Consistently good experiences with the doctors at this practice, particularly Drs. Shen and Earl.

My Doctor recommended Dr Natalie Earl with the Feldman ENT Group. I called the number on the referral form, that noted an address in Chevy Chase, MD., for an appointment. It was for a Monday at 1:00pm that was about 10 days away. At 10:00am, on the day of the of the appointment, I got a call saying that Dr Earl was not going to be in and could I arrange another appointment with her. There was one open on Friday at 2:20pm of the same week so I said that would be fine. I arrived at the office at 2:00pm only to be told that I was at the wrong office. The receptionist called the correct office and asked if I could come now to that office for the appointment. It was relayed to me that it would be impossible because Dr Earl had to leave. AT NO TIME did anyone I spoke to ever tell me that Dr Earl worked out of 4 different offices of the Feldman Group, or even ask which office I preferred. Disgusted, I told the receptionist that I'll find another Doctor. One star because it won't let you post without one. Should be NONE! read more

This practice bills for services not rendered. When I called assuming it was a mixup, they had the nerve to double down and say if I didn't pay for said services not rendered, the bill would be subject to collections. Total insurance fraud. read more

I knew it could be done. I knew someone could develop a system in a doctors office where the patient doesn't feel like they're the next cow waiting to be slaughtered. Parking in the building was a little congested but it's a big building so I expect it to be. Just park and take the elevator to the 15th floor and when those doors open, ENT heaven is on your immediate left. I was 15 minute late and the receptionist instead of giving me the look of death like most places do sparked up a pleasant conversation that had me laughing. She really set the tone for the rest of the visit. Filled out a 2 minute form, paid my co pay and sat down. Immediately I was called in to an office by Dr. Oringher's assistant where he checked me out, cleaned my ears and asked a bunch of questions. He was very personable and rehearsed in what he was doing and saying which kept me comfortable. Now lets get to the man behind the operation, Dr. Oringher. Super friendly and intelligent. He should teach courses on how to interact with patients. He made me feel like I was the only patient he has seen all week when I can hear that there is a dozen patients waiting to see him. He was knowledgeable and willing to answer all my questions. Go Dr. O. This office had me feeling like a million dollar bill when I left. read more

NATALIE EARLE: Finally a doctor who is expert, personal, friendly, not self-centered and patient oriented. What a breath of FRESH air. Im skeptical of doctors, as most are rude, indifferent and think highly of themselves and their front offices are an extension of their high self-esteem. Feldman's staff was like that too, bu Earle was so refreshingly different, so So SO refreshingly different. read more

The actual doctors are good, but getting a call back, basic information, a referral, forms sent, or even basic instructions is like pulling teeth. For two visits and a referral I've called them countless times, left countless messages (which are almost never returned), and put at least 3 messages through their portal that went unanswered. If I ever have a serious medical issue, I'd want to see them, but for basic treatment, the frustration just isn't worth it. read more

No calls! No follow up! Child seeing allergist for shots that really seem to be helping. I call and even their call system is screwed up. I found a work around and get a wishy washy, "Sorry but we don't have an allergist anymore. You call us when this is all over." Now we lose the already made (expensive) vials of allergen. Not happy! Resting on laurels that long ago withered. They used to be a great practice. Find another group. read more

I I am probably going to find a new provider. I have been going to the Feldman group bigger than a sudden left side hearing loss since April 2019 I developed pneumonia two weeks ago there was an associated change in my hearing for the worse. While hospitalized under treatment and pretty delirious I called the office for help. I got a return call that was totally confused from the physician that had been seeing me it turns out that they do not do hospital visits so I had no ENT assistance with my pneumonia and the hearing loss that came with it. They seem quite happy to sell me multi thousand dollar hearing aids but preventative care of that might involve leaving the office and seeing a patient seems to be on their capacity. I am incredibly upset and I'm using $100 hearing aid from Amazon until such such time as a real audiologist and real ENT can actually evaluate what is going on. Think that the office could actually call the treating physicians at Adventist hospital and determine what is going on so that they could possibly be involved in treatment or preventative care. However that does not generate office visit dollars. They sell fancy hearing aids and they will shoot you full of Cortizone but as for patient treatment in urgent situations you might as well go to urgent care center Their audiology team is quite conscientious and willing to help, but the practice itself on the physician side seems to be totally useless read more

Be aware they charge $250 for a new patient visit. Double check your coverage before going. My insurance did not cover it, so what I thought was a $30 in-network visit was $280 plus. read more

Allergists won't return your calls. I moved in the middle of my allergy treatments. The Chevy Chase office never returned any of my calls. Once they answered the phone and said they were busy and would call me back, and then never did. Very unprofessional way to be treated, especially as an existing patient. read more

They are fantastic. I filled out the pre-registration on my phone so it was super easy. They saw me on the dot at my appointment time - no wait. The office staff is professional and personable, and the doctor's assistants are sensitive and listen. I saw Dr. Mesick - he was professional, direct, knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions with patience. I have had recurring issues for years that he seems to have isolated and then provided solutions for. I am SO glad I decided to come here and make the switch from a different ENT at another practice. read more

Excellent! I went here with a major ear blockage after Urgent Care tried to plunge my ear by succeeded in worsening the problem, filling it with water, and making my ear bleed! Within 10 minutes the Feldman Group cleared up my ear with the proper gentle instrument/vacuum and the provided a thorough exam and hearing test to ensure success. I am extremely grateful to them especially since they were able to fit me in right away due to someone cancellling that morning. i highly recommend these expert professionals! read more

I saw Dr. Shen for sinus infection, laryngitis, clogged ears, coughing, yada yada. I have been there twice and am very pleased with her and the staff, and their knowledge of what they're doing. They were great at answering all my questions, and diagnosing my issues and prescribing the right stuff. Their computers do online ordering to the pharmacy. (Yeah, I know a lot of docs' computers' do -- but it's worth mentioning -- since I didn't have to wait when I went to pick up the drugs at the pharmacy.) And Dr. Shen even has evening hours -- what a dream! read more

From personal experience with 2 of my children and from all we've heard from other parents, Bruce Feldman is a wonderful surgeon for caringly attending to children. I will always recommend Bruce Feldman for surgery for children. But, I cannot recommend his office for anything requiring a follow-up for any other services his office offers. All the doctors I've seen there are most competent, but I cannot get a call back. I truly believe the doctors do not get messages. I've tried in person and the person taking my note seems put out and I do believe did not keep my note. read more

Wish I could give 0. Decided that after 2 years, I had enough and didn't want to deal with them anymore and was happy to put this bad experience behind me. I'm also not convinced that the allergy treatment helped at all, and after two years would have to spend $750 on another allergy test. The week after I decided not to continue, I get a letter from a debt collection agency. Two months after paying off the balance, Feldman ENT incorrectly sent my account to collections for $170. This is after 2 years a patient and paying them thousands of dollars out of pocket, and they didn't even call me before doing it. I've filed a complaint with The District of Columbia Health Regulation and Licensing Administration as well as the Better Business Bureau. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Natalie Earl now in the DC office for about 6 months. Dr. Earl gets an automatic 5 stars! She is a great doctor - knows her stuff and also has a great personality and bedside manner. She pretty much diagnosed me with a thyroid problem as soon as she walked in the door, without even touching my neck (I guess it was that noticeable!). I had numerous tests done and she was always the one to call herself with the results and to discuss the next steps with me. I ended up needing to have half of my thyroid removed and she was the surgeon who performed that procedure. The front office seems to be hit or miss - sometimes they are nice and sometimes are grouchy. If you are calling for something other than an appointment, it is near impossible to get through to someone without having to leave a message. While I get perturbed when I can't speak to a live person, they are good about calling you back within the same business day or the next day (if you happen to call later in the day). I was just there recently for a post-op visit and the DC office is undergoing a renovation. That was also the first time that I had to wait more than 20 minutes to be seen (granted, I usually tried to get early morning appointments and on this occasion they were squeezing me in since it was a post-op appointment made just days before). I hope that's not a sign of the "new" changes coming to the office. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Earl, but you may need some patience with the office staff! read more

For years I suffered from chronic sinus infections and someone recommended this group. The practice is very busy. My doctor was Dr. Jerome Schwartz. We hit a rocky patch in the beginning because I didn't think he was communicating effectively with me about my follow up treatment. On the advice of my friend who is a doctor, I called the office manager and clearly explained what my expectations were for Dr. Schwartz. We had no problems after that. He performed sinus surgery on me and -- from what I can tell -- did a great job. My sinuses are clear for the first time and I have regained my sense of smell. After that initial hiccup with him, I found him to be a very attentive and knowledgeable doctor. I gave the practice three stars because I like and trust him, but I would give the practice in general two stars -- not fabulous, not terrible but I didn't love it. read more

Good doctor and good medical experience but the management of the overall practice is a chaotic nightmare. It is impossible to contact anyone to arrange follow up appointments. Today I have been on hold for 45 minutes (and still holding) while trying to obtain a prescription refill. The phone tree offers the possibility of leaving a message - but then cuts you off if you make that selection. Inexcusably bad service. read more

Let me preface this by saying: I have a LOT of experience with ENTs. I had my first sinus surgery when I was 9 years old. I've had 2 more surgeries since then to correct swelling and polyps. I have tried everything available to me to stop recurrent sinus infections. When my current ENT was unavailable and I was very sick, I came here. That was a huge mistake. Be aware, before you go, the doctors here see you as nothing more than $$$ in their pocket (and I've seen a LOT of doctors, so keep that in mind). I have had multiple appointments cancelled due to "overdue bills." The first time, someone else had written my address incorrectly and in 4 months, not a single person called or emailed or anything to ask why their bills kept being returned. So I had to pay over the phone before I could make an appointment. They told me this was my fault because the address was wrong. Believe it or not, I know my own address, where I live and pay a mortgage, and am certain I wrote it correctly. I just had another emergency appointment (for a sinus infection) cancelled due to an "overdue bill" - but get this... the bill is "due to be sent next week." So, my appointment is being canceled until I pay some random amount and provide my credit card number having never seen what it's for or how the charges are broken down. When I tried to understand this backwards, bizarre way of treating patients, the rude woman on the phone in billing YELLED at me loud enough that my coworkers in my office HEARD IT!! I asked her to please stop yelling at me, and she continued, so I hung up. Based on these other reviews, it sounds like many people have had similarly great encounters with her. In addition to these issues, Dr. Schoenfeld informed me at a previous visit that a culture he'd taken was negative and everything looked great. Well, I've dealt with enough doctors by now to know not to trust that... I got the notification in my Labcorp inbox a couple weeks ago that the sample had never been tested because the container used was expired. So the doctor LIED TO MY FACE, then refused to see me until I fork over whatever amount of money they decided was appropriate, and I am not allowed to see what/why/when these charges accumulated (and must pay them before all other patients...guess I'm special). I won't be going back, and I wouldn't suggest this place to my worst enemy. read more

I arrived today for my 12:50pm appointment promptly at 12:50 and within 10-15 minutes filled out the necessary paperwork, and had them take my copay, insurance, and photo ID. When I asked if the doctor was on time, the receptionist said he was on time and I would be taken back in 5 minutes. 10 minutes later, a nurse brought me into a room and told me that I should have received a call because the doctor was called into a surgery earlier in the day, which is why he was running late. The nurse told me it would be exactly 8 minutes until the doctor would be in. 8 minutes later, at 1:40 (about an hour after my appointment) I left. When I asked the receptionist why I hadn't been notified, she responded that she had no idea that the doctor was called into surgery. I wasted over an hour of my own time and would not recommend this practice to anyone. It is such a shame that doctors take advantage of patients like this. read more

I called and left a few messages to try and fix the problem but never received a call back. I called and finally talked to someone and got nothing but attitude. The office manager was just as bad. I've been suffering from chronic sinus pain/migraines, to the point where my voice has changed due to the sinus issues. Dr. Mesick met with me for maybe 10 minutes, which only lasted that long because he had one foot out the door during our entire visit and wasn't paying attention to what I was saying. He immediately brought in the allergy doctor which was a complete scam and waste of time. VERY unhappy with Dr. Mesick, and regret that I have to actually pay any money to this practice. read more

I have been a vertigo patient of Dr. Mesick for one year now. Yesterday morning, I called to schedule an appointment, but he was unavailable until next week. Because I needed to be seen sooner, I was scheduled for yesterday afternoon with Dr. Schoenfeld. Typically, there is very little wait when I see Dr. Mesick. Yesterday, I sat in the waiting room for 40 minutes because Dr. Schoenfeld was "running behind." When Dr. Schoenfeld finally came into the exam room and I began to explain my issue, he interrupted me to tell me that he does not treat vertigo and that I should not have been scheduled with him. He told me to talk to the front desk and left the room. I was stunned. The care that I receive from Dr. Mesick is phenomenal, so I was not expecting to be treated so poorly by another doctor in the practice. When I got back to the front desk, I was again told that I should not have been scheduled with Dr. Schoenfeld. They offered to reschedule me for another day with a doctor who does treat vertigo. To their credit, they were quite apologetic. However, in situations such as these, apologetic doesn't compensate for the rudeness of others and time/money lost by taking time off work. Of course, my $60 copay had been collected upfront, and I was told that the only person who could approve a refund was gone for the day. To say that I was displeased is an understatement. This morning, I attempted to contact the individual who is able to refund the copay and ensure that my insurance is not billed, since I did not see a doctor or receive treatment. I was told that he does not come in until 10:00 am and that he would be given the message to contact me. They could not definitively tell me that he would contact me before close of business today. My issues with this experience are multi-faceted. First, I have become accustomed to being treated with respect as a patient at this practice. This experience is upsetting, because it is not what I have come to expect from my visits there. Secondly, as a patient/consumer, I should not be working so hard to recover my copay and ensure that my insurance is not billed. That should be done automatically and promptly, since the error was on the side of the practice. Beyond this, I am now left feeling helpless and uncared for as a patient, since no one with authority seems to be interested in the issue. The bottom line for me, it appears, is that the care patients receive from this practice is inconsistent. I want to believe that this is an isolated event and that the practice will do what is necessary to correct the issue. I want to continue to be able to schedule with confidence to see Dr. Mesick. However, I am left wondering what future interactions with this office may look like, and the thought is unsettling. read more

Had symptoms of a sinus infection and the physician's assistant indicated that a laryngoscopy was necessary for diagnosis. I inquired whether this would be covered by insurance, to which he assured me that it would be as this was medically necessary. Of course insurance did NOT cover it as a normal office visit and I was required to pay a large additional copay. Unbelievable greed. And it backfired too. They may have gotten an extra 100 bucks out of me, but they could have billed insurance for a lot more than that if I had come back for a second visit, which I will of course never do. By the way this was doctor Jack B Williams. Avoid him, and avoid their entire practice. read more

My husband and I took our 16-month old daughter to the downtown Washington, DC practice on 19th Street; we were referred to Dr. Jack Williams by our pediatrician. Dr. Williams is the absolute best doctor my daughter has seen. He's funny, smart, personable and knowledgeable. We completed the paperwork online so we didn't spend much time in the lobby. When we got there we were the only people waiting to be seen. Others came later but the lobby wasn't overflowing with people who had been waiting past their appointment time. After about 15-20 minutes we went back to a room. After seeing two preliminary assistants, Dr. Williams came in and what a joy he is! He's super kid-friendly. He came into the room laughing and playing, so much so that my daughter didn't mind him looking in her ears and nose. That was a first! He went over every detail of what goes on in a child's ear development and what we can expect in the future. He was outstanding and I would highly recommend him to any/every parent! read more

I have been a chronic sinus sufferer my whole life. I made an appointment to see Dr. Oringher at the Bethesda location. The office experience was great. The staff was kind and professional. Dr. Oringher was very careful in his assessment and tried to treat my sinus infections before suggesting surgery. Dr. Oringher did a great job in explaining all the details of my surgery and recovery. He really knows how to put you at ease. This surgery was a life changer for me. I am 6 months out and symptom free. I would highly recommend Dr. Oringher and The Feldman ENT Group. read more

Mark Dettelbach is a very good MD. The telephone staff is beyond rude. I told him that I had had Coronavirus and was well past quarantine and he started shouting at me and said they needed to protect their practice and hung up on me. My family MD saw me after I told him the story and he provided me with immediate assistance and medication. read more

My first visit here was great. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. My 2nd visit I was taken back for a test, and before I agreed, I asked if this would be covered under a normal office visit charge and was assured yes. It obviously wasn't, they refused to agree I was misinformed (even though they have the ability to waive charges) and I was responsible for payment when the nurse was giving out incorrect information. It's a shame, they only cared about those charges and not my future business. I will not be seeking care here again. read more

The 1 star is a nod to Dr Natalie Earl, who performed successful surgery on me in 2014, removing a malfunctioning salivary gland. I think the world of her expertise and care. The remaining zero stars go to the Group's policy, and customer service (or lack thereof) for this morning's call for an appointment. The space where the salivary gland was, and the duct that exits under the tongue, were infected a couple of days ago, and so I visited Righttime two days ago and received some meds. Things got worse and to the point of not being able to eat or swallow without 9 out of 10 on the pain scale. I checked back in with Righttime, and was told by them to call my ENT people and get an appt ASAP before it got worse. This morning I called. Dr. Earl was in surgery most of the day, but Marvin, who was my customer service help, suggested a 3:30p appt at the DC location with Dr Shinn, who I had seen once. I jumped on the appt obviously. Once I gave him my DOB and he looked up my file, however, he said that I was a "new patient" and I could not have the appointment anymore. The only appt available, now, for "new patients" was in Germantown, in twenty minutes. I explained that with no traffic, I would not make it in that time, and I may be 10-15 minutes later than the scheduled time. Marvin said sorry we can't help you then. Now explain to me how myself and my insurance company combined spent over ten thousand dollars on the appts and surgery in 2014, but now I am a "new patient"... I called 8-10 other ENT offices since this morning's call to Feldman Group, and I struck out on all but two of them, but the lesson learned here is that every single one of those other offices treated me like I was a human being, and their patient, not a new one. read more

Let me start by saying that doctors in private practice run for-profit businesses. They also make an enormous amount of money while enjoying unquestioned respect in our country, regardless of the quality of their work, unethical individual behavior and institutional norms, and rampant practice of discrimination against women and minorities. For this reason, it's time to stop separating reviews of one aspect of doctors' businesses from another and ignoring when their overall services are unacceptable. I've been to Feldman ENT and received decent consultation on my medical problems in the past. However, as a business, Feldman ENT is a failure. Unfortunately, that is all-too-common in the healthcare industry. Most recently, I made an appointment through ZocDoc with Natalie Earl. After it was confirmed, I received a notice saying that Feldman ENT wished to reschedule my appointment for 40 minutes later. I wrote back that I couldn't accept a reschedule, because I had a very important meeting after my appointment. I said I would plan to show up at the time that I had scheduled and that they should let me know if they were going to be unable to see me at that time. I showed up 10 minutes early for my original appointment and checked in. While I was waiting, another woman got up and said she had an important meeting and could they make sure she was seen on time? They said "sure, no problem." I thought "I'd better do the same," and so I told the front desk rep. about my appointment time, the email I'd received, and my meeting. She said "no problem, you'll be next." Unfortunately, I was not next. They took at least 5 more patients before I even got out of the waiting room, and then they sat me in the exam room for 20 minutes while Natalie Earl took 2 additional patients before me, while I watched. (I opened my exam room door to make sure they didn't forget me.) At 10 minutes before I had to leave for my meeting -- over an hour and 15 minutes since I'd arrived, I went to the nurses' station to complain. They shrugged and disavowed any responsibility, of course, and refused to do anything. I went out to the front desk representative, and she also shrugged and disavowed any responsibility, blaming the doctors and the nurses and saying that neither the scheduling nor the communications nor the timeliness of services were her responsibility or even of interest to her. She did the classic "don't blame me, I just work here," completely failing to understand or care that she represents a for-profit company and that it is not the customer's job to go hunting around for why a business fails to provide a service that the customer has paid for. I asked for my money back, since the front desk rep. had already charged my insurance company and taken my co-pay. She refused, saying that I could work it out with the billing office. She, of course, refused to call the billing office and work to get my money back herself. She wanted me to spend even more of my own time and money trying to retrieve the money that I had paid them for a service that I did not receive. In addition to having lost the time and money to get to the appointment and wait for over an hour and get back from the appointment. Customer service people who don't understand or care that they represent a for-profit company are the worst. But doctors who don't understand that that customer's time is just as valuable as their own, that their customers are paying for a service, and that they have duty just like any other business owner to provide the service that a customer is paying for are also the worst. Please note that while Feldman ENT eventually shifted to blaming ZocDoc for their scheduling, I was informed by ZocDoc that Feldman is under contractual obligation to maintain an accurate schedule online and to fulfill the appointments that are booked through the service. Moreover, if Feldman ENT wanted to reschedule my appointment, they should have called me personally until they were able to confirm with me that a rescheduled appointment was possible or to come up with an alternative that worked for both of us. Their front desk representatives should have been honest with me about when I would be seen, and they should have worked to make sure I was seen in a timely fashion so that I could get to my meeting. When they failed to do so, they should have offered to give me my money back and coordinated the work of getting my money back to me themselves. The nurses should have not copped out of responsibility for what was going on in their practice, and neither should the front desk staff. The doctors should run a business that respects its clients. So however good Natalie Earl may be in terms of providing medical consultation, her business is incapable of providing acceptable service to its customers overall. read more

I have been with this group over 20,years. It used to be fabulous. Now it is like a drive thru. You get 5 minutes time with the doctor, and last time the doctor was even abrupt. They are always crowded with a long wait to see the doctor. Find another practice. read more

I have been a patient of this practice for more than 25 years. The doctors are very good. Some are excellent. Four have performed surgery on me and my children. I trust them. But the good ends there. It's often impossible to get a person on the phone. Wait times are consistently 45 minutes plus. A routine visit to the Chevy Chase office can turn out to be a half day affair. When my son needed surgery they sent us to the surgery center they own. I'm generally OK with doc-owned surgery centers. They can be better than hospitals in many ways. But in this case I ran into huge hassle they could have and should have avoided. The anesthesiologist they use at their surgery center doesn't accept my insurance (which almost everyone accepts, including the Feldman ENT group and the surgery center itself). But they didn't tell me that in advance. In fact, they never told me. I figured it out only by reading closely the fine print they asked me to sign at 5:30 am on the morning of the surgery when I had already taken my son out of school and the day off work. Sneaky or just an oversight? I don't know. But it should never have happened. We haggled, but I was captive at that point. Ultimately, even with big concessions by the surgery center my out of pocket cost was several hundred dollars more than it should have been. And if I hadn't read the fine print I would have been on the hook to pay the anesthesiologist a small fortune. Other than that . . . their surgery center is great. No complaints, other than that small matter of hundreds of dollars. At this moment I'm about to miss an important meeting with one of my own clients because they are running (as always) vastly behind schedule. Yes, I PLANNED for them to be vastly behind schedule and it's even worse today. I know things can go off schedule in a professional practice. It happens. But this place never, ever seems to be on time or anywhere close to it. Oh, and I get annoying email spam from this practice pushing hearing aids and other things I don't need. It's really, really, really annoying. I've got decades of records and history with this group. It used to be wonderful. The docs are very good. But that's not enough. The overall experience (including out of control wait times) is unacceptable. Two stars for very good docs. Everything else is less than zero. read more

I made and appointment and I was told to arrive 15 minutes early. They charged my credit card right at checking in. 60 minutes later I still was not seen by the doctor. I understand that offices are overbooking but letting a patient sit in a room for 40 minutes is disrespectful. My time is as valuable as the the doctors time. When I told them I don't have more time to sit around any more the answer was: "The doctor will be with you shortly" Not a single apology... read more

Terrible. Nobody answers the phone every time I call the Chevy Chase office. I have to be on hold for an hour every time and some of the office staff are incompetent and rude. It's a shame because Dr. Dettlebach is a really great doctor. read more
