This was my first time at this restaurant, and I found the Customer Service by Kevin Flores to be equal to that of the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas meaning he was five stars excellent!!! He did an excellent job with helping us make choices on our orders. He was always very upbeat when he was helping us in regards to having any questions and when you would wave him down, he would come over have zero attitude and never made us feel rushed while he was helping us . Our dishes tasted outstanding.!! I've been to the San Mateo location before and thought it was such a cool wide open space. So when my friend wanted to catch up and he suggested Fieldwork but in San Leandro, I did not hesitate. Whoever is scouting different cities for an open space is doing a darn good job. This location is very spacious, dog friendly, kid friendly, date friendly, all the friendly friends you wanna include. We got the fries, hold the garlic, and a pizza. The beers were refreshing and the food was ok. Great service, great space. read more

Popped in on a warm Friday evening and enjoyed sitting out on the open roof patio. Lots of doggos, including my 2, and lots of energy. I liked that we could order by app. Super easy and had to make the overall service faster with the size of the crowd. Enjoyed a NA drink, shishito peppers (super yummy aioli!), and a Detroit style pizza. Very tasty and fresh. Great spot in San Leandro, lots of friendly people. Nice brewery in downtown SL with both good food and good drinks! I got the mixed berry parfait sour ale and it was so good, it had a bit of vanilla in there to really give that parfait concept. The Hail Mary pizza was one of the best pizzas I've ever had! It had a good balance of sweetness from the caramelized onions and honey along with some spicy from the chili sauce. The Brussels sprouts were good but they were pretty burnt at the top so that part wasn't enjoyable. Peeled off the burnt pieces and it was fine but would've preferred not having to do that. Really cool brewery! First let me preface by saying I don't drink. I stopped drinking years ago, drinking just was no longer my thing but I do enjoy hanging out with my friends, who do drink, and visit cool breweries. We came here about an hour before closing time during the week and it was busy. They have a large patio area that's both indoor/outdoor and they also have fire pits to keep warm. They had a good amount of food items to choose from so if you want to enjoy a bite while enjoying your brew they have you covered. The staff was friendly and the location was clean and there is plenty of parking since it's in a shopping center. They also offer board games so if you're sticking around for awhile and want to enjoy the games with your friends, they also have you covered! My friend enjoyed their beer offerings and my friends even bought some to go. I recommend! read more

My friends and I went here to celebrate a birthday. We had mostly come for the beers, and our entire group ended up getting a flight each. These flights were massive! That's probably due to the size of the cups, but they do give you a good amount in each. The ambiance was great for the celebration! It was dog friendly, and we were allowed in the patio area, so we had walls that helped block the wind during winter time. The layout was spacious, and they even had fire pits in case you were too cold. To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of the pre selected staff beer flight--I only really liked 2 out of the 6. However, I definitely feel like it would have been different if I just decided to pick beer types that I know are tried and true. I just wanted to see if I could expand upon them when trying the staff version. Our friends ordered a couple of pizzas, so I was able to try a slice of one, and it was good! I believe it was a Detroit style pizza, so all the edges were extra crisp, and the toppings were on point. The staff was also very kind and accommodating. They helped us get the fire pit started almost as soon as we sat down. Overall, I definitely would recommend this brewery. read more

We are so happy to live less than 10 mins from Fieldwork. This place recently opened up in our area and my honey loves a beer so we knew we'd have to check it out. We took our baby on Friday night and we're pleasantly surprised to find there were other babies and children in attendance, enjoying the night out with their parents. We loved the Fun Guy pizza and I enjoyed a light beer called Evie's. This is a great communal place, I like that you are meant to sit and hang with other guests. We sat at a table with a couple who enjoyed entertaining and being entertained by our baby. They suggested the Kale salad which was delicious and we got the Fun Guy pizza-super earthy and mushroom rich. We will be back with friends next week! read more

After walking by daily and watching Fieldwork slowly come together, we finally dropped by on Saturday, just a couple of days after they opened, and were really happy with our first experience here. The open air courtyard is fantastic with its ample seating, fire pits, and a 75-year-old olive tree (which pays nice homage to the rich history of agriculture in San Leandro, though I'm not sure if that was part of the decision-making process in including the tree). Murals were nearly finished but still in-progress when we ate here, but looked really nice despite not being done. Seat yourself, order from the menu using the QR code on the table, and wait for your food and drinks to come by (or order at the counter inside if you prefer). The menu is pretty beer and pizza heavy, with a number of different appetizers to round things out. Nearly every pizza on the menu sounded really delicious so it was hard to choose, but we went with the Delivery Boy (pepperoni, Castelvetrano olives, roasted jalapeños, onions, and mozzarella, $20) and shared an order of the shishito peppers ($10) and the hot pretzel ($8). My fiancé ordered a beer flight (I believe he said it was $3 per beer); while I don't know which beers he got, he enjoyed all of them. The food was fantastic. Everything was very hot and fresh. The shishitos had a nice char and a great miso aioli, and the pretzel had a crunchy exterior with a super soft, chewy interior. The mustard served on the side had a good, spicy kick. The pizza was perfect; while I don't typically like olives, the Castelvetranos were a nice addition and all of the flavors came together well. These are thin crust pizzas, which held up well to all of the toppings and folded in half nicely for easier eating. However, without an appetizer I wouldn't have been full sharing this pizza, but would've at least left satisfied. All the staff were super friendly and welcoming when we walked in and seemed genuinely enthused to be there, and asked us for our feedback after our meal. My biggest criticism is the lack of options on the non-alcoholic drink menu, which is limited to three different flavors of Boylan sodas. Yes, this is a brewery, but given that they serve food they should expect that people who don't drink much or at all will be tagging along with the people there for beer. Iced tea would be a good addition along with a couple of other options. Additionally, I'm not crazy about QR code menus. I've mentioned this in a previous review, but I'm not a fan of the trend of limited service in restaurants, with wait staff that bring out your food and don't really interact at any other time except to clear plates (sometimes not even that). It at least matches the casual, easy vibe of Fieldwork, and there is the option of ordering at the counter like I mentioned above if you prefer human interaction. Minor feedback aside, Fieldwork is a really great and much-welcomed addition to the San Leandro food scene. For those who may be curious and have never tried tried it, the menu at nearby Sons of Liberty is different (and just as delicious), with an assortment of dishes like duck carnitas, poutine, mac and cheese, a fried chicken sandwich, seasonal entrees and desserts, and more. Go to Fieldwork if you're in the mood for fantastic thin crust pizza, go to Sons of Liberty if you're looking for hearty entrees, and if you're looking for beer -- go to whichever has what you want on tap. read more

Waited a bit before coming to visit this location. I know that area and it could be a little mad to find parking downtown but when we decided to visit - it was perfect. Since it was our first time at this location, we ordered at the bar. Pros: Found parking right away. I loved the ability to order a pint/half/taster. Able to grab a table. Beautiful day so the breeze in the open area was wonderful! QR codes on each table so you can open/order from your table. This may seem silly but I LOVED that they had plenty of bathrooms. I know this makes a huge difference when they have a packed house. It's actually really big "outside" with lots of tables and great murals outside. Cons: None that I had this visit! I didn't realize until after that they had wine but it's ok - I really enjoyed the Blueberry Gose. Fieldwork beers don't disappoint and neither did the new location. read more

I couldn't believe it when I saw on Yelp that they had opened a new fieldwork brewing spot in the Eastbay. So happy to have one closer by. My visit was on Saturday over the long weekend. I enjoyed the open area, the nicely planted olive tree in the middle, fire places with nice seating around, ample tables for groups inside and out. Bonus points on the cleanliness of the facility and restrooms. The servers on deck that day were friendly and checked in on customers. They were from all different fieldwork breweries helping to create the success of the newly opened spot. I will be making frequent visits here. Great selection of beer (not just IPAs), the environment is comfortable, and our dog was welcome. The pizzas we ate tasted good.

Overall, a great spot to grab a drink and delicious tasting pizzas. Plus: 1) Delicious pizzas. Non-traditional. You won't find a "combo pizza". Instead, enjoy fresh takes of creativity like tater tots, bacon, garlic puree, or porcini cream, goat cheese, and mushroom. My favorite is Hot and Bothered which comes with sausage, sliced shishito peppers, red chili sauce, ricotta. What I like about these pizzas is that it's thin with a solid base, with a lightly crisped and airy crust. The pizza selections can also be made Detroit style. Yum! 2) Wide range of IPAs. I've only been here a couple of times and there's always a new batch of IPAs. Various selections from Northeast, West Coast and combinations of juicy, dry, fruity. There are so many hoppiness types from Enigma, Mosaic, Citra, etc. I won't pretend to know how these hops compare, but the description in the online menu (not through Toast Tab) is helpful for me to discover its differences. It's illustrated well with bar graphs of sweetness, body, and bitterness for each beer and makes it sorta fun to try and taste what's described. 3) Flight is HUGE. You get a generous pour of ~6-8 oz for each beer you pick, up to 6 selections. 4) Ordering experience. It's catered to the elites that have a smartphone. This means you don't have to wait for a waiter. You go in and sit down to a free spot and scan the barcode on the table, which pulls up the ordering menu on Toast Tab. You and anyone can scan and make their orders too which avoids any dreaded bill splits in the end. You can pay on the spot and/or add a new order at any time from your phone too. No need to hail anyone down unless you have specific needs. 5) Ambiance. You can have indoor or outdoor seating. Outdoor is very comfortable and feels open and inviting since there's a partial roof, yet closed/private enough at the same time depending on where you sit. Not a plus: 1) If you get the pizza here to go, you better eat it fast. Because if you let the pizza cool, especially in the box, it will be very, VERY, tough. I'd skip this altogether unless you know you can eat it in less than 10 mins. 2) Parking. It's in Downtown San Leandro, so the parking lot is in the general plaza and so it's shared with other businesses in the area. It can be hard to find a spot. Great brewery spot. Fieldwork is definitely one of my favorite Bay Area breweries. I was excited when they announced their opening in San Leandro eons ago. (This review is severely overdue.) I've been here several times to either enjoy a few pints or pick up brews for the house. Pulp is definitely one of my faves. Their parfaits are really good, unfortunately I can't handle too much lactose. I loved their slashes during the summer and I'm hoping they have some heavy stout releases for the winter. Pizzas and apps are pretty delicious. The wings unfortunately are not my favorite as there's no crisp to them. I usually like to do a few tasters and then pick a pint from there. Or I go with the consistently good Pulp. Seating is abundant on the patio, although the roof stays open year round. So the spots near the firepit are unavailable if it's been raining. Service is friendly, but if it's crazy busy, it can be slow. Parking is always a challenge in the lot, I'd recommend taking ride share or parking on the street and walking. read more

Love this place! Been following Fieldwork since they opened in Berkeley and was super excited when they opened up this spot in San Leandro. They have a great selection of beers, especially my favorite...sour beers! This is one of their largeat locations in the area. Their outdoor space is great for these warm sunny days. Make sure to come early on Fridays and weekend evenings as it gets pretty full. Food I'm really excited that their food selection is just as good as their beer selection. My favorite item on the menu is their Kale Salad - not lying, I get it everytime I come! They're pizzas are also quite tasty. You can order the pizza as a Detroit style pizza which has a thicker crust or with a thinner crust. I enjoy the thinner crust, but they're both good! And finally they have a variety of plates to share. Their goat cheese is decadent and so delicious. I'm not a big fan of their shishito peppers, but if you have never tried shishito pepper before then I totally recommend. Parking This location is in a shopping center, so even though there are a lot of parking options (street parking, lot parking) they tend to get pretty busy, so get here early or be prepared to circle around a couple times. Came for a late summer, evening date night. It did not disappoint. Perfect volume for the space- felt like you could talk but didn't have to shout. Weather was lovely- 74°, gotta love San Leandro. I ordered a full Light & Day Lager. It was sublime- you could really get the floral notes without too much malt/hops. Perfect for a summer evening. We split the Caesar salad. The soft boiled egg was a wonderful addition. Then we shared a Hail Mary on traditional crust. Not too spicy, wonderful balance with the honey. Crust was crispy and held up to the toppings. We finished off with an Aloha Vibes (straight up, not slushy). It was AH-MAZING! The hubs found it too tart, I thought it was fantastic. Highly recommend! read more

It's great that they were able to renovate this spot in San Leandro to open Fieldwork. It's designed well and so spacious, definitely a great social space for people to enjoy drinks & catch up w/ friends. I've been to fieldwork a couple of times, mostly the one in San Ramon- Bishop Ranch. But this location is more convenient for me. I am more of a sour girlie so I enjoy their Fog Ripper drink or the Salted Watermelon. All the workers I've encountered are friendly and bring out our order quickly. The snacks such as tater tots and pizza are decent. It's a nice area for any day or night event. Recently, my bf, our friends and I were here and gotten a table surrounding a fire pit. We were disappointed that the pit didn't work but it didn't spoil the night. read more

This is the second Fieldwork I've had the pleasure of visiting. I went to a location in Sacramento a few months ago, and last night my girlfriend and I ended up stopping by the San Leandro location for an impromptu dinner. Food-wise, everything met the standard set on my last visit. For our meal, we got a - Funghi Pizza - Kale Salad - Pretzel The pizza was cooked perfectly, the pretzel was awesome (though this location didn't seem to have beer cheese to serve with the pretzels), and the Kale salad was light and refreshing. For drinks we each got some smaller beverages - my girlfriend got a taster of the Rainbow Parfait Sour which was tart and sweet at the same time, and I got a Watermelon Pulp IPA which was a nice balance between hoppy and fruity. The vibe at this location is very laidback - there is plenty of outdoor seating with some traditional Biergarten/picnic style tables along with outdoor chairs placed by fire pits. Service was fairly nice - definitely, a little hands-off as you order on your phone. But the food was brought promptly and served fresh. I will say that my only gripe if anything was that our drinks were brought pretty late into our meal, but that didn't deter from the overall experience too much. All in all, this location does a great job of representing the Fieldwork brand. With awesome food and a great beer selection, you can't go wrong visiting this place if you find yourself in the San Leandro area. 4/5 read more

We are pizza lovers, so we get the pizzas all the time. The Detroit style pizza is tasty, and the tin crust is good too. However, a few times the thin crust pizza we have gotten is soggy in the middle. We like the QR code option to order, and the orders come in a decent amount of time. You won't be wanting to long.
