Excellent new restaurant in Vernon! My husband had the fajitas and I had the chicken quesadilla and they were both fantastic. They were already busy for only being open for about two weeks, which is a testament for how desperately Vernon needs new and good restaurants. The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, and the steak was as well. We especially liked the tortillas and questioned if they were made in house, we will definitely be back again. read more

I'm not kidding when I say the burritos at Fiesta Mexicana are truly fabulous. That's what I told the server today and handed back to her a clean plate. I came here on a recommendation from a friend. They rave about this place. I think overall it's good enough to come back and have a meal but it's just good, and not amazing. We had the fajitas and I think it tasted good but was missing more flavor or herbs/spices/marinade. I feel like their food could use more of that. The chips and their different varieties of salsa are pretty good. I really don't expect Mexican food in CT to be that amazing. Been here several times over the years. Usually pretty decent but came here on an early Sunday evening and it was terrible. I ordered a quesadilla (which is not hard to make well) and it was dripping with grease, some parts were overly browned and others looked like they barely touched the pan. Guac that came on the side was AWFUL. Guava margarita was overly sweet, couldn't taste the tequila at all. Just overall hugely disappointing. Finally a decent Mexican restaurant in the Vernon Rockville area! Friendly quick service, delicious food ( not as chain like and cheesy like Plaza Azteca) and very reasonable prices. The menu is basically the same as every neighborhood Mexican joint, so expect to get whatever you typically like. My partner and I live close to this location. Locals will know what I'm saying when I say I that I was sad when Charlie's closed! R House was ok. We got a flyer on our car one day announcing the Grand Opening in several days' time and we decided to see if there was maybe a soft opening, and there was! Veggie chimichangas and enchiladas and nachos are all good: another review mentioned Plaza Azteca and Margarita's as rough equivalents, and I agree, but Fiesta is def the best of the 3. They use a variety of veggies at Fiesta: zucchini julienned, carrots, etc. This may sound crazy, but THE SHAPE OF THE VEGGIES MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THEIR YUMMINESS: more surface areas to get crispy, and not so large that the texture/mouthfeel is interrupted WITHIN A SINGLE PIECE, right? So: by far the best variety and methodology of veggies at any local Mexi place. Second: one day the server asked us if we like hot sauce: YES!! YES I DO! They brought this housemade salsa with fresh mushrooms and jalapeños and I think habaneros? It is one of the most DELICIOUS THINGS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. The mushrooms and carrots in it balance and sweeten the heat of the peppers. Ask for the housemade mushroom salsa if you like hot stuff. The coconut margarita is pretty bangin'. I love this place SO MUCH and the waitstaff all recognizes us (all very friendly, too) to the point that we feel sorta self-conscious for going there so much. I'm not going to say that overall the Mexican food as a whole is my fave ever, but it is really great. The shroom salsa, tho, IS my fave ever. I have never had another salsa like it! This was the first restaurant we visited during Covid and I have to say I thought they did a great job given all the circumstances. They turned their parking lot into a pretty big outdoor dining space and the tables are all pretty spaced out with giant umbrellas. It's also on the side of the building so you do get some privacy without being right in the front for drivers to stare and pass by. The service is always good all the waitresses have a smile although you can't really see it with their masks on you can tell from their eyes lol. The food is always fresh and hot and they do extensive cleaning after each guest. Whenever we're in the mood for Mexican and margaritas we will definitely be going back! read more
