I spent time writing this, so I am using it on several platforms. I'm no bot, no fake person with an agenda. I was with Dr Alicja S. Steiner for a few years actually. I was even a patient when her practice was in Mission Valley. Every time she, herself, saw me as a patient I was frightened and did not know what to expect. I was often left in exam rooms for hours waiting for her. I was told not to lie on the exam cot but to sit on it instead. They said they did not want to have to clean the cot after I was done. So, I paced in extreme pain waiting without complaint. Whenever I saw OTHER doctors in that office, I felt safe and well cared-for. Today, Dr Dr Alicja S. Steiner erupted and told me to "find another doctor" and rushed out of the exam room without an explanation. She sent an employee in later to wrap things up. She gave no reason. In the past, Dr Alicja S. Steiner had us sign waiver of liability (If I were to continue treatment with her). A waiver to exonerate her and her practice if I should die with the pain meds Dr Alicja S. Steiner was providing. She told us in plain words I needed to write a letter "FOR THE DAY AFTER" (in her words - my death) to explain in my own words that she was not to blame or at fault. I never did this. Hearing that out of a physician's mouth highly shocked me. Dr Alicja S. Steiner repeatedly made clear she was "uncomfortable" with the presence of my Patient Advocate (my legal Durable Power Of Attorney) at our monthly appointments. My advocate's presence is fully lawful and complies with all HIPAA guidelines. In all her years of service to the medical community, Dr Alicja S. Steiner was completely unfamiliar with this process. She stated to be "uncomfortable" with this process and made clear without saying she did NOT want my advocate present. The very first time I brought my Advocate to an appointment with Dr Alicja S. Steiner, she stopped the session and brought in her legal in-office representative to make sure everything was in order. That is surely fine. But as much as Dr Alicja S. Steiner portrays herself as a long-standing member of the medical community, SURELY she would be familiar with HIPAA guidelines and Patient Advocates/DPOAs. What is she hiding? Why is she so upset with a legal third party being present? Before terminating service today, I relayed to Dr Alicija Steiner that I had a surgery scheduled in approx 2 months and everyone (from my GP to the Surgeon) kept telling me to work with my Dr Alicja S. Steiner since she was my Pain Management physician. This seemed to inflame and irritate Dr Alicja S. Steiner even more. She wanted to lower my medication dosage even lower than had been previously lowered without EVER addressing compounded pain or even presenting ways to accomplish relief that did NOT involve increased medication. In the past, I had - monthly - inquired about alternatives such as physical therapy or ANYTHING that did not involve pills. I do not even like pills. However, she became distressed as I relayed my status and chose to focus on the idea she did not want to be held responsible "if you die". She even sometimes displayed confusion saying "WHEN you die!" If this is the type of person you want in your life (physicians are a big part of our lives when we are unwell) please visit Dr Alicja S. Steiner now located in Hillcrest. Not as a complaint but as a REAL WORLD RELEVANCE, Dr Alicja S. Steiner constantly over-books herself for maximum profit - which is fine - except you should know your office visit (EVERY MONTH) will last 3-4 hours waiting to see Dr Alicja S. Steiner. I need to reiterate here, Dr Alicja Steiner NEVER offered me alternatives to pain management. I was only EVER offered pills. I was also, though, offered specific injections administered by Dr Steiner that never worked for me, and I stopped allowing them. Injections I now understand administered at premium billing for Doctor Alicija Steiner's profit margin. Since I never received those shots, and only medication refill, I believe Dr Alicja S. Steiner only saw me as a liability that might "die" and damage her somehow. I have chronic pain which Dr Steiner is aware of, and she kicked me out when I needed her most. I have new illnesses and procedures for which she is the doctor of pain management, and should have been there for me. Instead, she saw me not as a human being but as a THING to manufacture money from. When my presence as a patient stopped being a profit value, she wanted nothing to do with me. Having unfortunately been in the position to work with the medical community due to my issues for the past few years, I have had the pleasure of dealing with many doctors, physician processes, and patient facilities. I have never - not once - encountered anything like I have today when Dr Alicja S. Steiner treating me as meaningless, worthless, devalued and SHAMED. She exhibited THE most unprofessional behavior. This office has since changed addresses several times, but.... the doctor stays the same. People, anyone who sees this woman is NOT getting legit medical care. IF all you want is some d-o-p-e & have a track record getting it from someone else, then she will help you a few times maybe, & up front she will dump all sorts of useless contraptions on you, & xtras you don't need or want like useless shots. ANYTHING she can achieve extra billings on she will "decide" you should have. What she isn't going to do is to understand YOUR MEDICAL PROBLEM. First of all she doesn't speak English at any level one would reasonably expect a physician to have in order to conduct a legitimate conversation with a patient. Ahh, but the truly disturbing part is when you start to peel back the layers on the language issue. She's faking it far worse than I even thought. (Now mind you I'm saying this as someone who had 3 grandparents that didn't speak English & a father whose 3rd language is English. Even I wasn't prepared for the depth of her inability to comprehend) Not only does she not understand the basic English, she doesn't even understand THE BASIC MEDICAL ISSUES! When you drill down into the finer points of whatever "your" medical problem is, you find out she is totally clue-less about the PRACTICE OF MEDICINE, even in her native tongue. I can't even fit what I wanted to say in the space allowed. Suffice to say this woman is a professional "insurance billing machine". There's no medical care behind what she does. I'm on a medication a real board certified anesthesiologist started me on & assured me I WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO ABRUPTLY GO OFF OFF OF IT because "bad things would happen". Once when I unavoidably did go off this Rx, & I wound up with a serious head injury that cost me 5 days in the hospital and 17 staples in my head for a brain penetrating injury. (why?,I had an insurance problem) As many pain patients I have serious neurological issues as the underpinning of the pain. I happen to get electric shocks (a serious and very rare complication). I convulse something like an epileptic if I don't have the proper neurological anesthetic, although it's not coming from my brain. I am quite conscious, although it's like being flayed from the inside with razor blades. Alicja Steiner doesn't have a clue about my rare complication. They apparently never discuss rare issues in Polish Medical school. To make a long story short...Steiner abruptly decides to pull the rug out from under my feet on the Rx...AGAIN because of an insurance issue.. My insurance company won't cover this special & EXPENSIVE medication, but because I am low income the MANUFACTURER WILL COVER IT. BUT NO! Alicja Steiner REFUSED to do an auth-form with J&J Pharma, because she can't be bothered with the paperwork?! She said SHE can't be bothered with "Assistance" organizations! Well, too bad we all can't professionally bill insurance companies all day long with nothing on the back end for a living, while snatching throw-aways from the recycle bin at the Rancho Santa Fe post office to drag into the office for reading material. CHEAP! Mind you, she requires ppl set up a separate appointment for auth-forms so she can bill it, & she billed 3 of these for this exact paperwork already! She just wouldn't sign it or fax it! Wow, just "F" people who can't shell out $600/mo for a Rx. I have NEVER BEFORE ran into a doctor who wouldn't handle PPA forms, especially after billing for them 3 times. She actually said it cost her staff a half hour!, like that was even a charity burden or something! Wow, a 5 minute job, that she billed 3 times like any office appointment, takes her staff a half hour? We're talking about filling out a name/address/Med license # with a signature & date then faxing it. That's a half hour? She billed way more than that anyway BTW. She makes her patients wait for 2 - 4 hours a visit, & she's griping that the dippy staff can't handle this amazing 5 minute task, then jumps down my throat about "Assistance organizations"!? See, She can't bill an assistance org. Problem is tho, is that she was never getting a cut of anyone's Rx billing anyway, so what's it to her? So her bottom line is that I'm supposed to go to and die. + How dare I see what she really about! Her only real thing: She just doesn't understand English or her patients. Worse, she doesn't understand medical issues or problems, even those pertaining to the "specialty" she pretends to be in. Yes, I don't doubt she took "medical English" & passed their "test". Hey, I can read Japanese children's books. That doesn't mean I have a clue what I'm reading about MoMo's & Kobu's. Language has far more depth than an extra 250 medical verbs and nouns. I agree with most everything everyone is saying about Dr. Steiner's pain management office. I am not quite sure exactly what is going on or why she over books the way she does. Or why no one EVER answers the damn phone. I just want her to invest in some new seating and yoga mats in the waiting room. We are out there with horrible back, neck pain and you have us sitting for hours upon hours on rot iron patio furniture from Costco. PLEASE invest in your clients health and well being and give us something better to support our spine, No soft seats, Nothing fancy, I would just love some yoga mats to stretch, We are worth it. And please. Since you do not allow children in your office, please do not allow animals in yours, I saw one of your clients have a panic attic when a large pitblull was in the office. It is common courtesy, Some people are deathly allergic, No animal should ever be in a medical office, unless it is a service animal. I am really holding back a lot since I am still a client, but please also hire a professional medical office manager and do not fire your patients when they take out their frustrations out on you not showing up for a booked appointment, That was just rude, It was like, Here, bitch, go back to where you came from, there are 30 more of you to take your place. I really don't care that you are mad. You are no longer my patent. Very Rude to say the least. I hate to say it but she makes us wait 5 hours, runs us in and out from room to room, trying to tease us (like we don't know what's going on), leaves us in an internal rubber room staring at a picture of the spine or the shoulder for another hour. Makes us pee in a cup ( can you PLEASE supply some paper seat protectors. I think that is a health and safety violation. And those clean up wipes that the women are supposed to use to get a clean reading? You are REALLY cutting corners here. I bring my own seat protectors now. And you don;t even have hand sanitzers around your medical office. I feel like I might come to my next appointment and the office might be gone. Liike she can pick and leave at any time. Nothing looks permanent to me. When I pull up her name in google her name comes up as a Anesthesiologist, she also runs a medical center in Kearny Mesa, a sports medicine facility at this same address, she;s also listed as an MD and another address, How many pies does this woman have her fingers in? Is she running multiple offices? I am going to ask tomorrow. I hope she does not give me walking papers. I can buy my own yoga mat. She's got us made,. She knows there are some of us out there hurting SO much that we will go through just about anything, including waiting for hours upon hours just to get a little relief for the horrendous pain that only she seems to understand we suffer from on a daily basis. She is the only Dr, that actually had sympothy for me. (I have had 5 back surgeries, including 2 fusions and need another fusion) I can't afford to take time off work for so I deal with the pain, It is truly horrible). All of the visits to this Dr Steiner is incredibly frustrating! Every single visit is the same. My husband has to always has to wait over an hour 1/2 past his appointment times. For people who are in extreme pain this is unacceptable. The waiting room is always packed, and there didn't seem to be any sense of urgency from the staff, which just added to the whole experience. When he finally got in to see the doctor, it is always a rush.The doctor barely listened to concerns, and it felt like she was just going through the motions. They just give you an ipad instead of having a conversation. We tried explaining his symptoms and asking questions, but it seems like she never really pays attention. Every visit is less than 2 minutes. IDK why the long wait if that is all the time she spends with her patients. I have talked to other patients and it is the same story. Last time they kept pushing all these braces and things that did not pertain to his injury. Nothing he requested or needed like hand hip braces and for a back issues?! It was just weird. You always leave there feeling unheard, And forget talking to anyone if they mess up your prescription or have a question. I think the calls get forwarded to India and then the office. I've seen Dr. Steiner for over three years for severe chronic pain. Make no mistake, the wait time is brutal. A good day, the wait is 90 minutes, a bad day it's over two hours. I purposely book the earliest appointment they offer at 7:30 AM to try and get in and out quick. Usually I'm out the door prescription in hand by 8:45 or 9:00 AM. Dr. Steiner is very nice in person if you ever get to see her. Usually you'll see her PA who needs some bedside manor training. He is young, but competent. Her office staff ranges from incompetent and befuddled to competent. It seems like her staff members are constantly changing. You never know what you're going to get when you need something extra like medical records or Prior Authorizations. Sometimes you get great service other times you have to go there in person and walk the staff member through the paperwork. Over all they are nice and want to be helpful, they just seem to be too busy to give good, timely service. Bring your iPad or book, some snacks, and take your pain pills before you go because you'll be sitting there for a while. read more

I can not ever remember going to a DRs office with less professionalism, Now, Im no DR so I guess I really cant judge intelligence, but when the DR tells you she cant treat you anymore because you tested negative to the medication she hadnt even prescribed yet, then sometthing is wrong, but the worst is the fact that she said she could stlll prescribe me the cream her company makes and charges the nsurance company $800 a tube for the same stuff you can get at the 99cent only store.. it does nothing but everyones insurance is charged it, no wonder I cant get the surgury I need, this dr is the reason insurance companies deny the need Rx and procedures. The Doctors at Steiner and Quijano Pain Management are the Best. I went from being bed ridden to a wheel chair and now I've been walking for the past few years and just want to thank them for the Excellent care and professionalism they the show the patients. Both Doctors have had my case and helped in many ways - Thank You just doesn't seem to be enough, but a review to assure others that at Steiner & Quijano they will recieve good quality care and service from the front desk staff to the medical assist's that exceed their duties. I share with my fellow PAIN Peoples in Aqua Therapy & Physical Therapy, who to go see and be taken care of, from now on. Clean Waiting Room, Clean Bathroom, Exam Rooms are well maintained Plus plenty of parking on premise. i find it hard to believe Dr. Steiner is allowed to practice medicine in the state of california. i went to see her about chronic headaches. after waiting for 2.5 hours i was finally led into a room to provide a urine sample. after waiting another hour with no human contact or promise of being seen in the near or distant future i went to the front desk and canceled my 'appointment' for that day and left. i subsequently received a bill for $300 for a drug test! WTF! i called many times to inquire why i was charged for anything but i was put off to someone else until they wore me out. they reported the unpaid bill to my credit report until i was forced to pay the bill for 'nothing'. i would not recommend this doctor to my pet hamster! her office and medical practice is a shame to the AMA. read more

I went with my mom there for couple of times, at least, we were waiting to see the MD or PA two hours at the end they just see us for three to five minutes then they said they will see next month. Month after month, they just refill my moms medication. And my mom getting worse and worse. Now, my mom can't walk normally, if she walk hundreds meters she will probably sit ten minutes. However, we are almost been a year seeing MD without result. Not forget that if you miss one appointment, you will 50 dollars fee, and even if you want to reschedule an appointment before one day they will charge the 50 dollars because they are paying attention to the patient's conditions. All I want to say that they should take care of their patients more than caring about their process system. read more

Dr Steiner, is an excellent, caring, compassionate doctor and her office medical receptions staff tend to everyone's needs. Dr Stiener takes the time to sit with her patients and asks how the medication has made the difference or not and then she tries to give you something that will help with the pain. Dr. Steiner is the only doctor in San Diego that I have seen that works with the all patients even while there is a Coronavirus going on, putting her patients first, I don't think there is another doctor takes that risk just to make sure all her patients don't suffer in these hard times. I love this lady. She helped me so much. She spent a lot of time with me. I have belts and muscle stimulators and she was so patient with me. I just love her. I also saw Dr. Roger Kasendorf in her office and I love him a lot as well. I I could rate this office any higher than this I would. They are very patient with you. They are very caring . They exercise concern and they are very very professional. There in the waiting room are people that I have talked to that have been going to see her for over 3 years. That tells you something. It is sad to say but I am off to surgery now . They have excercised every option possible. I remember coming in late and she was still there woking on files.She is very dedicated.
