I'm not sure I have the story right, but it seems like Fenwick Ice Cream moved across the street from it's old location. I'm guessing from some limited information that the at least some of the owners are the same, but I don't really know. In any event, the new space is bigger inside. Meaning you can actually walk inside now. There is still significant outside seating. They also seem to serve some limited non-dessert food. Like the day I was there, they had lobster rolls and hot dogs. There isn't any reason why I would change my prior review score. Service was friendly. They have 33ish flavors of hard ice cream. I had a hard time picking a flavor because I was looking for something different, but the flavors seemed fairly standard. I ultimately ordered a sugar cone with a scoop of key lime pie ice cream. They asked if I wanted any toppings, and I asked for a single Blue Raspberry Sour Patch Kid on top because I thought it would look cool. The ice cream flavor was good. It had like a pie crust swirl which added some contrasting flavor and texture.

I was told they have a new location but the same good ice cream ! Congrats! No worries, I will return! :)

We couldn't resist getting some ice cream from Fenwick after having lunch at Johnny Ad's! They have a bunch of flavors to choose from, and all of the ice cream is handmade by them. We indulged in a banana split, and it came with all of the classic toppings, and our friends enjoyed the mint chip and toasted almond. It was a cute, casual spot, and the girls at the window were friendly. This was our second time getting ice cream here and we will definitely be back for more!

Nothing special. Got their promotion "flurry"... vanilla soft serve... with stale snickers or maybe it was frozen. I count eat half of it... My kids all got regular soft serve and a twist, it was fine. Nothing special about the ice cream... but probably not the worse ice cream you'll end up with. Rather have DQ. lol

It's been a while since I've been here, but this little seafood shack has never done me wrong. I pulled in just after 1:00 PM on a Monday afternoon and the order line at the window was steady. The staff were cheerful and moved us guests along quickly. I put in the order for some Rhode Island clam chowder and six clam fritters. I also ordered a birch beer. Within 10 minutes, my order was ready at the pick up counter. I found my way to one of the open and very clean tables inside the restaurant. At first glance, the clam chowder looked way too rich, almost New England style (white and thick) I kind of sighed a little bit and felt a little disappointed. But once I stuck that spoon into the chowder, that thickness seemed not that important. The clams were generously portioned, some small, some large, some nice and chewy, along with a great flavored broth and some small diced white potatoes. This was deliciousness at its best. Simple with that by the sea scent and flavor. This could be one of the best clam chowders I've had yet in Connecticut. The six clam fritters were good, yet a bit greasy. The fritter dough itself was delicious, but I would've liked a little bit more clams in the fritters. I didn't like the tartar sauce on the side, so I went to the counter and got some cocktail sauce. This is what should be served in my opinion with the fritters. I loved this combination, and I definitely would order this again as an appetizer. The birch beer was delicious. I think it was on tap so I don't know the brand. Again, I would order this again. For a little drive in that is a bit antiquated, the cleanliness is on point. I didn't check the restroom though. When going through Old Saybrook, this would be great consideration for a quick lunch.

The oysters were fresh and amazing, and honestly everything we ordered was fresh and on point across the board. My favorite item used to be the tuna triangles but this spring/summer they have tasted different. The layer of rice is thinner and crunchy. The prices on the menu overall went up (including that of the lobster roll) and the quality and service have declined. The new summer menu doesn't feature a traditional ribeye or filet steak which is disappointing. The summer sausage pasta sauce was very thin and lacking flavor, it felt more similar to a soup. It is still a nice restaurant with a great lobster roll but i am disappointed which makes me less inclined to visit often.

I recently planned an errand in the general Old Saybrook area so I could try both at Jack Rabbits. I had the vague impression that there may be more than one part to Jack Rabbits. I went to the part that's more of a bar. It was crowded. There was one table open, but I opted for one of the last seats at the bar. If Jack Rabbits isn't quite a dive bar, it's dive-bar-adjacent. There were clearly a lot of area regulars there. The bartenders were all friendly and helpful. They knew the names of a lot of customers. Always a good sign. The thing about trying both the hot dog and wing part of the menu when you're alone, you can't really do a deep dive into either part of the menu. And the depth of the menu, definitely warranted a deep dive. I'll return to try more of the menu with reinforcements next time. I ordered a New York style hot dog, which was served with a split and grilled Hummel as the base. The toppings included sweet pepper relish, mustard, bacon pieces, kraut and onions. There was a lot going on in a way that I enjoyed. The dog was well cooked. They had a number of specialty dogs I'd like to try. I also ordered 8 Sriracha Lime Cilantro wings, and ate four there and brought the rest home for my son. Good flavor. Good texture. Meaty wings at a goods price. My son liked them too. Wing Addicts had another good call. I'll definitely return. 4.5 Stars
