Stopped at 50 West Brewing mid-day during a pub crawl for a friend's 60th birthday. We are somewhere around beer #34...but to be clear, that was via shared flights. We are responsible. We are basically athletes. Naturally, we arrived expecting more flights. Tiny glasses. Options. A tasting paddle to continue our scholarly research. They do not do flights. Reader, I was unprepared. Instead, we pivoted to full pours like grown adults and ordered burgers for stabilization purposes. The burgers? Excellent. Exactly what you want in the middle of a daytime crawl when you're trying to remember what number stop this is. Juicy, flavorful, no notes. We didn't stay long as this was a lunch stop. Four stars. The fries have a good crispiness to them! The burger was good. It was the one with apple butter. Kinda made it a little mushy. And I think it would have been better with chicken than beef but that was my mistake lol I would like to try their other burgers to really get a feel for them. We ate inside. It was cute! We booked two cabanas at Fifty West for a Friday night rehearsal dinner. As expected, the place was buzzing, it's clearly a popular spot on a nice evening, and on this particular night, there was also a graduation party happening. Between the regular crowd and the event, parking in the main lot was a challenge. Fortunately, there is additional parking available across the street, which helped ease the situation. The venue itself is a great setting for a casual gathering. There are plenty of picnic tables, sand volleyball courts, pickleball courts, and a turf area for kids to run around or for guests to relax. It's a fun, energetic environment that works well for groups. Our group started to arrive a bit later than our reserved time, but we were surprised to find people already sitting and dining in our cabanas. Since these had been pre-booked and prepped for our party, it was inconvenient to ask the group to leave and then find a staff member to come over and wipe down the tables. While we recognize that we were running a little behind, we expected the cabanas to be monitored and held for our reservation. A staff member should have been assigned to oversee the area and ensure it remained ready for us. On a more positive note, the food was great and everything was ready and waiting when we arrived. The drinks were also solid, and we especially loved the variety of shakes! The staff was very accommodating when it came to packing up leftovers, providing takeout containers for all the extras without hesitation, which we really appreciated. Despite the small hiccup with the cabana seating, the evening was a success overall. With a bit more attention to managing reserved spaces, it would've been flawless. We'd definitely consider coming back for another group event or a casual night out. read more

We visited for Cincy Burger Week. In my opinion, the food at the Burger Bar is nothing to write home about, but the environment/ vibes are worth the visit. I tried the Colorado burger with a veggie patty. The veggie burger is definitely just a frozen patty like I could get at Costco- not very good. And the burger was small and overpowered by the pickled jalapeños- hardly any other flavor came through. The burgers don't come with fries so it can add up but we enjoyed the burger week deal. We found the volleyball/ pickleball/ cornhole so fun to watch! We found seating and parking even though there were a couple private events going on and it was a busy Saturday night. The tables in the sand are fun to sit in and I can see how it would be fun to sit here with a few drinks. I stopped by with some time to kill and so happy for this decision. I review food and I will but the place is fantastic. Great for families. I have no clue where they got all that sand but it's like a beach vacation on the little Miami river. I've yet to try the burgers but I opted for their seasonal Oktoberfest beer brat. Everything about this place is awesome. The burgers were delicious. I loved the loaded fries the best. And we were pleasantly surprised with the Mac n cheese bites. Usually when those are on a menu we try them out and we're disappointed in the flavor, but these ones were excellent. The day we went was super busy, as the weather was awesome. We stopped here to hang out with friends while we were visiting Cincinnati and it was such an experience. When you walk in you see plenty of seating, sand, volleyball and people running around. They have some covered seating and then a bunch of tables spread out. It's perfect for hanging out with groups of people and very family friendly. They have two purchase areas, one for food and milkshakes and the other for beer. I think this helps keep things moving with so many people around. I'm sure this gets annoying sometimes when someone wants beer and food, but with it being such a big place I'm sure it streamlines the orders and helps get everything out to people quicker. We moved around a bit since our friends had kids so we spent some time at a picnic table by the ordering area and then moved into the sand later in the evening. There were so many dogs, kids, teens and adults around having fun. We ended up ordering some food and they had some good options where everyone can find something to enjoy. The crinkle cut fries were tasty and we also grabbed a chicken sandwich that disappeared way too quickly. I guess chasing around a bunch of kids works up an appetite. The beers were also tasty and they had a good variety of options. The parking was kind of a nightmare, but considering how busy it was it didn't take too terribly long to wait until someone else left to grab their spot. read more

Fifty West has a little something for everyone. We'll start with the burgers because this review is under the Burger Bar. They've got a fun little thing going where they have different names of burgers that are inspired by the states that the 50 route goes through. I asked for recommendations and heard that Kansas was the way to go with smokey bbq, cheese, coleslaw, bacon, and pickle. It was in fact very tasty. The fries serving size was also ample. The shakes looked very tempting, I'll have to try them another time. As for other activities, I have been ice skating here and done a pickleball league. Both very enjoyable. As others who have played pickleball here may know, the surface is not the best because a ball may randomly die if it hits certain spots. But I appreciate the option of a league. Sand volleyball is obviously very big here. This place is generally popping with people, great for large groups, LOTS of families. There are sure to be kids playing in the sand. Also, be prepared to be bitten by bugs, I got a handful of bug bites while in the sand area. They could use more parking, I generally have to park in the lot across the street. read more

We came here on a Friday evening around 6:00 and damn this place was packed. Parking was a little bit rough but if you wait around a little bit, you'll find something. The establishment is pretty cool because they have a lot to offer especially for those who have little ones. There's a pickleball court, cornhole, and sand volleyball. They came here to meet up with some friends and we all had some of their foods here. At first I thought the prices were actually not too bad but we were a little bit underwhelmed because the burgers were really small. My husband ordered one their burgers and he was still pretty hungry after and he mentioned that the Patty was a bit dry. I had their chili cheese fries and I thought they were pretty good but nothing too special. Our friends ordered burgers as well and they were also underwhelmed and still very hungry. My husband was also a little bit disappointed because they didn't really have any dark beers and I forgot what he had but one of their IPAs and it was just okay. I think this is a good spot to meet with other people who have kids but as far as the food, the food portions are probably for kids and really not adults lol. I have driven by the new set-up many times. I could see the lively environment with outdoor seating and sand Volleyball. When I ordered my double hamburger I expected a giant burger. My wife asked how big a single was and he said he didnt know but it was a good size. It wasnt much bigger then a Mcdonalds double. We both got the West Virginia style.  The burger tasted ok but to pay 12.50 for a double or 7.50 for a single burger that was served in cardboard like you would get at Sonic won't happen again.  Couldn't find the apple butter or carmelized onions. The bacon was fatty and needed lettuce and tomato. Yes you disguise options under many state named options.  Cute but not enjoyable.   My wife wanted mustard but wasn't available. We also ordered the loaded fries; a concoction of undercooked soggy fries with jalapeños and beer cheese. I thought it was Velveeta or some cheese wiz.   50 West is geared toward thirtysomethings dragging along little kids or babies or dogs.  If you want to play Volleyball you must book in advance. They have leagues.  Come and play cornhole or have a beer but no slushie since the machine was broken.  Have your kid bring a pail and put them in the sandbox.  Great idea! Plenty of tables and soft artificial grass to enjoy your choice of beverage or homemade beer or cider. You can also get a rootbeer float or milkshake.  This place needs salads and other options besides wings, hot dogs, plant burgers or chicken patties. read more

Love the retro vibe here. There's so many activities and spaces here, something for everyone. Volleyball, cornhole, sand and turf seats, burgers and shakes, beers and sun! Plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas, great for a low key afternoon outing. Dogs allowed. Burgers are on the small side, unless you get the black bean burger in which case is much bigger than the bun. Many styles to choose from as far as topping combinations, decent fries but I'd prefer mine crispier. Delicious vanilla milkshakes. Staff is friendly although there was some miscommunication about the closing time, we were asked to leave but turns out they were actually open for another hour. The beer list is on a letter board and doesn't give a description of what you're getting, so I asked a lot of questions! And I wish they didn't serve in plastic cups. The Fifty West Burger Bar has been our go-to spot recently. It's a genius concept, especially during the pandemic. They have repurposed their sand volleyball courts to create socially distanced outdoor dining opportunities. This gives families with kids a great option so they kids can play in the sand while waiting for food orders, or for mom and dad to finish a bonus beer before departing. The burger bar is a pretty simple concept. First select the burger, single house-ground patty for $6 or a double for $10. They also have beyond burgers for $9, organic grilled chicken for $7, or even a flat top beef hotdog for $4.50. From there you pick your style, ranging in price from free for the classic up to $2 extra for the Missouri or the Utah. All styles are names after states along U.S. Route 50 and feature flavors from each state. On our first visit, I tried the Nevada with chicken ($8) which adds buffalo bleu cheese sauce, crispy onion straws, and pickle. My wife had the Kansas with chicken ($8.50) with smokey bbq, American cheese, bacon, coleslaw, and pickle. Both were great and on other visits, we have also enjoyed the Colorado with spicy green chile salsa, ghost pepper jack cheese, and jalapeno as well as the West Virginia with apple butter, American cheese, bacon, and carmelized onion. Crinkle cut fries are served on the side ($2.50) and a side of their fry sauce can be added for 50 cents. Trust me and just go ahead and order the fry sauce! There is a kids menu ($5 each) with a burger, chicken sandwich, flattop dog, or chicken tenders. Our daughter also enjoyed the pita plate ($8) which has pita bread, carrots, celery, cucumber served with hummus, guacamole, and fresh corn salad. And she also loves their shakes (kids for $4, regular for $5). My Mr. and I came here almost a year ago for a Yelp event and really enjoyed it! We knew we were going to come back. We dined in a Saturday afternoon for lunch. They changed a few things around. They added their signature Fry sauce and they used to serve tater tots, now it's crinkle fries. So Fifty west burger bar is definitely unique. Their hamburgers are named after states route 50 is on. They have specialty burgers made with a great combo ingredients. You can get either single or double burgers. Not feeling burger and want a hot dog instead? For vegetarians, you can substitute for a black bean burger. Watching your weight? You can sub the bun for lettuce. Menu also includes appetizers. Pita plate and wings. So there something for everyone. Sometimes they have specials. It's Easy to order. You can order either inside (dine in inside is available) or at the beer garden in the back. You give them your name and they text you when it's ready. If you want to pair your meal with a beer, it's separate. I got the Maryland single burger with no tomatoes extra pickles, a side of crinkle fries with their fry sauce ($.50 extra) and my Mr got the Indiana Hot dog with a side of crinkle fries and the fry sauce. We wash it down with a beer. I got the Kit car Kolsch and my Mr got the nowhere road hazy IPA. Not even 15 minutes and our food was ready. We decided to eat outside since it was a nice day. The food was amazing. My burger had tarter sauce and it was cooked to perfection. The fry sauce was a bit sweet complimented well with the burgers. Sweet and salty combo is always the best! My Mr tore his meal up. I'll have to say this is one of favorite burger joint in the Cincy area. Besides food and beer, they have a beer garden in the back. They have activities you can partake. Very disappointed in venue for a special birthday. After making the initial deposit months before the party I couldn't get anyone to work with me in regards to finalizing the menu and head count. They promised to have the tap room cleared put early in order to decorate and that didn't happen. They advertise the tap room for rental but a third is occupied with skids of beer which limits floor space. They don't show that in their advertising. I asked if that would be removed before the party and they told me they have no control over what the brewery does with the beer. Absolutely no parking!! Not feeling like beef? Substitute chicken or a black bean burger. More of a hot dog fan? Get a flat-iron dog. They also have epic crinkle fries, wings, shakes, floats, and more. Want a tasty brew? Hop to the beer bar. Seating is very plentiful, with lots of spots inside and outside at the beer garden. My lady ordered the Maryland single burger (no tomato and extra pickles), a side of crinkle fries, and some Fry Sauce. I went for the Indiana hot dog, crinkle fries, and fry sauce. Of course we got a couple brews, a Kit Car Kolsch for her and a Nowhere Road hazy IPA for me. We sat outside in the beer garden, and in about ten minutes, our order was all ready for pickup. Was it good? You know it! My lady really enjoyed her burger and I definitely enjoyed my hot dog. The Fry Sauce went perfectly with the fries, providing just the right sweetness to contrast the saltiness. Our brews paired with it all very well too. Fifty West in general does so many things so right, not just their delicious brews, and the Burger Bar is a great example. With all their campus has to offer, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to build a hotel/day spa somewhere. If they did, would I go? Absolutely! read more

Hit the Toast app and then hit up the 50W Burger Bar. This is a $6 Burger, and it delivers. It is not gourmet, but it's a decent burger. Fries are crinkled, and there are many variations of the burger if you go through the Toast app. This is a Covid19 review, so things might be different afterwards, but this is a great place to get a burger and fries, as long as you don't mind getting Fry Sauce on your jeans, eating in your Re-Reviewed: gotta Knock 'em back a star. I've been a few times now, and for some unknown reason, they place their burgers inside the bag vertically. WHY?!?!? Why would you make a burger you pride with representing 10 different topping styles and stick them in the bag on their side where all the toppings slide off/go lopsided?!?! It is apparently "their thing" as I've been there a number of times now. MAYBE if they tightly wrapped the burgers, this MIGHT be tolerable, but in the little paper cups they place their burgers in, they just fall apart and skip to one side. I'm giving the place 3 stars ONLY for the vibe. We arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon. (Party of 3). We ordered our food at the window. This part was neat: pick your protein such as a burger, grilled or fried chicken and then choose your style. Each style is named for a state. I ordered a burger Virginia style which included thinly sliced ham, pimento cheese and pickles. Hubby ordered a burger Colorado style with jalapeño cheese and peppers. He gave them our phone number, we were told we would be texted when the food was ready and it should not be more than 10 minutes. Great. Hubby and I ordered a beer each. Not a large selection truly. Plenty of IPAs and sours but no dark beers. We each ordered a lager which was good. Our daughter ended up with a fruit seltzer in a can. Here's the PSA portion of this review: double check the can before you order. They had some kinds of seltzer drinks with THC in them. My daughter takes medication and this could have been bad if the bartender hadn't given us a heads up!! We proceeded outside to a picnic table. They have lots of tables in the shade. This place is extremely family and dog friendly. No dogs allowed inside but there are outside windows where you could order as well. Our daughter (an adult with cognitive disabilities) met lots of dogs which made her happy. Now for the reason that this place earns a reluctant 3 stars: we sat outside chatting and waited for a text saying our food was ready. And waited. And waited. I sent hubby to check and lo and behold, our food was waiting. We sent you a text, it just came out. Nope. The food was tasty, but lukewarm at best and quickly turned cold. I would like to say more but honestly, that's it. We were starving after being out all day. We wanted to speak to a manager on the way out, but looking around at the staff, no one looked over age 18 and we figured it would be pointless. Would I go back for a beer? We haven't been to 50 West in years and have never been to their burger bar. Last night was a beautiful evening to enjoy a burger and beers on their outdoor patio. The Double Burger, ordered Classic style was pretty good. Not great but pretty good. The fries we ordered to share were hot and crisp. The fry sauce is just ok. My husband ordered the Flat Top Hot Dog - Ohio style. It had Cincinnati chili, mustard, onions and cheese. It smelled delicious and my husband said it was really tasty. He's been a fan of 50 West's beers and ordered a couple of beers that he thought were really good. It was really busy when we got there but lucked into a seat by the time our food was ready - about 30 minutes. It's a nice concept. Like a root-beer stand, bar, and playground rolled into one. There's pickle ball courts, sand volley ball courts, corn hole, tv's and a lot of seating. It's also dog and kid friendly. During our visit we saw several well behave dogs and saw many children running around, jumping off seating and flipping cartwheels through the crowd. While I likely wouldn't crave the burger - it's a lively place we can stop in for a beer. read more
