This is a sit down restaurant in the mall located next to the Tilt arcade. We came here to try Birria tacos. They were grilled corn tortilla tacos stuffed with meat and tiny bit of cheese. It come with broth to drip the tacos in. They were very good and met my high expectations. The chips for the table were good and we really liked the salsa. It wasn't spicy, so my son was able to eat it. The downsides were that the rest of the food was only mediocre and the place was pricey for being a small taco restaurant in a mall. My birria tacos came with 3 standard sized tacos and a small bowl of broth for $13.90. Like I said, the tacos were very good, but I was nowhere near being full. Do yourself a favor and go here and get yourself some real Mexican food. This place is so freaking good and authentic - the flavors are insane!! I had the taco platter and had cochinita, tinga, and pastor (my favorite). We also had the napoles salad which was my first time having cactus. It's perfectly tart/tangy and has some avocados and cheese on top as well. The salsas that come with the chips are also very good and the perfect level of spice. Wow! We enjoyed the tasty salsa and house made chips while we browsed the menu and photos of the pretty extensive menu. On recommendation of a previous diner and the super nice staff member, I tried the cochinita torta. The meat was tender and flavorful, the roll soft and tasty and it was BIG! Delicious! DH had the shrimp tacos which did not disappoint with 3 large shrimp atop each of the 3 tacos and a hot sauce to add if you wished and quac to cool it down if you went too far with it, lol like he did. I tried a trio of tacos, a fried chicken torta, and poblano stuffed chicken breast with creamy poblano sauce. All the proteins were cooked perfectly, juicy, and flavorful. The torta was one of the best I've had in Katy so far. I feel like many ethnic restaurants in the area have watered-down flavors and don't use enough salt, this is not the case at Ferso's. Hands down the best and most authentic Mexican restaurant in Houston or Katy. Large two page menu, we had the Carne Asada street tacos, the Surf and Turf (Tierra and Mar) skewer, and I asked them to make me an OFF MENU shrimp enchiladas which they did and were DELICIOUS!!! This place makes their own salsas and we tried 4, all amazing (red and a green salsa came with the chips, a different green salsa with the street tacos, and a habanero "mojito" salsa that was great with the skewer. It is located inside the Katy Mill Malls at entrance #1. Everything we ordered on the menu tasted authentic. We had three tacos: taco al pastor, carnitas, and tinga de pollo. Order a large horchata or other drink, including a Mexican soda, and it will seem like you are ordering a Grande Frapuccino with extra cherry at Starbucks. Folks: your food is great, and it is already on the 'high' side for being a restaurant in a shopping mall. If you think you need to get more money out of your clients, entice them to a dessert, or raise your prices by one dollar, but charging $4.50 and the like for drinks is ridiculous and just leaves your clients with a bad taste, literally. read more

Thuis place has excellent Mexican food that is truly Mexican. The Puntas De Filete Rancheroa was very good, and the beef tips were tender as ever. The location might be in the back away from the 1093, but I would recommend taking the time to find the location. It will be well worth the effort. We were in the mall making a return and decided to try out Ferso's as our first post-quarantine dine-in experience. It was definitely worth it. We were seated quickly upon arrival, and the hostess made sure distance was maintained between us and other patrons in the restaurant. They offer complimentary chips and salsa, which was delicious. The chips are thicker cut than typical tortilla chips and the salsas were flavorful but not spicy. For lunch, we ordered a trio of the 3 pork tacos (pastor, carnitas, conchinita pibil). We also had an order of carne asada tacos and tingo pollo tacos. An order of tacos comes with 3, so you can't order a single taco. Of the ones we tried, the tingo was our favorite - although they were all delicious and flavorful. The flavors of the shredded chicken in the tingo along with the corn tortillas blended together very well.
