Charming aesthetic here in historic Downtown Mount Dora...

Different...and divine. I remember when, years ago, this location boasted a seafood restaurant. LSD is certainly an improvement - an attractive dining space featuring excellent food made fresh and served quickly. That mushroom soup (available in either a cup or bowl) is what I will return for in the cooler temps - soothing and tasty! And I have managed to find my new favorite salad (arugala, fresh berries, pears, goat cheese, and onion). Perfectly refreshing and more perfect at the end of Summer. Paired with my favorite red wine (Sangue di Giuda), I thoroughly enjoyed lunch today. And shout out to my server, who was really hustling to take care of everyone while clearing tables while seating the next patron. I highly recommend bringing friends and family to visit and savor. Little Something Different makes the best possible impression. Bravo!

After four years of searching for a restaurant that could match the creativity and soul of the places I loved back in Miami, I finally found it -- Little Something Different. I brought my mom and grandma here for Mother's Day, and from the moment we stepped inside, I knew we were in for something DIFFERENT. Little Something Different lives up to its name in every way. It's rare to find a place that surprises and comforts you at the same time -- where the food, the vibe, and the people all come together to create something magical. I will def be back.

Excellent food service drinks and ambiance. Mushroom soup and New England chowder were as excellent as advertised. Salmon was perfectly cooked with excellent sauce and flavor. Kids bacon Mac and cheese equally stellar. Must stop in if you are in town.

Charcuterie board was delicious, and the salmon w potato was so tasty & filling. Waiter was super nice too.

A recent visit to Mount Dora on a Monday discovered that many shops and restaurants are closed. Fortunately for us a window shopping excursion introduced us to 2 local diners who were on their 3rd visit to this month old restaurant. Their food viewed through the window looked great. They motioned it was equally delicious. There is nothing better than a "live" word of mouth endorsement. Our selections included a crisp and tasty house salad and a delicious Caesar salad. Main course of pulled pork with creamy homemade mac and cheese, coleslaw with cornbread as well as an order of the Drunken Scotsman consisting of sliced rope sausage on a bed of cheesy mashed potatoes. Portions are large. Unfortunately our haste to taste our food detoured our main course photo effort. Server Leslie made us feel welcome with her terrific service. We've been fortunate to find great dining choices recently and today was no different but simply a "Little Something Different ". Certainly a great option for food in Mount Dora. We will be back!

We couldn't help ourselves but took a bite first. Quite tasty.

A quaint little town northwest of Orlando…read more There's shopping, some nice little restaurants, and a big ol' lake that you can rent a catboat on and drive it around. That's what we did that morning. Ambiance was great. It felt like each little dining area was a different room in a big, semi-haunted mansion. Eclectic books and paintings and mirrors and other baubles adorned much of the walls, making for plenty of looking around time during you meal. Very fun. Service was really good. The pacing of the meal was great, and our server was very friendly. We were always with drink, and she knew the menu backwards and forwards, even the special dishes of the night. As for the food, we went whole hog with two apps, two mains, and a dessert to share. Out of everything we ordered, only one of them remains on the current menu, which is a great sign. I love a rotating, seasonal menu. It shows effort, and it definitely encourages return patronage. We started with the Ciabatta Board (toasted ciabatta, house butter made with sun dried tomato, roasted red pepper, parmesan, garlic, chive). This was nice. It was very sun dried tomato, so if you don't like them, don't get this. But very soft, toasty bread made this very lovely. We also got an escargot app which was very creamy and soup-like. The snails were complimented well by the spinach. And the whole thing came with a nice little breadstick. I saved some of the bread from the board for some sopping. Pro move. For our mains, we got a miso butter New York strip and some sort of Asian themed duck. For both mains, the proteins were cooked very very well, and the portion sizes were a good size compared to what I was expecting. Both sets of taters were good. The mash was very smooth and creamy, the roasted baby potatoes were cooked all the way through and were nice and naturally buttery. Both were served with a seasonal veg mix that was pretty ok. It rounded out the plate, but it won't change your world or anything. We finished off with one of the best slices of cheesecake I've ever had. Incredibly smooth with the perfect cheesecake density, the perfect amount of chocolate chips inside, and a nice little crust that added that little bit of texture that is needed from the crust. Overall, quite a meal! To survive in a small town with these prices and those quality ingredientes and that unique of a menu design is very impressive. I will certainly be back.

Our server was really nice, made good recommendations, and the food was paced absolutely perfectly. The food itself was the best part. Crazy unique menu items that promised a lot and delivered a lot. Cons: Not a single con. A great little visit. Tips: The menu has completely changed since we went, which is good, so I can't recommend any specific dishes. But the ones I see on the menu now look absolutely banging.

That level of care is increasingly rare, and it deserves real credit. Where the experience faltered, unfortunately, was the food. The prefix menu included many dishes, but most missed the mark. They felt lackluster, missing the depth, seasoning, or execution that would match the charm of the service. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing stood out either. It's the kind of meal that leaves you wishing the kitchen's ambition matched the front‑of‑house enthusiasm. It may have been an off night, but there was only one other couple in the place on a Friday dinner service, so that may have been a sign up front.

Generous seating and calm, peaceful music make for a very intimate setting to enjoy with dinning companions. We started off with the Charcuterie platter. Beautifully prepared and served/explained by Chef John. This included an oven fresh baguette, served in its own delightful paper bag. For entrées we shared the Beef Bourguigon, and Ratatouille. Both were delicious. I have so much respect for Chef John. Operating a small high end restaurant in 2026, must be the toughest job around. From the competition around him, the high cost of quality specialty foods, rent, staff and providing experiences. You can feel the love in every bite. Go treat yourself to a wonderful dinning experience. A Votre Sante' Chef John.

Be bellied up the bar and a very friendly bartender welcomed us, knowing full well we were visitors to the community and nicely asking us where we were from. They have plenty of beers to choose from and I wanted to try something new. She knew her bar that's for sure! she provided a sample to try before ordering, which I ended up doing. My better half observed a slushie machine rotating in the background and inquired. It was a sangria concoction and after sampling it chose to order that. She really liked the slushie and on yet another hot Florida summer it was not only refreshing it tasted great. The prices were reasonable. We spent about a hour at the bar and afterwards meandered over to a nearby restaurant we had our minds set on. After having supper we returned to The Nest for a couple more drinks before the concert. The sangria slushie was wiped out, so the better half ordered an Amigos Pineapple THC Soda (alcoholic beverage FYI) from the main menu and enjoyed that. There was a changing of the guard and the new bartender was just as sweet and personable as the first one. We will gladly return on our next visit to Mount Dora.

The decor, the service, the food, the wine, all impeccable, fun, and quirky in the best way. The setup is very odd, seems like a wine bar you could find in a mall, but it's cute and endearing immediately upon entering. The nice woman inside the bar took my order quickly and politely ignored how awkward I am. I was asked if I was opting in to the wine tasting so OF COURSE I said yes, and was treated to a vast array of the best wines I've tasted in a long time, along with complimentary cheese and crackers. I got the antipasto plate which was prepared by a chef with a bedazzled headband the appeared to have wandered in looking for the Doobie Brothers concert, and while the antipasto wasn't anything crazy it was very well priced. The house cabernet was also a perfect dry red and well worth the price. My main was a muffeleta which was perfect. Warm and salty and every flavor shined through and paired perfectly with my dry wine. Everything about this place is warm and cozy. Even the ambient music is at the perfect volume; loud enough to break the silence, quiet enough to chitchat. This would be a wonderful place to bring a first date to make them think you're way more cultures than you really are. Great wine, great service, great ambiance, and great food. The room breathes. Conversation aerates. You settle in the way a good bottle opens up after a moment in the glass. The food has depth, the kind that suggests it's been allowed to develop properly. Nothing rushed. Nothing overworked. Homestyle dishes arrive layered and generous, as if they've been patiently aged rather than assembled. There's structure to the menu--comfort as the body, flavor as the finish--and it lingers in the best way. The service pours easy and steady. Attentive without overwhelming, like a thoughtful decant that lets everything open naturally. Recommendations come with care, never pretense. You feel guided, not sold to. And then there's the crowd--the true terroir of the place. Warm, grounded, unassuming. Neighbors, first dates, old friends--each table adding its own note to the atmosphere. This one feels like a good vintage--crafted with intention, allowed to mature, and shared generously. You don't just visit. You savor.
