First I have to say, I love that I can bring my dog and that the staff is always kind about it too. The few times Ive gone they are so courteous and bring her a bowl of water. I'm not a big beer drinker as opposed to my niece and friends, but I do like the blackberry parfait fruited sour ale. It's not really sour. Especially in comparison to the aloha vibes sour. I also tried the froze which has peach puree I believe l. It wasn't too bad either. The one day we were there, there happens to be a smash burger vendor and they were very well done. So if you go and they are there, worth a try. There was actually a bunch of ceramic vendors set up along the side as well. Not sure if it was part of the breweries doing, but it was a nice to go take a stroll over and go peek at the goods. We came to celebrate my brother's birthday, the first of three planned stops. When we went (a few weeks ago) the kitchen was closed so hummus and snacks were the food options, we did not try them. Great location and had high hopes for my first time here. Server did not really seem to want me to order at the bar instead of through the QR app. I ordered two flights and two single drinks for our party of four and one of the flights was not correct when brought to our table. Regardless we drank through the flights, enjoying the nice weather that day. Went up and purchased a mix and match four-pack on the way out, tipped well despite the so so service. Made our next stops and when we got home later was really disappointed to see the beers I brought home were not the ones I asked for. I know, my bad for not checking before I left, but I was left with the feeling that there was no attention to detail regarding the service we received that day. I have loved fieldwork since its first location opened in Berkeley. Beer selection is creative and delicious. Ambiance at their breweries are always fun and chill. The hazy beers at fieldwork are my go-to. The location in San Mateo has now expanded to include a large TV and they play local sports games now, which is awesome. I wish they sold larger beer packs at Costco so it would be easier to bring to parties vs having to visit the brewery. read more

As a local and a guide, highly recommend everyone to stop by here. The service and craft brews are fantastic. You can bring your own food. They have a decent menu or you can QR code get food delivered from next-door. Lots of comfy chairs there's a plush leather couch, fire pit and outdoor patio their kid, friendly + dog friendly . Even cat friendly. If you're new try the PULP 6.9% citra IPA its their flagship. Smooth. Not bitter. Everything here is good. Ask for a sample try the double IPA.! Came to fieldwork for the first time and we reserved the firepit. It was such a great spot for the kids and parents. Lots of open space for kids to run around and still within eyeshot of parents. They had smash burgers available but not through fieldworks. QR codes all around to order your drinks. Many beers on tap. The post-work rush is real at Fieldwork. We weren't expecting for it to be as crowded as it was since it was before 5 PM, but it definitely was. You should also come a lot earlier if it's a cold day and you want to sit by a heat lamp. Unfortunately there was only one table available to us (which we ended up sharing with another party) and it was in the area with the TV but no heaters, so it was a bit chilly the whole time. They have a huge beer selection; I'd definitely want to come back and try the customizable flight which looks fun. I got the Hills and Valleys + Jelly Packet sour ale. Both were good, but not striking. We opened a tab when we ordered at the counter, but then learned that you could just order via QR code at your table to which they bring out your drinks to you. We came across Fieldwork while visiting Oxbow Public Market and decided to stop in around 10:30am on a Saturday. It was nice, quiet and we pretty much had the indoor space to ourselves. There is a large outdoor area with a ton of seating. The employee at the counter greeted us right away and was welcoming. They have a solid variety of beers on tap with plenty of options to choose from. I went with the shandy, and it was exactly what I was looking for. Refreshing, flavorful, and perfect for a warm spring day. In addition to what's on tap, they also have a fridge stocked with canned beers available to grab on your way out. Great spot to cool off and enjoy a quality beer before or after exploring the Oxbow market. read more

Fieldwork is one of my favorite breweries due to its fast changing menu and creativity. This particular location is seated near apartment complex and therefore quite busy over the weekend. The garden has plenty of seatings and playground but during the peak time the seats might be limited. But the sunlight for location is blocked by a huge building complex so it can be a bit chilly without heaters around. read more

I like that the area is chill and relaxed. There is a small patch of grass and seating area right outside (no alcohol allowed past the Fieldwork patio) and they allow well-behaved dogs and children. It's a convenient place for meeting up. The only problem is parking, but Sundays has unlimited parking. We ordered food/drinks from the table which was convenient. The drinks were Ok - we ordered a berry parfait and aloha. They were OK. The food was good when the kitchen was open, but now the food is from Bagche which was not that good. -the calamari was mixed with vegetables. The burger wasn't as good as Roam and was well-done instead of medium and kinda bland. The falafel and kofta rice plates were bland, small-portion for what you pay, overcooked...and mostly rice. Never again. I paid extra for the Greek fries...it was just seasoned. Might as well go to Nick the Greek. read more

Miss the pandemic? This place has you covered! You scan a QR code and your socially distanced craft beer adventure begins. Just don't add a beer to your tab after 8:45pm. They automatically close your tab. The silent last call has screwed you out of your second beer. I used to book hotels in downtown Napa just to visit this place when it was in the Oxbow. They had amazing servers who loved craft beer and offered amazing insights. Now, it's sort of like a visit to the DMV. The beer is still amazing. But, you will probably need to grab some cans to go if you value any level of customer service or human interaction. read more

There are many picnic tables to sit as well as chairs and bocce ball area. The buildings are containers for the beers and restroom area. We love this place and had not been in a long time. Unfortunately, it is the closest Fieldwork to San Jose. I wish they put one in the south bay! After a fun morning at Coyote Point, we came here for drinks and lunch. Right now there isn't any food options close by so thank goodness they have delicious Detroit style pizza and a VEGAN cheese option! It was soo delicious that I ate the entire pizza by myself. I also finally got to try their blueberry beer slushie and it was just as spectacular and refreshing as it looked on IG. They had three slushies on tap and a bunch of great summer beers. I took home a four pack of a non alcoholic summer beers (Grapefruit blonde). This place is ideal for kids, groups, and sunny vibes. The service is friendly and relaxed. read more

Fieldwork San Mateo has changed quite a bit. Their menu online is outdated - no longer serve pizza. If you want food, you have to order through a QR code, and the food is catered from a nearby Mediterranean restaurant ( https://www.bahchesf.com ) instead of being made in-house. Drinks were great as usual, but the food situation was not what I expected. Should have taken a pic but there's no indoors. All outdoors and theres portion of the outdoors that's hooded . All areas have heater fans, I visited on a cold day and it was very comfortable. The outdoor setup alone makes this a great place to hangout on a nice day (and the heaters make sure you can do it when the weather is not nice). I love coming here on a sunny day to read a book and have a flight/beer or two. My only complaint would be the price of a pint, but you can't deny that the beer is good. read more

Fieldwork is one of my favorite breweries in the Bay! The San Mateo location specifically is tucked in a nice area surrounded by tall business buildings and very accessible by CalTrain. It's also a short walk from Hillsdale Mall so that's a plus! In addition to their wide assortment of IPAs and sours, the main advantage of Fieldwork is their quick and convenient ordering system. Just scan the nearest QR code to where you are sitting, order from your phone, and they will bring your drink to you wherever you are! You can start a tab or pay as you go, it's really flexible. And their seating area is quite spread out, equipped with picnic tables, benches, stools, heaters, fire pits, and a sand pit. The vibes are always great whenever I come to grab a beer! read more

4/6/24 Zach and I came out to Fieldwork Brewing Company for some beers and a snack. Since it is dog friendly, we had to bring Coco. This place is all outdoors with heat lamps, two fire rings and some overhead covering. Water cups and water are provided in water jugs like the ones sports teams use. To order, you scan the QR code on the table, open a tab and the food/drink is brought to your table. The staff are friendly and you are allowed to bring outside food to eat at the tables / fire rings. Zach got a IPA beer, and I got the Rainbow parfait. To share, we got pita bread and hummus. The pita bread was warm, but the amount they put on the plate is not worth the price. I can see this place being a popular spot during the summer or at least on warmer days. Their food menu is pretty limited so it's probably better to bring our own food. Zach and I ordered from Roam Burger which is across the street, so we ate our burgers at Fieldwork. read more

I got the Aloha Vibes, which is a Kettle Sour Ale, and it totally lived up to the name--it was super fruity, light, and really refreshing. The outdoor space was big with tons of seating, and even though it got packed during the after-work crowd, it didn't feel cramped. Lovely neighborhood brewery, will definitely be back. Came here after work with my colleagues to grab drinks and food. I tried a curated flight called East meets West which was 6 different IPAS. It was a pretty generous pour which is great for beer enthusiasts. I was driving so it was bit too much for me to finish. The pretzel, hummus and Detroit style pizza were all delicious and perfect accompaniments to the beer. It was good crowd for a Wednesday and seemed like a mix of people who live in the area and folks who work in nearby companies. Fire pits make it inviting even when weather is a little chilly. I saw bocce and bean bag toss games as well, didn't play but it's nice option and adds to the cool vibe. read more

A crowded, noisy madhouse. I know that they brew good beer, and are excellent craftsmen (and women.) But their brewery is not at all conducive to relaxing or conversing or anything else. It is jammed full of people, and has a little playground for children to run around and generally make noise and be disruptive. So, on that basis, I cannot recommend it. The Detroit style pizza was done perfectly with each corner piece having a perfectly crispy golden cheese skirt. Toppings were savory and made me go in for another bite every time. I loved the fireball for its spice but my friend preferred the kale yeah for its pesto. Services order from phone at the table. They're super quick! Ambiance is perfect - string lights are up and there's a lot of space. The beer in my opinion is where this place is alright - with flights, some of the beers were hit or miss. It is in the heart of San Mateo area, but it's in a very secluded area. It's an open top and covered brewery, pet friendly. This place has amazing vibe it special in the beer, so don't expect a lot of food options to be there, but there are some great choices of beer that you can try it but not service. There's a QR code you scan order and the foods gonna appear on your table and the drinks to the Services super fast , they had very few options for food but they had like pizzas amazing on pizza bread we would definitely go back and visit this place more and more friends because this is fun to go read more

My family has grown to love all the fieldwork locations, but San Mateo's might be our favorite of them all. Though it is completely outdoors and gets cold quickly, the atmosphere is so welcoming and inviting with the many seats, fireplaces and fun activities like bocce ball and cornhole for visitors to use. Their food is probably second to San Leandro's location, but still pretty good! My family really liked the pepperoni pizza and cider (rainbow ... parfait?). The crust of the pizza was really crispy while the rest of pizza was fluffy. Highly recommend coming here, there's ample street parking and a cute little park across the street - 10/10 read more

We went to Fieldwork after a team pottery class next door and it ended up being a great happy hour spot. The vibe was super chill, clearly a common corporate HH spot as most people were in their company vests/patagonias LOL. Upon arriving, we seated ourselves outside at one of the big benches with a heater, which was perfect. Each table has a QR code you can scan from multiple phones, and it all goes on one tab, which made ordering for a group really easy. I got the Rainbow Parfait sour--it was super refreshing and had a nice tangy kick. We split two Detroit-style pizzas (pesto and pepperoni), and honestly, they were really good. Crispy edges, good flavor, right thickness, not too salty, just overall solid. We also shared some pretzels with mustard dip--simple but also solid.
