We expanded our search radius for mexican food in AC. This place is an easy 10 min drive from AC, and is the classic hole-in-the-wall type place, we were very happy to have found this place. We get there around 6p on a Saturday night, and it's empty. We were slightly worried, but more and more people and families showed up during our meal. And we also noticed a lot of take out orders. Me and my friend split a mixed nachos. Nachos are always big. But these were large, and so flavorful. Abundant amounts of beef, chicken, avocado, and cheese cover the mounds of fresh chips. And the toppings are nicely mixed throughout the nachos, and not just on top like many places. Beware - this can easily fill up 2 people for dinner alone. We left about half uneaten. My friend ordered enchiladas verdes o de mole - with green sauce. He noted it was spicy! Everything was fresh and looked great. I ordered the Tampiquena Oaxaca Style - which includes 2 mole enchiladas, a plain sope, and a big huge piece of carne asada (or you can choose grilled chicken). The beef was slightly overcooked, but was still flavorful. This was a lot of food. The enchiladas were very flavorful. All ingredients are fresh. We were happy to have found this place. Can't really go wrong with a place like this, there's always quality food that leaves you feeling full/satisfied. Had myself chicken and shrimp fajitas, which is my usual go to ... so I was hoping it would it the spot. Super hot and still sizzling when it reached the table with great service and hospitality. I'll be back again if I'm in the area. Andrea waited on us and provided the hospitality which corresponded with the excellent food. We had the chicken tostadas which were devine. The combination of Mexican cheese, lettuce, avocado and chicken blended well. The second entree was the Taco Salad. The portion was large consisting of an excellent tasting taco shell which included beef , lettuce, avocado, Mexican cheese, black beans, plus sour cream. The menu is traditional Oaxaca food, it does NOT disappoint. The service was friendly, I'm guessing this is a family establishment. I picked Enfrijoladas and boy was my mouth happy! I love beans so this dish drew me in. Think small corn tacos stuffed with cheese, covered in black bean sauce with crema & queso fresco. Being from Texas I was very hesitant to try Mexican food in New Jersey. My last experience with that was odd to say the least. I trusted my fellow Yelpers, and they did not disappoint. I had a combo dinner, way more food than I could eat. It had mole Enchiladas, a Sopa, thinly sliced beef, rice and black beans. The enchiladas were excellent, the sopa was my favorite, the beef was a touch over cooked but it had a good flavor. I had to try their signature dessert the Chocoflan. Not being a huge chocolate lover, I was concerned it would be too much. The chocolate cake at the bottom of the flan was perfect. Moist, mild chocolate flavor (Mexican, yes it is different), and not too sweet. This is a creation of the owners wife and she makes it fresh every day. This is very truly Mexican food, it is vegetable based, making it lighter than Tex-Mex. read more

Hidden Gem. This is a great byob Mexican restaurant with great prices, even in this crazy inflated economy we are in. I had the carnitas tacos and there were amazing. A friend of mine had a burrito which probably could have fed a family of 4. It came with a side of rice and beans. Even the chips and salsa were awesome. Be prepared for some spice in the salsa which I loved though. The staff are friendly and the food is amazing. Large dinning area for any size party. I read the reviews and decided to give this new place a shot. I'm so glad we did as the food is exactly as all the other reviews shared, 100% authentic! You really can't find Telayuda (Mexican pizzas) anywhere (& we aren't talking Taco Bell Mexican pizzas) and the carne asada one was GREAT! It was HUGE and enough to feed 3-4 people. We also had the grilled cactus which was PHENOMENAL! For our entrees we had the Diablo Shrimp and the Mexican Shrimp both of which were extremely flavorful and accompanied by rice and beans and tortillas. The place is a BYOB and a liquor store is right across the street so we ran in and got our Modelo 6-Pack to enjoy with the meal. It took 15 minutes before I had to flag a waiter down so we could order, 35 minutes for our food to come out (there were only 2 of us). Drinks were warm because there wasn't enough ice in them. very unsure of the rating this place gets. I ordered Caldo De Res which was tasty but definitely not fresh. the broth is generally clear. This was more of stewed vegetables which had broken down from the braising too long. The meat wasn't very high quality and had to have been overboiled when cooking in an attempt to tenderize and soften which resulted in a major loss of flavor. also ordered was a Carnitas burrito. the meat was chopped something and no flavor was discernible, stay with Wawa or Taco Bell, this is one which can be passed on. read more

Food is amazing, first time there had a mango jarrito and tampiquña Oaxaqueña with grilled chicken. The sope was my favorite part it was delicious! My friend got the steak nachos...out of this world. The Shrimp Caserole, Camarones A La Diabla, was served in a huge platter. It had a mild spice, the rice and beans were cooked and tasted well, and the shrimp and vegetables were excellent. The Camarones Fajitas was outstanding. The same serving was given for the rice and beans. The fajitas were small, soft, and hot.
