Even though it was clear he had a very busy schedule, he made a point to visit the site daily and was always available to answer my calls, which I really appreciated. The crew themselves were hard workers and clearly skilled in their trade. That said, with a project of this scale, I found that being a highly involved homeowner was necessary. There were a couple of instances where I had to step in to point out issues that might have otherwise gone unnoticed. Bid/Quote: They came, inspected the project site and gave a complete quote including the construction detail. Tiles in an outdoor patio is uncommon, so we had a lot of questions from the grading to rebar to water proofing to sealent to grout. FG answered all the questions and accommodated our requests to align with the tile vendor recommendations. Price competitiveness: We spoke with 4 paver companies. 1 didn't want to do Porcelain tiles+ Paver, 1 didn't meet our budget, job was too small for one. Myself, Eduardo and Efrain our foreman will come out and, with your help mark all the areas of concern. We will then proceed with the fix soon after." I've added a picture of the pathway that they did recently, correctly installed. Perhaps the customer knew to provide instructions on how to install correctly. I was shown a top to bottom layout, with gaps, as the only install method to achieve the "wavy" look. We engaged FG Pavers and Turf in the late spring for a backyard remodel for a townhome whose access to the yard was only through a back alley. We originally picked them because they could do both a yard and a custom louvered pergola for what seemed like a more reasonable quote than competitors who could do only one or the other. In the end, the HOA didn't allow a pergola, and even if they did, the City of Walnut Creek has limits to the amount of cover allowed for our lot. So we scrapped the pergola, but went forward with the landscaping. Our project manager was Hugo Z.. The site lead was Fernando, and the main landscaper was Saul. All were super nice and very responsive once the work started. There was a lot of preliminary back and forth to sort out the situation with the pergola and HOA since our space was too small for standard sized ready-made pergolas, but I wasn't exactly in a hurry either, so work didn't begin until August. Once it did, it went faster than I expected, and the quality of work that Saul did was really great. We had a combination of super lush/thick grass, channel drain, porcelain tile, stamped concrete, and rocks. I had serious doubts about the intermediate color and pattern of the stamped concrete prior to the final glossy seal, because colors on paper don't translate to real life. However, the transformation of the yard, including the final base color on the stamped concrete after the glossy seal, is pretty incredible. While I would love to credit my design sense, the truth is that FG executed it amazingly. I was impressed with the detail of a small concrete step that was covered in porcelain tile that was beautifully done. Great craftsmanship. Good communication. This was not a budget renovation--it's great quality work and competitive. I do wish the digital payment option allowed credit cards or PayPal, but that's no ding on the team. tl;dr - their crew did such an amazing job on our front and backyard. They went above and beyond, and their work reflects that. I met with 8 (!) contractors, all with well above 4.5 stars and multiple reviews. We measured our front and back yard and had a good idea of the square footage. Of the 8, only 4 measured accurately. FG Pavers and Turf was on the dot. There were a few that measured about ~30%-50% more. That extra 600 sqft would've been costly! We're very minimal, we just wanted more usable space with minimal maintenance, so we wanted to replace all of the mulch with pavers in the backyard. And the front we wanted turf to replace our pebbles. They didn't try to upsell or sell me on something beyond what we wanted. They were very transparent the installation process, and the quote included detailed visualization of the installation & materials. They were the ONLY 1 that actually took the time to go back and forth with me to answer my questions, designs, materials, and work with me on a proposal that fit my budget. Huge, huge shout-out to Daniel! They were also able to fit me in their schedule and started just 2 days after signing. I met with Eduardo several times as he dropped by to check on the progress and let me know of any issues that came up. Daniel and Eduardo provided clear communication of the progress the entire time. Also massive props to the crew. There's narrow access to the backyard so they were out their shoveling for days. They also went above and beyond. There was a beat-up easement in my backyard that was covered by dirt and mulch . They repaired the easement and I didn't even ask for it! My front yard has a big section of mulch that had weeds, but the work was just to replace pebbles in another section. They cleaned up the weeds and all around the entire front yard anyways. They got the job done in a week. On the last day, I can see the crew go over their work multiple times, tidying & cleaning everything up. I'm absolutely floored by their craftsmanship and attention to detail. Some other tidbits: there was 2 companies that mentioned a install warranty, FG Pavers and Turf had 15-year install warranty, the other had 1-year. We wholeheartedly recommend FG Pavers for anyone who needs hardscape renovations done for their property. We had approximately 6000 sq. ft. of work including 2500sq ft of pavers, about equal that in artificial turf, and a 3ft high retaining wall that ran about 120ft. We interviewed 7 different contractors with high ratings on Yelp and Google, and narrowed it down to FG and another company we would have been happy to go with. Hiring a contractor is always a bit of a crapshoot but I feel we got very fortunate to meet Daniel and his team after a lot of hard work and due diligence in our selection process. Start to finish, we began interviewing in November of 2024 and finished up work in May 2025. We chose FG for a number of reasons. First, Daniel was professional, knowledgeable and detailed in the initial consultation and quoting process. His quote left no question what they were, and were not, going to do, and his prices were in line with other contractors. Equally important was that Daniel is a calm, neutral presence. Not salesy, responsive to texts and calls, and reasonable in his responses. Not over promising, but also able to execute what we wanted with minimal headaches and never any pushback. He even met us at SiteOne to go over options and pricing for pavers. And, the pictures online demonstrated an attention to detail and sophistication that other companies seemed to lack. We wanted to go with a smaller, local company rather than contract out to a larger corporation that charges more simply for name and overhead. They were able to start within about 3 weeks. Once ground broke, things moved FAST. Incredibly fast. Massive bobcats working straight 8 hours a day fast. As the backyard got rolling and we were happy with the crew and results, we added a new driveway to complete the entire look because it made sense and the team was there and working quickly. The paver job was excellent. Crisp cuts, sharp lines, imperfections only if you get down on your hands and knees to see. You can see some very faint seams in the artificial turf but it's hardly noticeable unless you're being super critical. One area of turf is slightly rippling near a circular landscape cutout but it's not worth worrying about. Special shoutout to Eduardo, the foreman, and the crew who showed up every day, worked hard and professionally, without smoking or music or other distraction. All very professional and polite. Our job was not without its hiccups, however. Any job will have some issues and ours was no different. Daniel's initial quote for dirt removal came up very short for the design we decided on. So, that was an extra charge that FG helped foot the bill for since the initial quote was so low. Also, and this is probably a good thing, the workers (Eduardo and his crew) go VERY strictly to the plan. I think Daniel could have done a little better job specifying in the planning phase that whatever you approve on the plan WILL be followed, to the foot/inch. Once the backyard came to life it was clear we needed more lights here, the path to be wider here, etc. They are super flexible changing on the fly, but if it will require upcharge they will charge. Fair though. We contracted them to install a yardistry gazebo as well, and they got the measurements wrong slightly so that the drainage and downspouts didn't line up as we'd intended. Unable to change the location of the massive concrete footers, gazebo, they were able to come up with a creative rerouting of the downspouts that works well. One of the downspouts leaked all over the driveway after a few weeks on a damp dewy morning, they came by to fix it. At month two a few of the pavers separated on the edges, and they came out to fix it no problem within a week. And, there is a slight separation (like, 1/4 inch) on two of the bricks of the retaining wall but nothing worth worrying about unless it gets worse. Overall we are very pleased with choosing FG and would recommend them without reservation. read more

We recently filled in our pool with the plan to completely re-do our backyard. After getting plans/renderings done by Yardzen, we interviewed several contractors and based on our interactions with our eventual project manager Ryan as well as their competetive pricing, we went with FG Pavers for our backyard transformation. Our project included installation of pavers and rock in our entire backyard and both side yards, drip irrigation and installation of all new plants/trees, the demolition of an existing overhang/balcony and the construction of a new, larger balcony, the construction of a large enclosed walk-in planter box, and integrated lighting. This was the largest home renovation project we've tackled to date, and Ryan and his team (plus the external contractor teams recommended by FG Pavers to do the balcony deck and planter box builds, and the plant/tree installation) were all very courteous, helpful, and available for questions/feedback all along the way. Ryan was always available to provide updates, ask questions of us on our preferences, and provide feedback when we had our own questions that popped up daily. In the end, our project went as planned, and we are very happy with the results. I sold a house for a client last month. Their landscaping had a clean look and was well done. They said that FG Pavers did the install. Last year I had some problems with a swindler who had lied about his license status, so I'm very picky as to who works on my property now. I called in and Ryan reached back out quickly and efficiently. He came over, gave me a reasonable bid on installing a 10X20 pad using large pavers. I have a large family event next month and wanted to be sure they could do the job in the time period I needed. Ryan assured me they could start in three weeks and finish in a week. A couple of days later he called and said they had finished up another job early and could get the install started right away and have it finished before I left to go out of town in 10 days. His foreman Ernie was there that afternoon. The guys arrived the next afternoon. The ground is super hard at my house, that California adobe and all, so I figured it was going to take a few days for his guys to dig it out. I also knew that the swindler I previously mentioned, hadn't buried the electrical line to my out building to code and that needed to be dropped to put in the pad. My electrician was able to get there the next morning, but at that point, FG's guys were working so quickly that they were waiting for my electrician to finish pulling in longer wires so that the pipes could be dropped to code. By the end of the next day, my beautiful patio was installed and I could not be happier. Their guys worked quickly, hard and efficiently. They also worked "clean", meaning they cleaned up everything. I wasn't picking up bits of this and that after they left. When they back a truck into my driveway I noticed that they covered my driveway under the engine of the truck so that if it leaked it didn't drip on my new driveway. Little stuff like that matters. As a real estate agent and I will be happy to refer FG Pavers to my clients. They are impressive. read more

UPDATE--Almost seven months later, the same wonderful crew who transformed my backyard has finished doing a marvelous conversion of my front yard to match the back (and modifying the drainage in the backyard to help deal with a stubborn problem). The quality of the work done was something that actually drew us to the house and was one of the deciding factors to purchase. Once we moved in we noticed a bump in the turf. I reached out to Frank and he sent out a crew who uncovered a massive mushroom, made sure the area was completely clean, flat and back to original shape then spent time tirelessly ensuring that the turf was put back together exactly how it was.
