5 stars! What a delightful little escape! We stayed just one…read morenight in this absolutely adorable cabin, and it instantly felt like a warm, homey retreat. Spacious, Has big rooms, fresh towels, and a cozy vibe that made it hard to leave. The fireplace was super easy to use and kept the entire place toasty. The kitchen is large and wonderfully stocked with all the appliances you could need we baked and cooked throughout our stay. Outside, the surroundings are stunning! peaceful and beautiful, with nature all around. Even though nearby homes are somewhat close, the layout and trees make it feel completely private you hardly notice. The only suggestion is that we couldn't quite figure out how to crank up the TV volume, so make sure to bring portable speaker for movie night. Highly recommend, it's the perfect cozy getaway! We'd love to come back for longer next time. Lisa, Terry, and Joyce were amazing at the front desk!! Our cabin was called the creek suite I believe!

The staff at the reception desk were super helpful and gave us suggestions of things to do for the two nights we stayed. The cabin was cute and perfect for 2 people to stay in. It was clean and presentable. The queen size bed did not work well for us. We were pretty cramped and the bed wasn't the most comfortable. I wish that I had brought my pillows from home, but decided against it before we hit the road. I would recommend for a weekend getaway. Idyllwild is a beautiful place and although we weren't the most comfortable for two nights, we still had a great time.

We had the Fir cabin and the parking for this cabin is right behind it, so it was very convenient. They had a fireplace in the room, which made it that much for "cozy cabin" feels. You need to bring your own firewood, but there is a guy in town that sells it. Comfy beds, comfy sofa. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at the Fireside Inn Pinyon room for 1 night. We loved the convenient location, we were able…read moreto walk to all of the places we shopped or ate at. The Pros- The pillows and bed were comfortable. It was pretty clean for a cabin in the woods. They had wifi and a smart tv. They have a fridge, coffee machine and dishes/silverware. The room is rustic but charming. It was a great and convenient location. The Cons- The bathroom was really small, with no counter space. The window coverings do not keep much light out so it was hard to sleep with it being so bright. There is no one there to check you in. The entire check in is through text message and if you don't have good reception it is hard to get the map to download. The Pinyon sign was not easy for us to find. The times that I spoke to someone on the phone I found that they were not very friendly and sort of curt. I'm not sensitive so it didn't bother me, it was just my observation. Overall we found the Fireside Inn a great place for a short stay. We had a memorable time in Idyllwild and would still stay here again.

4.5 Stars! (May / Warm 50º - 78ºF)…read moreWhen we arrived, previous guests had a very smokey fire in the room. It was a little difficult for me to get any sleep the first night because of the smoke smell. But airing it out the next day (and a 10mile hike) helped! AS IDYLLWILD STARTER SPOT = 5-stars! If this is your first time to Idyllwild, this is great. Easy to find. Easy to walk to town. Quiet and away from town center. Budget between "cabin" and "hotel" FIRST TIME to Idyllwild. The address is on Hwy 243. Unlike other major roads, it is empty after 8pm - so don't worry that it might be noisy. It's not. On the plus side: If you've never been here, it's very easy to find. But also away from the center of town (but not so far that you can't walk to it) INNKEEPERS & STAFF The innkeepers who greeted us when we arrived and checked us out were very helpful and extremely friendly. There is a small shop for gifts in the lobby area. Some booking services might not have all of the right information. Call the front desk with questions. They are super helpful. PARKING Easy to find and plenty of parking out front ROOMS (Evergreen) We stayed in one of the original (older) rooms. It has been upgraded with new plumbing and a jacuzzi style jet tub alongside the shower. The room is spacious and comfortably fits all of your gear on one side of the room away from the bed. A big hearth in front of the fireplace is perfect for a make-shift table. The drawback to this particular room (Evergreen) is that you are under the stairs to the rooms above. Not terrible, as most people were in by 9pm. But you will hear them creaking up and down when they leave their rooms. You can't hear them in the rooms. There are other rooms that are not connected or under other people's rooms. Clean sheets Clean towels Nice shower (saloon doors on old shower) Separate toilet/tub room. Pillows are a little flat HVAC works well (workers came in to check it while we were there) Fun/Silly books and board games in the room. - Didn't use fireplace - Didn't use television - Just needed a spot to sleep and shower before the next day's adventure. This was perfect +. COMMON SPACES INSIDE; There is a fantastic common space in the main house/lobby. Large long tables for where they used to serve breakfast. (There is no breakfast service: hotel style coffee en suite) The long tables are great for spreading out maps, games, whatever needs a bunch of space outside of your room. OUTSIDE; 1. Back Deck: There's a warm, sunny deck, protected from wind and hwy sounds. Everyone's room opens onto this space. 2. Gazebo: A small 4 seat gazebo is in the southern garden area. With views of the creek area, this is a great spot to take a nice afternoon rest stop. Nice place to sit to read, or sketch, or just close your eyes for a minute and say "I'm NOT asleep". GETTING AROUND: TO TOWN: The inn is a perfect distance from town. About 7-10 minutes to walk, there's a path that leads from the back door of the inn to the edge of town. STRAWBERRY CREEK is what it's all about. Walking this path back and forth to town is FANTASTIC. The path to town might be THE MAIN SELLING POINT OF THE INN. The stairs down to the creek path are a little severe, but the path is VERY easy to walk. Driving to town feels silly = 2 minutes. IDYLLWILD PARK (& Campground) Perimeter Hike (4 miles). Strawberry Creek Inn is a short (2-4 block walk) to the campground. The perimeter trail isn't especially technical (although a little steep in some spots), but it's basically just across the street from the inn.

Go here every time you visit idyllwild! Not only is it a REAL small business run by real people,…read morebut it is cozy, always clean, and so accessible. Raj is the owner and truthfully has always given us such amazing service and conversation. The people who work at the front desk besides him are always personable and helpful. If you're looking for a super safe, clean, and affordable place in idyllwild stay here! I have been coming here for years and can vouch that rain, snow, or hot sun, there is incredible accommodations and people waiting to serve you. I think sometimes people forget small businesses do their best to give the absolute most they can with the budget and employees they have and I think the bunkhouse has only improved since I started staying here on weekend trips for the last few years. So I have always been gracious with the times I have had low shampoo in the complimentary soaps in the shower or an appliance being spotty. I know they are doing their best and they try to resolve it as quickly as they can when I've brought it up to them. I love the cabin style rooms, and have stayed in the different versions depending on how many people come with me. In the winter, you feel like you're in your own little cabin with the old wall heater watching the snow drip off the roof from the front room window. The kitchenette is always clean and generous with Teas and coffees, a mini fridge, plates, cutlery, etc. In the summer and spring you can watch birds make their nests in the trellis vines near the roof posts. It is whimsical for my fellow whimsy people, and secluded despite it being all one long building, if you're looking for a quiet getaway. I've had great conversations with people outside their rooms where there are small chairs and tables for getting some fresh morning air and listening to the music nature has to offer. It gives you the community and warm welcomes that they advertise, and whether your room neighbors are just hikers passing through or returning visitors, I've always had such a fun time chatting when we're sitting outside enjoying the fresh mountain air. This vibe is to die for, I ask anyone looking for somewhere to stay to look not further than here. Support small businesses and stay here for your next night away or weekend trip. I love this place with my whole heart and soul! If I could give this place a million stars I would. Go Bunkhouse !

I recently stayed at the Idyllwild Bunkhouse and unfortunately the room did not match what was…read moreadvertised. The location and staff are truly superb -- friendly, welcoming, and in a great spot close to town -- but the room itself needs serious attention. The toilet was dirty when I arrived, and there was no bath mat. There were no proper utensils or paper products, aside from toilet paper. The floors were dirty and there was black hair everywhere, which was disappointing and made the room feel unclean. The listing shows a Jacuzzi tub, but it didn't work at all, and there wasn't even a plug to fill the tub. This was one of the main reasons I booked the room, so it was a letdown. I was also looking forward to the breakfast scones that the property advertises. Instead, we received dry scones, apple juice. One more thing future guests should know: the toilet is positioned only about half a foot from the sink, so you literally have to sit sideways. It's uncomfortable and should be mentioned in the room description. This hotel seems to cater mainly to Pacific Crest Trail hikers in the summer, which is fine, but the rooms should be advertised accurately so guests know what to expect. The staff and location are excellent, but the rooms need better cleaning, maintenance, and honest descriptions
