This used to be a great Mexican restaurant. I haven't been there in 12 years. After telling my husband how wonderful the food was, we went there lastnight and won't be going back again. I ordered the mole' chicken. I got bland chicken in a red sauce that was sweet and tasted like cinnamon, just awful!!!! Nothing mole' about it. My husband said his carnitas were ok. Tried their sister property in Lake City, Fiesta Jalisco... Their menu still says "vegetarian * " the asterisk notes that there is lard in the refried beans... Thus making them non-vegetarian. Hmmmm. Too bad, as a good Mexican restaurant was missing in LC & RW. read more

The staff is friendly enough, but the food is TERRIBLE. Chips are either stale or sopping with oil. The cheese dip was made from some grainy substance other than cheese (seriously, I LOVE cheese dip, but after one bite I quit eating this disgusting stuff). The salsa wasn't even fresh. I don't know why anyone continues to go here now that Fiesta Cancun has opened up. I imagine this place will be out of business soon - good riddance! read more

I grew up in Red Wing, Minnesota so I have been to this restaurant many times. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Red Wing so I visit often for significant or causal events. The service is fast and the food is spiced just enough to be interesting. I have found some other Mexican restaurants in the area to have food that is quite bland. I recommend the fajita if it is your first time. Whenever I have people visit from out of town, I recommend this restaurant. read more

The only thing i found Authentic was the Corona Beer that i drank. I chose this restaurant because of tbe yelp reviews but boy was i disappointed. I walked into the place on what seemed to be an unusually busy Thursday night... To try to avoid a long time wait I went to the Bar after confirming that I would be served dinner there.... WHAT A MISTAKE!!!! JUST AS I SAT AT THE BAR THE TENDER LEFT TO THE BACK AND DIDN'T RETURN... I HAD TO GET THE ATTENTION OF THE MGR TO GET SERVICE.... The food itself was NOT up to par... I ordered the beef Fajitas... when they arrived to the table I was hit with the Final blow that took me to the point of choosing between my Hunger or Expectation. I chose to satisfy my Hunger Would I recommend this place. To my enemies YES! The Fajita Skillet was NOT smoking hot as I expected. The greens were still RAW and the Beef was OVER cooked... As a truck driver throughout our beautiful 48 states I've had the fortune of visiting and delighted my palate with Real and Authentic Cuisine. This place was NOT one of those!!! read more

Very bland food, and it's pretty much fast food you get your meal so fast, everything is pre made. Large portions which is nice. I am told they make good margaritas. Friendly that's good. Las margaritas in Hastings or cottage grove is better or mariachi loco in river falls is really good. I'd go to those places before I would go here. this place certainly is as good as it gets-- i've been to this place many times as a red wing resident and consistently every time i've never had a bad meal or service! the food is always perfect and on the table in 10 minutes or less. also, i love the all you can eat chips and salsa pre-meal. very nice! the salsa and chips are always fresh and you can tell they're homemade. if you're going to eat here (which you should) make sure you get the fried ice cream post-meal. absolutely awesome! read more

Being familiar with mexican food, this was a feeble attempt. The chips tasted as though they were store bought and reheated. The salsa lacked flavor and any type of heat. Fiesta has been consistently the best Mexican in Minnesota. The "special sauce" is a red sauce great on enchiladas, chicken or shrimp. The rice is too die for. Also the staff is prompt and never lets the homemade chips sit empty. Do not leave without having the fried ice cream for dessert. 5 stars for sure. read more

I have lived in Red Wing my entire life. This place is going down hill. Today I went there and had my usual the fiesta enchiladas. Half way through my first one I discovered a quarter sized bone in my food... I was disgusted. I told my server she didn't ask if I wanted anything else or to have it remade. Then I went to go pay. I told the manager about what happened and she said that was completely normal and that she won't give me a discount because I "ate it." I don't consider half of one of the enchiladas and some rice eating my meal. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. read more

Went here yesterday for lunch with friends who LOVE the place. This was my first time back to FM in about 12 years. My friends were footing my bill so figured may as well see what they were raving about! The waitress was good - courteous and prompt with drink refills and taking our orders. Our orders came out quickly (I'd say within 5 minutes or so from the time we placed the order). The waitress was concerned that the plates were hot which made false hope of our food also being piping hot. I ordered some sort of beef enchiladas with refried beans and rice. The beef inside the enchiladas was lukewarm at best but had decent flavor. The rice was a little on the bland side but ok. The refried beans, unfortunately, were extremely salty. I saved half of my lunch for lunch for today which prompted me to write a more accurate review here. Still trying to figure out how they managed to not have warm to hot steak filling in the enchiladas as it seemed to be something that sat in a crockpot (or similar) in the back all morning. Not sure if I will go back again. They did offer chips and salsa which was so-so as well. read more

Just BAD. The food, the service, everything. Our visit was a Saturday night at 6pm and the restaurant was about 1/4 full. Never had a chip refill or even asked if we wanted more chips- actually the empty chip basket sat on our table until we left. Don't expect to get what they actually list with their menu items. My taco order listed sour cream and guac- no sour cream came-asked server and got charged $2 extra. My daughter ordered Chicken Nuggets off their American Food section- said it came with fries AND a salad. No salad came-server told us it was fries OR salad. Although on their menu it says AND. The server was one of the worst I've ever had. My husband and I sat with empty drinks nearly the entire meal. We had NO napkins, we waited for our check with empty plates for about 20 minutes and the kicker...their check was hand written. Yes, chicken scratch...so trying to figure out what you got charged for was interesting. We saw what looked like 2 managers in the bar area- the male was watching TV nearly the entire time and the female we saw once running out food. Other than that- nobody to help us grab our bill or ever checked on our food. read more

Have been regulars at Fiesta for 15 years...great staff. The have the best chicken soup in Red Wing as well as seafood soup. Their shrimp and avocado in a type of cocktail sauce should be tried. The have very good re-fried beans, rice and black beans. Mole' is suppose to have cinnamon in case anyone is wondering. read more

We went there on a Saturday afternoon and it was not busy at all. We were greeted at the door and taken to s booth. We were told it was too late for the lunch special, even though it was advertised until 3p.m. and it was 2:30 P.M. i said it was only 2:30 but the server corrected me and insisted it was 3:30 so we just left ir alone and figured he probably couldn't tell time. We ordered a chimichanga and enchilada/tamale combination. We only waited five minutes and heard the microwave ding twice and ta-dah! The food and plates were too hot to touch so we knew they were microwaved. (and nobody could make those dishes in less than five minutes). The chicken chimichanga was blah and had no seasoning and wasn't even spicy at all. The same for the other dish. The highlight of the dinner was the fried ice cream, which was the only thing freshly made. The salsa n chips and guacamole were excellent. But the main dishes were just reheated and flavorless, sorry to say. The servers were nice, but the food not worth the price. read more

After hiking both the Upper Bluff and Lower Bluff trails at Frontenac State Park, my wife, daughter and I were famished and looking for a place to eat lunch in Red Wing. We arrived at Fiesta Mexicana around 2:00 PM, long after any kind of lunch rush, and promptly seated. Two of us ordered from the lunch menu and the third off of the dinner menu. I was pleased with the lunch menu portions, especially in light of the reasonable price ($7.50 for the Burrito Colorado). And despite the time of day (long after the lunch rush), the side dishes (rice and beans) were fresh - they didn't taste as if they'd been in the steam table for hours. One small disappointment, however, was the coffee - very weak. Granted, I'm a bit of a "coffee snob", frequenting Starbucks and numerous other local Minneapolis coffee shops, so I admittedly have high standards for a cup of java. When considered as a whole - prompt service from the staff, reasonable prices (on the lunch menu) and tasty food - we had a very good dining experience at Fiest Mexicana. On this day the staff earned a four star rating and gave us a reason, if ever in the area again, to dine once again at Fiesta Mexicana. read more
