We chose this school because it was close to home, not a religious preschool, has experienced teachers, and is competitive in price when Montessori often demands a premium. It was actually the only preschool we ever toured, the decision was so easy to make. Our son attended all four years available, from 2015-2019. He was a very shy child (has outgrown that!) and didn't deal well with change, so we were pleased he was able to be in one preschool/kindergarten for so long. He now attends the charter school Community Montessori and is absolutely thriving. After he finished kinder, we came back two years in a row for summer camp, which is another wonderful offering that they have. My family has had such a wonderful experience with Felicita Montessori School. My son and daughter have both attended for over a year now. They're excited to go, and always talk about the fun time they had when they come home. The staff is friendly and professional. They also keep us updated with report cards and projects. If you care about your child's emotional, psychological, and physical well-being, you should NOT consider trusting this facility to care for your child. We had so many bad experiences with the staff, especially the owners/directors, that we had to pull our child out. I absolutely love this school. Both of my kids went for 3 years. Before deciding on a school I did lots of research and this one stood out. The teachers are all very kind and loving. Often, when I would my kids up they or another kid would be sitting in teacher's laps. Often on days I picked my daughter up late she would come home with a fancy braid in her hair. I love the location. It's in an old house and feels hidden and secure. It's fabulous that it's between houses with large walls. One reviewer mentioned that it wasn't good for working Moms, but I disagree. I worked and so did all parents I knew during those 6 years. You can bring kids as early as 6 I believe and pick up as late as 6 so the hours easily accommodate the average 9-5 work day. They also offer a few fun extra activities during the school day, which my kids enjoyed. I would highly recommend this school. read more

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this preschool. The director refused to allow an Escondido Union School District employee to work with my child on campus. Her reasoning was due to risk of COVID exposure, despite being fully vaccinated and practicing current protocols. I can understand not allowing parents/caregivers on campus, but to allow this to interfere with a child's education is unacceptable and a red flag. read more

I'm so thankful for this school for my family. We couldn't have felt better about this experience. We moved him from another school to Felicita as soon as a spot opened up for him. He learned so much more than just school readiness. His problem solving and communication skill improved a lot. His shoes cam home with sand and leaves. And he picked oranges and limes and funny rocks out of his lunch box and pockets daily. He came home with art work daily, rested as needed. He felt loved and noticed and made friends with kids whose families have shared values and work hard. I work full time and the environment is clean, child centered, and age appropriate. I'm a teacher too so I can tell the program is strong. Ms. Michaels will always be special to us. In summer program they allow older siblings to attend and make curriculum geared towards their interests! read more

My daughter attended Felecita Montessori School for preschool. She was there two years before starting kindergarten. She loved her teachers and overall had a great experience there. She was well prepared for her kindergarten class and even asked to come back this summer for camp. The teachers are all great and I would recommend this school to everyone. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school. First and foremost, my kids love it and they love all of the teachers, every single teacher and adult that works there is great. We were beyond lucky to find this school and I'm just so impressed with them. My kids always come home with projects and tell me stories about what they do that day. I'm so thankful for this preschool. My daughter attended preschool here for two years and now my three year old son is starting in September. My kids have also attended summer camps here. Actually, my 5 year old daughter prefers summer camps here over the YMCA swim camp I put her in this summer!!! This is a special place for my kids, where they feel loved and safe. The teachers are all great. It's priceless for working parents to be able to drop their children off for the whole day and know the staff will ensure they eat their lunch, get enough rest, and have fun. When we drop my son off early they have his favorite building toy waiting for him. He's so excited to start school here and my 5 year old wants to spend her summers here with her friends and brother. My children had an amazing experience at this school! The educators are highly trained and very experienced. My 5 year old learned to read and write and is absolutely prepared for kindergarten. I did not like the way my son was treated at this school. I've heard teachers talk to the children in inappropriate ways. One time, I heard the teacher tell the children that their work is not for imagining and it was only for work. Imagination is the greatest and most important skill of a preschooler. I would get phone calls for stupid things when he was only 3. For example, he was playing under the table and not listening so I had to come pick him up. I had to leave my work to pick him up. I also had to pick him up one time because he peed outside in a bush. He was 3 and a boy. I mean isn't that what you're paying for, to help cultivate a preschool mind. At one point, one of the teachers proceeded to tell me that something was wrong with my son in front of other parents. It prompted me to have a series of tests run, which nothing was wrong. In fact, he's now a thriving 2nd grade boy who is brilliant and getting perfect grades. Toward the end of our enrollment at Felicita, he was 5, he began to bite his nails and get so anxious about going there that he would throw up before. There are some teachers that are sweet, but there are others that really should consider NOT working with preschool aged children. By the time my son graduated, I realized it was not my son and I felt terrible for keeping him there as long as I did. In fact, after 3 years of enrollment, they didn't even say his name right at his graduation. Obviously I'm still so unsettled that I'm finally wiring a review 2 years later. read more

My rating is more like a 4.5, the school is really good, but not completely perfect. My son has been attending Felicita Montessori for almost 1.5 years. The person who wrote the negative review is not at all correct about the teachers only wanting money. My son is in the 3 year old class now, and his teachers are very kind and loving towards him and the other students. When my son first started I was on occasion concerned about the stern tone that some of the teachers took with him when they were trying to get his attention. What I have come to realize is that my son literally does not hear adults sometimes if they don't speak to him in that tone. The one teacher who I would consider the most "stern" also definitely has very loving moments, too. One day when I came to pick my kiddo up he had fallen ill, and when I walked in this "stern" teacher was holding him and rocking him while he slept. I have seen her hold the kids' hands and stroke their backs during naptime. She is also very creative and organized, and comes up with great crafts and activities for the kids. All of the teachers here have different gifts and different drawbacks, they compliment each other very well, and I have a positive/ friendly relationship with all of them. As far as cost, of the schools that I considered the price was in the mid to high range, BUT their student to teacher ratio is outstanding. By law one teacher can care for twelve 2 year-olds; that's crazy to me (maybe because my son is a "runner"). The ratio at Felicita Montessori is approximately 1 teacher/ assistant teacher to every 8 kids (and they also split another staff member between all 4 classrooms). The school only has about 50 kids and is housed in a converted home with a great backyard that has become the playground. I love that all of the teachers know my child's name, and I have gotten to know parents and kids of all ages. The inside of the school is cute and bright, and the playground has a bunch of great play equipment, sandbox, basketball hoop, and garden, in addition to some really nice trees. Like the negative reviewer, I also didn't love that they don't feed them lunch, but most places that do feed them pizza and other things that I wouldn't consider the healthiest option (or my kiddo wouldn't eat them). They do provide healthy snacks daily and fun special activities during the year at no extra cost. My biggest negative issue may or may not be fair, but their hours are really geared towards teachers, stay at home parents, or people who work nearby. They do have extended hours, but even those wouldn't accommodate my schedule without having a family member or nanny do pick up if I found a full time job that wasn't in Escondido. However, it is considered a preschool, not a daycare center. As far as attendance scheduling, they are very flexible when it's possible, and have allowed us to change my son's schedule multiple times to accommodate me. I plan on keeping my son here until kindergarten unless something comes up that will require longer hours of care. If that were to happen I would definitely miss the teachers and families at this school. read more

(3/13/17 Update) It's been a few years since I wrote my review on Felecita so I wanted to write an update. My son is now in kindergarten and he's way ahead of the class in reading, writing and math. He is reading me books that I don't think I could read until I was in 3rd grade or 4th grade, and I owe it all to Felicita Montessori. Best of all he enjoys it, even on weekends he wants to do activity books. My daughter started up at Felicita and we were impressed with what she had been learning. We since moved from Escondido to Poway and opted to take her to a different Montessori that's closer to our home. What a mistake on our part! My daughter isn't learning nearly as much as she or my son did at Felitica. At Felicita they are so much more hands-on and have the right balance of guiding kids curriculum and letting them go at their own pace (we're finding that other Montessori schools like our current one don't have enough structure). I really miss Felicita Montessori on so many levels, it feels like a family over there It's been a year since my kids went there but I can easily name off every teacher there... at our current Montessori they're nice enough but it just doesn't compare. --------------------------- --------------------------- I had read great reviews about this preschool on other websites and signed up my child a year back. This preschool has been amazing for my son. When he started he was sooo quiet and a bit behind with things like potty training and taking naps...with a lot of help and TLC from the teachers there he has conquered these things and truly shined. He is talking so much now, has great friends at the school and really loves all of the artsy ways that they teach the material. Ms. Duval has been an angel for him, and I appreciate the extra care she's given him, like holding his hand to help him fall asleep at nap-times, etc. Every day she goes way out of what is asked of her to help my child and others. Ms. Angeles, Ms. Alma and Ms. Meghan have all been great teachers for him as well, and Ms Bemis and Ms Michel have also shown my son a lot of care (even though he hasn't yet been in their classes yet). I can't wait for my daughter to turn 2 so she can start attending this great school. I also appreciate how Ms. Duval is upfront and tells me when I need to try something differently at home. She wants what's best for my kid and is very experienced. On a side-note yes, it's true that the cost does not include a lunch. When I was first looking that seemed like a big deal but after seeing my son grow and come into his own this past year at this great preschool, the lunch thing is really not a big deal at all. A final note...it's very tough to get your kid into this school as everyone who puts a child in loves it and wants their other kids to attend. That speaks volumes right? read more

At this school your child is only a #. The teachers are old and have no tolerance for children. They have a strcuture that can either be a great fit or a bad experince for a child. For the amount of money you pay they should be more loving and caring towards children. They only care about the money and it does not even include lunch. Awesome staff can't say enough about how nice and caring they are. It's like they love what they do. I'd recommend this school/daycare to anyone. My 4 year old loves it so much she asked to go to school when she had a fever and wasn't feeling good, and asked to go every day she had to stay home sick. read more

This school is wonderful! The teachers are experienced professionals and my daughter loved them all. She attended Felicita Montessori for three years.and entered first grade prepared and confident.
