Top Time Watch Repair & Engraving - Mike with my over 100 year old Sessions clock

They may not know the niceties like "I'll be with you in a moment," and the work may not be done the first time you return. But these people are perfectionists! I have an old Rolex. It's nearing seventy, as am I, and I was determined to have it restored to its original state, so that I might use it every day. Believe me, that's easier said than done. Mike did it. Oh it took him a few months. And at times I doubted that I had made the right call. But that old "bubbleback" has been keeping close to perfect time for nearly a year! Mike Shaw is a third generation watch maker. He is proud to have learned from his father and grandfather, and he misses them both. But in a way, they are still sharing a bench with him. He loves to tell stories about them, and it is clear that he still reveres their abilities. That's not all. Mike can fix bands. My daughter-in-law has a 65-year-old Mido, whose expansion bracelet broke a link. It's a pity to replace an original bracelet with something new. Mike repaired the spring perfectly. If you have an heirloom that won't work, you are probably just a bit hesitant about entrusting it to a stranger. I'm telling you - Mike is the guy!

One being a Grandfather clock so it's not exactly move able. Called Boyd's and scheduled Jarrod for an evaluation visit. He showed up on time and inspected and evaluated all three clocks. Two were OK and just required some lubricant but the 40 year old grandfather clock needed a new movement. Jarrod located a new movement and gave us a very reasonable quote that included the new movement, installation and set up. Less than two weeks later the new movement was in and Jerrod came by the same day to do the install. About 1 hour later the new movement was expertly installed and running and chiming like it was brand new. So what an amazing experience with Boyd's Clocks. Timely, professional, reasonable prices and service in your home. Would give my highest recommendation for anyone seeking clock repair and maintenance. Thank you Boyd's staff for your great service!

Only to find out they don't repair those. So here's a tip, call or email before you make the drive. They did refer me to the only other shop in the area that does this type of repair (Country Clock in Everett) which I've reviewed separately.

The first couple times I turned down this road, I was certain the directions were wrong, because it looks so residential. But never fear. There's even parking, usually. Mr Park has a small shop with a few display cases showing off rings, bracelets, and other jewelry. Lots of sparkles. There are a few old-fashioned mantle clocks (I have kind of a thing for these), and a few miscellaneous other decorative items. Signs say he buys gold. He sits at a workbench behind the cases, and seems to do a steady business in watch and clock repair. I brought in a new watch I'd gotten for Christmas that needed links added to the band. Off-the-shelf watches are always too small for my meathead wrists. He didn't happen to stock extra links, but I got a few from the customer service department of the watch manufacturer. He got right to work the second I came in, and tapped it all together while I sat in his one chair. $10 to take a watch I couldn't even fit over my hand and turn it into something I can wear comfortably whenever I want. It took him maybe 5 minutes. Mr Park isn't the chattiest person you've ever met. He didn't even shoot the breeze with me at all until he was ringing me out. But he's a friendly, nice guy once the work is done. Watch and clock people always seem to be hyper-focused, from what little I know. Given how much more he smiled after tuning up my watchband, I think that might be his vibe. I have a mantle clock that doesn't always run and I think I might be back here to tune that up when I think of it.
