Definitely check out this mom and pop shop! The lady who took our orders was very nice and they have a large menu. They have indoor seating and a bathroom. The only thing was that she didn't put the receipt in the bag which was kind of disappointing because I wanted to see something on it. This pains me to write this. 15 years ago when I first moved to San Diego, I was out working in the trade with a coworker when we decided to get some lunch. As usual when ordering from a taco shop I've never been to, I ordered the carne asada burrito. Now mind you, 15 years ago, I was still considered a Mexican food virgin and I did not know there was a difference in tortillas until I tasted this one. Best tortillas ever! (IMO) I went out and sang the praises of this place to my friends but after a couple of weeks, I forgot the name of the place and where it was located. I brought it up to people over the years but when you can't remember the city, street, strip mall......well, people just think your're crazy. Fast forward to the present. I was working in the area and staring at a taco shop between a liquor store and a bar, I started experiencing deja vu. I told my coworker that I think I just found the place I'd been looking for the past 15 years. Lo and behold, it was. I ordered a carne asada and a machaca burrito for the wife and I to split for dinner. Right off the first bite, I knew I'd found the place. Excellent salsa verde, great tasting ingredients, and the best tortillas ever. Now comes the sad part; I'm moving out of San Diego in a couple of weeks so I only have a couple of opportunities to enjoy this place. Such a shame. Would've like to try more of the menu. read more

There was another customer just starting to eat a burrito when I walked in and he recommended the "pollo asado burrito". Placed my order and added cheese to the burrito. Also decided to grab a bottle of Pepsi from here as well to drink. I had asked the cashier on preference for American vs Mexican guacamole, she stated Mexican was the way to go. Burrito came out nice and hot, cheese was melted and burrito smelled good. I did notice more of a vegetable type guacamole presence instead of just straight up avocado mixture. Burrito was probably about the size of my fist, tasted good but did not appear to have a lot of seasoning. Good or Bad is up to you for seasoning. The only thing weird was the Bottle of Pepsi did not taste like a Pepsi, i was kind of bland. Will definitely return and try something else in the future. read more

I really hate to leave this review. I so badly wanted to love this Estrada's that is so close to my home. I was feeling under the weather and really wanted some pozole. Estrada's (Magnolia location in Santee) is about five minutes from my house and they had pozole on the specials dry erase board for $8.49. I walked in and was third in line behind a to-go order and a for here order. I ordered my bowl of soup to go and sat down. The to-go guy got his food and left. More customers walked in, some were picking up called in orders, others were ordering to go. They all received their food and left. For here guy was next, he received his food and sat down to eat. Meanwhile I waited for my bowl of soup. More customers walked in, ordered, got their food and left. I waited. And waited. More customers came and went. I waited some more. Had I not already paid I would've just walked out. Finally, a full 25 minutes, later I received my soup. The time from leaving my house to arriving back home with my pozole, nearly 40 minutes. Ridiculous. The pozole itself was just okay. Certainly not worth the wait. It had about three small chunks of fatty pork in it, that was it for the meat. It really need more pork, a lot more. It contained plenty of hominy and it was served with some tortilla chips, four corn tortillas, a couple of lime halves, onions and oddly lettuce rather than cabbage. Also it rang up at $8.99, not the listed $8.49. I'm not going to squabble over 50 cents, but prices at the register should align with those listed. read more
