Heard decent reviews about company , needed a smaller chimney replaced on my small cape home .. 2 young guys came over , set up scaffolding , 1 guy on roof doing the work , took about 5 hours max ... tear down chimney and erect new chimney .. After job was done was told , need new flue ... after waiting for that estimate finally received it $2500 more after paying $2800 for the chimney ... Had that company come over beforehand look at chimney never told me it needed a flue ... Also they reused old tin cap and assembly on top and now it looks bent after reinstall ! Just can't believe $2800 for 5 hours work , what do bricks and a little mortar cost ? Grant it something I can't do , only because of my age ! Understand costs of running a business and making a profit and having a couple of 25 year old kids , I expected at least a whole new tin cap and everything new ... Should have been told about flue as when the chimney was first looked at .... All I can say do homework get a few more estimates ! Will get other quotes on a flue ! read more

When we bought our house we had been told that we would likely need our chimney repointed as it looked like there were a few bricks crumbling and falling out. We had a hard time finding places that would come to our home in Genesee county, being too far away from Buffalo or Rochester so that some companies wouldn't come out. Felgemacher was one of 2 companies we had. They were a bit pricier, however when they came out for their estimate they actually went up on the chimney to get a close inspection. They did recommend fixing the crown too, and with the combined job we saved the sales tax and made the cost of the tuckpointing pretty much the same as the other place. The other company did not go up to our roof, just viewed it from the ground. I also wanted the mortar redone on our porch, so I asked our rep about it and he took some pics and said it actually works out good as with chimneys there is dry time and they could work on the porch during the wait time which could save us money. About a week after they came out I still hadn't received an estimate. I followed up and after a few more days got the estimate, but it didn't include the porch, it took multiple times to contact them to try to get that sorted out. After weeks I got a call that they are too busy, already booking out for weeks so that they aren't doing porches at all, just chimneys. Now that is fine, but they could have just said that, and also if they said they could do the porch during the wait then I don't quite understand. Maybe you wouldn't do porch only jobs but it didn't make sense to me. I really debated whether the crown was necessary or not, and if the pricing was good, and I was a bit frustrated about not hearing back and having to follow up so much myself, but we did go with them. They had estimated it could be into October before they got to us, but I got called the Friday before Labor Day saying they could come out. They set up scaffolding but that was all they could do. They came back and finished on Tuesday. The workers seemed good when they were here. Being up on the roof and where the angle is it is hard to see how good a job it is, but overall I was satisfied and hope we made the right decision. read more

From the office staff answering all my questions and keeping me informed to the masons who worked at my home the entire experience was wonderful. Fireplace cleaning, inspection, new flue liners (in both furnace and fireplace), crown and tuck point, etc.. The workers were respectful of my home, did an excellent job, cleaned up and paid attention to all the small details that you want when you hire a contractor. Had gas fireplace inserted and faulty chimney bricks replaced. Ordered 9/7/22. Performed 11/8/22. Insert did not quite fill opening so metal facing ordered and installed 2/6/22 and had required many phone calls to get it done. Cleansing of old stains on brick was not as successful as promised. I love the insert. Overall the service was competent and professional. Requires waiting. I would recommend them and would use them again. Disappointing experience from a few perspectives. The son of the owner of the company seemed like a nice guy and enthusiastic and to be sure they did get to the job sooner than they might have because it was holding up other work (there's the stars). Two small chimneys were to be rebuilt. There was a third that was going to get knocked down and I intended to do it myself. The mason told me that Felgemacher would tear it down "for $800". Then he dropped the offer to $600. I said no. (A couple weeks later I tore it down in 1 1/2 hours and tossed the debris in a dumpster I had on site. The dumpster cost $200 and I had a couple of tons of stuff in it. Felgemacher had their own trailer so tonnage and travel time only. Nice way to make a quick $600-$800!!) I had asked them later to replace a lintel on the site and they never did. The two men who did the work were pretty unfriendly. Any maybe it was pure coincidence but the last day they were there I had a 20' fiberglass ladder, 300 lb. duty rating, disappear from a backyard completely surround by a 6' high stockade fence. read more

We had a very unfortunate event with this company. I had mentioned to them my father had passed away in Dec 21 and the chimney has not been used or cleaned in 9-10 years. The Gentleman did not tarp off the fire place and the fire place soot came out of the fire place covering our house with 1-2in thick soot. He began to clean it up with out notifying anyone because we were sitting outside. The soot was all over the house, floors walls carpet. It was awful. After speaking with Wendy she said they would do whatever they could to make this right. We then started to work with Lori in this claim. We have two little kids in the home. Stanley steamer came out three days later! They cleaned the carpets but the stains were to deep to get out. They said they would replace the carpets, well inflation happens and we had a quote for 4k. Again we didn't ask for this. The company had another quote about the same. Then they back tracked with what they said the insurance company would only Cover 1700$ so the gave us what the insurance company would Give them not even close to being able to replace the carpets along with us having to clean the entire home. My mother using her own gas To travel to multiple carpet stores to pick out carpet. Then not evening having them replaced. We are still finding soot on walls and baseboards and having to paint the Ceiling because the soot was all over. Then they finally sent my mother a check made out to my Deceased father! Are you kidding me. Talk about a slap in the face. They never once dealt with anyone under his name. Just my mother and I and they have the audacity to do this. I have never been more disgusted with costumer service in my life and we own our own company! I would never recommend this company to anyone. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

He did a great job cleaning it and inspecting to ensure everything was working properly. There are positive and negatives. The positive is that they performed what appeared to be a very thorough exam. The two men were very friendly and knowledgeable. They basically recommended nearly complete reconstruction of the chimney . The negative was the cost of $25,000 when other estimates did not propose the same and were in the $10,000 range. When I called them to cancel ( I knew I would lose the $200 deposit), and told them that I could not afford the $25,000, they said I could finance the work . read more

They came for estimate, on my chiminey and I was told I need a new liner, but they never followed up. Even after 2 emails and a phone call from me. When I called (the secind time) the receptionist said someone would get back, but they never did. Flat out blew me off. Very unprofessional! read more

I had requested repairs to my chimney and paid my deposit in March of 2022 and was told that the work would​ be completed by they provided the weather was good. We have had the driest summer ever and after multiple phone calls it took them until August to finally come out to do the repairs. While the work was good, their ability to respond and keep commitments is extremely poor. This negatively impacted the sale of my home and I would not recommend this company. If you are in any hurry to have repairs done. I will admit they are very quick to request their payment and have had multiple phone calls about that when they were unable to return any phone calls. When I was calling about scheduling they have the repairs done. It would look for another vendor in Rochester if you're in need of chimney repairs. read more

I called them multiple times to get someone to come over for an estimate. I took time off my work to be home at the time of appointment but the person from this company never showed up. When I called them back, I was told that the guy doing estimates just left for home early !! I was then told that the lady setting up an appointment is unavailable but will call back the next day. She did call me back after 2 days only to say that she is calling to apologize for miscommunication but will need to call me again the next day to set up and appointment. I am still waiting for that call. From missed appointments , inability to follow up to being late/ unresponsive, this organization has exhibited a talent for dropping the ball. If the dysfunction and apathy in front office is any indication, you hard earned money would definitely be spend somewhere else. I am done with this company. read more

First, I'd give this company more than 5 stars if I could. For three years I looked at a crack chimney cap that was in bad shape. I finally released I needed to call someone. There are a lot of choices, but after a lot of research, this company was the best choice I had made. They know chimneys! John, came out on Time, was honest, explained why my cap and bricks were failing. I had about 40 bricks that the faces were falling off? John explained that the acid from the hot water heater was causing this condition, due to the chimney flue was shot. I need to add, our house was built in 1948. Johns crew took down our chimney and started to rebuild. Once they got into it, John called me and said that I had had a chimney fire. I didn't realize this. John had said their were vertical cracks and that's a chimney fire. He recommended I call my insurance company and get their opinion, which I did. After John explained to the insurance company that a vertical crack is the only explanation for a chimney fire, they agreed to cover it. I went from what I thought was a simple replacement of a cap, to a total 8 feet chimney rebricking, to a new stainless liner on the hot water tank side, to a fire place relining. This company is so professional and keeps you up to date on the job. There is so must labor involved to rebuild a chimney. If you need any type of brick work, this is the company I highly recommend. I had this company do a free estimate on a house I was about to buy. He did just that and I got that price off of the price. I left for training and they never came when they said they would and ditched me two more times on top of that because I was a small residential job. Not worth the time I told them I was displeased and wanted to go to another company. The son gave me attitude and basically hung up on me. Do not go through them. I had the company come out to clean and inspect 2 chimneys, but of which I knew the dampers were rusted and had broken hinges. They were in an out of the house in 25 minutes, said that one chimney didn't need to be cleaned but didn't have a single issue, and the other they did a "full" cleaning and didn't have any issues. I have a feeling a full inspection on 2 chimneys and a cleaning should take more then 25 minutes, and to say there weren't any problems but there clearly are?!? Not very trust worthy...Oh and the guys VM said he wouldn't be available for a call the rest of the day, he came to my house at 3PM on a Friday so I was supposed to be the last appointment. Sounds like he wanted to cut the day short and cut my service short as well... read more

About 1 1/2 years ago, I started shopping around for estimates. After researching local Masonry companies who specialize in chimneys, I contacted Felgmacher Masonry. We had just had our driveway widened via blacktop prior to the day that John came to our residence. As such, that part of the driveway was flagged off to prevent anyone from driving on it. When John pulled into our driveway, he pulled in through the part of our blacktop that was not flagged (as that part was not recently blacktopped). When I saw this, I immediately ran outside to tell him to get off the freshly installed blacktop so it didn't get damaged. As I told him this, he looked at me and said that it should've been flagged. I told him to look and that it was flagged. After he looked, he was like "sorry" so do I still want the estimate. I said yes but please remove his truck off our fresh blacktop. In the final analysis, we did not hire Felgemacher Masonry and his company truck did in fact leave a divot and damaged our new blacktop driveway. As such, he was aware of the damage and didn't even offer to get it repaired or anything. Regardless, I had our paving company come back out and they patched it but it still shows as it doesn't blend with the rest of driveway. Accordingly, I never pursued anything against the company as to me, they're simply not worth my time. This company is very unprofessional and I would not recommend anybody hire them. read more
