They were about $2000 more than what I had gotten a quote for just materials on. So with labor and markup they were pretty much what I would have expected to cost. Plus they offer zero percent financing through Wells Fargo if paid off in one year which was a nice convenience. The windows are good quality, insulated, double pane sliding windows with screens. Their installers came on time, did their work, and left without any problems. The windows were made in less time than I was originally told which was 6 weeks. They only took 4 weeks. I would use them again most likely. The salesman was a little pushy but not too bad. I would recommend always get at least two quotes, even three if possible. Take into account the quality, warranty, and service. I would gladly pay a little more to have a good warranty on both labor and materials. I probably could have got the job done for maybe $500-1000 less but that would have been no warranty on labor, just materials. And more headaches. Make sure your installer has good insurance too. Its worth it to pay a little bit more to have a company that will answer the phone and work with you if there's a problem. read more

I still to this date have not received anything from FELCO in remedy or correction of their "contractors" negligence in placing my the panel of my patio door in which they drilled into my electrical wiring and now I haven't had access to my patio lights and when I called Feldco management I was told that it was my fault as the homeowner because my electrical wires were not encased correctly and all homeowners should know this - Just shaming me as the customer/client for what Feldco contractors did while installation of my expensive patio door and frame Unbelievable Blamed Me, the homeowner for their Feldco work crew screwing the patio frame into my electrical wiring!!! I'm not sure what representative I spoke to, but they told me directly that if I didn't already have feldco windows, they would not be able to repair or replace my windows. If I could afford to replace my Feldco door, I would. I hate it as much today as the day it was installed more than a year ago. Among the issues: * The biggest issue: It doesn't close completely unless you slam it with your shoulder (from the inside) or pull the door knob with all of your weight (from the outside). They've been out four times to address it. It still sucks. (According to Feldco, this isn't a defect -- it's a feature! I can't wait until the doorknob comes off while I'm trying to shut it, and I go flying down a set of stone stairs. Really looking forward to experiencing that feature.) * They told us that the trim would match perfectly. The trim did not match, and on the third visit we were told that trim wasn't even included in our quote. * The installer was the worst! What kind of door installer shows up without a caulk gun? That said, I regret lending him ours because the caulk job sucked. Among other things that sucked with the door install: it was hung crooked and there was a nail/staple sticking out beneath the weather stripping. On the third service call the guy who came out was the one who originally measured, and the first thing he said was, "I told them that this install needed an experienced installer." * Over the winter, the outside door frame started to buckle. The company told us it was our fault because the threshold is on top of pavers and water can seep in, freezing and causing the doorframe to buckle. I'd note that a) I'm not a window and door professional, so this never occurred to me, but maybe it might have been worth mentioning as a potential problem? Also, b) the last door threshold was over these exact same pavers and in ~20 years never buckled. * Also, their customer service people are -- not very customer service oriented at best and possibly worse. My husband -- who has a very Jewish name and who was the one who placed the order -- told a customer service rep that the door install was "shitty." The customer service person told my obviously Jewish husband that he was Christian and that language is inappropriate. (For the record, I'm Christian and no where in the Bible does it say you can't use the word "shitty" -- and I fully agree that this was a shitty install and a shitty experience all around.) Horrible company. They charge 10 percent just to cancel the contract after trying to get you to spend more money. Then lie again and say they are going to charge you more to cancel. I'm being charged $3,600 just for them to measure my roof and for a consultation. Horrible customer service as well. Save your headache and money and go for a reputable company read more

Our rep was super nice. After looking at the reviews we knew something was up. Looked on Facebook asking for others. The regional Manager started slamming the BBB and other sources of reviews and saying other places went out of business when I had them on the phone coming to quote the business. They use cheap products, charge high costs, 3rd party labor. Sketchy business. Stay away!! read more
