This is the kind of place that you have no idea exists unless someone tells you or you happen to follow the signs because it is kind of in the middle of nowhere. I came to the restaurant with a bunch of friends on a Friday evening. We were basically the only ones there, but we did get there later in the evening. The menu has a nice variety of items and prices. I opted for one of the burgers because it sounded tasty. It really was. Although it was a little too juicy so it made a bit of a mess eating it. Drinks were fairly priced and not watered down like they can be in some places. The highlight for me was the crab bisque soup. It was the perfect consistency and temperature and packed with flavor. I'd honestly go back just for that. Oh and the salads are HUGE. I didn't have one, but a friend did and you could easily get several meals out of one salad. It isn't someplace I'd drive out of my way to come back to (it is about an hour from my house) but if I'm in the area I'd definitely stop and eat again. read more

My only negative is there should be more reduced price selections on Wednesday happy hour which is 4 to 6 pm. When we went on a Wednesday there was only one beer offered as a happy hour special but they do offer 50% off appetizers! Miss the Wednesday special they used to have when they offered buy one burger and get one half price. Hope they bring that back! read more

Quaint room without a lot of fuss, but the most comfortable beds! One thing to know before you start traveling into the area is that you will need access to the email sent to you. The lodging is contactless so I arrived with no cell service and had to go into the restaurant to get WiFi and access my email. The room is very clean. read more

We stopped here for our last dinner in the area after a visit to the Kentuck Knob house. It's situated in a nice woodsy setting. Not fancy but the food was the best I had this weekend. We got the chicken romano which was a chicken breast encrusted with egg and parmesan. For the sides, he got the mashed potatoes and cole slaw. I got the grilled salmon with onion rings and vegetables. The salmon was perfectly cooked and though I asked for the honey bbq sauce on the side, it was on the salmon when brought to the table. The server acknowledged that I did ask for the sauce to be on the side and she waited for me to see if I wanted to send it back. The kitchen also included a side of the sauce as well. I thought the sauce was fine and I mostly didn't want the salmon to be wasted. It really was good. I enjoyed the onion rings but the vegetables were obviously from frozen. We came here for trivia night, it was so much fun! The food was serviceable but left something to be desired. One person found a hair in their fries. Another persons drink got dripped all over the table by the waitress. My burger was rather tasteless, once I added salt it was better. Despite this the experience was overall good. Don't try coming here in bad weather though because of the back road to get here and the dirt parking lot. I guess if you have a truck or 4WD you will be fine but just keep that in mind. My daughter and I were in the area for one night and decided to try Foggy Mountain for dinner. The service was really good. My daughter had the chicken parm and I had the asiago crusted cod. Both were good. Our only complaint was that our appetizer (cheese stuffed bread) was not warm inside. The cheese was not melted. Drinks are served in quart jars, which is really neat! We stayed at Foggy Mountain for 2 nights and it was absolutely amazing! We stayed in the Cedar Lodge and it was beautiful, clean and very comfortable! We loved the common area with the seating area and the kitchen. The complementary snacks and drinks were fabulous! Thank you! We spent mornings and evenings socializing with other quests and left with new friends. The gentleman that refilled the wood to the fire place was so nice, actually everyone was. Nicole was very sweet when we spoke to her about out reservation. The food was also good and the bartender was great! We played pool and rummy in the game room every night, so fun. We really don't have anything bad to say, it was a wonderful stay. As soon as we got home we made more reservations, looking forward to out next visit! Stopped here for the Sunday Brunch Buffet on 3-11-18. While I was hoping for something other than ham for the carving station, my family and I were impressed with some of the other hot items on the buffet. Some of the most notable dishes that stood out was a Ravioli with Sausage gravy, their Penne with Vodka meat sauce, their parmesan garlic wings, and a mexican pork dish that was tremendous. We did not try the omelet station, but it looked like there were a lot of great options. The dessert options were minimal, but we were definitely impressed with the regular hot items. My asiago cod was good, but my husband's chicken romano had absolutely no taste and was small. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, but they seemed to be unprepared for the amount of reservations they had... by 630 out of baked potatoes and cole slaw. So I'd say they are ok...maybe was an off night?? I'd give them a second chance but wasn't great. read more

Delicious food and awesome service! We were a large birthday party for my sister's 40th and Alyssa was our server. She did an amazing job! She was quick and efficient, everyone's order came out quickly and exactly as ordered. She was attentive and friendly. The best thing was that there was a SUPER loud and obnoxious table sat in the side room about halfway into our stay and she (and her manager) were so helpful and accommodating in moving our large party so my sisters special day wasn't ruined by the other table. First timers there on a Friday night with no reservations. That was mistake number one. There were at least a dozen empty tables, but we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. So we waited this was after waiting 8 minutes for anyone to look our way or acknowledge our presence. When we were finally seated we knew what we wanted because we had looked over the menu. The food was delicious. We had the foggy mountain burger and the ultimate cheese burger these were based off the sign that said burgers bogo 1/2 off ... I got a a cheddar roast beef with Barbque sauce and it was delicious the mashed potatoes were cold so they were clearly not "fresh" When the waitress came back and asked about dessert we were excited. We eat out often but rarely splurge on dessert. We got fried ice cream, s'mores lava cake and peanut butter pie which were all fantastic. Now came the bill and everything was full price. So we waited and asked the waitress about the burgers. The main reason we splurged on dessert was because we were saving money on dinner. She said that was a Thursday special. It was clearly still written on their dry erase board. She didn't honor the half off we paid and when the check came they give you the % you should suggestively tip and these tips were based on the meal plus tax. I never tip on tax it's the small sneaky things that make us never want to visit again although they had great food. Customer service should be number one and when the sign says burgers bogo 1/2 off - I expect that to happen not our fault you forgot to erase it. read more

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and the front desk staff recommended this restaurant. It was a wonderful experience. The waitress was very friendly, was engaged in our trip and gave us information about the business. The food was totally amazing. Everything tasted like it was made fresh with fresh ingredients. Even the crab bisque soup tasted like we were at the beach. I had the Chicken Romano and my wife had the crab cakes. Each was bursting with flavor and portions were large! I'm not a crab cake lover but these were very good! The restaurant is just off the bar area. It looks like a great place to hang out if we were staying overnight with them. The Foggy Mountain Lodge is great! Spare the moment trip to the area and we both LOVED everything about it. The service was warm and welcoming. The room was beautiful. The bathrooms were both lovely. I even liked the comforter they had on the King sized bed. We both are already planning our next visit. The food in the restaurant was delicious. I am a little confused as to where all of the positive reviews are coming from, but this lodge is in need of a serious reality check. Let's begin... We stayed in the Cedar Lodge, so this review primarily encompasses this building (although the others do not seem any better). In the hallways, the walls are built of cedar and the floors are carpeted. The same scenario applies in the room... As you enter the room, you will be greeted by medieval décor. The floors and surfaces were coated in dust; as well as a buildup of stains that I will not describe in detail (see images). Neither one of the two bedroom doors seemed secure. The toilet and bathtub had mildew stains from not being cleaned. The bedsheets had been washed; but still showed signs of staining due to their age. The mattress was somewhat white; the box spring was yellow and the room smelt of sweat and urine. Other noted safety hazards include the following: major fiberglass fracture in the bathtub, overloaded electrical outlets, MOLD on the bedroom ceiling and a bee's nest on the outdoor porch. Also, when it comes to making a reservation, be ready to have several credit cards on hand because one was not enough to secure the reservation. Their reservation policy was very unclear and confusing and seemed to fluctuate depending on the time of day. As for the employees, the staff members were UNFRIENDLY and UNPROFESSIONAL. So before you ask yourself, "can it really be that bad?" Trust me, yes it is. Do you and your loved ones a courtesy and consider staying somewhere else when visiting the Laurel Highlands. If you do decide to take the Bates Motel challenge, bring your own bedsheets, Lysol disinfectant wipes, shampoo and soap (these will not be provided). read more

What a terrific little gem tucked away in the Laurel Highlands, and lucky for me, it's just a couple miles from my new home! Service was fantastic, the atmosphere ideal, and the food was perfect. So far, this is our "go-to" restaurant destination when entertaining guests from out-of-town. UPDATE 12/2/17: Several visits later and we realized our first experience was the only positive one. On each of three visits afterwards, the service was horribly slow. I'm cautiously optimistic it will eventually change for the better, but until then we found a new "go-to" establishment without the long wait times for menus, drinks, meals and bills. read more

Our first visit to Foggy Mountain Restaurant was such a mixed adventure. Food was outstanding. Service (Lexi) started out great, but then she apparently wrote us off. No drink refills. Waited and waited for a check or dessert menu. Watched her make several trips to a table of new arrivals. Moved our empty plates to the edge of the table as a hint. Sat looking bored and yawning to see if she'd take that hint and come visit us. Nope. Finally snagged the other server, who promptly closed us out. Tried to respond to the feedback code printed on our check. Dead link. Tried to use the "contact us" email link on the website. Form wasn't available. Thankfully, Yelp still works. I hate leaving comments in a public forum, but the business left me no choice. We may give the place another try, since the food was good. I spent one night at the Foggy Mountain Lodge and was quite satisfied. The land is beautiful, the sheets were clean, and it had an adorable rustic feel to it. The best way I could describe it is an "Adult Summer Camp" sort of feel. The restaurant was also lovely. Cheap, hearty food and the breakfast was to die for. Oh my God, THE PANCAKES! The restaurant is a solid average. Had a breakfast and early dinner there. Seeking comfort food, had a hot turkey sandwich w/mashed potatoes. Overdone turkey w/not much flavor but swimming in gravy and okay potatoes. The hot beef sandwich looked way better. Another of our party had a crab bisque which was pretty good but very rich. Had dinner the other night with some friends. Sat outside on the deck. It is so beautiful and relaxing. Two of us ordered the frangelico chicken, the sauce is so good could be addicting. Will definitely get it again. One person order the ribs which also was very good. One person had the Peppercorn steak, which she said was cooked perfectly and would get again. I must have been at a different restaurant called Foggy Mountain. I don't understand the great reviews. For starters, Our waitress didn't tell us about the special. After we ordered we heard the other waitress tell the next table about the specials. Because this was our first time there, we asked about several different dishes and the waitress really didn't know much. My Caesar salad was average, chicken frangelico was too sweet. Taste like chicken with maple syrup. My husband had the chicken Parmesan, which was also very average, the sauce taste like it came out of a Prego jar. No bread comes with your meal. There was a very long wait between our Caesar salad and our entrée. One thing I enjoyed was the crab soup. A little out of the way for mediocrity. read more

The lodge and restaurant were enjoyable. The wait staff were nice, the grounds were pleasant. The problem was with the manager. My husband and I, and another couple booked a two bedroom suite with a comfortable common area. After finishing a movie, around 11:30 on a Friday night, we were laughing and talking about the movie when there was a pounding on our wall. We were surprised, and the following morning attempted to talk with the manager, and offer to move to another room. The manager was very disrespectful and rude, and told us the people who had pounded on our wall had moved. Unacceptable behavior. We won't return. read more
