We sat outside and had a very attentive waiter who made sure we got everything we needed and would refill our drinks without us having to ask. It was very slow, which is surprising for a weekend, especially since everything we ordered was so amazing. We started off with the salad salad with the soft boiled eggs, and it would have been perfect, but I think it had a little bit too much dressing, so the lettuce was almost swimming in it. Enjoyed a wonderful date night meal with my boyfriend. We started with the bread service with truffle butter. Parker roll style, which were perfectly fluffy. When we arrived, they said both highchairs were in use so we had to sit the toddler on the bench between us. We had also promised the toddler pizza and were informed that due to the raw bar that evening, there was no pizza. Not a strong start. We ordered brioche which was delicious but very expensive - $21 for 6 rolls! Our apps of octopus and eggplant were well prepared and tasty. As one of our party is gluten free, the server talked with her about the gluten free pasta prepared daily and she enjoyed her rigatoni. Our other dishes of black spaghetti, agnolotti, and campanelle were all delicious as well. The toddler got a pasta dish with parmesan. We shared a lemon cake for dessert and the birthday boy got a free gelato. When I looked at my receipt the next day, I noticed that I'd been charged twice for the black spaghetti and went back to the restaurant to have this corrected. It took 3 days but I hope it's all correct now. Based on our experience, I would say that Fig is child-tolerant but not child-friendly. My family and I decided to go to Fig for a celebration dinner. I always forget how good it is and then remember when I taste the food. We drove up, parked in the garage and walked to the restaurant. My husband made a reservation in advance just in case but there wasn't a lot of people there. We went at around 6:45 on a Thursday night. The host kindly greeted us and then sat us at a table for 4 in the middle of the room next to other tables. At first I was a little bothered by this but because the restaurant wasn't crowded I was able to adjust. After a few minutes a friendly waitress came over and greeted us. She handed us some menus and took our drink order. I asked if there were any mocktails and she mentioned two. She then left and we looked at the menu. She came back shortly and then took our order. First I ordered a mocktail called the Paloma which has grapefruit, lime and something spicy. I tried it and thought it was a real drink. I didn't like it but people that prefer non alcoholic drinks that taste alcoholic would probably like it. I asked the waitress about it and she said that something that mimics a spirit was added. That explained the flavor. She recommended that I try the other mocktail. She said that it's more refreshing. She took away the Paloma and brought back a Garden Refresher. This mocktail has cucumber, lime, and a basil flavor. It was really good. I ordered several with my meal. The Food We started with a Spicy Italian Pizza, Crispy Potatoes, and some House Brioche Rolls. The Rolls were yummy. They were soft and fluffy. The truffle butter is what gives the bread flavor. It's a really good butter. The Crispy Potatoes were flavorful. They came with a salsa and aioli at the bottom. The Potatoes were crispy on the exterior and nice and hot in the center. The sauce at the bottom was good. The Pizza was good. It comes with Sausage and Mozzarella. It was a little spicy. I was surprised by the spice at first but I couldn't stop eating it. For my main dish I ordered the Hanger Steak cooked Medium. It comes with Confit Smoked Carrots. The Steak was Delicious . It was cooked perfectly. It was pink and tender. The Carrots were like eating a giant sweet potato. As a bonus my son ordered a Pork Roulade and he let me try it. It comes with tomatos and Peas. The Pork itself was tender and yummy. The Tomatoes and Sauce was flavorful. The Peas were a little bit hard in terms of texture. My son didn't like them but I didn't mind them. It was a flavorful dish. For Dessert we ordered two items. The Chocolate Ice Box Pie and the Brioche and Gelato. The Chocolate Ice Box Pie comes with peanut butter and chocolate with a raspberry swirl. It was like eating a giant candy bar. Incredible. We had the best time here. This place is a hidden gem and deserves way more than 5 stars. The food is so good, the menu felt unique, almost like an adventure, and you can tell real thought and creativity went into every dish. What a cute place to go for a happy hour. Located in near South Congress/South Lamar in a complex with FREE garage parking (yes you read that free garage parking in that area? Found a unicorn) this gem of Italian restaurant is a great place to enjoy happy hour and enjoy contemporary Italian (but not classic Italian) dishes. It has a gorgeous patio underneath a tree that would be a great place to bring your dog and is dog friendly. For happy hour we got the brioche with truffle butter which was DELICIOUS. Think of it as basically a big Hawaiian roll with a nice crust, a little flaky salt that is so fluffy when bitten into and eaten. The truffle butter with it was so good and thankfully the truffle butter had the right amount of truffle without being overwhelming. We also had the arancini which were HUGE and very earthy due to mushrooms but still delicious and thankfully even though fried it wasn't too heavy. We ended up not getting pasta from happy hour and got pasta from the main menu. I ended up getting ricotta gnocchi which comes with saffron butter, shiitake mushrooms, smoked hatch chilies, roasted corn, and Aleppo. The gnocchi was pretty fluffy and great texture and not gummy. The sauce was a little bit too acidic (aka very lemony) which I wasn't expecting for me so I feel like I didn't taste the hatch chiles at all nor Aleppo which is usually smoky. I think next time I will try a different pasta. Service was was great. Our server Brenda was very attentive and I appreciated that since we were there for birthday celebration we got strawberry shortcake brioche dessert on the house. My husband's birthday is usually a days-long celebration because he's a foodie and can't make up his mind on selecting one place. This was the third and final grand dinner for his special weekend. The crispy potatoes was the one dish we would skip - they were too thin, crispy and oily. For our entrees, we got the rigatoni with sausage and the vegetarian preparation of the Campanelle. I enjoyed the use of seasonal root vegetables such as beets and turnips in my pasta. I had to take most of it home for another meal because I was already quite full on the appetizers. Pretty unique flavors for Italian fare. A lot of their food is subtly wood smoked, which brings nice flavors into everything without being overpowering. Highlights are arancini (filled with mushrooms, served with two pleasant sauces, one I believe is sesame based - like a light tahini), and little gems salad which has a flavorful dressing and a soft-boiled egg. Granted we ate on a Monday night, which isn't a night that most people eat out. We started with the brioche rolls and mushroom arancini, which are two of their bestsellers and what everyone orders. I chose the rigatoni pasta. The appetizers were definitely miles better than the pasta, which was way too salty. The I did love the texture and other flavors of the rigatoni but please tell your chefs to fix their salt-o-meter! The pasta reminded me of other Italian places I've been to that seem to "try too hard" by putting too many ingredients or flavors into one dish. While the other pastas on the menu looked interesting, I'm worried that they would give me that type of feeling. It is a beautiful space with dimly lit romantic dining. My only complaint is that the tables are too close together which encroaches on the enjoyment of the meal. Is a bit on the expensive side, but it was very good. We also had the octopus for an appetizer. It was lightly tempura fried, which I have never experienced before with octopus, and it was super tender and delicious. Amazing combination of flavors. The Tortellini in Brodo was also outstanding. It was red wine, beef béchamel in a mushroom brodo with chives and parmesan. It looked like a small dish, probably only six or seven tortellini, but it was deceivingly filling if you've already had appetizers. We also shared the Mint Pappardelle with Lamb. It had caramelized fennel, spiced pistachios, a pickled veg and topped with a mint gremolata. Sounded amazing and the presentation was absolutely beautiful, but it had a slightly odd flavor that I could not put my finger on and that I did not care for. I love lamb and all of the ingredients in the dish. This just didn't hit the mark for me, but I can see how others may really enjoy it. Now for the dessert. Chef's kiss!! We had the chocolate icebox pie. It had a peanut butter pretzel crust with caramelized white chocolate gelato with a raspberry swirl. OMG was it good! My girlfriend and I had dinner and we enjoyed it! It was good and fresh! Service was kind as well

I had really high hopes based on all the great reviews, but ultimately we had a pretty underwhelming experience. The restaurant is beautiful, but was suspiciously almost empty at 7:30 on a Friday. Probably shoulda been a red flag. We started out with the Crudo. I enjoyed this dish, but my husband thought it was fishy. For our mains, he had the Cappelletti (pasta w. jamón, rabbit, mole), and I had the Bucatini (pasta w. sofrito and shellfish). These dishes couldn't have been more opposite in their execution. The Cappelletti was so intensely flavored, my husband couldn't taste anything at all by the time he finished. My Bucatini, on the other hand, was so bland, I had to ask for salt (and I'm generally hesitant to ask for salt in an upscale restaurant, I feel like it's insulting to the kitchen). Our server was knowledgeable about the wine list and generally helpful, but also just had a weird vibe like he would rather be doing anything else than serving. About half way through our dinner (but still more than an hour before closing) a lot of the restaurant staff, including front and back of house, started congregating around the bar socializing. The atmosphere is vibrant. The food is unique and delicious! Serviice is very high touch.
