Quirky, cool and the perfect retreat to get some fresh air & hiking done in the San Bernardino National Forest. Highly recommended if you're a fan of cannabis and wish to partake in the privacy of your chalet (Room 420). Service was great and the breakfast waffles were delicious. The closest food options are about a 10 minute drive into town, but fortunately there are delivery services for Idyllwilde if you're lazy or too lit to drive from Hicksville Pines (lots of CHP along 243 so don't even risk it). I had a great stay and would definitely come back during the colder, snowier months. Truly a unique experience if you're looking to get away in the Southland. Thank you HP staff!

Just stayed here this past weekend, and I must say I loved every moment. Went here for a little gateway with my boyfriend for our anniversary, we stayed at the Dita and the Third Man rooms. Both rooms had their own unique feel to it. The staff was friendly and provided free breakfast. There is a rec room where you can hang out and play games, listen to music and enjoy some pinball and games. Would recommend for anyone who is looking to just take a mini vacation somewhere cute and unique!

Themed rooms are amazing. I stayed in Mondo Trasho and loved every minute of it. Came here to avoid July 4th fireworks, and not a peep. I tried the hot tub, free and amazing breakfast, archery "range", and bonfire room. All perfect. Already booked next year.

Finally got to return to Hicksville Pines! This time we stayed in the 420. David was a very friendly and helpful innkeeper. Breakfast and the rec room were so fun (they were closed last time we came over the pandemic). The outdoor camping kitchen is well-organized and easy to use. Got lots of love from the resident kitties, Norma and Ed. Definitely want to keep coming back and getting to check out more of the chalets. Oh and EV charging was a sweet added bonus to our experience.

Fourth adventure with Hicksville. As per usual the stay was perfect and just what our group needed. This round I stayed in the great northern lodge. The space is perfectly themed and huge. It had everything you could need. Checking in was a breeze with Melissa the innkeeper. Norma and Ed were there to greet us and are so sweet. Thanks Hicksville, til next time

This is such a fun and unique stay! We choose the Dita Room to celebrate our anniversary and it was perfect! (Only thing we wish was in the room was a TV lol) But the bathtub was heavenly, the bed was so cozy, and the hot tub was perfect for the chillier nights. The entire property is fun and full of lil games like ping pong, Jenga, and then the arcade games inside of the rec room too. The breakfast was bomb! Thanks to all the staff at Hicksville, we really enjoyed our time spent with you!

I've stayed here twice now- one in the Nerds cabin and one in Haunted Mansion- and both times were a freaking delight. Awesome, clean rooms, lots to do on the property, 5 minutes from the town. Breakfast was delicious. Also very friendly on sight kitties who come right up to you for snuggles. I wanna stay in all the different cabins.

The staff here are so sweet and kind. From checking in to just chatting, they're welcoming and cool. I stayed in the 420 room for a few days. The only negative I have is that the living room for me is not comfortable. The couch had no support or comfort whatsoever(very dingy look and feel to it). Which means I spent no time in there watching movies or hanging out. This is why I booked this room...that was my plan, get loaded, relax and watch movies. So I spent 90% of my time in the bed with my laptop(thank goodness I brought it . Yes, there are many other amenities that are on the grounds, but that's not what I personally went for. With that being said, idk if I would want that cabin again.

Ask the Community - Hicksville Pines

Are there places to eat within walking distance?

No, you've got to drive into Idyllwild - about 5 minutes. Tons of great spots there. However, Hicksville Pines includes a great breakfast of waffles, eggs and bacon to get you started!

    When is check out?

    11am

    Do the rooms have AC?

Yes, all of the rooms have ac in them :)

Do they host any live music or concerts?

No they do not but they have a rec room with a jukebox, pinball machines, arcade games and a large flat screen tv. We love it!

    Is there good wifi here?

We have super fast free WiFi

Is it uncomfy hot in June here?

This is a subjective question and therefore can not be answered without a psychic that understands your personal comfort levels with temperature. That said... we have AC.

Is some sort of LAKE, RIVER, POND, pool etc that we can SWIM in and relax in nature hopefully? NEED SUGGESTIONS!!! Maybe a beautiful park to take small boast...ets Thanks in advance!!!!!

Lake Hemet would be your best bet for that :)

Do you have to add a name on guest details besides the actual card holder ? For example of it says 2 guests for a room does their name have to be added or do we just check in together at front desk?

We do not need the name or ID of your guest unless they look under 21 years old.

    Does the 4?

This seems like an illuminati type of question and we've said several times, we're not illuminati!!

Is there a restaurant or food nearby Incase guests get hungry?

We're about 5min from the town of Idyllwild which has a ton of great restaurants. We have breakfast available on site as well as a grill if you want to grill some dinner.

    What time is check in?

It's whatever time you tell us between 2p and 11p.

Does the 420 room smell like weed?

A little but we have a Rabbit air purifier in there that does a great job

    Is it handicap accessable?

The Third Man Room is, yes!

    What's the cancelation policy?

50% for any cancellation. 100% for cancellations within a week of your stay.

We enjoyed our 3-day stay in room 201 which included a king bed and a daybed. Seven of the rooms feature stunning electric fireplaces and this room was one of them. Our only complaint was that the Casper mattresses they use in their suites were way too soft. It's important to point out that there's no front desk in this establishment, but we did see staff at check-in and at various times throughout our stay. Within 5 minutes of arriving to our room, someone came to inform us that our son wasn't welcome because children under the age of 12 are prohibited. He also informed us that he would be charging us an additional $50 and that if there were any noise complaints, he would bring them to our attention immediately. First off, nowhere when booking does this hotel specify that children are prohibited. It's not clear unless you go to their policies page that it indicates children are 'discouraged'. Do you know why? Because the walls are paper thin. Our child was silent and asleep by 7:30pm but we could hear everything the adults next door were saying and watching on the TV (at reasonable volumes, mind you). And to top it all off, Google says this IS a kid-friendly hotel. Second, should you need anything, you can't get ahold of anyone. There is no front desk and you don't have any service so you can't call anyone or send a text through their SMS service. So I hope you don't need an extra towel or Kleenex because no one will be available to assist you. Except the guy who magically appears to charge you $50 and then is nowhere to be found. It's really too bad that such a nice hotel has such crappy service and is so unkind to families. They forget that parents are regular people too who enjoy get aways without kids and have plenty of parent friends who they will be informing to skip the Creekstone Inn and stay somewhere else.

The room itself was IMMACULATE, as were the other rooms that Gary let me tours, and the Lodge as a whole. The room had a small refrigerator, TV w/VCR, coffee/hot chocolate/tea makings, small toiletries, fluffy towels, and a fantastic deck. It was all we needed and more. Breakfast was yummy on both days, with fruit, yogurt, sausage, and homemade muffins/pancakes/french toast offered, along with OJ and coffee. On our last night, Gary had a fire going and we sat until evening chatting away. It was a fantastic stay, and I recommend the Lodge for anyone who loves B&Bs and loves to be social.

The photos had 2 end tables with lamps on them, The tables and lamps were removed and replaced with cheap short metal tables with no lamps. TV required log-in ID and password that were not provided inadvance nor in any welcome manual. Texting the manager/representative provided that information that was incorrect. We hoped to watch the World Cup USA game on tv but the password they gave out was wrong. They did not indicate that their password (ldy2025) began with a Capital "I" (eye) NOT a lowercase "l" (el). We realized this the next morning, but game was over. Regardless, we couldn't watch TV in the anyway. There was only one large upholstered armchair. The chair was next to the TV and you could move the chair to face the tv but you would be 3-4 feet from the tv screen. I imagine both of us could sit on the edge of the bed. There is a small kitchen in the room with stovetop, sink, microwave and refrigerator, with NO TABLE. There was no desk. The only place to eat your prepared meal is on the bed, the ONE armchair or the flooor. The room was very dark until the neighbor arrived or chose to move their car. Outside one of the 2 windows was a car parked within 2 feet of our window. All activity with that vehicle (coming and going) was heard and seen, car headlights in the window and through the blinds. Ridiculous! The bathroom was horrible with badly repaired holes in the walls, cheap dingy vinyl floors, very small room with a large step up to a platform with the toilet and tub. This was odd and very uncomfortable. We own many properties listed on Airbnb and VRBO with over 20 experience and we know how to provide comfortable housing, to which the guest will want to return. This unfortunately is not one of them.

If this is your first time to Idyllwild, this is great. Easy to find. Easy to walk to town. Quiet and away from town center. Budget between "cabin" and "hotel" FIRST TIME to Idyllwild. The address is on Hwy 243. Unlike other major roads, it is empty after 8pm - so don't worry that it might be noisy. It's not. On the plus side: If you've never been here, it's very easy to find. But also away from the center of town (but not so far that you can't walk to it) INNKEEPERS & STAFF The innkeepers who greeted us when we arrived and checked us out were very helpful and extremely friendly. There is a small shop for gifts in the lobby area. Some booking services might not have all of the right information. Call the front desk with questions. They are super helpful. PARKING Easy to find and plenty of parking out front ROOMS (Evergreen) We stayed in one of the original (older) rooms. It has been upgraded with new plumbing and a jacuzzi style jet tub alongside the shower. The room is spacious and comfortably fits all of your gear on one side of the room away from the bed. A big hearth in front of the fireplace is perfect for a make-shift table. The drawback to this particular room (Evergreen) is that you are under the stairs to the rooms above. Not terrible, as most people were in by 9pm. But you will hear them creaking up and down when they leave their rooms. You can't hear them in the rooms. There are other rooms that are not connected or under other people's rooms. Clean sheets Clean towels Nice shower (saloon doors on old shower) Separate toilet/tub room. Pillows are a little flat HVAC works well (workers came in to check it while we were there) Fun/Silly books and board games in the room. - Didn't use fireplace - Didn't use television - Just needed a spot to sleep and shower before the next day's adventure. This was perfect +. COMMON SPACES INSIDE; There is a fantastic common space in the main house/lobby. Large long tables for where they used to serve breakfast. (There is no breakfast service: hotel style coffee en suite) The long tables are great for spreading out maps, games, whatever needs a bunch of space outside of your room. OUTSIDE; 1. Back Deck: There's a warm, sunny deck, protected from wind and hwy sounds. Everyone's room opens onto this space. 2. Gazebo: A small 4 seat gazebo is in the southern garden area. With views of the creek area, this is a great spot to take a nice afternoon rest stop. Nice place to sit to read, or sketch, or just close your eyes for a minute and say "I'm NOT asleep". GETTING AROUND: TO TOWN: The inn is a perfect distance from town. About 7-10 minutes to walk, there's a path that leads from the back door of the inn to the edge of town. STRAWBERRY CREEK is what it's all about. Walking this path back and forth to town is FANTASTIC. The path to town might be THE MAIN SELLING POINT OF THE INN. The stairs down to the creek path are a little severe, but the path is VERY easy to walk. Driving to town feels silly = 2 minutes. IDYLLWILD PARK (& Campground) Perimeter Hike (4 miles). Strawberry Creek Inn is a short (2-4 block walk) to the campground. The perimeter trail isn't especially technical (although a little steep in some spots), but it's basically just across the street from the inn.

The location and staff are truly superb -- friendly, welcoming, and in a great spot close to town -- but the room itself needs serious attention. The toilet was dirty when I arrived, and there was no bath mat. There were no proper utensils or paper products, aside from toilet paper. The floors were dirty and there was black hair everywhere, which was disappointing and made the room feel unclean. The listing shows a Jacuzzi tub, but it didn't work at all, and there wasn't even a plug to fill the tub. This was one of the main reasons I booked the room, so it was a letdown. I was also looking forward to the breakfast scones that the property advertises. Instead, we received dry scones, apple juice. One more thing future guests should know: the toilet is positioned only about half a foot from the sink, so you literally have to sit sideways. It's uncomfortable and should be mentioned in the room description. This hotel seems to cater mainly to Pacific Crest Trail hikers in the summer, which is fine, but the rooms should be advertised accurately so guests know what to expect.
