I really enjoy the food and atmosphere at Fiamma Centro. I have been a few times over the past couple months and have been impressed each time. The food is very authentic and most importantly DELICIOUS! Our waiter was even from Italy. I haven't had the stomach room to enjoy a dessert there yet, but I am keeping on my list of potential dessert only restaurants as they stuff in the cases and what my friend's ordered looked amazing. Thank you Fiamma Centro for an amazing dinner. We celebrated a special birthday with about 12 people. They did a 6 course dinner. A charcuterie, caprese, apps, pizzas, pastas, main course and desserts. The timing between each dish was perfect. Enough time for food to settle and enjoy conversation. I think the best dish that was agreed upon by everyone was the Risotto Porcini e Truffle. It was cheesy just the right bite to it, truffle oil was just enough not overpowering. The one dish that was meh was the Garganelli Salsiccia e Broccoli. It was a bit bland and unforgettable especially when it was up against the Risotto. The staff was extremely attentive without taking away from the other guests. Keeping up on clean plates and drinks making sure that everyone was taken care of. We had one gluten free guest and they were very accommodating with questions and needs. A special shout to the bartender Danny, he was great making sure everyone was all set. Made some great cocktails and knows what he is doing. Very friendly and personable. But with that being said so was everyone else that had helped out to make it a memorable night. Fiamma Centro was a terrible dining experience; a complete exploitation of basic food service standards. What was supposed to be an enjoyable holiday gathering of family was ended with the owner yelling at us to get the f*** out of his restaurant and a blonde manager pushing my grandmother out the door. All while the staff was laughing and making fun of my cousin who began suffering from a panic attack in the lounge area during the vulgar display of authority by the owner. We'd received bush-league service from the beginning when they only assigned one wait person to our table of 17 guests. After listening to his short and sharp responses to most all our menu questions, and having him argue with us over how many appetizers and bottles of wine we should be ordering (20% auto gratuity, of course) it all capped when one of our guests did not care for her chicken cutlet, which was most definitely overcooked. The server took the meal away, only to return to the table with it wrapped to-go and passively-aggressively exclaimed, "The chef says there's nothing wrong with it and we're not taking it off the bill." We of course asked to speak with an available manager. No one showed up. My uncle went downstairs to speak with someone who was available only to have the owner himself come out and holler at him to "stop embarrassing yourself and just pay your bill." We had not refuted the bill, we simply wanted to discuss the situation with a manager. The owner was unreasonable and verbally reactive toward us, disagreeing with everything we shared with him. He even threatened to 'take it outside!' I've waited tables for many years and in that time I've had the gamut of food complaints - everything from glass, bandaids, staples, bugs, and masking tape being found in prepared dishes to minor complaints like they simply didn't care for the meal. Every time, no matter whose fault, I (along with the restaurant) very graciously handled the situations with a genuinely hospitable and apologetic attitude. Our guests are our friends. But the experience at Fiamma Centro, I'm just beyond words. And behind him in the kitchen, his cooks stared at us as if their leader was a bold hero for behaving this way. I'd prefer to go 2.5 stars for a true 50/50 experience. My husband and I went last night for the first time. Ambiance was nice - nicely decorated, we could have a conversation without screaming at each other, overall, we really liked the atmosphere. Our drinks were good. No bread or complimentary "snack" with the wait, which I think is a misstep, especially for these dinner prices. You can't throw a little loaf of fresh bread on the table with some EVOO while we wait for our plates? I think they should reconsider that. Though, we didn't really need it since our dinner came out 7 minutes after we ordered it, which was about 5 minutes after we sat down (too fast for my liking at a moderately expensive sit-down dinner - trying to rush us?) But then again, that is better than the alternative of waiting forever, so I guess it's OK. The dinner - I got breaded chicken breast topped with ricotta and mozzarella cheeses and breaded eggplant. It was HUGE and delicious. It came with a side salad of arugula and tomatoes. $22 My husband got veal saltimbocca. He said it was delicious but the portion was minuscule! He ended up also eating the other half of my chicken. His veal was served in a nice butter sauce ... but that's it. Nothing else. Just veal. No side salad, no penne on the side, nothing. He was done in 3 minutes and looking at my plate. $24 for that. I think they have some evaluation to do. Give your customers a little more for those prices. Compare to other restaurants with similar price points and I think you'll find you're coming up a little short on service:price ratio. read more

You guys, the pizza. THE PIZZA. We joined two friends for dinner at Fiamma Centro, where we sat upstairs. The decor is eclectic and trendy, and the ambiance was great. (One negative: our table was right next to the electronic screen that the waitstaff uses, and since everything else was so dark, it was unnaturally bright, and it made it difficult for me to see the person sitting across from me.) It did also get a bit loud as more people arrived and sat around us. Our waiter was gracious and helpful, and when our food came, we found out that he wasn't joking when he told us that the portions were large! My husband and I ordered a cocktail to split (we'd planned to have drinks elsewhere later), and when he brought us two of that cocktail and realized his mistake, he took it off the bill. Great service. We also ordered the Cuoppo Fritto and Rochester pizza. The Cuoppo were good (the croquette and arancini were especially great), but the pizza just blew everything out of the water. We love neapolitan style pizza, and the Rochester, with its truffle oil and prociutto, was just so, so yummy. I am usually pretty persnickety about pizza crust (the ends typically land on my husband's plate), but I was definitely not going to be sharing this one. It was pillowy soft, and perfectly chewy. The pizza is why this review is five stars. It sounds like one large party had a terrible experience here, and several people from that party left reviews to that end. If their story is true, that's very unfortunate, but our experience was the total opposite: helpful, polite waitstaff, great food, and quick service. read more

Wanted to like the place, but it fell somewhat short. The atmosphere and setting are nice. The food is solid overall, but nothing we had was particularly special. A couple of the entrees we ordered were somewhat burnt, although they did offer to replace them right away. The staff were certainly amiable and welcoming. Overall, it's a nice place with friendly staff that just fell a little short of expectations at this price point in terms of the food. As for some more specific comments about the food items, here goes: The polpette as an appetizer were excellent. The flash fried seafood appetizer special was enjoyable, but not something I would order again. Pizza Capricciosa: nicely done, with a delicious crust. Far too many olives, which overpowered the rest of the dish. But, after separating them to the side, the pizza was delicious. Of course, so were the olives, once they were eaten separately. The pasta special from today, and the sauces the had for all our dishes were quite solidly done. The Pollo Capriccioso was disappointing, even apart from being a bit on the overdone/burnt side. Just too much going on at once, in terms of flavors, which is fine if you're into that sort of thing. But the portion is more than generous. So, if you *are* into that sort of thing, you're in luck. And, they do like to give heaping portions of food, so plan on having to take home leftovers. Once again, it's a nice place. I hope with more time they will come closer to the mark (and consistency) set by the original Fiamma. That is a high bar, but I really want this place to succeed, and am confident they have the know-how to do it. read more

I have been to Fiamma a couple times now and am very impressed with the service and food. Yesterday, I made reservations for 5. John was our waiter both times and he is very attentive and made us feel at ease. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The aesthetic is a mix between farm house and industrial. The menu consists of pizza, homemade pasta, steak, and specialty items. I ordered the pizza special - pesto with mushroom, mozzarella, and dandelion blossom. The crust of the pizza is thin and crispy. The pesto tasted fresh, mild, and not overwhelming. I would return and recommend. This place is perfect for a date night. read more

Great atmosphere and location. The front of house staff was very friendly and welcoming. Food came out quickly and was tasty. Although, for the prices, I expected to have my socks knocked off which wasn't the case. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, but my wife was served a dish that she didn't order. This led to her waiting for the correct meal while the rest of us already had our meals. To his credit the waiter was apologetic and got her food out in a reasonable amount of time. I was off put to be served room temperature water that I saw the staff filling from a sink in the dining room. I'm not a Pollyanna and know this is probably the norm, but was surprised to see it right in the dining room. Also have to say that the cleanliness of the downstairs bathroom was sub par. I like the decor and the vibe, modern and kind of rustic (I guess?) and trendy, but it didn't seem too pretentious, either. The food was good and the portions were huge. I recommend the Cuoppo Fritto appetizer if you're a carb lover like me, but ask what's inside the pasta ball if you're a picky eater because mine had mushrooms, which I don't care for. I had the Garganelli ai Cavolfiori for my entree and it was cheesy and delicious. My only complaint is that it's super loud in there on a busy night and you basically have to shout to communicate with any guests with which you go and to the server. read more

Terrible service. Servers are all off and out of it and come deeply in your personal space. Food is so inconsistent some food was extremely hot and some was super cold. Couldn't be more disappointed in the service at this restaurant. We made a reservation for7:30 for 9 people a week ahead of time. We arrived a few minutes early, and were told it would be 15 minutes. No problem. 40 minutes later one of our party asked the status of our table and was given the brush off. Basically: "not my problem" from the maitre de. Finally, we were seated. They were horribly understaffed, and by this time it was 8:30 at night, and we waited an additional 15 min for WATER. We hadn't even placed our drink order. Our waitress, Sophia, did her best, and she saved the night, the only reason we stayed. We didn't get our food until 9:45 and that includes appetizers. We asked for a manager and we're given an assistant manager who couldn't have been more than 25. He listened to our complaints, but offered nothing, other than "you should have been seated, but our kitchen was overwhelmed." And a promise to speak to the owner, which resulted in nothing. We've been to Fiamma a few times and tonight the service was very subpar. We were told that we could not order appetizers without ordering entrees at the same time. Also, my 79 year old mother ordered what she thought was a steak but another beef entree came. They took the steak that she already began eating from her and put it in front of another person in our party that ordered a steak! After she already started eating it! Very bizarre and I explained she was confused but they were not accommodating to either her or the other person! Embarrassing and gross! read more

Terrible customer service! Bought our new neighbors a gift certificate here. The certificate was hand written and did not contain a expiration date, nor was i told about one! My neighbors final used it a couple years later (for whatever reason). If the restaurant is still in business and there's no expiration it should be fine... Nope! they refuse to accept it! My neighbors complained, I complained and they will not budge over $50. Left a bad taste and we will never go here again! Too bad because we frequented here often, not any more. Fiamma recently branched out to the city from their original location in Gates and brought their hospitality, delicious food, and warmth of a stunning new pizza oven with them. The service, food, decor, and prices all line up to make Fiamma Centro a much needed player and definite winner for the Rochester city food scene. The new location is a modern and stylish restaurant with plenty of bar space and standing room and with comfortable dining tables. With a large community high table in the lower level standing area, it seems like a great place to socialize with a group of friends. There are even more dining tables upstairs. The bar offers cocktails, a great selection of wine, and a limited menu. Meats from McCann's are on display in the meat case. I'd get one of their gorgeous steaks if I wasn't so obsessed with the pizza. Which pizza? All of them. But the basic Margarita is simple and so beautifully balanced in flavor and texture, you'll wonder how a "cheese pizza" could be so good. I've fallen in love with their pizza since the original Fiamma Pizza Y Vino. Centro's New oven almost seems to make the pizza one step further above the pizza perfection that is achieved consistently in Gates. Pizza is where the passion is at Fiamma but their paninis are made with the same pizza dough and the pasta dishes are no joke either! Also if you and your friends are out and about on a Sunday, be sure to stop in for the Sunday Sauce. A cozy homemade style presentation of bread bowl full of red sauce, pasta, meatballs, sausage, and beef roast. The kind of meal that makes you feel like everything is awesome. Very nice place. But can't get a spicy Bloody Mary there, no tomato juice! Bread for the table was nicely textured. The house salad for 2 is over priced at $16.00 with no olives, croutons and very little cheese and roasted red peppers. The homemade pasta is outstanding. The pizza dough is wonderful. My husband got the veal chop and it was huge and very tasty. When our waiter asked him if he wanted pasta with it, he assumed it came with it and said yes. This place is more of a 2.5 star restaurant. The atmosphere is pretty cool. The food is decent. The service is OK, maybe a little snarky, but nothing I'd worry about. The problem I have with this place is that two of the three people that I dined with had entrees that had unexpected ingredients or were prepared in a way that was unexpected. Normally I'd say that would be fine but the waiter made a point to tell us more than once that the dishes were prepared exactly as described and no substitutions could be made. One person had a dish with battered cod where the menu simply said cod. The other person had a pork chop with a ton of gloppy sauce. I thought they both tasted OK. I had a pizza that was fine. The other problem is the price. Dinner for 2 was over $120 . Not terrible but here are many other similar places in Rochester that are as good if not better, more flexible with menu items, great service with a more reasonable price. read more

Beware the scam......... took three times to split evenly our dinning bill and until the third time each credit card had anywhere from $15 to $20 additional monies. To correct they had to run our cards several times to get credit and figure out the math. They blamed the computer, then the waiter (who was great)..... and very unapologetic. Also beware an instant 20% they add for parties of 6 or more.... also a BS policy.... but check the math. Dear Friends at Fiamma, I have been there several times and also some private party events. Last night I brought 4 friends to celebrate one of the girls who is going through cancer treatment. They came from Buffalo because I have raved about the food. Well, last night was different! The salad was great, however, four of us had pasta and the pasta was not cooked, it was actually hard on the outside and mushy, chewy and awful! I was totally embarrassed. I do understand al dente pasta but this was certainly not al dente. I got the seafood rigatoni and there was also only mussel in it! Two of my friends got the pasta pomodoro and they ended up just letting it go to waste because it was so hard! I do not normally send emails like these but I am a huge fan of your restaurant so I wanted to let you know as I do want to come back and hopefully bring the girls with me! Besides the mediocre food and good company, everything else was very frustrating. This is not a good place for a large group. There were 9 of us. We were seated at 2 round tables pushed together. After we ordered, we were given bread and oil, but no, they don't have butter for the bread. A couple of us wanted refills on our sodas and refills were provided, but we didn't know until the ONE bill (they don't split bills) arrived that there are no free refills. One of us wanted a to go container for her sauce but they didn't have bowls/cups, so the waitress suggested a regular square container to put sauce in. The one bill came and we each had to figure out our own bills (they weren't even split up to show who ordered what). Very unpleasant experience. We will not be back. I've definitely had better Italian food too. Let's not forget the credit card charge as well. I know many places have this now, but it was one more thing to add on to the bad experience. I will also point out that the waitress acted like she didn't want to be there and anything we asked for was like punching her in the face. She's another reason we won't be back. read more

Our party of 9 ate at Fiamma on a quiet Tuesday night. This was my third time and I wont be going back again. On the positive side - the Cozze Fra'Diavolo (Mussels) were perfect. Tender, tasty and with a spicy marinara sauce. - The hanger steak was amazing, tender and delicious for one bite... Downhill from here - All four hanger steaks that came to the table were barely warm. I told the waiter and he promptly took It away. When he brought it back the temperature was right but everything to love was now gone. The original plating had nice shaved Parmesan chunks and a delicious glaze on a perfectly medium rare steak. What returned was now almost well done, and the cheese and glaze were cooked off. - The broccoli side was inedible. I don't know how it's possible but it was stringy and tough while also being over cooked. - Finally, the service was very disorganized. Not only did they not know who ordered what, but as they called out the dishes they didn't describe them correctly so no one claimed them. - finally, near the end of the night, my water was empty and I was about to reach for the carafe on the table. Our waiter came and began to top off everyone else's water, then took the half full carafe away. You guessed it , my glass was still empty. Fiamma is too expensive for these lapses. There are many great Italian restaurants in the area so don't waste your money here. read more

My husband and I just tried this place for the first time last week and I can't get enough! We did curbside pickup and everything was hot and ready as soon as we pulled up. Staff was very friendly and accommodating on the phone when ordering as well as picking up. The food was amazing. We each ordered a pizza and split the meatball appetizer; everything was so good we ended up ordering takeout a second time that week! Happy to say we've found a new favorite spot (which is pretty exciting especially during covid). Our server Lenny was good. The food was delicious. This was our first time at this location. I didn't realize there were 2 floors and the 2nd floor is reservations so that leaves 10 seats downstairs plus the bar. Fortunately they had some tables open. I was impressed the hostess was concerned about us having the sun in our eyes while dining. My only issue was that the music was so loud and more for a club scene, I had to keep asking my husband to repeat himself because I couldn't hear him. Abysmal service - you need remind the staff about bread, water. To add insult to injury, the waitress was adamant that nothing could be taken off our check. Reservations for 7 people at 5:45. Waitress immediately gave her name brought waters and took our drink order. Drinks came in a timely manner. The artisanal cocktails were excellent and priced per market; a little pricey, but all cocktails are at other restaurants in Rochester as well. We did not order salads, soups or apps, so dinners came next. Three pizzas, a calzone (large), two special risottos and a pizza sandwich. All were excellent and everyone took leftovers home. Two desserts ordered and shared. Excellent. We did not feel rushed at all, all staff was extremely professional. 7 diners, 6 cocktails, bill included 20% tip, was surprisingly low. Extra tip given for a great experience. The one thing that detracted from the experience was the noise level. The elevated ceiling amplifies sound and made hearing the other side of the table difficult. I would love to know the history of the building. read more

This was my 3rd time there for dinner and will be my last. one of the people in our party ordered a drink at the bar downstairs, and another person in our party ordered the same drink when we sat down for our reservation. The drink tasted completely different than the one served at the bar, and was served in a metal glass instead of a glass like the other one was served, maybe influencing the taste. When this was brought up to our waitress she was completely dismissive and said "I can put It in another glass, and if we remake It it's going to taste exactly the same" she went ahead and had the bartender pour the drink into another glass. I have never been more embarrassed and uncomfortable with how this waitress treated us throughout the entire dinner even before we mentioned the drink. She was rude, condescending and would be a much better fit at a fast food restaurant. No matter how much I spend or where I dine, I expect to be treated with some decency. After our $400.00 bill, with a 20% tip that she did not deserve, I hope this restaurant makes some changes or It will not be around for much longer read more
