Two stars as the head server was very nice and was able to fix issues...that is the best they have. How does this place stay in business? Likely the slot machines that gobble up pennies from the droves of people that came in while we were eating. Food...this was a joke for Mexican food...tasteless ground beef with chips apparently from a bag. I have had better Mexican food from 7/11. Service...I actually feel bad saying this as the server obviously has a disability, but service was borderline nonexistent. She was easily confused and struggled with basic requests. I've been coming here for the past seven years, and I think their food is really good. Just as with any restaurant, what you get might affect how much you like it. I'd skip the fajitas and try the chorizo skillet or chimichanga, which is huge. Wonderful place to bring kids! read more

I've rated Amigas in the past and still feel it deserves 5 stars. It is probably my favorite all time Mexican restaurant. The size of the servings result in a doggy bag every time. The food is very well made and is always tasty. I usually stop and complement the cooks on my departure. I don't remember ever feeling the need to do this anywhere else. Order no. 28 . I have tried every single Mexican restaurant in a 50 mile radius. The ONLY mexican food that taste like a plate out of a relative's kitchen is Amigos. The rice and beans...I FRICKING LOVE. The beans are not smashed and ghastly, instead they are whole. DELICIOUS. Yeah, the decor is not top of the line, but, I would rather sit in their dining area and spend less than have to pay for the decor of any of these other mexican establishment. I like the owners, they are sincere and an excellent go to spot for Freeport. I was raised in Chicago, I have eaten the best that the city has to offer. Mexican food was terrible. Steak fajitas were sliced up hamburger with taco seasoning. Drinks arrived after we had finished our meal. All of the high chairs are broken with no straps and super sticky. Will not be returning. read more

Amigo's food is excellent, and they serve you a lot of it, you won't leave hungry. This is a little hole in the wall restaurant but it's very good for authentic Mexican food. They are very friendly here and my kids really enjoy going to this restaurant. This restaurant is about the same as Fiesta Cancun here in Freeport, except they havent remodeled their building, but the food is not good either. Tortillas tasted old, as if left out for a week, dry, unflavored meat. It was just a sad experience overall. I have been here once and that was enough for me. read more

I like this place for, surprisingly, their take on some classic American dishes. Their gravy is a bit peppery for my taste on both the Biscuits and gravy, and hot beef. But they are generous with it. Most places just put enough on to technically say it is there. read more

I eat at Amigos regularly (at least weekly), and I enjoy almost everything I've had off their menu. I believe this is the best Mexican food I've had within 50 miles (including better than Fiesta Cancun) and the prices are very reasonable. If I had any complaints, I'd say I need to ask whats "in" things, (i.e. Menudo), before I try them lol! But the amount of food you get with each meal is really substantial (my wife and I both convert each breakfast or dinner entrée into 2 meals. Inside/Outside looks a little like a dive, but they are updating - but if you are looking for a place with great Mexican Food, including Mexican beers and soda - this is it. read more

Amigos always gives me the custom order I ask for every single time, and it is consistent. I order the Tostada's but I don't eat meat, or beans with lard, so I order them to meet my dietary needs, and have never been met with anything but awesome service. I like that they offer Mexican Coke in the bottle, and have reasonable prices, with a lot of food. I will say I have tried a different dish once, and it was not good, so I will only order my favorite. I think the guacamole could use more seasoning and spices, but that is my only suggestion. They are very family friendly and I always feel welcome there, like another home. read more
