Came here to grab some pies! I have never visited this location before so when I walked in wasn't sure where to go or what to expect. I made my way to the back of the restaurant where the food seemed to be located. No one greeted me for a few mins as I stood there looking at the menu and pies. Finally someone came over and asked if I need help. I went with the lemon meringue pie and the pecan pie and both weee absolutely amazing delicious and to die for!! I got them to go as I was planning to eat them at home. They put the lemon meringue in a box so it didn't get squished, and the pecan was wrapped in plastic wrap. This place uses a lot of single use plastic which was a bit disappointing but that will change surely soon. The plates that the pies come on are plastic, the utensils are plastic and the Saran Wrap is plastic. I felt a little bad throwing all that plastic away after eating my pie. But irregardless the pies were good and I will definitely go back and try some more! This is also a great lunch spot as they have a good selection of soup and sandwich. read more

I have nothing bad to say about Fifendekel. I have been to every location in the city, and it's my favourite place for a sandwich. Sometimes I venture out of my comfort zone, but more often than not I get a turkey sandwich on brown bread. The ingredients are fresh and the staff are friendly. What more could you ask for? They kept the line up very organized during Covid restrictions. I always get a buttertart to go with my lunch, but I've tried various pies as well. I've enjoyed everything I've tried! I've also used them for catering in the past and they are always on time and orders are accurate. This location is the closest to my work now. It's a little further away than I'd like, but I happily make the drive :) read more

Stopped here to get some snacks for a road trip (my bf is celiac) It's a cute little place and very clean. Never been here before, but my BF went often because of the gluten free options. My sandwich was really good. Their pastries looked amazing as well. When we were in there, I felt like we were being rushed by the staff. The one making our sandwich's wasn't the most friendly. This is a place to meet a friend or group of friends. It's large enough that there are lots of tables except maybe weekdays at noon. Coffee refills are free (you get your own from the coffee station). They have healthy sandwiches made while you watch. The real thing that makes Fifendekel stand out is the pie selection. They are made on-site. They sell by the slice or a whole pie. Saskatoon pies are my favourite but they are all good. There is nothing trendy here, just time proven basics and wonderful pie. A lot of people I know have heard about Fife'n'Dekel and have been at least once or tried their food from an event catered by them. This is the first time I've been to this location, although the first location is not that far away (I've been to the first location a couple of times myself). There's a lot more parking spaces here than the other location, plus it is brighter, cleaner, more spacious & newer inside. It has a modern industrial atmosphere, is open early, but closes earlier too. The back bench area also has outlets on the base as well which is handy if you need to be plugged in. It's pretty quiet inside & not busy in the mornings. Perfect for a relaxed start to your day. Food options are cheap & healthier than the nearby McDonald's. Sandwiches are made in front of you with the fresh ingredients displayed through the glass panel. Strangely, I didn't see strawberry pie or whole pies even though it's proudly advertised. They did have a lot of pie slices available though. And they have day old pies for discounted prices beside the cashier. Staff were amazingly friendly, even brought my order when it was finished to my table while I was setting my baby in a high chair (they also have booster seats as well). For just over $10, I had a breakfast sandwich, a drink & dessert. I probably should've taken the dessert to go because I left super full after, so in all, I'd say there's good value for my money. read more

Oh no! I stopped here for lunch on the way to work. I was pretty disappointed from the set up and food there. Most my reviews are super happy so I feel bad writing this one. The sandwich area which takes up most the space didnt have that many options... I dont want mayo! How about hummus or avocado????? It was an average sandwich at a high price $.90 for A slice of cheese. I also got the leek and potato soup, gross watered down heavy cream, not much flavor I didnt even eat more then a few bites. Popped in for a piece of lemon cream pie. The pie was good, the service was gruff, the coffee was tepid and old, and who wants to eat pie with a plastic fork? When I advised the staff person that I had emptied the coffee urn, so that she was aware, I quickly wished I had not. The entire reply I got was "I'm not making anymore at this time". I wasn't asking for more, just trying to be helpful. By the way, this was at 3 PM, one hour before they close. Again the pie was good, but not good enough to make me run back anytime soon. read more

I love how all their breads (white, whole wheat, multigrain, light and dark rye) are baked fresh daily, and I'm pretty sure the have the biggest smelection of types of veggies you can have piled up on your sandwich- the usual subway veges? Yup. Alfalfa? Yup. Round it out with a hearty soup, beef stew (with freshly baked plain or cheese scone) or refreshing salad, and if you have space, dig into a slice of their seasonal pies. We were full after having a sandwich each(egg salad for him and Montreal smoked meat for me) and sharing a beef stew so well have to do the pies justice the next time we're back. Lunch please! I was in the area and was looking for a spot to stop for lunch. This was the perfect spot, plus they have ALL THE PIE. so how could you say no? Speaking about pie, they have a monthly pie special which you can see on the sign as you drive by. When I went it happened to be strawberry rhubarb pie, which did not disappoint! For lunch, the have a variety of sandwiches, but the best part is that you can have all the toppings! This makes the sandwich rather large, so I shared it. The egg sandwich is quite scrumptious. I actually checked into the wrong location, thinking they had mistakenly put a different (but closeby) address, but lo-and-behold, this one's new! I've likely been living under a rock for quite some time to have never really heard of Fife N' Dekel, but I am SO glad to be out and have lost my FN'D virginity. What a welcome addition to 34th Avenue, where your options for lunch are mostly limited to fast food, asian cuisine or hole-in-the-wall sports bars with average pub fare. From what I understand talking to the ladies at the counter, the other location is consistently packed at lunchtime, so opening a second location in the area was a no-brainer. And no kidding - this is the place to be! It's busier than the Tim Horton's at lunch time, but the line moves like a well-oiled machine and the food is a million times better. A freshly-made sandwich, hearty soup and delicious slice of pie, all for a very reasonable price. There's plenty of space in the dining room, but they also make it easy for you to take your meal away. For how frequently I'm shuttling around between stores for work, I'll be glad to never have to search for a decent place to eat down on Auto Row again! read more

I am not sure if this is the location we ordered from but I would be hesitant to get catering from here again. We ordered quite a large order, they were an hour early and the delivery girl was far from nice and polite. A heads up that they were coming would have been nice as there was no one there to receive the order and she was clear she had other places to be. Solid place for soups and sandwiches! The pies on display are delicious looking, but I never make it that far! Usually the soup and sandwich does it for me. Took my picky parents there, and even they enjoyed it! WIN! It's clean, quick and to the point. I'll go there again, for sure! I've been to the other location and loved it there, this location looks new and less homely. It had a modern cafeteria look very clean and classy. My friend and I walked into a very quiet restaurant which was great! The ingredients looked fresh and ready, the server behind the counter was attentive and fast. Great staff seriously. We both decided on the chicken salad sandwich but I had dark rye and my friend had multigrain. I like seeing the freshness of the veggies being put on my sandwich it makes me feel better that I have insight of how my foods getting made (just like sushi bars). They also had an assortment of salads, soups and desserts but I think we wanted just a light lunch so we just ended with the sandwich and sparkling water. The sandwich tasted great! I like how they put raisins in with the chicken salad it give it a sweeter taste. The place was kept very clean by the staff and by the time we left it started getting really busy. The woman at the register made us feel like idiots, was terribly rude and got annoyed with me for trying to order and then was annoyed with my Mum for taking "too long" with the debit machine. Super yummy for lunch time or dessert! One thing to keep in mind for vegetarians is the pies are made with pig lard. The service is quick sometimes too quick as they don't give you enough time to think your choices through. It's nice that water is supplied to the side for help your self. read more

I saw Fifendekel as I was passing and I was hungry, so I decided to stop and check them out. They bill themselves as a pie shop with a cafe attached and I was excited to try one out. The interior is a cafeteria style, with a large seating area and a staircase at the back offering a slightly more private area to eat. Their advertising says "Fifendekel Pies - We're famous for our pies!" and "...all of our pies are made with only the finest fruits and fresh dairy products." Oh yeah...I could really go for an awesome piece of pie. When I sidled up to the counter, and saw the prices ($3-4/slice; $15-$17), I thought, these better be as good as Vi's. My heart sank when I saw the lady behind the counter shoveling premade cherry pie filling from a big white bucket and noticed the dozen buckets behind her. Ugh. What was all this about fresh fruit pie? I reread, the oh so deceptive, sign in front of me "...all of our pies are made with only the finest fruits and fresh dairy products." Okay, I initially read that as "finest fresh fruit", but it's the dairy that fresh, the fruit is just the finest, which is a descriptor that essentially means nothing. Perhaps it's the finest premade corn syrup enhanced cherry pie filling. Perhaps. But I'd bet that it's a bucket of Sunspun cherry pie filling. I have hand made my own pies, with fresh fruit, or in the case of pumpkin, fresh gourds. I've also used the premade filling from a can. Although my kids only care when the pie is coming out of the oven, I can taste the difference. If I'm paying $3-4/slice, perhaps I'd want it made with fresh fruit. Despite my bias, I wanted to at least give them a chance, so I picked up a pecan pie slice. So, expecting a miss on the pie, I decided to order a sandwich (~$6). I grabbed a chicken salad with some green peppers, cucumbers, and havarti cheese, on sunflower bread, with the sandwich comes a soup or salad. Clam chowder was one of the two and it's one of my favorites, so that was chosen. After paying, I launched into the sandwich. It was pretty big and pretty good. The soup was okay, but very watery. Some decent chunks of clam, but mostly potato. The pie....sucked...yep, I was right. In fact, it was baked too long. The crust was just past perfectly done into the over browned, but not over done. If it wasn't for the sandwich, this would be a 1 star rating. I would actually come back for one of those, but probably opt for a salad. Sandwich and salad for about $6 is pretty good. read more

I took my family for pie and coffee this afternoon. We were treated as if we were a complete bother to the staff. They seemed to have other things important to do other than serve us sandwiches and pie. If this had been the first time I was treated this way in the south side location I would have written this experience off as a bad day. However, my mistake, I have been treated this way there before. With so many lovely places to eat in Edmonton I won't return here again. I heard of Fife N Dekel recently from someone else claiming their pies were excellent. Located in the same plaza as McDonalds, the pie cafe is bright and cheerful and has lots of seating. It's has a cafeteria/deli feel where they make fresh sandwiches in front of you and at the end you can choose the kind of pie you want. They have a good variety of pies in their window although they look less attractive pre-sliced, sitting on styrofoam plates. I only had a slice a pecan pie for $3.95. It was quite delicious. You can pre-order pies (24 hrs notice) especially if you want a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. read more

I drive by this cafe very often and very often I stop by to have my lunch. I like soups and sandwiches in general, so food that they offer works for me. I would like to mention that right from the first day I noticed that customer service there is terrible. Especially the blonde lady with short hair that runs the till is always unhappy, unfriendly. I have never seen a smile on her face, but I was just ignoring that until I had this terrible experience. My 5 year old son doesn't like the type of food that this cafe offers. I have an extremely hard time to make him to choose anything there. This one time I decided to get for him some chicken fingers at Wendy's, so my mom and I can have a meal in this cafe. We came in and were in the process of ordering when the same blonde lady with short hair aggressively verbally attacked me from behind and with angry face said that I can stay today but next time I am not allowed to come with food from outside. I understand that restaurants have rules, but the way she spoke to me was very aggressive and besides it was in front of my son. It wasn't even food for me, but to feed my boy. At that moment I completely lost my appetite and called for a manager. When the manager came out I explained her all situation, I said that I spend in this cafe large amounts on a regular basis and I politely asked for exception to the rules for my son. She asked for my phone number and said that she needs to call to the head office and find out what they think about it. Later I found out that this manager is actually the owner and she has power to make these decisions. I am assuming that she lied to me. And of coarse she never called me. I learned from this situation that the owner absolutely doesn't care about customers. Even though I come to this place probably twice a week and usually with my mom or my husband and spend a lot of money she doesn't value it. And of coarse by keeping employees like that blonde lady she shows her disrespect to her customers. I will not be back. read more

Always have amazing food, fresh and homemade. I go out of my way to go there on a regular basis. Highly rec the Pecan pie and the beef stew. The servers are so friendly, and even remember your order after a while. Nothing but great things to say about this place 10/10 read more
