TW... Miscarriage. This review is 4.5 years overdue. I had suffered a miscarriage 5 years ago, and I was heartbroken, depressed, and lost. At that time, I was given slim chances in getting pregnant, and we were lucky that by chance we got pregnant naturally. Sadly, right before my 2nd trimester, I started to bleed and I went to the ER. It was at that time when I was told that I had a spontaneous miscarriage. After my body fully recovered, we decided to seek fertility treatments. After prepping for that first month of treatments, I underwent an IUI. It wasn't until a couple weeks later when my blood work came back negative for pregnancy. I was bummed, stressed, anxious, mad, and emotional. My treating doctor recommended acupuncture. I was skeptical, but I was desperate so I took a chance and decided to look up fertility acupuncturists in the area and found Eric Hollander. Luckily this office took my insurance and I called to make an appointment. Eric at the time ran his own office so he took the calls himself, checked you in, and performed your treatment. I left a message with Eric and when Eric called me back he was so nice and patient with me. He listened to my story and was very compassionate to help. He asked when my next IUI was and after I told him the date he scheduled me immediately to make sure he treated me before my upcoming procedure. I've done acupuncture once before on my knee (from running injuries), and after that one treatment my knee puffed up and gave. It was painful so I did not have a good experience my first time. I came here a few years back for anxiety and fertility, and really got help with the anxiety. Where should I start? In June of 2019 I thought I was pregnant because I missed my period...but it came a week later and it was a bummer. I have tried fertility smoothies, foods to help with fertility, anything that's natural I was willing to give it a shot. But after my period came in June I was desperate because we have been trying since Oct of 2018. I've been a patient of Eric Hollander since 2005 (or was it 2004)? Coming from a scientific background I was skeptical of Acupuncture but went out of desperation because Western Doctors were unable to treat several chronic health problems I was suffering from. Eric has been my acupuncturist for approximately two years. My husband and I were having problems conceiving and our fertility specialist strongly recommended that we use him. I have been seeing Eric for over 10 years and have been so satisfied with his results. I originally came to him when my doctor saw my liver bloodwork was out of normal range. I initially began acupuncture in late August of last year and became a believer in the true healing of traditional Chinese medicine. I didn't feel quite connected with my first or second acupuncturist so I decided to schedule a visit with Eric that October. This review is LONG overdue! I am a 36-year-old-woman who was diagnosed with low AMH (basically low egg count and infertility) in October of 2014 and given less than a 1% chance of naturally conceiving our second child. We were devastated! I immediately sought out natural ways to treat infertility before diving into IVF and other more invasive and expensive treatments. I called several other acupuncture clinics and none of them seemed like the right fit. However, from the moment I first spoke to Eric Hollander on the phone, I knew that he was going to be able to help me. My first appointment/consultation was wonderful! Eric took the time to sit with me for over an hour and just talk about my concerns and how Chinese medicine might help to address them. He was kind, personable, and most of all, optimistic. Unlike the negative attitudes of reproductive endocrinologists with whom I had been consulting, Eric did not treat me or my body as broken. He took the time to listen and encourage. He did not give me false hope (and I didn't want it); rather, he shared stories of other women with similar hormone levels who had gone on to conceive naturally. He also shared stories of others who ended up using an egg donor, which was my other option and I was open to it if necessary. He is an expert in understanding reproduction and the female reproductive system from both an eastern and a western perspective. My husband and I cannot even find ALL the incredible words to express how gratitude since meeting Eric. He was our last hope for conceiving. We have had our fair share of trials and tribulations BUT since recieving treatment from Eric, we have been blessed. Not only was he able to treat me and regulate my menstrual cycle, he was able to help us with our baby girl! I am now 34weeks pregnant! I am high-risk for a number of reasons but thanks to Eric we are so far so healthy! Please please please try treatment with Eric before giving up. I first learned of Eric through a friend, and after talking with her, and researching the best acupuncturists in San Diego, I knew he would be worth the 45 minute drive. I first read the book "The Infertility Cure" which was super helpful in beginning to understand acupuncture. I had been to several regular/western medicinedoctors who had no answers (only drugs) to offer with help getting pregnant. In my first appointment, Eric patiently explained everything to me, and the philosophy behind acupunture-treating the whole body and not just the fertility organs-really made sense to me. In addition, Eric is very knowledgeable about herbs and different supplements, which greatly helped prepare my body for acupuncture and eventually pregnancy. In addition, over the total of five years of trying, we had two miscarriages, and not only did we get pregnant but Eric continued to treat me into the first trimester. (Nothing can prevent a miscarriage if it's going to happen, but you can strengthen the organs and body to help prepare your body for when it does get pregnant). ALSO-I went a few times in my second trimester to treat sciatic pain. My sister had bad sciatic pain all through her pregnancies, and felt I too would be doomed-she tried massage, physical therapy, stretching. I mentioned it to Eric, and after two treatments, didn't have any more issues with my sciatic. (He told me it's one thing that doesn't typically need continual treatment, just a few acupuncture sessions and it goes away!)
