The Creekstone is a newly renovated boutique hotel and stylish modern slant on a mountain lodge. It features 9 stylishly designed guest suites and is nestled in the serene landscape of historic Idyllwild. The property includes free on-site parking, Yale smart door locks that require a passcode for entry, free WiFi, a complimentary cold brew & kombucha station and a lively social space including gaming amenities like shuffleboard, Jenga and other board games. We enjoyed our 3-day stay in room 201 which included a king bed and a daybed. Seven of the rooms feature stunning electric fireplaces and this room was one of them. Our only complaint was that the Casper mattresses they use in their suites were way too soft. It's important to point out that there's no front desk in this establishment, but we did see staff at check-in and at various times throughout our stay. If we ever visit Idyllwild again, we will be booking another reservation at The Creekstone! read more

This small hotel is nicely done - it's modern, clean and beautiful. However, the service here was shockingly inhospitable and unavailable. Within 5 minutes of arriving to our room, someone came to inform us that our son wasn't welcome because children under the age of 12 are prohibited. He also informed us that he would be charging us an additional $50 and that if there were any noise complaints, he would bring them to our attention immediately. First off, nowhere when booking does this hotel specify that children are prohibited. It's not clear unless you go to their policies page that it indicates children are 'discouraged'. Do you know why? Because the walls are paper thin. Our child was silent and asleep by 7:30pm but we could hear everything the adults next door were saying and watching on the TV (at reasonable volumes, mind you). And to top it all off, Google says this IS a kid-friendly hotel. Second, should you need anything, you can't get ahold of anyone. There is no front desk and you don't have any service so you can't call anyone or send a text through their SMS service. So I hope you don't need an extra towel or Kleenex because no one will be available to assist you. Except the guy who magically appears to charge you $50 and then is nowhere to be found. It's really too bad that such a nice hotel has such crappy service and is so unkind to families. They forget that parents are regular people too who enjoy get aways without kids and have plenty of parent friends who they will be informing to skip the Creekstone Inn and stay somewhere else. read more

The newly reopened Creekstone inn is a stunner! We have stayed several times at the neighboring Grand Idyllwild Lodge and decided to try the Creekstone on this trip to Idyllwild. The remodel maintained the rustic charm of the previous inn, like the massive walls of large stones and ultra cool twisted wood bannister, while adding a modern, eclectic flair. The lobby has a bar, game area, and nice sitting area in front of a fireplace. Outside there are fire pits and rocking chairs. We were told there are plans to build an outdoor swimming pool. The rooms are quite large with the same mix of rustic and modern decor as the lobby. I especially love the bathrooms that have beautiful tile work. Our room had a large stone fireplace and a very comfy king bed with luxury linens. We faced the street and it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The inn is located within walking distance of the quaint town of Idyllwild and is close to hiking trails. It's nice to have another upscale lodging option in Idyllwild and we would definitely stay at the Creekstone again on our next trip. read more

I recently had the opportunity to visit Idyllwild, CA and was charmed not only by the town, but by the quaint, eclectic flavor of the Creekstone Inn. The lobby comes equipped with a working gas fireplace, beer bar, and a beautiful vintage wooden shuffleboard table (more on woodwork in a minute). I really loved all the fabulous Halloween decorations! The mini-Elvis was only one of the many skeletons hanging out downstairs, some sitting, "drinking at the counter" and some doing yoga, really fun. As far as the woodwork goes, the gorgeous hand-carved staircase that led me upstairs to my room, was exquisitely crafted and impossible to ignore - there's a careful attention to detail here. The front door and room code locks were extremely easy to use, I've been in hotels where they are a nightmare. My accommodations were roomy and bright and the view of the mountains from my window was lovely. The blinds darkened the room enough for the mornings spent over-sleeping in the super comfy bed. I also thought that the white noise machine near the bed was a nice addition. The room had a cute reading area, a small fridge and coffee maker. The ice bucket was topped with an actual loose wine opener, which surprised me. The snacks offered here are not free, but they are plentiful and good (I loved the dark chocolate-covered caramels). In the bathroom, there was an impressive and spacious glass-partitioned shower, completed with subway tiles. Finally, l loved the sign behind the bed that says "Fun" surrounded by popcorn bulbs. Where do the owners get these awesome additions? I slept really well here and I will come back to the Creekstone again. I can only imagine how breathtaking both Idyllwild and this hotel must be at Christmas time. read more

Loved Creekstone Inn from the moment we walked in until the following day when we left. The hostess is so lovely. The rooms are clean and super cozy. I really did not want to leave our room. The Inn is for adults only and is a beautiful haven. The Inn has a lot of space for hanging outside of your room such as in the lobby, living room or front corridor. A very easy and convenient virtual check in. Adorably cute space that has obviously been redone recently. We had a number to text for any questions or issues. The place was quiet and just a 5 min walk into town. Rooms were clean and comfortable. If I had to point out a complaint it would just be that the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors easily. And, our pillows became flat and unsupportive when you laid on them. The bed and bedding was extremely comfortable though! I would definitely recommend and can't wait to visit again. read more

The Creekstone Inn is well decorated. Here is why I will NOT be staying there again: After booking, I received no confirmation email, and they waited until 1 day before my trip (when it's too late to cancel and get a refund) to tell us there is no front desk or staff on the property. First thing we see when we walk into our room is a highlighted document to sign with rules and policies not previously advertised. (As of today I've saved their relevant website provisions and nothing is advertised there either.) Housekeeping did not clean our room during our stay, but we still tipped when we checked out. Soon after checking out, I receive a receipt with two different charges for $45, one unexplained and one for a "damaged linen fee". I called and Michelle said there was a stain on the bedsheets (there was a small mark of blueberry sauce on the fitted bedsheet). I asked if they attempted to launder it, and Michelle said yes of course it has been. I asked her to send me photo after it was laundered. She me the attached photo, showing they hadn't even stripped the bed, let alone laundered it. She then told me they will send it to a professional laundering service which will return the item on 1/4/2023, and if they get it out, the charge will be reimbursed. Looks like they are just making this up as they go, as none of this was ever provided prior to charging my card. Michelle also promised a manager would call me on 1/4, but she refused to provide his contact information, or the owner's contact information. On 1/4, I received no contact from anyone, and they still have my money. If you're looking to stay at a place that values transparency and customer service, I would highly recommend you search elsewhere. read more

My wife and I made a very spontaneous trip to Idyllwild to escape the heat and do some Geocaching. My wife made our reservation online the same morning we went up to Idyllwild. The reservation process was extremely easy. In short order I received a text, email, and phone call confirming our reservation, and explaining the easy instructions for self accessing the lodge and our room. Upon arriving we discovered a very charming, comfortable and well appointed room with everything one would need to insure all needs would be met. The entire facility including our room was exceptionally clean. The bed was beyond comfortable, resulting in a great nights sleep. The lodge is located in a great location for easy access to the center of town and numerous restaurants and shops. Our host checked with us via text to make sure we didn't need anything and offered to help if we did. But as I said above, we did not want or need anything. It was perfect! read more

Asked for a portable fan for white noise and was told no because we don't have any. Asked for extra blankets and was told we don't have anything. They finally did bring a felt blanket. Fire place is electric and not advertised as so. TV cable only gets basic channels (Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS) Could not watch ESPN. Cheep plastic cups, no bottled water, no fridge, no iron, and no ice. Customers deserve better when spending over $250 a night. You're just booking a room. All other things you'd expect from a hotel, inn, or b&b are missing. Below satisfactory customer service. And to top it all off we spilled coffee on the sheets and were charged $170 for linen damage! The sheets are pure white, no color. How hard is it to wash coffee out of white sheets?!?!? It's called bleach! read more

On a whim, I treated myself with a visit to the charming hamlet of Idyllwild, a picturesque winter wonderland this time of the year, on New Year's Eve weekend. I swear the population of the town doubled when I arrived. That's an old joke transcribed herein by an old joke himself. Seriously, Idyllwild is a darling place to visit, especially in the winter and especially when one has spent a few sunny days in very-nearby Palm Springs. I chose to stay at two hotels, one on each night of my mini vacay: The Creekstone Inn and the Grand Idyllwild Lodge. Coincidentally, these two harbors of hospitality are a one-minute stroll from one another and, although they are markedly different, both offer fabulous experiences. In both cases, cleanliness, safety, service, and visual beauty are the qualities that both hotels share. My rooms were noticeably spotless (under the bed, windowsills, behind the television, etc.). These may be the cleanest hotel rooms I've loved in over 10 years. Both hotels appear to be regularly cleaned and sanitized for COVID-19 and its plethora of variants...a good thing these days, and I felt completely safe. And the beds. I could have used an extra day at each hotel just to sleep and relax in the comfort and high-quality offered to me. The service I received from the (obviously) trained professionals cannot be missed: Raven (who consistently goes above and beyond and always with an air of cheery calm and a smile a mile wide), Rick (who cooks a terrific breakfast and is a great conversationalist), Nathan, and Aralia (the married couple who are consummate hospitality professionals and who oversee both hotels) really know what they are doing...and they do it so well! The Grand Lodge possesses a distinct Frank Lloyd Wright look and feel and the rooms a HUGE and STUNNING! I really want to return in order to write the next great American novel; the vibe exudes style, comfort, quiet and relaxation. Creekstone is one of the coolest looking lodges I've ever seen! Clearly, someone with exceptional taste in design had a hand in the intriguing décor of this marvelous hot spot without compromising the rustic and earthy charm. While the Grand offers service of a more-traditional nature, everything at Creekstone is done via email and text. I must not get out that much because this concept was entirely new to me but met my needs to perfection. I was able to express my laundry list of wishes in person via phone at the Grand and via effortless electronic communication at Creekstone. I am anxious to return to Idyllwild and to patronize the Grand Lodge and Creekstone again...they both put the "Idyll" in Idyllwild. read more

Still very much the same decor which was pleasant, It's no longer a BnB but that's okay, we stayed in room 1 both times and enjoyed it. One item I'd recommend they change is the toilet paper is very cheap one-ply haha I know I know it's stupid reason for removing a star but between the very thin one ply and the games that are missing pieces in lobby that's only reason for the 4 stars. Newly remodeled throughout. The room was nice and clean with a very contemporary decor. The check-in is 100% virtual - no human contact. Given the continued impact of Covid, this is a plus. That said, we still take precautions with surfaces in the room. Creekstone will definitely be an option to consider next time. Had the pleasure of returning to the Creekstone Inn for the second time - this year it was so we could attend the Idyllwild Jazz Festival - which means there were a lot of people in town. Staying at the Creekstone was very relaxing - close enough to all of the after hours activities going on in town yet removed enough to offer a tranquil mountain weekend experience. Each of their rooms have a different theme to the décor. First time we were in "Fall" and this time is was "Out West" with a very definite cowboy ambiance - but not in a tacky way - more of a tribute. OK, lets talk about the room - big king size bed - very comfortable. Like all hotel rooms, I always tell myself that I wish I brought my own pillow, but I guess I just like my pillow - we slept like babies, with the windows open enjoying the cool mountain air of summer. The room was not overly large, but it was comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, with a shower/tub combo and a single vanity with sufficient counter space for the two of us. The only real issue is the vinyl flooring that is cut about an inch short against the tub and one of the walls and what is underneath is very tacky and borderline disgusting - it's obvious that there has been moisture underneath. If there was anything else to complain about, they would have lost a star for this - but the truth is I wish I cold give them 6 stars. So, lets talk about the Inn itself, starting with the Innkeeper, Laurie - a sweetheart who will do what ever she can to ensure your stay is pleasant. As a side note, to show what kind of person she is, she was one of the volunteers at the Jazz Festival working the Rotary Coffee booth - so to me, it was obvious that she puts others needs above her own - a very pleasant Innkeeper who maintains a beautiful property. The Inn has a beautiful exterior wall of smooth river rocks - not the half-rock façade that builders use today for the look - this is the real deal. Enter the spacious downstairs and you'll see even more stone work inside than you can see outside - it's amazing. There are lots of sofas and chairs to get comfortable in, in front of the massive fireplace as well as tables to sit around and visit with other guests (which we did over a bottle of wine), eat or just play games or do a puzzle. There is a large commercial style kitchen with a good sized flat top grill next to a 6-burner range. What we put to good use was the Stainless Steel Barbeque grill right outside the kitchen door on the deck, that provided a beautiful view of Lily Rock and the mountainside as the sun set casting an awesome orange glow across the trees before being cast into darkness. It was a great meal - there are lots of spices to make a great steak rub, and it was just a great way to spend a quite evening on Saturday, after enjoying the party atmosphere Friday night and a day in the sun at the Jazz Festival all day Saturday. One more feature I just have to share - its the incredible Manzanita Staircase going up to the second level...OMG - I don't think I have ever seen anything so beautiful. So, take the time to come explore the local art community in the San Jacinto Mountains of Idyllwild - come and spend the night and make sure you stay at the Creekstone Inn, and I guarantee you a good time that you'll be looking to repeat, sooner, rather than later. read more

We had a lovely stay here. Marilyn was a very gracious hostess. I liked everything about this place, but... Marilyn did not wear a mask, and other guests, following suit, were hanging around in indoor public areas, playing pool, chatting and making meals, also without masks. As a result, I felt extremely uncomfortable about having to walk through these spaces to access my room. My family and i was booked for 6/6-6/10/18. When we pulled up I was praying I was at the wrong place, but I wasn't. This place is nasty! We couldn't even stay the night. The water is brown! The bathroom has mold! The carpet is nasty! I couldn't even put my baby down on the ground....We had room 210, 211 and 212! I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy( if I had one)... The hotel is very comfortable, however with no management on-site resolving an issue is a major problem. When you call because there is an issue with the toilet and someone knock on the door and hands you a plunger, that is not acceptable. While waiting and you need to use the restroom you decide to use the restroom in the lobby only to discover it is locked plus you are later told management requires that restroom to be locked at all times. When asking to be moved to a different room you are told there are no rooms available. Both that evening and early the following morning ours was the only car in the lot. So, apparently management didn't want to clean 2 rooms. I contacted management twice requesting to talk to the general manager. So far I have not been contacted on the last 10 days. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING SOMEWHERE ELSE. The management of Creekstone Inn and The Grand Idywild Lodge (same team) do not care about their paying guests!!! read more

Great place to stay in Idyllwild. Right price. Located at the top of the town, and several restaurants are walking close. Idyllwild's small downtown is about a half mile away. This charming house is a perfect getaway spot in the perfect getaway village. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with heating and A/C (which was nice because we had some intense temperature drops during our stay), and a large kitchen for everyone to use. The location is a comfortable walking distance from shops, restaurants, and Idyllwild town centre. Checking in was easy and the couple who owns and runs the place live on site, so they're available for emergencies, outside of their already generous office hours. The hosts were also very helpful with information about the hiking trails, sights, and food places around town. My husband and I cannot wait to come back! read more

There was great communication with staff prior to our visit and we were provided with instructions that made checking in and accessing our accommodations a breeze. Outside of the traditional B&B, this was called a "B&K" which stands for Bed & Kitchen. Although that means you don't get breakfast included, you get unlimited use of a full kitchen all day every day, which we found to be a significant advantage. There was a grill on the deck and a full sized public fridge that your food doesn't disappear from (in fact people kept beer and such in there without issue). We went to dinner one night an stashed our leftovers for lunch the next day. Everything else was great. The house has a large public area, two decks, a pool table, nice fireplace seating area...almost every room has a fireplace with a couple of exceptions and many have amenities like jacuzzi tubs, etc. The only minus was the mattress, which was in need of replacement, but overall our experience was Very positive and we will return. The staff is friendly, rooms are nice and clean, kitchen is extremely useful, location is great, town is great and will convince you that you have left SoCal! Worth the trip, particularly for Southern California residents! read more

We stayed here to celebrate an anniversary and what a nice time we had!! We stayed mid-week and ended up being the only ones in the building, which made for a really nice, quiet stay. We stayed in the Wildlife room, which featured a king-sized bed, a really nice window seat and a jacuzzi. There is also a little "patio" area off the upstairs that is private and was a nice place to have a glass of wine, enjoy the outdoors and relax before going out to dinner. Our room featured two arm chairs, an armoire with iron and the tv. We were able to check out the other rooms in the Inn and I really loved the Spring room(very bright and airy!) and the Winter room(this one was super elegant and looked more high-end than any other room). The downstairs features a pool table, a large "family room" style area with couches, tables/chairs, board games, books, a fireplace, a "business center" and the office staffed by the proprietors, who are happy to give suggestions for dinner and recreational activities. There is also a kitchen downstairs to which guests have full-access. The day we were leaving, a deep cleaning was planned, but nothing honestly looked like it needed it. The carpets were thoroughly scrubbed and all of the uphostery was cleaned, which is nice to know! It was a very romantic, relaxing place to stay. read more

My boyfriend and I spent the night here on Valentine's day. It was one of the few places that did not require a 2 night minumum stay during the weekend. Although it was a little more pricey than advertized because of the holiday weekend, I think it was well worth it. We stayed in one of the themed rooms called "out west." Yes, it was a bit eclectic with an animal skin rug, bullhorns on the wall, lassos, cowboy boots and guns as decor, but it was a nice spacious room, and the decor gave it a funky ambiance. The room had a king sized bed, a fire place, and a small flat screen TV. It felt much more "homey" then staying in a regular hotel room. The only thing I would suggest is to have thicker curtains (we hung up scarves to block the morning sunlight). Also, they allow duraflame logs in the fireplace, and since this room is situated above the downstairs main fireplace, I would suggest having a fire going to avoid smelling smoke from the fireplace below. This was also suggested by the owner and she actually started it for us when we went to town. I can't end my review with the room itself because Creekstone Inn has much more to offer. It has a fully stocked kitchen so we were able to buy food and cook it ourselves (If you plan to do this, I would suggest buying food before getting to Idyllwild because the local market was a bit limited). For me, this was so much better than fighting the crowds at an overpriced restaurant for Valentine's day. Instead, we just cooked dinner, had wine and enjoyed a relaxing evening together. We almost had the whole place to ourselves. After dinner, we made cookies and took that and the wine to our room. Of course we did the dishes first :-) The main area of the Inn also has a large open area with a fireplace, leather couches, a bar and table, and a smaller area with a pool table. The pool table area was separated by a stone wall which is nice if there are different groups of people hanging out downstairs. There is a computer and free wifi available although I did not use either. A land line is free to use anytime since cell phone service can be spotty. There is also a separate area off the main room for dining and a deck off the kitchen which is perfect for having breakfast outside on a sunny morning. Coffee is prepared every morning and tea is available all day. Instead, we decided to walk over to Cafe Aroma for breakfast before heading home. The owners of the Inn were also very friendly and helpful since it was our first time in Idyllwild. The Inn is a little ways from the center of town but the area was quiet. We drove to the market but the center of town is definitely walkable. I really enjoyed Idyllwild and would stay here again. . read more

LORI, the innkeeper, is the BEST! We just stayed 3 fabulous nights and loved it. The rate was great and the kitchen huge and always tea all the time and the room was fabulous. Ok, a little too much foliage (the room was called AUTUMN) but, it was still nice. Just take the wreath outta the bathroom and that would tone it down a bit.Just my suggestion! The decorations were beautiful and very comforting. Our stay was perfect, we didn't hear a sound from other guests. For dinner we walked to Cafe Aroma. The village is within walking distance of Creekstone. The next day, we made lunch in the fabulous kitchen. It has everything you need so feel free to bring your own food to make!
