Affordable prices, delicious food, and huge portions. It seems they have been remodeling forever, but I believe it is finally finished. Bright colors, lighting, and a bit louder atmosphere make it a locally grown Chi-Chis. If you go, you MUST try their white queso. It's the best I have had out of more than 50 mexican restaurants around the USA. It's the best hometown eating spot in town, and everyone who lives nearby knows it. I've never waited more than 15 minutes for a table, and the lunch buffet is an easy go-to meal. The local university (MVNU) takes prospective students there for lunch during the summer visits. The food is all pretty similar, just in different forms. My favorites have been the chicken quesadillas, the Super Burro (the largest burrito I've ever seen for under $10), and the Steak Fajitas. Expect to leave with a box-full of leftovers. The service is almost always phenomenal. Friendly Spanish friends that are able to carry 10-15 plates on their arms at one time. If its your birthday, expect the large hat and a friendly song as well. read more

I love Mexican food, so of course this is one of my favorite restaurants. I have tried numerous items of their menu and have not been disappointed by any of them. Recently they have expanded their vegetarian section, so I have been exploring those options. All have been delicious. This is the only Mexican restaurant that I am aware of that has a buffet. Everyone that I know that has gotten the buffet has been impressed (and very full). The downside is that it seems that they have been remodeling for years. This does not get in the way of the dining, but just ruins some of the experience. Try the shrimp cocktail. It is not on the menu and takes a little time to make (I like to call ahead and order it), but it is well worth the wait. Notable "thumbs up" line items were: 1) The pace of service- I didn't feel rushed like I do at many Mexican restaurants 2) The music- it wasn't too loud AND it wasn't Mexican- yay! Oh Fiesta, how I love you. They give you huge portions but the grease combined with sugary margaritas is something your stomach will punish you for. The service is just fine, prices are reasonable, and the menu covers your standard Mexican fare. My grandmother was the head chef at three different Mexican restaurants in Tuscan Az. so I have eaten this food my whole life and can honestly say this place is great. Certainly a good pitcher of Margaritas! I am, however not such a fan of the food. I had fish tacos, they were fried with no lettuce or tomato. Served with a side of rice & pico. Just boring. This is my son's and my favorite restaurant in Mount Vernon. I worked for a time in San Diego, Southern California (Point Loma) where I developed a real taste for Mexican food. I did not expect to find it anywhere in middle America. Fiesta Mexicana is authentic--even in its ambiance. When our new Spanish department head, Prof Martinez, joined MVNU in 2009, this is where we took her The food is both delicious in taste and generous in portions. Prices are also reasonable. Food is ok. Wanted something with crabmeat and EVERYTHING with crabmeat apparently is precooked with peppers and onions. I've never been somewhere like this where you can't get shrimp and crab and cheese per se. so i got the sampler which has chicken taquitos ALSO loaded with onion and peppers along with my chicken nachos . When the plate came out the stuff was so loaded most of the nachos were soupy/mushy at the bottom. The flavor was good of the beef and cheese but overall it was either sitting too long or just a mess. Which brings me to the last point. The service! We had the shorter Mexican man, probably in his 30's, who was extremely slow, forgot salsa, forgot our queso, didn't clear table, had to flag him down for many things and our check as he sat at the bar bs'ing! We just traveled for 2 weeks eating out multiple times a day and hands down worst service we've had. My fiancé got the 42 and he liked it. Overall We'd give the service a 1 but I'm giving 3 stars so it doesn't effect their rating as I'm a business owner too! I tried this place years ago and thought we'd try it again, but again not impressed. If you guys are cooking fresh I don't understand how you can't ask for no onions?? Also menu you specify when they are in menu items. Not everyone likes them, also when I don't want to order the crab because of it, it would be a good waiter to say, "oh what you are ordering is LOADED with them!" The service made multiple mistakes and forgot a few things as well as getting a few orders totally wrong and others completely forgotten. Our family came here for lunch today, and it was very good! It's not much to look at so our expectations weren't very high, but we were pleasantly surprised. Me, my husband, and 3 kids got the buffet. It included hard and soft tacos and taco bowls (make your own), cheese quesadillas, chimichangas, taquitos, salad, and a fried dessert tortillas coated in cinnamon sugar and drizzled with chocolate. The 5 of us were seated in a huge booth that probably could've fit 10 people, but it was so nice to have the extra room as we're usually crammed in booths. On a recent visit to Kenyon College my daughter and I despaired of finding a decent (and non-chain) restaurant in nearby Mt. Vernon where we were staying. We took a chance on this "downtown" Mt. Vernon spot, and are we glad we did! Massive servings of very tasty Mexican food in a pleasant surrounding and friendly service. Very good chips and salsa were swiftly refilled without request. I had an absolutely delicious chicken mole which I strongly recommend and my daughter, a vegetarian, enjoyed her quesadillas. My house margarita was nothing special, and next time I would probably get a beer instead. The paper napkins -- a pet peeve of mine -- were offset my rock bottom prices. Bottom line is we felt like we hit the jackpot in an area that to the out-of-towner might seem like an epicurean wasteland. read more

This is your standard American Mexican food restaurant. Pretty sure their food vendors are exactly the same as El Vaquero - everything looked and tasted the same. Prices are the same - everything is $8-$10. I prefer homemade Mexican always over going out for it, but sometimes it's just easier and for some reason Mexican is always good when you're with a big group of people. The original margarita pitcher on the rocks was delicious. You really can't go wrong with what you order since they all involve some variation of cheese, meat, rice, refried beans, shredded iceberg, sad tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream. I will note our server never brought me the side of mole sauce I asked for with my order, but I never said anything because it was so busy (cinco de mayo) and didn't care enough.
