Peaceful nature video, cleanliness, organized, good smell.

"I want to express my sincere appreciation for your team's commitment to making me and other patients as comfortable as possible. My experiences here have been consistently excellent. A small detail that made a big difference was the relaxing video of nature and animals playing in the waiting room--it created a truly peaceful and valued environment while I waited for the doctor."

Have had several visits now (around 7) and every time they come through for me. All staff are pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend. Today is Friday and I'm feeling a lot of pain but I know it won't be long before I'm pain free again.

We've been visiting the Balboa Hospital facility lately to help my no-longer-driving parents get to their checkup appointments and unexpected emergency room visits. They are doing well, especially because of the professional medical staff. The good: care, concern, and treatment. I may not be the patient, but as an advocate, I appreciate the hospital staff explanations of procedures in common terms so I can repeat it back to my parents, especially because pops doesn't hear so well these days. The pharmacy wait time has gotten better since medication refills are handled at satellite locations elsewhere around town. This pharmacy is open 24/7 for ER patients. The bad: chow options during daytime and lunch hours are food truck(s) at the parking circle, some popup tents at the quad in front of the pharmacy, the hospital cafeteria, Subway, or McDonalds. At night, Subway and McD are the only dinner options...both do recognize mobile app ordering in advance. Hit & miss wait times if you need to need to leave a sample at the Lab, but you can schedule an appointment. The ugly: late morning parking can be atrocious. I get frustrated with having to drop off someone at the circle then driving over to the top floor of the parking structure because there are no open handicapped or regular parking spaces available. If you have an early appointment, account for possible heavy traffic at the sentry gate. Thank you to the medical teams working at NMCSD. I appreciate y'all.

Most people complain about their billing because they have no idea their anesthesia is being…read morecontracted out to a third party, so when they have anesthesia problems they post it over on their provider's listing when they should be posting it here. ASMG has a virtual monopoly on anesthesia care in San Diego. In my experience, there is no accountability when they hurt patients. I've had three total interactions with ASMG and all were negative: one because of billing, the other two because of poor patient care. Billing: in 2002, I had a minor wrist surgery at Scripps Green. ASMG attempted to force me to pay almost $1000 for the care they provided. My insurance said Scripps was supposed to pay. Scripps said my insurance had responsibility for the bill. Barely old enough to enter a bar, I found myself calling all three, repeatedly, trying to get someone to pay it because I, a broke college student living with my mom, wasn't responsible for it under the terms of my coverage. Scripps eventually paid it. In 2008, I had a thyroidectomy at Scripps Green. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Zinser, looked right through me when I met him and I had a gut feeling something was wrong. When I mentioned that I am a natural redhead because the gene mutation has consequences for anesthesia and pain management, he laughed it off. This is a proven scientific fact, and even in 2008, was well known. He allowed me to wake up too soon from the surgery (another physician once told me he probably turned the gas off too soon) with zero pain control because something happened to my IV. He didn't chart what happened, didn't tell me what happened even after it was OBVIOUS I had been conscious during the procedure and after numerous complaints. He was never held responsible for this severe safety lapse that left me with PTSD I still struggle with almost 20 years later. Unbeknownst to me, UCSD also contracts with ASMG so when I had a colonoscopy in 2025, I was, unfortunately, under the care of Dr. Guy, another ASMG anesthesiologist. My IV infiltrated during this very routine 10 minute procedure. Propofol went into my arm. I shared the image of the large, abnormal bruise I developed after this procedure. It wasn't evaluated or charted, nor was I given any post-procedure instructions. I've been in pain for almost a year now with an injury to the radial nerve because of this mistake. Again, a safety issue that went unaddressed and unacknowledged which is why I am posting it publicly here. Both UCSD and Scripps then treated me like a pariah in the course of trying to get care for this injury, forcing me to go to LA to find someone who doesn't have the "ASMG bias." It's clear there's a culture of zero accountability and little care for patients. It's about getting paid.

Upon arrival, I remained quiet and sat alone in the emergency room. This was my first experience at this particular facility, as I had only visited Scripps Green and Scripps Lajolla. During my ER wait, I felt anxious and apprehensive. The atmosphere in the emergency room was unsettling, reminiscent of a crime scene. A security guard wielded a long red stick, threatening to strike a homeless individual who refused to comply. The homeless individuals present responded with aggressive behavior, including yelling and screaming. After approximately one hour, I was summoned back to the hospital. The only available bed was located in the hallway, not in a private room. I endured a two-hour wait before receiving a CT scan. The CT scan technicians were unprofessional and sarcastic, giving rude looks, exhibiting a lack of courtesy and respect. Furthermore, four male nurses or staff members stationed at the entrance to the registration area engaged in inappropriate behavior, cursing and acting in a manner that belied their professional roles. Many of the nurses walked the hallways with egregious attitudes. NEver seen four of the female nurses act this way, I really was asking myself. ..Why am I still here in this ER and not driving myself to Scripps La Jolla, or green hospital. I Simply asked one of the nurses where the nearest restroom was..she gave me a go to hell look and walked right past me, not even answering me. In contrast, my attending physician, Dr. Katherine Ross M.D., was exceptionally pleasant and attentive. I had no complaints about her bedside manner. I am scheduled to undergo surgery at this hospital in the near future, but I have decided to cancel the appointment. I intend to seek care at a safer hospital where I feel secure and where professional medical staff conduct themselves with professionalism and respect. I will thoroughly review my medical bill with my insurance provider to ensure that I am not overcharged. While I appreciate my surgeon's expertise, I will not undergo surgery in an environment that induces fear and discomfort. I strongly advise individuals considering this hospital to exercise caution and explore alternative options. I have great insurance. I am not going to be paying to be treated like a piece of Garbage, to be scared and frightened in a ER. UCSD Hospital, Scripps Lajolla, and Scripps Green are all safer alternatives. Only.

From the start, before…read morethe consultation even began, I was asked to take photos for a simulation without being properly asked or informed, which I declined. During the consultation, I clearly explained what I was looking for. He mentioned under-the-armpit incisions, which interested me, but then quickly insisted that I would need a lift. I explained that I was extremely uncomfortable with a lift due to scarring, but my concerns were dismissed. He spoke very fast, was insistent, and both my support person and I felt lost and talked over. He told me my nipples were "turned down," which I disagreed with, and made unsolicited comments such as women not wanting to "look like a boy," that "guys don't care about scars," and that "you either have scars or you don't have bigger boobs." These comments felt inappropriate and made me feel pressured and insecure rather than supported. Overall, I felt that he did not listen to my goals or respect my boundaries. I booked this consultation specifically because of his advertised experience with endoscopic transaxillary cases and made my preferences very clear, yet I felt pushed toward a procedure I did not want. I would not trust this doctor and would recommend finding a surgeon who truly listens and has experience in the specific approach you're looking for. Additionally after the consultation, I called the office again to clarify whether it would be possible to proceed with an under-the-armpit approach without a lift, since I am comfortable with my breast shape and simply want more volume. He responded that I would "have the same breasts, just bigger," and that I would still have "the same problem." I explained that I do not see my breasts as a problem and that I like them as they are. He then told me that I should find a different doctor.
