Stayed for one night during the week. Wife and I were contemplating staying longer, but we decided one night was enough. Staff was not an issue. Cleanliness and comfortability were. The bed either had a bad box spring or mattress. Sunken in the middle and could feel the springs. Barely slept. Bathroom was rather disgusting. Hairs either from housekeeping or the previous guest were in the bath. Mold on the shower and stained drop ceiling from previous/present leaks. Location was ok and the price for one night wasn't bad if the issues weren't present. Last thing that was an irritant - I received an automated text from the hotel at 12:01 AM on our checkout day that we are scheduled to leave and to let them know when we're leaving. I understand turnover time but this was pretty annoying. I'm glad I didn't hear my phone go off and wake me up as I was laying down in a sub par mattress that I already was struggling to sleep in. read more

Im not sure how this has 2 1/2 stars but for $200 the room was right in town...very clean accept for a few hairs in the cleaned towels, comfy, everything worked well. No smells at all. Air was cool and the balcony was a plus. Beds were a bit soft and worn but not bad. Not sure what anyone expects for the price but ive been in some rough places for more money. We liked it. The people were so cool. We had e-bikes and they let us put them inside and lock them to the stair well. Pool was nice and clean although we didnt use it. I will no doubt stay here again! No elevator so beware if you have the need for an elevator. read more

BEWARE OF CANCELLATION POLICY! Unfortunately I cannot give 0 stars to this business. We planned a stay at this motel and later that day learned of a close family member's death. Since the funeral was the same days as our planned stay, we could not make our reservation. And, because of the 3 day cancellation policy, we were beyond the time to cancel. THE REALLY CRUEL PART was the "customer service" we received. We weren't allowed to talk to a manger or even get their name and contact information. We couldn't get a definitive answer if we'd be able to get credit and book rooms at a later time. All we got was the runaround. I've been staying here every summer for 5+ years and had a lovely time. Except this time. At 11pm, my friend and I were listening to music and packing up to leave the next day when the front desk woman knocked on the door. She notified me it was quiet hours and i swiftly apologized. She then accused me of smoking weed in the room. We never smoked weed in the room or on the premises. Weed is legal in Delaware. She then told me she was charging me $150 for the room smelling like weed. I said ok and asked if she wanted us to leave, and she said she didn't care. She then leaves and proceeds to call my phone, accusing me of being a minor and being 18, when i am 23. I offered to bring her my ID and did, and then she proceeded to accuse me of selling drugs out of the hotel room. I am a 23 year old hair stylist who works nearly every day, and to be treated like this while spending my money on a place to stay is pretty brutal. I have watched this place go downhill every year and this is officially rock bottom! Do not stay here. read more

We've been coming to this hotel every year for about 10 years now. It's just a small, "Ma & Pa" place that's extremely comfortable, plenty of ample parking, a nice outdoor pool overlooking the bay inlets. The staff is extremely friendly and very hospitable !! Just across the Md state line in Delaware which makes it close enough to get to everything but far enough away from all the noise of OC strip. read more

I loved staying here. It's really close to the beach and I loved being able to walk there. The hotel is also in a great location as there are a lot of restaurants, shops, and activities within walking distance. The pool was clean and looked great. The view outside the room was fine but I think upgrading to the bay view was worth it because it's so much quieter on the back side of the hotel. The room was clean and functional. The balcony was very spacious. Bed was fine. My downsides are that the shower water didn't heat up super hot like I prefer it and the water pressure was low. I also don't like that the door to the room doesn't have a peephole to see who might be knocking on your door. This is not the fault of the hotel but the surrounding area is not very friendly to people who may have mobility issues or families with strollers. There aren't sidewalks in some areas or sometimes the sidewalks don't match evenly and there's a huge step up/down. So if you need good flat sidewalks I suggest looking elsewhere. read more

I would give this a zero star if that was an option. Stayed last Thursday for a single night. I was charged for 3 nights for no reason. I called Friday and was told the owner would contact me over the weekend. I called Monday and was told the manager would reach out to me. Nothing. Coke Wednesday I call again and they say they are the charges and would reverse them and contact me. Fast forward to today, Friday I call again and the woman is very rude telling me the manager is not in etc. I understand mistakes happen but the fact is no one is trying to fix the issue. I'm giving this 5 stars because for a motel it is very nice. The rooms were recently updated and look very nice and were very clean. No carpet in the rooms which is more ideal in my opinion. The bathroom was a little small which made getting in and out awkward for two people. Nice little kitchenette. There is a coffee maker, microwave, sink and mini fridge. The hallways were not updated...old looking carpet and were muggy. Pool was clean and decent size. Open until 11pm! Ice machine, soda and snack machine on 1st floor near office. My only issue with our room was that it was a conjoining room and we could hear the people on the other side. Woke us up at 7 am because they were yelling at their kids. read more

Yes, it is close to the ocean. Period. Otherwise, the room stank, the mattresses were ancient and uncomfortable, the shower only sprayed directly on your face full-blast, and the bathtub was cracked open with only a piece of tape over the break. Mold in between floors guaranteed. Worse was that I was assured we would have a room on the canal side but arrived to find we were in a street-facing room with all its noise. And worst was that I made it clear we could not be in a room with new carpeting or paint, but the room had both and the chemical exposure completely ruined our entire vacation beyond our brief stay at this shabby establishment. Rooms ok for price although bathroom needs work. Pool area is beautiful. Carpets in hallways are filthy with big stains. No security guards on duty. There was crises in next room at 6 am n could not reach help through phone. Sent call to reservation office. Went to office and elderly man said he was in charge until 8 but he said he was too old and wasn't going to do anything. I called 911. On check out man behind desk did not care or apologize. Don't let the reviews scare you away. I have to admit I was nervous. So, we came in with low expectations, but our experience overall was very positive. Room- We were on the first floor bayside. The room was clean, smelled good, great a/c but it was loud, website states all beds were updated and we found ours to be very comfortable, plenty of extra blankets, pillows and towels, and our room had linoleum floors which made clean up easy. Bathroom- overall it was ok, definitely dated with some rusted ceiling tiles, water pressure was really good and shower heated up nicely. Location- Great location in Fenwick. In the middle of everything. Tons of restaurants, shopping and ice cream within walking distance. We parked our car and didn't need it at all. There is a traffic light with a crosswalk right outside the door. I definitely recommend getting on the beach near Royal Farms. They have covered the sand walkway with some kind of walking mat. So much easier to walk on and pull a cart. This is very helpful because the dunes are tough to walk up. Amenities- The pool was nice and clean. There is a Keurig in the main office with kcups. I do have one concern and that's regarding security. I'm not positive, but the doors were always unlocked and open. I'm not sure they ever closed or locked them late at night. read more

One of the worst places I've ever stayed because when I left Fenwick Islander motel,their nasty bedbugs came home with me. of course the hotel denied and promised to send background information on their extermination policies and their reports, but of course nothing was ever received. No refund was issued, no help was provided. After spending $1000 to have my place exterminated four times, that cost was also paid by me the customer instead of the bed bug infested Fenwick Islander motel in fenwick Delaware. Avoid these people, avoid this motel unless you want bedbugs! Don't believe them they're liars they don't follow through with what they say they will provide. You get what you pay for. It was fine, probably wouldn't stay again. The bathroom was "cleaned" but not very clean. There was still sand left on the floor and in the shower. There was hair on the pillowcases. The bedding was poor quality. However, the beds themselves were comfortable. It was nice to have a kitchenette in the room and a balcony. There wasn't much noise from the road. We didn't spend too much time in the room though. Probably worth it to spend a little more and be somewhere cleaner though. read more

This place is horrible! It's old and stinky and the bathtub paint is peeling. The worst part is the staff! Very rude not helpful. I was here on business for a few days and wanted to pay for two days on my business credit card and the rest on my personal credit card. I told the women at the front desk that's what I wanted to do from the beginning. She didn't do it and after 3 days of asking my husband lost his temper. She never gave me the correct receipt and she said we were not welcome back. Terrible place ! read more

my husband and I treated my son and his girlfriend to a weekend away, they were treated horribly by the front desk staff, denied service when the toilet in their room failed to work properly and repeated calls to the manager have gone unreturned. I cannot recommend this hotel at all. read more

I will to take 1/2 of the blame for this issue. I loved the property, however I accidentally left my dirty laundry in a bag there. I realized it when I was about 2 hours away. I pulled over and called them. I was told 'no problem we'll send you your stuff. A week goes bye don't get my stuff. I call them several times leaving a voicemail. I finally called them again the next day. I was told "We don't do that since the pandemic." That is not what I was lead to believe by the staff member that took my call. I would have 100 % turned around and got my clothes. It was too late I was told that it wasn't their fault that I was told this. I don't see how that in a full three years a staff member didn't understand or was told this. If you stay here make sure you check your room for your possessions. I will NEVER stay here again. Terrible management if you can't pass along a policy change in THREE YEARS there's a problem. read more

The Fenwick Islander is a great little motel with affordable rates, only one block from the beach! The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and it's within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, miniature golf, etc. In addition, it's a short drive to the other beach towns: Bethany, Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey, and OCMD, if you so choose. The motel also has a well maintained pool, and they allow guests to swim until 11pm, which is a rare find. If you're looking for a quiet, quaint little motel, with great rates, then The Fenwick Islander is your spot! I'll definitely be visiting again soon. read more

This was the second time I stayed here. There were only a few other guests, since it was the end of September. The folks at the front desk are friendly and nice. The room was clean and with plenty of towels. The ice machine was in good working order. The pool was swimable and even that it was not the best weather, I took a swim. The location is great. My son and I spent a couple of nights here while were in town for a nearby soccer tournament. Considering the jacked up prices of Ocean City hotels, this one is a bargain. Check in was pleasant, our room was on the second floor with a nice balcony overlooking the water. We didn't use the pool (outside), but it looked clean and well maintained. The room has a large, old TV, but it works fine. Huge fridge and nice kitchenette. I will absolutely stay here again. read more

My family and I stayed there for a week last summer and it was excellent. The location was awesome, one block from the beach. Restaurants within walking distance and about 10-15 minutes away from the ocean city Boardwalk. My family and friends have decided to make this an annual get away and the preferred hotel of choice. The room service was good and the pool and overall facility was very clean. Last but not lease the pricing was reasonably affordable. I would recommend this motel to anyone interested in spending some time in the area. read more

My fiance and I recently stayed at the Fenwick Islander Motel (August 10th to August 12th) and I am sadden to say that we were in no way pleased with our stay.  Upon arriving we immediately saw that there were beer cans behind the night stand and on the balcony. I went down to the front desk to let them know. I recieved a sorry and then we went to dinner.  Upon arriving back from dinner the beer cans were STILL there. It was around 12pm so I was not going to go down to the front desk that night to complain again I decided to let it go.  We then went to pull the sheets back on our bed and saw that there were multiple long black hairs on the sheets. We ended up sleeping on top of the bed.  The next morning I went down to the front desk, I told them about the sheets once again I was given a sorry and told it would be handled. We went to the beach for the day.  When we got back my fiance went to get in the shower and found a BRIGHT GREEN fingernail. I picked it up and took it down to the front desk because I did not want to be seen as the guest who complains constantly. Once again I was met with a sorry and that was it.  That evening we went to get into our bed and the hair was STILL on the sheets. W We ended up spending my fiances birthday trip sleeping on top of the blankets on our hotel bed.  I am not sure how often you travel but I guarantee that if you walked into a hotel room in the condition that we did you would not be even slightly pleased either. We will be coming back to the Fenwick Islander Motel, which is sad for us because we are frequent visitors who usually stay in the Fenwick Inn but after hearing such reviews about your motel decided to switch it up.  We will not be doing that anymore.  I would not be upset about the room if the problems were taken care of or I was shown more sympathy than just a lighthearted "Sorry." Unfortunately we were not able to stay at this motel. My family and I had reservations at Fenwick Islander Motel for July 6-9. I unfortunately broke my foot on July 5th. I was not able to travel and needed to cancel the reservation. Even though we booked this reservation through booking.com, out of courtesy, my husband called the motel directly from the ER as soon as we realized we could not go out of town so they could release the room to someone else. The manager at the hotel assured my husband he would process the credit on Sunday and not to worry about it as we would be released from our reservation even though it wasn't within the 3 day window cancellation policy. The only fee associated with our cancellation would be $20 service charge, which we gladly agreed to. We were relieved and were able to concentrate on my injury and the care to follow without giving the cancellation a second thought. Well that ended up not being the case. The motel charged my credit card $266.49 anyway and now will not refund. What is worse, the owners are claiming not to have a record of the call made by my husband. Shame on them! read more

Beware- this motel is known for mysteriously cancelling reservations without warning. Go to the Atlantic instead - it's right next door, has a better pool, more efficient staff, and overall more professional and a bit cleaner. Fenwick Islander would have been ok for what it was had the staff not canceled my reservation and tried to stuff eight people in a room instead. Please do not be fooled if they ask you to book through them instead of booking.com because if they make a mistake they will not take responsibility or accommodate you. They made me cancel my booking.com reservation and book through them (probably so they didn't have to pay a fee) but advertised it as giving me a better rate. Then they canceled my reservation and blamed booking.com. When that didn't work Karen blamed Rose. I drove 3 hours, arrived with my 4 month old infant (toddler, husband on the way) and was told we didn't have a room. I booked months in advance and spent forever working with both hotel employees to book adjoining rooms with another family AT ROSE AND KAREN'S SUGGESTION. Karen needs help during busy season and she will blame her coworkers if something goes wrong in their absence. The manager is rude and gave me the run around before showing up the next day. Didn't call me to discuss and when I did beg to finally have a word with him on the phone he sounded like a teenager with his first summer job - not a business owner. They must have felt bad and eventually reserved me a room but never even told me-Rose happen to find out after doing some investigating. I was very embarrassed for them but if you like small town unprofessionalism this is your spot. If you are driving from far and especially if you have kids, it is not worth the hassle - nobody likes surprises in these situations. read more

This was the first and the last visit that I will ever make to this motel. I don't even want to give them a star (but I have to in order to post this). Apparently one of our room reservations was mysteriously cancelled. Both the owner and Karen flipped flopped and blamed the internet (booking.com) or us for the cancellation! They did not take any responsibility for this "mysterious" cancellation. Nor did they show any sympathy for the mistake, considering a part of our party was left without a room! They tried to redeem themselves by reserving a room for us, but did not even tell us that they did that! By then, several hundred dollars were already spent to reserve another room at another location. Their customer service and communication with not only us but (what became clear) amongst themselves lacked and was very disorganized. We asked to speak to the manager several times and were given the run around as we were told different stories by Rose and Karen. I will say that Rose was extremely sympathetic and expressed it. Unfortunately, Karen did not have that same demeanor and customer service courtesy. She was absolutely rude. Karen, you may have good reviews, but let's see if those stars were due to challenging situations that you amicably and gracefully solved! Anyone can receive a great review when things roll smoothly. If you are having a bad day, take off work. You work in a profession that relies on your face and attitude being a pleasant one. On another note---it's not a good thing when you throw your coworkers under the bus to make yourself look good! Lies will catch up to you and they evidently did that day. Their customer service skills need a lot of work. Yes it's an easy walk to the beach but so are the other hotels/motels/beach houses in the area that I would recommend you take a look at...just don't look and book here. read more

Positives - short walk to the beach although you have to cross ocean highway to get there, walking distance to some restaurants, mini golf, etc, easy ride to ocean city and Rehoboth beach areas, room was for the most part clean. Negatives - rooms are small and dated, the musty smell in the room was overwhelming and everything in the room felt damp, the mattresses and bedding were well let's say they don't invest much in them. The pool is very small, a dozen people would make it crowded. We chose to stay here because of price (although it wasn't cheap by any means) and location. Maybe our experience was the result of end of season maintenance issues, but next time we will spend a little extra and stay somewhere else. O read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here in August, 2014 since it seemed to be the only place that was reasonably priced. I guess in this area the rates were good as compared to other hotel/motels. The beds were horrible... I felt every spring. The bathroom didn't appear very clean and neither were the drawers to put clothing. The pool looked very dingy. It wasn't something I was interested in getting in. I can't say I would never stay here again, but it wasn't up to par for me. read more

After looking at many hotels in Ocean City and the surrounding area, my boyfriend and I made a last minute decision and went with this motel and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff at the front desk were very nice and welcoming. We were able to check in early and were even allowed to leave the car in the parking lot after we checked out so we could get one more beach day in. You do have to cross a pretty busy road to get to the beach, but the light with the crosswalk makes it safe to walk the short distance. The room was perfect for an overnight stay. The balcony on the second floor room was also a nice addition. The beds were comfortable and it was a quiet and relaxing stay. Perfect for a last minute summer getaway. read more
