Our party of five had to leave, and I was left sitting at the table with a toddler about 15 minutes after the meal ended waiting for the check. She eventually returned and apologized, saying she couldn't find the cake we ordered and had to go look for it. She then asked if we wanted bags for our to-go containers, after everything had already been packed up. Normally, the containers and bag are brought to the table together for leftovers. Watching her smile, tap her foot, and soak in every note was something I'll never forget. The polka? Incredible. The food? Out of this world. Every bite was rich, comforting, and full of old-school Italian flavor. ‍ The service? Flawless. And then--Chef Bill Shockley appeared like a culinary angel.
