Mountain View room. Tiny but so adorable.

Hubby and I wanted to take a couple of nights of retreat from the crazy holidays and stumbled upon Strawberry Creek Inn. I'm SO glad we did!! This place had a full renovation around six months ago (my timing may be off) so, many of the pictures on Yelp are not up-to-date. They have a whole new lobby layout and updated rooms, etc. it's beautiful and fresh. The staff made us feel so welcome and made sure we were comfortable in every way. We stayed in the Mountain View room and absolutely loved it! It has a king bed and two comfortable chairs next to a huge working fireplace, which we fully enjoyed and made good use of. One big plus about this room is there are four windows in all, one being on the opposite wall so you get a wonderful cross-breeze. The views are rooftops and trees, so it's very private. In general, the town has a ton of great restaurants and coffee shops, and will not disappoint! Oh Things to note: - Wood for the fireplace needs to be purchased. The cheapest is at the hotel lobby. We went through one bundle per night and that's if you want a nice raging fire. - The bathroom is broken up: small sink and countertop is in the room itself and shower/toilet is behind a closed door. Didn't bother us. - There is a small refrigerator but no microwave.

Background On Stay: We were on a mad scramble to find a place to stay, because the original place we were staying at had septic tank issue. We called 3 to 4 places to no prevail, but on the 5th call... Strawberry Creek was our savior. We stayed in the courtyard. Location/Parking: About a 1/4 mile from downtown Idyllwild. Parking can be found in their lot. Courtyard Theme Suites: There's a total of 4 theme rooms. 1) Autumn - Fall colors accent a modern Queen Anne decor 2) Country Gentleman - Dark and rich wood paneling, masculine with odd curios (This was the room that we got for the 1 nigh stay) 3) San Jacinto - Mountain lodge décor that brings the great outdoors, indoor 4) Santa Fe - Step into this Adobe suite bedecked with shades of the Southwest We stayed at the Country Gentleman Suite in the courtyard which included a private fireplace (Electric / digital), skylight, VCR/DVD player, DirectTV with premium channels, refrigerator, coffee maker, private bathroom with shower, queen bed, daily housekeeping, and radiant floor Heating, Ambiance/Decor: Neat ambiance. Felt as if I was teleported to a different time period. Had this old rustic feel to the place. Neat-O. Entertainment: Go out and explore the grounds. You will also see a chicken coop where John gets the eggs to cooks his scrumptious meal for his visitors. Service: Service was great! John (inkeeper) was very nice, courteous, and kind. He also does the cooking (2 course complimentary breakfast meal. Herb butter biscuit with mixed fruit and strawberry toast with sausage was the offering for our breakfast on Sunday. The breakfast also included: water, passionfruit juice, coffee or tea) for the guests at the inn. Inn For Though: Absolutely love it. Great place to stay

Strawberry Creek Inn on a sunny afternoon

Excellent service a great place to stay! Cozy, quiet, home-style atmosphere. The architecture of the inn has a cabin-like feel from the early 1900s, but with all the contemporary comforts one expects from a modern hotel. Located within walking distance of hiking trails and the center of town. Original recipes for delicious breakfasts made from scratch. Nathan is not only a fantastic cook, but a great host. Lots of attention to detail from the food to the decor and the room amenities, which includes an eclectic book collection for guests to peruse. This place is perfect if you need and idyllic and relaxed getaway close to nature and trails to hike.

First time doing a bed and breakfast in Idillwyld. The Strawberry Creek Inn was a nice little jewel. It has four rooms upstairs, they're all named with girls names. We stayed in Maggie's room....the only room with a bathtub. There are 4 more rooms that are detached from the main house. There is also a separate house next door that sleeps seven. Many nice patios outside with benches and tables to set and enjoy the day. It was a high of about 49 degrees so we didn't partake. There are some walking trails behind the property along strawberry creek. The path will take you to the brewery which is a fun place. Inside is decorated nicely, bottom floor has many overstuffed chairs and couches. Dining is to one side just off the kitchen. For breakfast we had a fruit cup with a fresh made biscuit and oven baked strawberry French toast with sausage. Heather was the innkeeper and was quite nice. Explained the house and stuff to do while in town. They have chickens and a chicken coop so the eggs are fresh. The chickens are Polish and very unique looking....see pics. Loved the bnb....my only negative would be the tv. It was about a 12 inch screen and almost not watching it was so small. So owners please upgrade before my next visit.

TLDR on those pictures: Book record: We booked a room from 12/30 - 1/1 for new year family gathering 1st message: Hotel write to us saying our credit card is having issues 2nd message: Hotel apologizing that the credit card issue is CAUSED BY THEM and NO FURTHER ACTIONS ARE NEEDED FROM US on 12/30 we already half way to the hotel and I called them to let them know we are coming, the hotel says our room is CANCELED due to my credit card error without any proper apologizing beside saying "we refunded your charge" and I got their final message Comment? 1. Rude, dishonest and unprofessional 2. I booked 4 consecutive hotels during new year (including this one) thru Expedia and you are the ONLY ONE having issues with my credit cards 3. Whole family have to drive back home on that afternoon. Our new year gathering was 100% ruined and it cost us more time to drive from home to the next destination

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Strawberry Creek Inn. Booking the room online was easy, and came with and added bonus of a discount by booking direct with the Inn. The Inn is old, rustic and very quaint. There are 4 rooms upstairs in the main house, several connected units just behind the main house, and a separate cabin on the property next door. Our room, Maggie's room, was up a short and narrow stairway. The room was a nice size with a queen bed, fireplace, bath with tub, and a tiny TV. The sink was outside of the bathroom and very small. Overall, the room was very comfortable and cozy, especially with the fireplace roaring! Tip: close the glass door of the fireplace to avoid setting off the fire alarm in the room :) The common area in the main house is inviting with comfy couches, lots of throw blankets, games, books to read and interesting decor. Heather, the innkeeper, was a gracious host. She sat with us when we arrived to go over what we needed to know about the Inn, and to review the map of the city with us. She searched the lost and found drawer and found a plug for my iPhone USB, which I had forgotten at home! Breakfast is from 9am-9:30am. It was delicious: fresh fruit bowl with a home made biscuit with butter and jam, baked strawberry French toast and sausage, and mango/passion/orange fruit juice. Outside is a coop filled with Polish chickens, where the Inn gets their fresh eggs. There are several patio areas with chairs to sit, which would be nice to do when the weather is warmer. After breakfast we took a walk along Strawberry Creek, which runs behind the Inn. The path is narrow and rocky, so walk carefully, rather than fast and briskly, and enjoy the fresh air and trees! Overall, this is a lovely place, and at a very reasonable price.

Ask the Community - Strawberry Creek Inn

Is breakfast included the price or is it a separate charge? I'd assume since it's a bed and breakfast that breakfast would be included but some of the reviews suggest otherwise

Breakfast is definitely included. Not only is it delicious but catered to any dietary restrictions you may have. When we checked in Heather asked if we had any dietary restrictions. I said I didn't eat meat and my boyfriend doesn't eat pork. So,… Read more

We enjoyed our 3-day stay in room 201 which included a king bed and a daybed. Seven of the rooms feature stunning electric fireplaces and this room was one of them. Our only complaint was that the Casper mattresses they use in their suites were way too soft. It's important to point out that there's no front desk in this establishment, but we did see staff at check-in and at various times throughout our stay. If we ever visit Idyllwild again, we will be booking another reservation at The Creekstone!

Within 5 minutes of arriving to our room, someone came to inform us that our son wasn't welcome because children under the age of 12 are prohibited. He also informed us that he would be charging us an additional $50 and that if there were any noise complaints, he would bring them to our attention immediately. First off, nowhere when booking does this hotel specify that children are prohibited. It's not clear unless you go to their policies page that it indicates children are 'discouraged'. Do you know why? Because the walls are paper thin. Our child was silent and asleep by 7:30pm but we could hear everything the adults next door were saying and watching on the TV (at reasonable volumes, mind you). And to top it all off, Google says this IS a kid-friendly hotel. Second, should you need anything, you can't get ahold of anyone. There is no front desk and you don't have any service so you can't call anyone or send a text through their SMS service. So I hope you don't need an extra towel or Kleenex because no one will be available to assist you. Except the guy who magically appears to charge you $50 and then is nowhere to be found. It's really too bad that such a nice hotel has such crappy service and is so unkind to families. They forget that parents are regular people too who enjoy get aways without kids and have plenty of parent friends who they will be informing to skip the Creekstone Inn and stay somewhere else.

The entire check in is through text message and if you don't have good reception it is hard to get the map to download. The Pinyon sign was not easy for us to find. The times that I spoke to someone on the phone I found that they were not very friendly and sort of curt. I'm not sensitive so it didn't bother me, it was just my observation.
