I reached out to Fender Menders after reading some positive reviews here on Yelp. I met with Vic to whom I explained that my brother had borrowed my car and had hit a pole damaging my front right fender. Later before getting the car in to be repaired I hit a coyote while driving out to Ojai. Vic assessed the damage and gave me a very fair price for fixing the damage. He knew I was paying out of pocket and he worked with me to fix which was fixable, whereas the other repair shops that I went to just wanted to order everything new, costing quite a bit more. Vic was great! I put a football size dent in a truck rental and the company gave me the option of getting it fixed myself. Fender Mender was close to the rental office, so I gave it a shot before surrendering to the company's claims department. Vic dropped what he was doing and dedicated the next hour or so to removing the dent and polishing the finish. He turned it around so quickly and so well that the rental company neither charged me for the dent, or a second day's rental. Recently, I was driving my 2009 Nissan Versa on the freeway when a mattress flew out of a pickup truck and smashed into my car. It shattered my right front headlight assembly, and crushed the right front fender. It was a surprising amount of damage. Of course, the truck drove off. A friend recommended Fender Mender. He had several occasions to use them and said they did really good work. I called and spoke to Vic, who explained the whole process in terms of insurance, estimates, claims etc. He was really patient and answered all my questions. I brought my car in to Vic and he started his evaluation. He walked me through the damage and shared what we could expect in terms of cost. Since this business wasn't on my insurance company's list, I had to use a link to send the adjuster photos of the car so that they could work up an estimate. Vic guided me through all the steps, and I was finished in no time. He worked with my insurance company, modified their estimate slightly for hidden damage, and they came to an agreement.  During the time my car was in their shop, I would receive updates from Vic about the progress and details. When my Versa was ready I was absolutely thrilled. I couldn't believe it! They were able to match the paint on a 14 year old car perfectly. I honestly cannot see a difference between the fender and the passenger door. The car was washed and cleaned, and looked amazing. My whole experience with Fender Mender was just wonderful. I need a fast fix that would more than pass inspection. The car was dented there initially, but I had put the hole in it. I went to Fender Mender because it was close, I had a fender to mend, and the guy on the phone was helpful and above all, hopeful that this was an easy fix and wouldn't cost a lot. This proved to be an ideal choice, and in just 3 hours, I had a bumper on an old Prius that looked like new! Someone banged into my car in a parking lot and left dents, scrapes, scratches, and black paint behind--but no note. I took my car for an estimate to an auto body shop recommended by my insurance company and just got a strange vibe--although superficially polite, the manager didn't really engage and sort of shrugged off my questions. Their estimate seemed oddly low--$13.84 less than my deductible. A second estimate from another shop came out to almost three times as much. Vic at Fender Mender was the charm of the third try. His estimate landed between those two extremes; Vic walked through the costs with me and handled the conversations with the insurance company; Fender Mender made the repairs quickly. This is the only car mechanic I've been to where the estimate kept getting cheaper and cheaper. Tom first told me it would be $2,500 for a super perfect-insurance billed job. But then it would be $1,500 if it was out of my pocket, which included a new truck lid. When I dropped the car off they said they could just bang out the old lid if I wasn't aiming for perfection and that would cost $1,000. When they were done it took them less time than estimated and they got the replacement lights cheaper. So my bill was $800. Then I got a Cash discount-final bill $784.
