Bucky and I made the drive to the HEB Plus and found the truck. Interestingly enough, they operate kinda like a drive-thru, but they accept walk-ups, too. Immediately after I pulled up, they saw Bucky and offered him a pup cup. I didn't even have to ask! The cooed and fawned over him as they saw him enjoy it in my back seat. For myself, I got the cortado and I asked for a recommendation. She suggested a Tres Leches cold brew with cinnamon. Right on - I went ahead and ordered it. The cortado was ver nice, with minimal paper cup flavor. It was smooth with a roasted flavor, and a nice, creamy viscosity. A pretty good, respectable cortado. The Tres Leches cold brew reminds me of merienda with my family in Brownsville, despite us usually not having cold coffee - haha. But the flavors were delicious. The coffee was strong, but still had that "flavored latte" taste I tend to enjoy on a hot day. That tres leches foam is truly a delight. If I lived closer, I'd probably be here every day they're open. However, now that I know that they're really good, I may have to make some frequent stops.

It's normally way out of my way but I had to drive down there every day for a week recently, and I was looking for coffee to pick up in the area. Solely on the name alone, I figured I had to try it. The names of everything are amazing, too. We tried the Banana Cum Pie and the Brown Sugar Daddy. The owner took our order and recommended modifications (slightly less sweet). Everything was delicious; they weren't your standard coffee milkshakes from the name brand places, you could get the flavors on the menu and actual solid espresso besides. I'll absolutely be back for that one. The banana drink had a nice flavor that wasn't overpowering, which I liked, but it was a bit too sweet for me. I'd try it again but ask for it semi-sweet next time. The only downside was the wait time--it took about 13 minutes to get just two drinks, which felt a little long. That said, it's only their second day, so I'm hoping it's just growing pains and things will get quicker as they settle in. Parking was free and plentiful during my visit, but the frutería next door was closed--so that may change once everything is fully open. Overall, a solid first visit with lots of potential. Southbound Coffee was literally right up the road, so we stopped by and checked them out. Immediately, staff was very happy to have us there, and asked if I was making a video when they saw me filming their exterior. I told them about my cortado thing and they were really excited to be next on my list. We had a brief chat about our favorite coffee spots before I scooched over for the next customer in line. I ordered the cortado and the Spellbound, and my sister got a Spice Spice Baby, and a Mexican Mocha for my brother in law. The cortado (despite being served in a paper cup) was pretty mild and nutty, with good viscosity. I really liked the aftertaste and it was somehow even better when I got home. The spellbound was quite enchanting. I thought I tasted lavender but the flavor description was Mexican vanilla and ube. Curiouser and curiouser! Regardless, it was light, delicious, and ethereal. I really enjoyed our visit to Southbound Coffee and I look forward to my next visit.

I came across this spot on Yelp while searching for a local coffee place. The first time I tried to…read morevisit, they were closed. Their hours are a bit limited (Wednesday-Friday from 6:30 AM to 2 PM, and Saturday-Sunday from 8 AM to 2 PM). I made sure to come back when they were open, and I'm so glad I did. The gentleman who took my order was incredibly knowledgeable and provided excellent customer service. I ordered the Sam's Sip which is a honey lavender latte with soft top and it was perfectly made. If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can even ask for it a little extra sweet. This has officially become my go to spot whenever I'm in the area. It's a coffee truck located in the parking lot of an auto repair shop, but don't let that fool you because it's definitely worth checking out!
