I love this quaint inn, so close to Humber Park to go hiking. Marcie and Gary are great so kind. This place is quiet and has everything you need. I came by myself and felt completely safe. Definitely coming back next year to go hiking again. I just love the fall leaves and octoberfest.

If you want peace and quiet with a side of relaxation, then the Fern Valley Inn is the place for you. If you want luxury and glam, then you might want to go elsewhere. The Mrs. and I have been visiting the Fern Valley Inn off and on for a little over 10 years. Other then new owners, some fresh paint, and some very minor upgrades, the place hasn't changed. The cabins are very rustic. Each of them are decorated differently, but you still feel like your trapped in the 1960s. The entire property has about 10 cabins on it that are various sizes depending on how many people in your group. We've stayed in the Heidelberg Zinner and Havana Bungalow the last few times we've stopped in. The beds aren't the most comfortable beds in the world, unless you like a really hard bed. There are also fireplaces in each cabin, but you have to provide the wood. The cabins we stayed in had a microwave and wet bar. There is also ample parking. The location is great also. The Fern Valley Inn is about a mile or less from town so you are far enough away that you don't have to deal with all the noise. You are close to Cafe Aroma and the Idyllwild Brewpub. The cost per night is reasonable compared to other places in Idyllwild. We paid $123. The Fern Valley Inn sits in a residential neighborhood so if you're looking to whoop it up, just be respectful of your surroundings.

Impromptu weekend getaway. We very much enjoyed Cabin was well kept with all the amenities in a quiet and off the beaten path location. The property was cute and well kept also. The owners were friendly and attentive. It is a perfect walk to restaurants/shopping (about a mile). If you prefer to stay in and relax the BBQ is steps away from most cabins Will definitely make this our go to when in Idyllwild We stayed in grotto (if I remember correctly) 5 nice view with a small fountain next to.

Great getaway for the weekend with the wife. This cabin is very affordable and has a Tesla charger.

I absolutely enjoyed this place. It's cabin feel, it's quirky artistic landscape and the fact that the owners are the friendliest people. It's got an old cabin feel but if you're looking for a 5 star hotel then you need to head to the Waldorf in rancho mirage. People stay here for a different type of experience and it was delivered. We can't wait to stay here again and support local busines

What a great night we had at this charming cabin In the woods. It was clean and quiet as can be. We were greeted by Gary upon arrival, who happened to be from our neighboring city Whittier. He was such a nice guy and made us feel welcome! We stayed in the "Hideaway" cabin which was off to the back side by itself. Perfectly tucked away for privacy. The room was decorated very nice. There was also a cute little fireplace in our room that was all set with a 3 hour log. It was a very nice touch. Close to town and all hiking. Just perfect!! We will be back!

Makes you feel like you're not in CA. - Pet friendly! - Close to downtown Idyllwild. - Cabins are comfortable and nestled in the woods. - Our cabin had a nice little patio deck with a table and chairs. - Cable television that also includes the Dodgers channel! - Full kitchen and bath. - The cabin also has air conditioning(not the best though). - This location has a pool, picnic area, BBQs, and even a ping pong table. - The cabin also felt pretty clean... for the most part. - The rates and prices are great! CONS: - The A/C unit (not central air) was kind of weak during the day when it got really hot. - The lounge chairs inside the cabin were kind of grody, especially the arm rests... - WIFI onsite, but it's really slow. PRO-TIP: - Just FYI, the kitchen sink DOES NOT have a garbage disposal. - Also, expect random thunderstorms during the summer. It was actually pretty cool to see and experience out in the mountains. - If you have VERIZON, the signal in certain parts of the complex is almost non existent.

The cabins are in the middle of beautiful, tall trees, a mini park, and pathways with wild flowers (summer). There's a flurry of activity from squirrels, chipmunks, bluejays, and woodpeckers. The family that owns it (Collin, Denise and Matt), is very friendly and accommodating. Downtown Idyllwild is walking distance from the cabins - slightly over a mile. If you like alpine settings, this is the right place. The cabins are duplexes with a large side and a smaller side. I take the large side as I prefer the large deck to enjoy a cup of coffee, read a book, take photos, watch the wildlife, or just enjoy the scenery. This setting renews my soul.

The property includes free on-site parking, Yale smart door locks that require a passcode for entry, free WiFi, a complimentary cold brew & kombucha station and a lively social space including gaming amenities like shuffleboard, Jenga and other board games. We enjoyed our 3-day stay in room 201 which included a king bed and a daybed. Seven of the rooms feature stunning electric fireplaces and this room was one of them. Our only complaint was that the Casper mattresses they use in their suites were way too soft. It's important to point out that there's no front desk in this establishment, but we did see staff at check-in and at various times throughout our stay. If we ever visit Idyllwild again, we will be booking another reservation at The Creekstone!

Within 5 minutes of arriving to our room, someone came to inform us that our son wasn't welcome because children under the age of 12 are prohibited. He also informed us that he would be charging us an additional $50 and that if there were any noise complaints, he would bring them to our attention immediately. First off, nowhere when booking does this hotel specify that children are prohibited. It's not clear unless you go to their policies page that it indicates children are 'discouraged'. Do you know why? Because the walls are paper thin. Our child was silent and asleep by 7:30pm but we could hear everything the adults next door were saying and watching on the TV (at reasonable volumes, mind you). And to top it all off, Google says this IS a kid-friendly hotel. Second, should you need anything, you can't get ahold of anyone. There is no front desk and you don't have any service so you can't call anyone or send a text through their SMS service. So I hope you don't need an extra towel or Kleenex because no one will be available to assist you. Except the guy who magically appears to charge you $50 and then is nowhere to be found. It's really too bad that such a nice hotel has such crappy service and is so unkind to families. They forget that parents are regular people too who enjoy get aways without kids and have plenty of parent friends who they will be informing to skip the Creekstone Inn and stay somewhere else.

The location and staff are truly superb -- friendly, welcoming, and in a great spot close to town -- but the room itself needs serious attention. The toilet was dirty when I arrived, and there was no bath mat. There were no proper utensils or paper products, aside from toilet paper. The floors were dirty and there was black hair everywhere, which was disappointing and made the room feel unclean. The listing shows a Jacuzzi tub, but it didn't work at all, and there wasn't even a plug to fill the tub. This was one of the main reasons I booked the room, so it was a letdown. I was also looking forward to the breakfast scones that the property advertises. Instead, we received dry scones, apple juice. One more thing future guests should know: the toilet is positioned only about half a foot from the sink, so you literally have to sit sideways. It's uncomfortable and should be mentioned in the room description. This hotel seems to cater mainly to Pacific Crest Trail hikers in the summer, which is fine, but the rooms should be advertised accurately so guests know what to expect. The staff and location are excellent, but the rooms need better cleaning, maintenance, and honest descriptions

If this is your first time to Idyllwild, this is great. Easy to find. Easy to walk to town. Quiet and away from town center. Budget between "cabin" and "hotel" FIRST TIME to Idyllwild. The address is on Hwy 243. Unlike other major roads, it is empty after 8pm - so don't worry that it might be noisy. It's not. On the plus side: If you've never been here, it's very easy to find. But also away from the center of town (but not so far that you can't walk to it) INNKEEPERS & STAFF The innkeepers who greeted us when we arrived and checked us out were very helpful and extremely friendly. There is a small shop for gifts in the lobby area. Some booking services might not have all of the right information. Call the front desk with questions. They are super helpful. PARKING Easy to find and plenty of parking out front ROOMS (Evergreen) We stayed in one of the original (older) rooms. It has been upgraded with new plumbing and a jacuzzi style jet tub alongside the shower. The room is spacious and comfortably fits all of your gear on one side of the room away from the bed. A big hearth in front of the fireplace is perfect for a make-shift table. The drawback to this particular room (Evergreen) is that you are under the stairs to the rooms above. Not terrible, as most people were in by 9pm. But you will hear them creaking up and down when they leave their rooms. You can't hear them in the rooms. There are other rooms that are not connected or under other people's rooms. Clean sheets Clean towels Nice shower (saloon doors on old shower) Separate toilet/tub room. Pillows are a little flat HVAC works well (workers came in to check it while we were there) Fun/Silly books and board games in the room. - Didn't use fireplace - Didn't use television - Just needed a spot to sleep and shower before the next day's adventure. This was perfect +. COMMON SPACES INSIDE; There is a fantastic common space in the main house/lobby. Large long tables for where they used to serve breakfast. (There is no breakfast service: hotel style coffee en suite) The long tables are great for spreading out maps, games, whatever needs a bunch of space outside of your room. OUTSIDE; 1. Back Deck: There's a warm, sunny deck, protected from wind and hwy sounds. Everyone's room opens onto this space. 2. Gazebo: A small 4 seat gazebo is in the southern garden area. With views of the creek area, this is a great spot to take a nice afternoon rest stop. Nice place to sit to read, or sketch, or just close your eyes for a minute and say "I'm NOT asleep". GETTING AROUND: TO TOWN: The inn is a perfect distance from town. About 7-10 minutes to walk, there's a path that leads from the back door of the inn to the edge of town. STRAWBERRY CREEK is what it's all about. Walking this path back and forth to town is FANTASTIC. The path to town might be THE MAIN SELLING POINT OF THE INN. The stairs down to the creek path are a little severe, but the path is VERY easy to walk. Driving to town feels silly = 2 minutes. IDYLLWILD PARK (& Campground) Perimeter Hike (4 miles). Strawberry Creek Inn is a short (2-4 block walk) to the campground. The perimeter trail isn't especially technical (although a little steep in some spots), but it's basically just across the street from the inn.
