This company should not be in business. I have been a customer for over 13 years. 6 months ago the propane ran out. They researched the issue first told me that I was not on autofill which was not true. I had not called them EVER, for refills. Finally, she confessed that the driver could not access the tank as he didn't have the gate code, even though the code has never changed. It was likely a new driver. I was never notified of their access issue so the tank ran dry. 3 months later, the tank ran dry again. The customer service rep saw the notes from the last visit, and stated that the notes on the account were not updated to reflect "autofill". Again, no hot showers or hot dinner as the issue was not resolved until late evening. Fast forward to receiving my bill, I received a $200 same day service fee. Goodby Ferrellgas. Terrible customer service and mistake after mistake. I will take my business elseware. read more

Absolute worst service!!! Two week window. What kind of $hit is that??!! No one can ever give you an update and the technician that I have had in the past is rude. They tried to tag out my water heater bc he couldn't get it to relight saying, it was a fire hazard. All I had to do was bleed out the gas line!! What a joke!!! read more

called for delivery...now charge went from $301 to $455. it's $4.75 per gallon. we live in California...need a new company.

My parents (who are older) ran out of propane at their home today (Tuesday). My mom was surprised, because her tank is normally filled automatically by Ferellgas, but she figured with the holidays perhaps the company was behind in filling tanks. She called only to get the run around from the company. First, they blamed her for running out of propane, insisting that my parents were not on their automatic plan for filling and they could offer no solution for getting the tank filled before Thursday or Monday of the following week (again, it is Tuesday). My mom called at 8am, was promised a call back that didn't come, she called again at 12pm was promised a call back that didn't come, and then she called, yet again at 1:30pm and was put on hold for over an hour. Thus, she talked to three representatives who all put her on hold and didn't call back. At this point, she had gone most the day without heat, a stove or hot water and it didn't look like the company was going to do anything about it. Finally, she called me (her daughter) because she didn't know what to do next. I was shocked at the horrific customer service I received. This company had given an older woman (my mom) the run around over filling her house propane when she owed no money and her account was completely up to date. It took a lot to finally get someone on the phone; I called every number the company had, and eventually (after waiting on hold) got through the emergency line. I spoke with Jennifer, who was more concerned with explaining how it was my mom's fault for running out of gas than she was concerned about actually getting gas out to her and my dad. She was rude, unprofessional, and certainly not someone I would call in an emergency (HR office might want to keep that in mind). She was not able to give me any solutions besides "we might be able to get you propane by Thursday... or maybe Monday". Obviously, I told her that was unacceptable, and she gave me a long list of why it would be hard to send out all the emails necessary to get gas out to my parents house...but she would try. I explained that I needed to make arrangements for my parents to have a place to go with heat, hot water and a stove if she wasn't going to be able to get anything to them tonight, but despite that she refused to even guarantee even a call back. She said "I will be off in an hour and I won't know what happens then". After getting off the phone with her, I told my mom I was going to take care of it. Jennifer reminded me three times that my parents "own their tank" and can take their business anywhere.... so I did just that. Within fifteen minutes I had Alliance Propane in Valley Center on the phone. First, they ANSWERED the phone, and upon hearing that my parents were out of propane scheduled them to get a small delivery first thing in the morning to ensure they would have hot water and heat. I made arrangements for my parents for the night. Problem solved. Over an hour later, I got a call from a random driver by the name of Jose from Ferrellgas who said he was coming to my parents house to fill their tank but didn't know where their house was (despite their being customers for YEARS). He also didn't know if they were going to be charged an emergency fee or not... he actually didn't know much. I explained that I had already made arrangements and would no longer be needing their services. Shortly after this, I finally got a call from Jennifer who was wondering why I had cancelled the order; I informed her that I had arranged to get propane delivered. Without any sort of guarantee that Ferrellgas was even going to call me back, I had to make sure that propane was actually going to get to my parent's house. It took a different company fifteen minutes to sort out something Ferrellgas couldn't figure out with, apparently, all the greatest minds of the company working on it. I informed Jennifer that I intended to write a review here, and on the Better Business Bureau and it was only then when I received any sort of concern from her. Later in the evening I finally did receive a call from their customer service rep; it only took them 12 hours to show concern for my parent's safety, and only after I threatened to write a review. Suffice to say, I am appalled by what happened today. Ferrellgas gave an older woman (my mom) who was just trying to get her house propane filled the run around. Had I not stepped in, Ferrellgas would have left my parents in a house with no stove, hot water or heat in the middle of winter for who knows how long. We're not talking about internet service here... we're talking about heat, hot water and a stove: essentials. I honestly wonder how many elderly people are without propane and heat tonight because Ferrellgas have given then the run around. This company should be ashamed and their HR department should take better care in training staff. read more

Some of you may have seen my post earlier about a neighbor who had an emergency situation with her propane tank. The fire department came out and deemed the whole system unusable. This left the family with a newborn child without heat. Many of you stepped up and offered and dropped off space heaters to help warm their home. I recommended Ferrellgas and they immediately came out assessed the situation, agreed that the tank was ancient and dangerous. I went outside just now to find both trucks from Ferrellgas changing out her tank and filling it. Most of us know what a miracle that is to have that pulled off on same day notice. Ferrellgas recognized the emergency and how important it was to the family to have heat tonight. I wanted to recognize this company for going out of their way and coming all the way from San Diego with a new tank for our neighbor. I met the manager named Tom and the other gentleman Todd. Worst propane company ever! There was a problem with the road leading to our house after the rain. Not only did they NOT make the delivery, they NEVER informed us of the non-delivey.I eventually called asking where the propane is & they had cancelled the order! I'm going electric. read more

Some of the worst customer service I have ever had!! I called to get my tank filled, I was below 20% and have a small tank. They said it would be delivered within 10 days. The truck came by on Monday and wouldn't deliver "due to branches" over the driveway. He didn't knock on the door, left a note on my car. The "branches" that I cut that afternoon were the diameter of my thumb. I am now below 10% and they won't come back out for another week. Lazy driver and no commitment to customer service!!! Sadly this review will not help you learn about a great business. Ferrelgas....you work for the customer and should be ashamed for letting my kids go even a day without heat when it is getting down into the low 40's at night. We recently ran out of Propane and, living in the country rely on gas for heat. After calling Ferrelgas to help us out , we were charged over $400 for 100 gallons on the phone and given a two week window in which they might be able to deliver if they had another delivery in the Ramona area that made it convenient to them. After talking with the representative at the company we were told that we could pay an extra fee to have them make a special delivery to our area. Sounds like money is more important to this company then good customer service. Sure we should have monitored our tank better...but everyone makes mistakes. Well Ferrelgas was given an opportunity to remedy their mistake and even though they "have more trucks on the road then anybody" chose not to do the right thing and possibly salvage a customer. My advice: If you live in the country seek out a local company. Chances are they understand your needs better and it will help support your local economy. read more

My in-laws just had Charles of this Ferrelgas location come out to help change their new dryer over from natural gas to propane. He was great! Very helpful, nice, and went above and beyond. Once he was finished with the dryer he offered to take a look at their propane tank. He actually discovered a small leak around the gauge that tells you how much gas is left and fixed it on the spot. This place sucks! I called telling them when I would be out of propane and that I wanted to change companies..... they said of course we can do that for you. No big BS!!! Almost out of propane and I never get a straight answer or talk to the same person. The office staff sucks! Don't bother unless they can give you a definitive time and date!!! Great price for propane, can handle all repairs and service to tanks. Thought I needed a new valve on my horizontal tank on my RV, he quoted me a good price and started working on it right then. In about 45 minutes he had the valve working properly and pointed out the pressure regulator was upside down, filled my tank and did not charge me for the labor. Great customer service. Did not charge me for things I did not need. Plenty of room for an RV. Highly recommended read more

This company insists on using illegal forms of advertising by throwing bags with their ads and rocks in it into peoples property. This is considered littering, its trashy, and I would not buy from this company because they use these methods. Even though I said "No thank you" when the lady drove by, she still threw the bag on my property and said "I already got your drive way" and just kept driving. My neighbors and I do not appreciate anyone throwing trash onto our driveways, bushes, and yards. If I see more trash from your company thrown onto my yard, I will report you to the proper authorities. read more

As far as employment in the Mira Mesa office-beware. I was hired there on a Tuesday, then they went back and forth all week and started me on a Friday, I was greeted with a cold welcome, no courtesy on where to park or even shown around the office. The older woman in the back of office was less than professional in even introducing herself and acted like she was too good to even acknowledge my presence. (obviously big ego and really thought something of herself)) Not impressive. By 2 hours later I was told their computer system was not set up. They said for me to come back on Monday, but right after I left, decided I was not a good fit for them. Talk about unprofessional, I never had a chance and don't know why they wasted my time. I was actually relieved not to have to return. Good luck to the next person applying. read more
