This place finally opened in Johnstown after several months of teasing me. They opened on last Saturday and we went on Sunday so they were still working out the kinks. That being said I thought it was exactly what Johnstown needed with a different flavor for a good price. My wife got the mixed fajitas and I got a sampler with a tamale, beef and chicken flauta, and beef and chicken nachos. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her fajitas and had enough to take home for a second meal. I enjoyed all 3 of my items and got a full sampling of things for less than $11. They have Jarritos which are delicious so that was nice. This place is traditional American Mexican food for a great price. If you are tired of the same burgers or rude Chinese food employees then this is definitely a great change of pace. read more

A nice escape from the complete lack of restaurants in Johnstown, literally the only place to sit down and eat in town excluding the over-priced and pompous Ghost Writer. The restaurant itself is lovely. The decor is genuine, and the ambiance is like every other newer restaurant. I have been wanting to try this place for a while because I work less than five miles away, and there is a lot of five-star reviews. The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, he brought chips and salsa to start. The chips were heavy and just ok. I ordered the Fiesta Especial Mexicana, which has a tamale, taco, enchilada, chalupa, and chile relleno. It was by far the saltiest meal I have ever had in any restaurant. All of the items were saturated, like they were soaking in saltwater from the ocean. I tried everything, and the only palatable thing was the taco. It was meh at best, and I know I sound like a disgruntled customer, but I am not. The service was excellent, the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the food was absolutely the worst I have ever had. How there are any five stars for this food is beyond reason. All the five-star people, please drive to Eason and eat at Chuy's. Really like this place. The chips come almost as soon as you sit down, and they keep the refills going. Food is always piping hot, but they've been out of several things I wanted to try the past few times so had to bump off a star. I have to say that I am a little creeped out by the photos on the walls of the men sipping their drinks through straws.. That's just not normal! haha... My initial review on Fiesta Del Rio made the "not recommended" list. Of course no restaurant wants viewers to read any review that is less than favorable. My review, was my honest assessment of my experience when I dined there with my husband. In no way did we enjoy the dining environment we dined in. It seems others found the decor and atmosphere welcoming, relaxing, inviting and great? Did we all eat in the same restaurant?? As to the food, while others found it delicious, I tasted run of the mill, basically the usual not authentic, a lot of pre-made food used, not cooked in-house, from scratch fresh every day, you can get at any Chain of Mexican restaurants and mediocre Mexican restaurants. You will receive LARGE portions at a very comparable price. I have no doubt you will dine in a vastly different environment. You will receive the same at an Authentic Mexican Restaurant except your food will taste so, so much better! You WILL notice the difference. Maybe I am too picky about food quality and the "feel" and atmosphere where I choose to dine and spend my money, but I don't think so. When we dine out and PAY for what should be a satisfying, ENJOYABLE event, we expect GOOD FOOD, good drinks, great service, a fun, RELAXING environment in which to dine, and a PLEASANT, comfortable, thoroughly enjoyable, memorable time spent with my love, family and or friends. I wasn't planning to write a review, figuring this was just a random Mexican restaurant in a strip mall, but we had such a great experience, I feel I need to. The service was super fast, the frozen margarita (although it came from a machine) was great, and the Fajitas de la Casa (beef, chicken, and shrimp) was delicious. Best of all, the price was super reasonable. The staff were extremely friendly and hospitable as well. Just opened a week ago, so we expected a long wait and some chaos. Not the case at all! It was packed and we did wait about twenty minutes, not bad. We were waited on promptly and drinks and chips with salsa were brought within five minutes. The chips were still warm and the salsa was very fresh and tasty. I ordered the steak super burro and my wife ordered the chicken enchiladas. Both were amazing, yes I stole a bite of her enchiladas but at least I waited until she was finished. The portions are ginormous, and the prices were very reasonable. The service was excellent, especially for it being open only a week. I'm so happy that this restaurant has their stuff together, a much welcomed place in our small town! I highly recommend it and I will definitely be back several times! read more

This started out as a great restaurant-delicious food, great service and huge portions. During my last few visits, however, I have been disappointed in the quality of the food. The last time we ate there my steak fajitas were colorless gray and flavorless and the vegetables were all mush. So my fiancé and I went on a short motorcycle ride and decided to stop in when we were done for some margaritas and dinner. We always just sit at the bar but the hostess greeted us and gave us some menus and silverware. We sat down and the chips and salsa arrived shortly after. I love their salsa always fresh. I got a don Julio margarita it was great as always. She got the la bamba as usual loved it. I ordered a #77 it was great love their chorizo. My fiancé ordered a chicken quesadilla and ask them to add chorizo to it and they were very accommodating. She definitely has leftovers portion size was great. Sorry, but last time I picked up a to go order her I noticed many people coming and going without masks. Someone brought my food out to the curb, so I thought I'd be able to keep ordering from here since we love their food. But I just called to place an order and was just told they don't do curbside pickup (even though they did the last time I was there), so I won't be back. Let me know when you get with the new program and start doing curbside pickup. I mistakenly thought you respected the fact that there are many people out there who know that Covid-19 is still here and isn't going away just because we have been given some green light by a few unthoughtful idiots who just want to pretend like it's gone, "poof, like magic." Restaurants will need to find a way of respecting the wishes of all it's clientele and keeping employees safe, which will be hard because you've been left to make up your own rules. Have never had a disappointing meal at Del Rio. The food is the closest to authentic Mexican around. If you like good Tamales, I highly recommend! I have now been here about 10 times. The food is pretty typical for a Mexican restaurant, but we found a few menu items that are better than similar places. The chicken and chorizo burrito is fantastic. The happy hour is $1 off draft beers. Service is usually very good, friendly, and somewhat fast. They don't have a point of sale system so sometimes they forget to adjust for happy hour prices, but if you bring it to their attention, they have always corrected it with no hassle. I like this place better than Blue Agave, down the road in New Albany. Is it authentic Mexican food? No. But it is as good or better than any Mexican place in the area. read more

Oh my goodness! This place is so good. I am writing this after our second visit. The first time was opening night and there were a lot of problems. I did not think it was fair to write a review when they were still working out the kinks of a brand new restaurant, especially since they were obviously overwhelmed by everyone who had waited so long for them to open. Anyway, out second visit was great. My wife and I arrived about 7:30 and we were seated right away. As soon as we sat down we had the usual chips and salsa served. My wife ordered burritos and I had the grilled chicken with Mexican sausage. Both came with the usual sides of rice and lettuce and tomato. In less than 11 minutes our dinners were served! Both dishes were wonderful and the portions were large. We had to take about half of our dinner home since they gave us so much. Our waiter took very good care of us, checking on us often and keeping our drinks filled. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food that you get. I can't wait to try some of their other menu items. read more
