Mount Dora Burger 8/10 Very Rich and Heavy but delicious
    Whisper W.

Another unique eatery in Mount Dora! It's a converted gas station where you sit out in the old pump area. The food was really good. My husband was not convinced that the fish wasn't frozen fish but it tasted good. The Mount Dora burger is so good but very heavy - definitely shareable. I liked their side of coleslaw and potato salad too. Beer was nice and cold. Definitely glad we stopped in for the experience but we will try some where else if we're in the area again.

The Crabbie Burger was delicious and exactly the kind of flavor you hope to find in Florida. The onion ring portion was perfect, and the fried goat cheese on my burger was tasty, although it was a little too hot when I first bit into it. Our waitress was super nice and extremely attentive, which made the experience even better. I just wish the chairs were more comfortable and the bathroom was in better shape. Other than that, I highly recommend this place for the food and flavor, just not necessarily for the setting.

Had lunch here today! Prices were a bit high; $11 for a hot dog seems a bit much. The menu is American with your typical burgers, salads, and sandwiches. They make their dressing in-house, and everything we had was good. I wasn't a fan of my fish sandwich coming on what looked like a hot dog bun. They also have a board up with daily specials, and it's outside seating only. Service was great!

Anytime of the year is the perfect time to try this spot out! They only have outdoor dining but you can see by the fire lamps and fans that they do use all effort to make your experience comfortable! The server we had (I feel bad I don't remember her name) was the absolute sweetest and made sure to take great care of my friend and I :) I had the Asian shrimp tacos which were good, while my friend had the California chicken which she enjoyed as well! The portions were large and felt well worth the price point, which was reasonable as well. Definitely a great little spot to check out!

5-Star Review for Fifth Avenue Streatery (Mount Dora) Title: Charming Converted Gas Station Spot - Perfect Family Find with Amazing Burgers and Desserts! Rating: 5/5 Review Body: We stumbled upon Fifth Avenue Streatery in Mount Dora today while in town for business - got hungry and looked up something local and simple, and boy, are we glad we did! This place is so unique; it looks like it used to be a gas station transformed into a cozy outdoor eatery with all seating under cover, string lights, fans, and heaters for comfort. It's got that authentic, laid-back Florida vibe with wooden decks, umbrellas, and views of the street - super charming and not stuffy at all. The menu is a great mix of unique twists and classic favorites, with plenty of options so everyone can find something. We went with build-your-own burgers and their signature Fifth Avenue burger - absolutely delicious, juicy, and flavorful! It's now my top burger pick (besides the ones my husband grills at home, of course). Everything's made from scratch, and big compliments to the chef/owner - a talented woman running the show, girl power all the way! We were there with our 7-year-old daughter, who's been to all sorts of fancy places, and she absolutely loved it - from the fun outdoor setup to her kid-sized burger. The hostesses, Hailey and Beth, were the sweetest, so friendly and welcoming, making us all feel right at home like family. Don't skip the desserts - we tried the flourless chocolate torte with fresh cream and raspberry sauce, and it was heavenly, rich but not too heavy. Overall, fresh food, great service, and a spot that's perfect for families. We'll be back next time we're in Mount Dora!

We had an average-good experience at this eatery for the first time. I had the Monday special, which was the fried chicken and it was a really nice sized portion. My wife had the tacos, which were by her standard pretty good. We will definitely be back to give it another try in the future. Service was a bit stretched due to the limited servers and staff.

What a nicely eclectic spot. Quaint. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast here. Between the enviable cooling mist setup and fans, our experience was quite pleasant; even on a hot summer Sunday - I know a lot of places that could/should take a lesson. I'd say, well executed breakfast foods with superlative hospitality made for an enjoyable experience we'll not soon forget. That hash! Whoa!!! Easy to see why they get so busy.

The Mount Dora Hurger w/ Fries - excellent!

Big shout-out to the lovely Rhiley - a friendly, competent server who deserves to be recognized as much as the delicious food here. The Mount Dora Burger is absolutely the way to go! I am a sucker for goat cheese and this big, beautiful burger has a lovely medallion right on top. Served with fries, this is one of the best burgers I've had in years. The only thing better was the DELICIOUS flourless chocolate cake - wow! With a raspberry puree and a bit of creme fraiche, I dare you not finish it...in SECONDS. Great first visit - thank you!

Great burgers and sandwiches here! The potato salad was great as well. We had great service at 5th ave streatery, it is outdoor seating only but they do have covered seating. Great place to eat at on a day with good weather. Everything was very clean for being outside. There were a lot of fried items on the menu, we tried the jalepenos and I wasn't a huge fan of that but the pimento cheese in it was good.

First timers and to be honest I wasn't sure how it would go. The food was really tasty. The wife had the special "Chicken Pot Pie" and I opted for the Italian sausage with fried. Both were excellent but I couldn't finish all the fries Service was excellent and everything seating wise was outdoors. So the ambiance was very nice on a dry and sunny day but not sure about bad weather

The weather was perfect outside when we went. I love the fact that it's an old gas station converted to a restaurant. There is no inside seating in case that's a deal breaker for you. The staff was very friendly. I for to take pictures of everything but did get some things. The fried deviled eggs were just ok, not bad, not great. The fried green tomatoes were ok as well, but the dipping sauce was sooo freaking good. The onion rings with cheese sauce were really good. I got a side salad with my Mediterranean steak and it came with house made lemon Greek vinaigrette and it was absolutely delicious. My steak was good as well, didn't love the veggies that came with it. I'd give it another try, next time for breakfast!

5 stars for a substantial mahi mahi sandwich with fries for only $14! The portion size is so great and perfect to share. It comes on a long baguette, red onion and lettuce. We ordered it blackened but you can also get grilled or fried. Service was super fast, we ordered and received it within 10 minutes. The fish was perfectly flakey and fresh. Fries were super hot and seemed like they were made to order, not sitting around.. The sitting area is all outside but you can choose where you'd like to sit. They have fans going to keep everyone cool. Great place for a quick bite, good food and great prices!

The Mount Dora Burger was absolutely delicious! Don't judge a book by its cover: this place is an old gas station turned into an outdoor restaurant. The service was friendly, as you'll typically encounter in Mount Dora. Must try the potato salad!

Now the sides were not very good either the collard greens were super vinegary. The mac & cheese had so much oil on top of it that I decided to pass. The brisket chili was pretty good, but I'm not coming back for it. I'm still looking for a good barbecue place in Mount Dora, but this isn't it.

Been to the Sparks, NV end of year championship rib comp and believe the ribs could compete. The sides (mac & cheese and potato salad) were delicious as well. Nice and cheesy mac and potato salad with just the right amount of vinegar to compliment the ribs. The 3 star rating is because the portions are very small. Got two bones and a small section of rib end. The sides were not much better size wise. If you look at their wall poster, the rib plater has what appears to be 5 ribs. I got two. Still $18 but with half the food advertised. Didn't realize the discrepancy until I was done and on my way out and noticed the poster. Went to their web site prior to posting my review and sure enough, 5 ribs! Good food but no value for the money. Maybe should have tried the bakery for a sandwich. Won't be going back.

Everything felt just like I remembered: great food, friendly staff, and that warm, welcoming atmosphere. The only thing missing was my mom. In her honor, I ordered the fried chicken again. So, a little threadbare never killed anybody. My first Sunday brunch here was pleasant (though I'm hesitant to pay about $25 for breakfast anywhere these days). I made my reservation online easily enough. Breakfast here finishes at 10a and then brunch service begins at 11a. Justin was super friendly when I arrived and I was seated and had already placed my Grand Slam order with OJ by 11:05a. That's pretty dang good. My server, Lisa, was very charming and - when I asked - she seemed to know quite a bit about the restaurant and hotel. The coral dining room is where I ate, they do not take reservations for sitting at the outdoor tables. The Grand Slam comes with eggs, your choice of bacon or sausage (patties), and potatoes or grits, with 4 small pancakes. The sausage and pancakes were very good, the potatoes well-seasoned, but the scrambled eggs left a lot to be desired. I would order fried eggs if you're looking for something fresher. The juice was delicious (no pulp), but $4 for one glass is just crazy. The water, I will say, was actually good - which pleasantly surprised me. You always want the water at a restaurant to be good - that's what they cook the food in. If not the Grand Slam, I'd bet the Belgian Waffle is a solid bet. I just can't get over how expensive breakfast, brunch, and lunch are these days. The Grand Slam came out to $18 but you DO get a very good portion of food for your money.

If you don't know what SOS stands for, look it up... it's a great breakfast item. The SOS is not the same as the biscuits and sausage gravy because that is sausage gravy, the SOS has chipped beef in gravy and usually will come on toast, but I prefer it with the biscuits.
