Pub located at the Pacific Guardian Center / Dillingham Building downtown area. It is right in between the Bishop Cafe and Mama Ya. I think it opens before lunch, maybe 10 or 11 and stays open until 10 or 11. It is nice, with a bar that probably seats 15 and bar seating inside and outside. The food is light eats, panini press sandwich style (not a full kitchen), charcuterie, etc. Full bar, beer, wine, quite a huge selection. The business crowd from the nearby offices seem to be regulars, which is great. The bartenders are really friendly attentive! Great prices. Nice wine options. I have stopped in a few times and I have always enjoyed my visits, and have had fun! Parking in the building after 4PM (entrance on Alakea) has a sign only $5 after 4PM. Stopped by with a few coworkers after a meeting downtown. The vibe here is cozy and you can sit inside or outside. We sat inside, as it was much cooler (August) than outside. There's a wide variety of drinks as well as food items. We didn't stay for long, so we didn't order any food. There was only one bartender/server while we were there. It looked like a slow night (Monday), but I'm sure it gets busy later in the week. The bar is very clean and comfortable. Great place to grab a drink. read more

Had to run a few errands Downtown, and dropped into Ferguson's Pub around 2pm....Reed, bartender there for 12 years, is polite and conversational, as Chet Baker plays his trumpet on the sound system, as his music floats throughout the very high ceiling interior. Walls are covered with unusual art and memorabilia tastefully placed about. Business is immaculate, and there, in the back of bar are french doors leading to a quiet secluded patio w/ tables umbrellaed about. Closed on Sat/Sun, and this would be the prime spot to book for a private party or wedding. BTW, Reed also makes a killer quesadilla! read more

I had heard of Ferguson's Pub but had never visited and didn't know they were located right off a Bishop street location that I'd driven by literally hundreds of times over many years. We visited on a Wednesday afternoon around 5 pm and had a positive experience. Food: Small food menu but a decent selection of bar fare. Great selection of whisky across the range of Bourbon, Scotch, and Irish at great prices. I do wish they'd serve their whisky in a proper whisky glass though, if you are going to serve a higher grade of product it's a little disappointing to have it served in a shot glass. Granted it's a pub but if I'm ordering a 15 or 18 year old whisky it would make the experience much better to have it served in a proper glass. Not sure if it was just the day but the food we ordered was also served on a paper plate with our individual plates also paper. Service: We sat at the bar and service was good. The pub was busy with the after work crowd but we were able to grab two seats at the bar. Looking around all of the bar patrons were taken care of with their small staff and there seemed to be many regulars. Atmosphere: With seating inside and out I really like the space. Not a huge location so I can imagine it could get quite crowded but on this Wednesday it was pretty chill. Free parking after 4 pm is a plus if you are commuting to this location. Value: I'm mixed on this, a little pricey on the food versus what you receive but I'm assuming location plays a big part of the food cost. The drink costs are very reasonable though which I guess is great for an Irish pub. Overall: Good place to grab an after work drink if you need to let the traffic calm down before heading out of town. If you have ever been to a pub you shall know that it's not about the food as it is about the atmosphere. Yes, it's a place to hang out, talk story, and bond over drinks. Having walked by this place numerous times, I have always wanted to try it out simply to see if it can be an alternative to the other Irish Pubs in Downtown Honolulu. It's relatively clean and the employees are friendly. The layout, including the outdoor seating is kind of weird, but I am not holding it against the establishment as they took whatever space they can get to cater to the business people as the water hole establishment after work crowd (although they are open for lunch during the week). The food is so-so, but do you really come here for the food, or for the drinking? I do see it as a possibility to come by again, as it is more convenient to patronize if I ever work a long day and need a drink before going home. read more

I knew about this place and been wanting to check it out. Cool, slightly upscale, Irish pub with lots of character and good customer service. This is a small place so, if you plan on stopping by, you may want to go a little earier in the day as I'm sure it will get crowded quickly. We stopped in for a quick bite to eat during our busy day. Customer service was fast and attentive. Food was tasty and full of flavor...definitely not your typical bar food. We had grilled cheese and Pastrami sandwiches...YUM!!!! I only gave four stars because we didn't have any adult beverages because we were working. I will have to go back for drinks and update my review. I have been here a couple of times now and I like it here. The bar itself feels a little narrow when you enter...the nicely made wooden display holding all the luscious liquor makes you feel....well, like you are on the mainland. They have a nice selection of whiskey, especially irish...as they should. There is seating inside the bar area, and there is also outside seating. We sat at the bar during the last visit and were able to watch the World Series game. FYI....this is a pro-San Francisco bar, so beware.... The crowd here is more middle aged. Not your young, pick up bar, at all. Although, it was a nice mix of pau hana peeps and older folk just relaxing. I was able to finally try the food on this last visit. I ordered the chili verde tacos. The plate came with two tacos and some chips on the side. Overall it was ok...the chili verde was a little on the spicy side for me...but it was good. I was blown away at how small there food menu is....very limited choices. The service here is usually pretty good. The bartender we had was nice and last time we were there the waitress was real nice. I would go back here....fun and chill place to hang. read more

I somehow missed this place walking by countless times, but I'm glad I stopped in. This is a classy Irish pub right downtown. Indoor has a nice bar, high ceilings, and tables; everything is very clean. They have outdoor seating on Bishop Street and the courtyard, both are pleasant. Our bartender/waiter was very professional and friendly. They have good lunch specials. I shared the Irish Cheesesteak sandwich and the Cerviche salad. Both tasted excellent. The Irish cheese and spiced mayo made it. My only complaint, and reason for a less than perfect rating, is for the portion- it was a bit small and not quite worth the price. The salad was a better deal- crisp and refreshing with fresh red snapper. We also shared the baked Brie with kiwi. This was gluttonous and delicious, but not with the price for quality and portion. Cool little pub tucked away downtown in the old Transportation building! Definitely a bar, with limited (but tasty) food options! Most of what's made as far as food is "luxury dorm style" - ha - meaning grilled sandwich choices & yummy wedge salad with bacon. I was there during work hours, so I didn't get to try out the bar - shucks! But they looked fully stocked and I noticed a lot of whiskey (makes sense being an Irish pub). Re-vamped Ferguson's - the guys that brought you Murphy's and JJ Dolan's are at it again - when the formula for a pub works, it works! Reopened in late May 2012, this pub is cozy, but not as cramped as its predecessor. Two flat-screen TV's flank an impressive liquor collection to satisfy the sports fan in you (or traveling with you), with a few beers on tap (Guiness, of course) to toast with your neighbor. Brian and Murphy were amazing - no food was available at the time, but they allowed us to bring some food in, as well as get a buffet going for a soccer-watching event! Travis the bartender was totally cool and took complete care of our large party. Positives: Great venue, great selection of drinks, virtually brand new spot, awesome service. Lots of professional business people unwinding from work or watching a game on tv. The bartender Reid is great. Very classy, seems to make it a point to remember your face, makes you feel so welcome. So.... I've had a negative impression of this bar ever since I've heard of it. My friends work right across the street from Ferguson's and have told me countless times to come down and have a drink after work. I never wanted to go because they said it was a small dive bar and I knew parking would be a pain. That being said... they obviously are not Yelpers! Ferguson's is a nice bar - upscale from what I'm used to. The bar is fancy and they serve some awesome signature cocktails. Although I've only been there twice, the menu seemed a little fancy too (I've heard it changes frequently). I had the meat and cheese platter and it was so YUM and unexpected! Take a look at the picture I took and you'll see what I mean. My favorite part of the dish was the stuffed mini red bell peppers. A tiny bit spicy with some blue cheese in the middle. Wow! I need to find me some of those peppers. Amazing flavor!!! There is definitely a friendly atmosphere there. It is a small place with an unpleasant parking situation, but once you step inside, it is totally worth it!!! read more

Fun Fun Fun at Ferguson's!! What an adorable little hideaway! Ferguson's is located next to the Bishop Street Café and if you walk too fast you might miss it. It's a narrow bar so not ideal for a group setting but somehow we made it work.....I'm sure you can too. I love sitting at the bar and boy is this bar long. The heavy wood is sleek and stylish and makes me feel like I'm part of the Cheers cast. I LIKE IT! The décor is manly and has a warm feeling of richness. The cabinetry is beautiful! Their prices are about average for an upscale establishment. It's not cheap, but won't break the bank either. Our bartender Reid was friendly and efficient! He was there when your drink got low, but not intrusive when it wasn't. Give Ferguson's a try.....you won't be disappointed! read more

Ferguson's has been totally remodeled and is operated by Don Murphy and the guys from JJ Dolans. The remodel is beautiful; high ceilings, a lot of dark wood. A good selection of wine and beer. They don't have any food yet, there are plans but they are still figuring that out. For a place to have a drink with a friend after work it's great. My boyfriend is a big sports guy and while I do enjoy lots of sports, I mostly go watch at the bar for the food and drinks. This time around he wanted to watch soccer & there was a viewing party at Ferguson's. We were surprised we had never heard of it & decided to try. The bar is way smaller than I expected. There are a few two person tables scattered along one wall leading to the back exit/bathrooms while the opposing wall is the bar with chairs all the way around. The bar is plenty stocked, a few big screens are scattered throughout and there's a small kitchen area at the end of the bar where they make some simple & tasty food items. On a plus, I noticed an outdoor seating area by the back exit that I imagine would be nice for some afternoon drinks & lunch. I tried the jalapeño margarita which I fell in love with. The bartender made them nice & strong with an awesome spicy kick. One of the first places where I tasted that spice. They were delicious but a little pricey so I switched over to beer. They had a wide selection at some decent prices. I was able to get a fresh squeezed IPA on draft for $6 which is a stellar deal. The menu was nothing fancy but still had yummy choices. Appetizers, sandwiches & grilled cheeses to be exact. There was a salad but I don't feel like this is the place to do that. The baked brie sounded yummy buy based on the menu and what I saw of the kitchen, sandwiches were the way to go. The only problem was choosing! The sandwiches were your typical options but I liked the variety: Italian deli cuts or a chicken meatball sub to pastrami or turkey. The grilled cheeses are apparently what they do best, listed on the menu as 'famous.' They had your typical grilled cheese [$9] with a number of add ons for an additional cost of $1 like bacon, avocado, tomato, etc. There was also two pizza grilled cheeses [meat lovers or margarita $10], a jalapeño Mac & cheese grilled cheese [yes, you read correctly - I'll be back just to try this ($10)] and finally a roast beef/bleu cheese version with fried onions & horseradish. My boyfriend went for the pizza meat lovers. I was being indecisive but with the help of the bartender ordered the Dublin cheesesteak, a French roll filled with thinly sliced roast beef, Dublin cheese and horseradish mayo [$11]. They were out of the cheese which was a bummer but cheddar works for me anyway so I just replaced it. My sandwich was delicious, toasted and warm with lots of meat. I had to curb myself to slow down. My bf's Meat Lovers had salami, pepperoni, ham, mozzarella & marinara. Tasted just like pizza for sure but was a little hard to eat. I would definitely come back here if in the area or for a sports events. The intimacy made it more fun than some of the hugs bars and they served affordable drinks. The bartender provides great service & made rounds constantly around the bar. I'll have to check out the outdoor area with friends! read more

Because those seem to be the requirements for entry and acceptance here. I came to Ferguson's for the first time on a Friday, in the late afternoon to watch the Celtics game with a couple buddies. One had been here before, and thought it was worth a return visit. The location is a bit random, located on the bottom floor of an office building, and parking --as with anywhere downtown -- was not convenient. The interior of the bar is beautifully done. I had never been before the recent remodel, but the bar looks great now. Clean, classy, but in keeping with the building's more historic feel. Both the bartender and our cocktail server were friendly and attentive. The Guinness was poured properly and served promptly. The food menu was limited, just pupus really, and only served as a light nosh, but tasty. The TV's were located in convenient viewing areas. The bar was full, and the sounds of cheerful after-work banter filled the space. These are all positives, so you may be asking, "why only two stars?". Here's the reason for my lower rating: Bars are often like a pair of jeans, they either fit, or they don't. And this bar just didn't fit -- me. Despite very friendly and competent staff, those are only 3 or 4 people. When the other 25-30 odd people there (patrons) seem to be looking down their noses at you, it doesn't create a friendly vibe. I literally had a lady get up and switch seats with a male of her group when I stood next to her to order a drink at the bar. So, if you happen to be a young or established business professional and want to go network after a day at the office, by all means go here. But if you are someone who possibly has tattoos, piercings, a skateboard in hand or generally feels more comfortable in bars on Hotel Street, I would give this place a pass. read more

If my Irish blood ever craves some of its own people, or at least people who really want to be Irish, I usually venture to Murphy's/O Toole's/JJ Dolans depending on the taste buds. However, this year for St. Patrick's Day, I discovered Murphy's partners with Fergusons for free(ish) parking. Parking is free when validated with purchase from Ferguson's. SIGN ME UP I very much enjoyed my Jameson and Ginger Ale. I stuck to the drink throughout the evening as I moved to each pub, but Ferguson's mixed it by far the best. It could be my Emerald Irish blood, but the drink was very refreshing. My partners in crime believed the drink was incredibly strong, but to me it tasted like a spritzer! (once again IRISH BLOOD HERE) Since no one really knows about this place, or they aren't willing to venture two blocks down the road, it wasn't very crowded for how small the location was. It was the cleanest of the 4 pubs, which was decorated in a posh old world decor. They were selling corned beef sliders that day, which ruined me for all other food the rest of the day. What a genius idea! Why struggle to find a few seats together at a table to sit down and cut through your chunk of corned beef and pile of cabbage when you can walk around with a handy dandy mini sandwich in hand! My stomach growled while I tried to enjoy watching the drunken fools attempt an irish jig while running into every single person surrounding him. If it wasn't for Murphy's selling them for $1 cheaper, I wouldn't ran back to Ferguson's to pick some up. If I worked/lived in this area, I have a feeling the hubs and I would spend a lot more time here for an Irish experience without the tourist feel. read more

The location is great, but the inside is small (but cozy is a weird way), but love the open air outside, especially on a pau hana Friday. The service is lacking though...not sure if they're covering too many tables at once or if it's the delay at the bar but the waitresses are a little absent minded. Ok, lemme preface this review by saying I have worked at an Irish bar in Cali and some of my best memories (and sometimes lack of memories) have come from that bar. With that being said, Fergusons is as close to that feeling of being in a bar where everyone knows you, and is just downright comfortable from the staff to the fellow bar-goers. The bar I worked at wasn't for the "just turned 21" crowd and neither is Fergusons (although if you just turned 21, I would still check this place out). It's location is possibly too convenient for those of us who work nearby, but it's also easily accessible and offers parking validation at pacific guardian's parking structure for those who find it difficult to park in downtown. I've read that people have knocked this place for it's food...but c'mon, it's an irish bar people...who judges an Irish bar based on culinary foo foo masterpieces!? I sure as hell don't! All you need is good, tasty food to anchor away the real purpose of you going to a bar...booze! And being from Cali, I must say that the chile verde is on point! They've got solid bar food to accompany their solid drinks...what more do I need? And yes, this place has one of the cleanest women's bathrooms you'll find in a downtown bar! It has indoor and outdoor seating and is a great place for groups or meeting one on one. I can't vouch for other people's experiences re service here, but I can say that every time I've been here, the service has been awesome, inside and out. Being a working professional in downtown, anytown means you could prolly use an after-work drink...Fergies is as good as it gets with a great selection. For those that have been to this bar in the past, throw out all of those dark memories because as of a month ago, everything has changed. Completely remodeled, new owners, this place is not what I remembered at all. The bartender was very courteous and carried good conversation, even offered to hook me up with his nurse friend, lol. Micheal W. had a buffet thing going, so although hey do not serve food here, I'd like to rate his selection of food 5 stars. A whole team of friends were out and Yelp Elites. Happy St Patty's Day! Too bad the party was not happening here that day, except for the live fiddler and...another instrument player playing in the back. Ferguson's is right on the corner of Bishop and Nimitz, making it a hard to see and stop location to frequent. The indoor space is relatively small, but we were able to trickle to the back outdoor space. Iron wrought tables and chairs make up the furniture that seemed bulky and hard to move around. So if you want a quiet place to enjoy your drink, I would recommend Ferguson's. read more

We don't have a lot of Irish bars in Hawaii and in fact most of them are in the Downtown/Chinatown area. I was expecting more from Ferguson's than I got. The food menu was just too limited to easy-to-cook items like grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadillas (which we ordered). Tge same is true for the beer menu, specifically the India Pale Ales, with just a couple of marginal choices to select from. The bar is very small and that's surely why the food and beverages are so limited. The service however was very friendly and fast and the only memorable part of my experience here. read more
