Walked by a million times and finally stopped in. Was greeted at the host stand upon arrival and after providing my phone number was walked to the bar for a sate facing the kitchen. They weren't busy and there were two other parties at the bar, at any time. The staff were amazing, although names were never offered, and I didn't ask. They were attentive and helpful when deciding what to have for dinner. Ordered the Ricotta & Smoked Kale which I had agnolotti, butter, pistachio. And this was amazing, reminded me a lot of a place in NYC with fresh pasta that has just the right serving size. The sauce was very lemon forward, and I was shocked at first but after a few bites, it all came together. I was pretty sad when the dish ended. Dessert was next and I had to try their Tiramisu with mascarpone, marsala mousse, espresso, lady fingers, cinnamon chocolate streusel. And a scoop of the pistachio gelato. Zero complaints. I really enjoyed the crunchy bits with the Tiramisu...and it was very light and the pistachio gelato another winner. They offered a class of Cardamaro to accompany the gelato and I tried it before tasting the gelato...in the middle of eating gelato...and after. Sadly, not a fan, but glad I tried something new! The bar area was well kept and the ambiance nice and relaxed. Loved that they had hooks underneath every few seats as well. I inquired about the seats that overlook the kitchen to which I learned to ask for the Pizza counter seats, vs bar seats. Noted! They did offer if I wanted to move...but that was a no go, glass of wine was already poured. Next time.

Dec 11, 2025 review ----- We wernt there to celebrate our anniversary and made a dinner reservation in advance, almost 3-4 weeks ago. Place vibe is dark and fine dine. Seating option available for both indoor and outdoor. We were first seated indoors but then the live music was too loud so we requested to get seated outside and staff was able to accommodate without any hesitation. I liked sitting in patio as it was good lit up with fresh air and not too noisy so you can hear and talk to other person. I like that they have full vegetarian menu. I got lemonade to start with and roasted beets as appetizer. Quantity was definitely very very small but we got to taste red endives first time in our lives. Also the beet texture was super yum. Overall a good starter but quantity is not in proportion to the price. For the main course we got vegetarian pasta and margarita pizza. Vegetarian pasta had San marzano tomatoes, roasted red peppers, zucchini, parmigiano, tonnarelli. For the dessert, we got ricotta semifreddo and it was amazing. They also provided the mango sorbet along with it as a complimentary item. Dessert was the top most highlight and kiwi was presented in a really unique way. Overall very good experience and would recommend trying this place for specific occasion. Two people cheque can easily go to $100. Parking is available as some street Parking in downtown area or free parking lot just behind the ramen place which is in front of it.

Went to Il Brutto and Allie is genuinely one of the most impressive mixologists I've come across. She knows every bottle behind that bar, the history behind it, how it's made, what pairs well with what -- all of it. Every drink recommendation was spot on and every pairing somehow made the food even better. Nothing felt random or scripted, you can tell she actually has a deep knowledge and passion for what she does. Rare to meet someone that good at their craft while also making the whole experience feel effortless. If you go, trust her recommendations completely.

Great happy hour at bar - 4-6 during the week I believe and pastas and pizzas are $15!!! Drinks are also half off!! We tried the cacio peppe pasta, lamb ragú, and the agnolotti and the heirloom tomatoes The tomatoes were delicious - such a great starter! We added some flatbread for it but not super necessary for an extra $10... The lamb ragú and the agnolotti were our favorites - the cacio pepe was still great but did not stand out as much as the others. I also ordered the mezcal rosita - very strong drink - good Smokey flavors but would prefer if it was a little sweeter to balance it out. Service was good at the bar since there were two bartenders helping everyone out. Beautiful indoor space and outdoor space under a huge tree! Street parking is probably your best bet here too since it's off the street.

Majorly disappointed in Il Brutto. I HATE leaving bad reviews and avoid it at all costs but this place really let me down and I wish I would've known before spending $65 and being left hungry. The appetizers we got were $16 for burrata and $22 for tomatoes. Please look at my photos... those are not $16 and $22 worth appetizers. It's time to either lower the price or rework the menu. Neither of those were that good nor enough food to be worth that steep appetizer price. We got a Margherita pizza for dinner too which was fine but genuinely nothing special at all. The ambience and vibe of this place is so cute so it's disappointing that the food is beyond mediocre and overpriced :(

My friends and I went to Il Brutto while we were on my besties bachelorette trip in Austin. The restaurant was packed when we got there so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation like we did especially if you have a group. They were so great about asking us if we had any dietary needs or allergies and even had separate menus for those which was so helpful since a couple of the girls are vegetarian. Our server was kind and helpful, though did not give us the suggestions that we were quite looking for. We ended up getting two appetizers for the table and an entree for each of us. For appetizers we got the Heirloom Tomatoes and the Roasted Beets. While they both tasted great, the price for both did not seem quite worth it so if I were to go back I'd probably skip the appetizers. For my main entree I got the Pappardelle Lamb Ragu which was absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend it if you are a person who likes lamb. It was decadent and flavorful and absolutely the way to go. Other favorites from the night included the Gnocchi and Agnolotti. The vibes of the restaurant are beautiful and you will definitely feel fancy while dining there.

Caught with a friend and great modern experience that had unique dishes, nothing basic. Service was quick but not rushed, we got our apps fresh and very tasty all the way through. Main we finished all the way with no leftovers. Dessert we ordered 3 but server was soo nice she got one on the house for us which was great. I'd go back here for any experience whether it's date night or casual. Server I forget her name but table next to us was really mean to her. She definitely kept her cool and was awesome to us. We were the engaged couple so please give her the shoutout.

Was highly excited to visit this Italian spot in East Austin but unfortunately it was just meh. We had reservations around 6pm but came earlier and they happily sat us. Service was fine. We ordered some cocktails which were ok, nothing amazing and definitely criminal at almost $20. We all ordered the gnocchi dish but what we got was not worth $30. The pasta sauce was really good but that's about it. Small portions and boring tasting gnocchi. The restaurant itself was very nice but I left hungry. That was a first.

I really enjoyed the ambience and service here. Our waitress was very attentive the whole time and gave great recommendations. I recommend this place for a girls night dinner, a date night, or a special celebration. I could tell this place places high priority on hospitality, For food, everything was really good. The heirloom tomatoes were huge and so tasty. The cacio e pepe the sauce was thick and pasta itself cooked perfectly. Unfortunately I was underworked by the pizza. One thing that isn't pictured that definitely was the star of the show- the lasagna alla bolognese. I recommended the 2 desserts we got the tiramisu and the ricotta semifreddo! Both were so good and I good balance of fresh and rich.

We arrived at around 8:55pm on a Friday night and were seated immediately. By 9:06, we already had our starter of mussels at our table. Then, not even 10 minutes later, our mains were served up. To say service was quick is an understatement. The food was absolutely delicious and the pasta tasted very fresh. With dim lighting and comfortable seating, this is a great date night spot.

I had a great time with my family at Il Brito. The Hugo Spritz was perfect as were the vegetarian pizza options. I had a vegetarian pasta and my daughter had the gnocchi - both cooked to perfection. I'd say the prices were on the high side for the portion sizes and we had to pay extra did the bread. The patio was well lit and comfortable. The staff brought water for the dogs. I'd rate the place high for food and ambience but lower for service. They seemed to be understaffed and not paying much attention to refilling our water or drinks.

Stopped by on New Year's Eve evening for some drinks and appetizers. I was looking for somewhere that had espresso so I could stay up, lol. It's pricey, but the food quality and presentation are impeccable. The Heirloom Tomato ($20) featured beautifully sliced tomatoes atop a bed of burrata and savory pesto. We sat on the patio, which was beautifully lit and equipped with heaters and blankets for the cold weather. We definitely want to come back and try the pizza :) I wish we got our waiter's name because he was wonderful!

Do they have a na beer option?

They don't but they can make moctails.

    Is the outdoor seating heated?

Not when I was there, no.

What's the recommended attire (if there is one)?

I don't think they're that stuffy about it. I've had brunch there right after a workout and no one batted an eye. At night, it is a bit more dark and intimate, so you could dress up, but it's a personal preference!

    Is the patio dog friendly?

Hi Desiree, Yes! Our patio is very dog friendly and we would love to meet your pup(s)!

Where's the best place to park?

There's a parking garage just east of it. Otherwise take an Uber

Are there heaters outside on the patio?

    Yes!!!!!!

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. After finally being greeted, we were told our section wasn't ready, the other party hadn't left yet. The server / hostess seemed frazzled and kept running around trying to get us a section and talking to people about leaving. We stood there waiting for about 30 minutes. Then we were finally seated in a section barely big enough for 6, we were crammed in like sardines, sweatin. We asked the parties next to us if they could push over a bit so we all could fit, luckily they were friendly and accommodating. We were greeted not too long after being seated, Our order was taken by the first server, It took about 30 minutes for drinks and food to start to come out. The birthday girl ordered a hookah and it took an hour and a half for it to come out.
