Eaten dinner at Fiesta Cancun four times now in the last three weeks, 1/23/24. Wait time is reasonable for my food order. Had El Ranchero three times and it's well prepared. Out of six of us we all thought our food was very good. We ordered it and then picked it up and brought back to our hotel. I would imagine that eating in there it would've even been better because it has cooled off by the time we got to our hotel. I was a little concerned because they had such a large menu. Usually a large menu means that they don't really specialize in any type of food. They also have regular items such as cheeseburgers and chicken fingers. There are obviously some people reviewing this restaurant that don't understand Mexican cuisine. First, that "grizzle" someone mentioned is actually thin cut flank steak which is very lean, and must be well marinated, which this was. This place does a very good job with it. Another reviewer mentioned that his server didn't speak English, what the heck do you expect in an authentic Mexican restaurant? And my server probably spoke much better English than most of his customers speak Spanish. I'm form Chicago, have a dozen Mexican restaurants to choose from within 2 miles of my house, so I know a good Mexican restaurant when I visit one. Freeport is lucky to have this one. read more

This place was basically just acceptable when we moved here over 3 years ago. For whatever reason, since reopening after COVID the food has improved quite a bit. Their seafood, according to my husband, is quite good I recently ordered their carnitas tacos and the carnitas is very good. Freeport doesn't offer much for locally-owned sit-down restaurants, and really doesn't have much for Mexican food, either, but I'm so glad that the one place it has is Fiesta Cancun. There's an extensive menu with a good variety, the prices are more than reasonable, and the food, simply stated, is really tasty. I've always had good service here; the staff has always kept my drinks filled and the warm tortilla chips coming. Freeport, you're KILLIN' me here. Mexican food is delicious. Mexican food should never be "blah." This...was blah. The chips and salsa were okay, but nothing special. I definitely didn't expect my chicken tacos to come in hard shells that looked straight out of the Ortega box. How could a Mexican restaurant not have soft corn tortillas? Anyway. My meal certainly wasn't inedible or anything, it was just...totally unimpressive. My boyfriend felt the same way about his entree (some steak thing, I don't remember what exactly). For some reason, we decided to get dessert. Although there were several options on the menu, our server told us that only the fried ice cream was available that night. Okay, fine. Except that what we were served wasn't fried ice cream. It was basically an ice cream sundae inside a sweet taco salad shell. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't fried ice cream. Seriamente, you guys? The only thing saving this place is the cute, kitschy Mexican decor, which is more decor than I've seen in most of Freeport's other restaurants. Lets be real. Anyone that knows real Mexican food knows this is not authentic and is neither worth the price. My biggest 'thing', is that they pour the same red or green sauce on everything, they toss some meat and a tortilla, and depending how they wrap it, its what they call it; they just wrap it, fold it or twist it and they call it 'tacos' burritos' or 'flautas'. They one thing I like is their Queso Dip Appetizer. The food is definitely not worth what they charge. Mexican food should be filled with spices and herbs and cilantro and oregano and different kinds of peppers for different salsas and salsas are cooked different! Some are grilled, some are boiled some are fried... it should NOT be sooo bland!!! I think I would rather have a 'quesadilla' at Taco Bell right across the street. Terrible! The tacos are the worst...enchiladas are WAY too salty, and Margarita tasted like poison! There are so many small family-owned Mexican restaurants with more authentic Mexican food...and much better tasting dishes. Why wouldn't you choose to frequent those? Maybe they don't have all the cheesy décor and aren't so crowded, so you don't THINK they're as good....but they are so much better! Don't be so fooled by commercialism and marketing. Food: 2/5 The food is far from authentic, canned beans and tortillas from a bag, meat that has no seasoning make for boring flavors that you can make in your own kitchen. Portions: 4/5 The portions are decent, you at least get an amount of food that leaves you full. Service: 1/5 The waiters seem to care little about you and your order. A guest of mine asked a waiter what was on one of the items and he just shrugged. Our table was rarely checked on as our drinks ran out. Price: 2/5 Not really a bang for the buck here. Environment: 3/5 At least the tables were clean, the interior bright and colorful and televisions inside. The booths and chairs were a bit uncomfortable, though.
