Grilled salmon with honey bbq sauce, onion rings, and vegetables
Margy C.

We stopped here for our last dinner in the area after a visit to the Kentuck Knob house. It's situated in a nice woodsy setting. Not fancy but the food was the best I had this weekend. We got the chicken romano which was a chicken breast encrusted with egg and parmesan. For the sides, he got the mashed potatoes and cole slaw. I got the grilled salmon with onion rings and vegetables. The salmon was perfectly cooked and though I asked for the honey bbq sauce on the side, it was on the salmon when brought to the table. The server acknowledged that I did ask for the sauce to be on the side and she waited for me to see if I wanted to send it back. The kitchen also included a side of the sauce as well. I thought the sauce was fine and I mostly didn't want the salmon to be wasted. It really was good. I enjoyed the onion rings but the vegetables were obviously from frozen. Fantastic service and plenty of parking.

Desserts - fried ice cream, peanut butter pie and s'mores lava cake!

First timers there on a Friday night with no reservations. That was mistake number one. There were at least a dozen empty tables, but we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. So we waited this was after waiting 8 minutes for anyone to look our way or acknowledge our presence. When we were finally seated we knew what we wanted because we had looked over the menu. The food was delicious. We had the foggy mountain burger and the ultimate cheese burger these were based off the sign that said burgers bogo 1/2 off ... I got a a cheddar roast beef with Barbque sauce and it was delicious the mashed potatoes were cold so they were clearly not "fresh" When the waitress came back and asked about dessert we were excited. We eat out often but rarely splurge on dessert. We got fried ice cream, s'mores lava cake and peanut butter pie which were all fantastic. Now came the bill and everything was full price. So we waited and asked the waitress about the burgers. The main reason we splurged on dessert was because we were saving money on dinner. She said that was a Thursday special. It was clearly still written on their dry erase board. She didn't honor the half off we paid and when the check came they give you the % you should suggestively tip and these tips were based on the meal plus tax. I never tip on tax it's the small sneaky things that make us never want to visit again although they had great food. Customer service should be number one and when the sign says burgers bogo 1/2 off - I expect that to happen not our fault you forgot to erase it.

Crab bisque soup. Totally amazing!! A must have!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and the front desk staff recommended this restaurant. It was a wonderful experience. The waitress was very friendly, was engaged in our trip and gave us information about the business. The food was totally amazing. Everything tasted like it was made fresh with fresh ingredients. Even the crab bisque soup tasted like we were at the beach. I had the Chicken Romano and my wife had the crab cakes. Each was bursting with flavor and portions were large! I'm not a crab cake lover but these were very good! The restaurant is just off the bar area. It looks like a great place to hang out if we were staying overnight with them. Sadly, we had to go back to a hotel.

The Foggy Mountain Lodge is great! Spare the moment trip to the area and we both LOVED everything about it. The service was warm and welcoming. The room was beautiful. The bathrooms were both lovely. I even liked the comforter they had on the King sized bed. We both are already planning our next visit. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Our server Gail was so friendly I even bought two shirts off the wall. Great place to get away and relax for a few days. Highly encourage you to call and work with Stacey and Karen! ps. Allie and I will be back for a fire!

They are wonderful! They do anything they can to make their guests feel like they belong. If you are looking for great repartee or to enjoy a quiet evening alone, either way, they will happily oblige. Then there is the food! Everything is made from scratch...including the yogurt! Finally, there is the house itself. Enjoy mechanical music? Boy have they got it! There are at least four grand reproducing pianos, a pianola, a full player organ, numerous rare music boxes, and victrolas and radios of every sort. Then there is the collection of rare clocks...to many to count. During the summer, you will probably receive a tour of the spectacular antique car collection which includes two Franklin Automobiles and an American LaFrance roadster, to name a few. By the way, each suite is clean and well appointed and boasts a unique theme! Go, enjoy, have fun!!!

As for the claims it is haunted, after our 1 night stay I absolutely believe it!

Parking is easy in and easy out, I recommend in heavy winter and tough seasons to contact the host to make sure all roadways are safe if you don't have 4 wheel drive. Alpine Retreat. A home more comfortable than home. It is warm and cozy and inviting. The two fireplaces are fully stocked with wood, the fridge is stocked with all necessities and extra beverages and food (in case you lack preparation... such as I). Also everything is labeled so you don't have to search to find anything in the kitchen or throughout the house. There is firewood well stocked, with an outdoor firepit for cooking and relaxing. Underneath an outdoor deck that can host a large group, with a grill and bar, sits a six-person jacuzzi with bluetooth connection. There is ample land to enjoy lawn games and a good game of catch. Lastly, there is a basement cove with a bar that would make for a good night cap after the hot tub cover goes back on. Our Experience. Our host picked us up some craft Sam Adams beer and made us dinner. I don't want to promise that this exception is made for all the guests, but I have never been better received by a host in any hotel or inn I have ever stayed. We had a massage therapist come for a traveling massage from Body in Balance Healing Center. $100 for an hour (excluding gratuity) was so much cheaper and personalized than the overpriced spa at Seven Springs. I slept like a rock, but I did bike (not very well) quite a distance before my stay. The sheets were fresh and clean and everything was spotless in the house. We were encouraged to eat the food, use the washer/dryer and put our feet up... which we did so well. Overall. Buy the ticket, take the ride. You won't have a better host, I would lay money on that. The house is cozy and inviting and I will be heading back there at the next opportunity. Thanks again!

Positives: Dawn was extremely friendly, and we got to meet one of her kittens. I think she genuinely wanted us to feel welcome. The B&B is in a convenient location if you want to explore the shops around the square. Negatives: Everything in the room felt like it needed an update. The bed itself and bathroom were clean, but the rest of the room didn't feel extremely clean. The carpet was stained pretty badly, which gives me "Icks". The shower is also VERY small. I'm not sure how a large man would make that work. The biggest problem we had was that, when she took us to our room, she informed us that we would be having breakfast at a restaurant down the street in the morning. She handed us a beat up menu and said to tell them we were a guest there. We were pretty taken aback. Part of the reason we booked this B&B, or any B&B for that matter, is the homemade breakfast experience, prepared by your host. The description on the website, bragged about her wonderful breakfasts. Once we figured out that the "restaurant " was actually a bar and grill, we decided to go find a good breakfast out of town. So, we paid twice for our breakfast. Our trip to Ligonier was nice, but the B&B experience was a little disappointing. You may want to make sure she's serving breakfast

Looking around for some interesting and fun options we stumbled upon this B&B and decided to call to see if there were any openings. We were in luck! I made myself some tea, helped myself to some gingersnap cookies, and got settled in for the night. The room was spacious and comfortable. The shower had a never ending (or so it seemed) supply of hot water and there was more than enough towels. I quickly felt at easy in the room and knew I would be getting a good nights rest. Breakfast, Liberty informed us, was held at two times, 7:30 and 9am. We picked to have ours early, which I was against, but it turned out wonderful. The atmosphere is charming, the view is beautiful, and the food exceeded every expectation. We had to try their famous mushroom soup, and even though I'm not normally a mushroom fan, it was hands-down one of the best cups of soup I've ever had.
