The food was very good. There were six of us and everyone commented on their meals in a positive way. We had two appetizers, calamari and a beat salad which we all shared. The complementary bread was somewhat lacking. Being Italian myself I found it just OK. We all had drinks and although I ordered two different speciality drinks, both were the same. I think our waitress got confused. She seemed to be having trouble with the tablet or she was new and was just figuring it out. The service was a little slow with me asking for a water refill and the waitress returning to fill only one of our group's glass. LOL. The inside was nice and it had a comfortable feel. Every Saturday and Sunday from 11am - 3pm, you can order UNLIMITED amounts of whatever food items your heart craves for only $38/person. What's better... Very different than I've had this dish anywhere else. Typically it's more of a sage infused glaze. My friend and I met for a leisurely Tuesday night dinner. I made reservations, but it turns out I didn't need them as it wasn't busy. There was plenty of parking available behind the restaurant. Happy hour was still going, so we both got a Spritz. I started with the whipped burrata and beet salad. It was a little bland and needed some acid and salt. My chicken piccata was really good though. The servings are very generous. My friend got the chicken Parmesan. They make the pasta in house and she said it was very well done. Our server was attentive and made good suggestions. "Unfortunate" is probably the best way to sum up our experience at Juliet's. When we arrived we were very pleased to see they offer free valet parking. After giving our keys away we walked into what is a beautiful outside area at Juliet's. It's a nice mix of feeling like you're in downtown Austin but also not. We went inside to request two seats outside and this is unfortunately where everything fell apart. After being seated all the way at the very corner of the restaurant near the entrance, we didn't receive water for 15 minutes. In fact, we had to ask for water, as well as silverware, from a person who was cleaning a table- not a waiter. We didn't order until about 30 minutes after being seated. We noticed that others around us who were dressed nicer for the occasion were receiving service but we were not (jeans and a nice top as opposed to a dressy outfit). This is less of an accusation and more of an observation. It took another waiter noticing that we had not been served to come over and take our order, and that was 5 minutes after we had to flag down a busser to ask for water. The flip side of that whole first part is that the food was pretty good. We got complimentary table bread (after we asked for it since it never came before our main meal) that was soft and went well with the olive oil it came with. For our entrees we got the shrimp scampi and chicken parm. The shrimp scampi was fantastic and light with creamy and bold flavors in-between. The chicken parm was maybe the largest chicken cutlet we've seen given out at a restaurant. Not only was the cutlet massive but it was delicious as well with a nice, light breading and cheese on top. The spaghetti alongside it was a nice touch but this was a true chicken parm entree as it should be. We were offered a complimentary dessert as an apology for the miscues before we ate but turned it down (still good of them to offer). Leaving was easy as the valet was very attentive and quick to get our car. We wish we could say our time at Juliet's was perfect because the setting and food are very nice and a fun change of pace from the surrounding blocks. However, it's difficult to overlook the mistakes made from the jump. We noticed that another table next to us was also experiencing bad service and looked unhappy enough to leave in the middle of their meal/ We're always open to having good food again so hopefully the next time we're here things are different. It's a acquaint little house converted restaurant very eclectic and great for a variety of taste. I mean it's definitely Americanized Italian to some degree but you know the meatballs were tasty. The fried calamari with jalapeños were also good perfectly cooked. I dined here this recently, and the experience had highs and lows. They had complimentary valet parking which was efficient and appreciated. As for the service, our table never received the complimentary bread nor was it ever offered. This felt like a minor oversight but nothing major. The cocktails were all excellent and did not feel light on the pours. I had the scallop entree and while the risotto was delicious, the scallops themselves did not have the best texture. The tiramisu was not anything to write home about. When it was time to pay the bill, the lowest preset tipping option was well over 20%. This was just ridiculous and disrespectful for a run-of-the-mill dinner experience. Thankfully, the kind and quick valet attendants made leaving a breeze. read more

Open table asked several times if we wanted outside or bar seating. Each time we selected "standard" which was the non-outdoor, non-bar option. On arrival we were told only bar or outside seating was available and the next available inside table was at 8, an hour and a half wait. The hostess didn't even seem apologetic and instead blamed us for failing to specify "inside" in the comments or requests, despite no way to know that was necessary. The temp outside at arrival was 100 F. We walked and will never be coming back. It's too bad, this place had special significance to us. There are just too many other good options available to accept this kind of shabby treatment, no matter what sentimental attachment exists. Good luck and hasta la vista, Juliet. I got a gluten free sausage pepperoni and mushroom pizza recommended by our waiter. My husband got the pesto Salmon. My daughter and I enjoyed lunch here on a recent Saturday. Temperatures were in the low 80s, and the AC simply felt too cold for us so we asked to be seated outdoors. We wanted to chat, but there was a DJ outside, so we requested a quiet table. We were comfortably seated at a high table near a wall that provided some shade. There was a shade sail as well, but a gap meant that, by the end of our visit, the sun made it a bit uncomfortable. The scent of nearby blooming jasmine added charm to the setting. We were served ice water and fresh bread with a good olive oil soon after being seated. The food menu was somewhat limited, but there was a rather large bar menu. My daughter selected a ravioli entrée while I chose the shrimp scampi over angel hair. The food was beautifully presented and very flavorful. The portion size was perfect for us. Service was excellent. There's a large and convenient parking lot behind the restaurant. Juliet Italian Kitchen has several Austin-area locations. Let me start with this: I had to go back and look at the menu after I got door dash from this place because I was worried I'd accidentally ordered a $25 dollar appetizer... The problem was the portion size - the $25 bought 6 pieces of rather small ravioli. I remember when I ordered this I was worried it wouldn't be enough food, but I didn't realize it would be the same portion size as my 2 year old niece usually has. This was ordered to have during a zoom meeting so I couldn't go buy more food last minute; I was still very hungry and ended up eating a bag of chips, a bag of pistachios, and a Canada Dry soda that were leftover from lunch to be sort of full. My friend also gave me a piece of her garlic bread. Again I just want to reiterate that the flavor of this dish was lovely! But the portion size was embarrassingly small, definitely should not be listed as an entree because it's misleading. The other issue is my friend had ordered pizza and they either forgot to make, or to pack her order, so she didn't have anything to eat :( And I sampled my other friend's spaghetti, it was pretty good, didn't blow my mind but it was above average I would say. Overall what I had was the tastiest thing but again the portion was just so small. I wouldn't be quite so dismayed if it were listed as an appetizer but it isn't... for these reasons I don't think I'll order from here again, but the spaghetti portions are bigger so you could try those if you wanted Italian! read more

A group of us dined at Juliet's Italian Kitchen one weekend and were pleasantly surprised. We were attending a play at the Zachary Scott Theatre and Juliet's happens to be a short distance away. The ambiance was nice and cozy, not too loud and the food very tasty. It was a busy night so the service was a bit slow and not as efficient as it could have been. I was the last one to arrive, and sat for maybe 10 minutes before I even got water and placed my drink order. They do bring bread for the table and olive oil and it is delicious! There are gluten free options for any of the pastas which I took advantage of. I ordered the Mushroom Fettuccine Fungi and liked it fine. Our table had a varied assortment of selections including pizza, salads and the Chicken Picatta. Everyone was satisfied with their food. Whether booking standard parties easily through Open Table online, or emailing guest services for larger celebrations at one of their three locations, there's ample seating indoors and out, with gracious hosts and servers galore. Jersey was incredibly thoughtful during our 2x40 birthday, offering kind recommendations and double desserts. House-made pastas are comforting and sized for sharing (lasagna recommended!), but my favorites were the crisply fried Calamari (buttery, delicate) and traditional Meatballs in an exceptional house marinara. We held a private event in their front Calabria Room. It can fit 15 comfortably. The room is surrounded by a lovely mural of Austin landmarks on one wall and the rest lined with windows to people watch on Barton Springs road. Their events team was so flexible with our menu requests and held a seamless event for us. The appetizers were served family style and very plentiful and filling. Both salads were great, but I think the Butter Lettuce was my fav. For my entree the staff had highly recommended the Slow Braided Lamb Ragu. I just had to give it a try as I LOVE lamb. The lamb flavor was not very overpowering if you are not a huge lamb fan and the noodles were AMAZING! Large portion as well. Everyones entrees were rather large. For dessert I went with the Tirumisu. It was light and perfect. The staff was very attentive as well. I chose the chicken funghi, which was ginormous. We enjoyed three desserts, which all could be shared since we were stuffed silly. My favorite was the tiramisu. The service was excellent. We went to Juliet Kitchen Downtown for my birthday brunch, which also happened to be Derby Day, and unfortunately it was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time. After being seated, we waited nearly 20 minutes without receiving menus. Our server came by to ask for drink orders, but we still had no menus to even look at. She still didn't bring them, so I eventually had to walk up to the host stand myself to ask for menus. Once I brought them back to the table and we started reviewing them, the server later returned only to tell us they were the wrong menus and that we actually needed the brunch menus instead. To make matters worse, the bartender didn't know how to make a Mint Julep -- on Derby Day, when they were supposedly preparing for a Derby party later that day. Our drinks took around 35 minutes to arrive, and we were almost there for an hour before food finally came out. By that point, several people in our party decided not to order food at all because the experience had already been so disappointing. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of management involvement. No manager ever came by to check on our table, apologize for the delays, or offer anything while we waited so long. It's especially disappointing because their brunch used to be great, and we had enjoyed coming here in the past. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be returning. read more

Arriving at Juliet on an night hotter than a stolen serrano, we are soothed by a verdant garden and bubbling fountain. Inside is a space that is cool in temperature but warm with earth tones and a whimsical mix of representational art from classical drawings to a surrealistic montage of plates featuring eyes and torsos (beware, as those eyes greet you from the ceiling in the restrooms like silent voyeurs.) I like restaurants with enough sass to display challenging works of art. We are promptly seated and our charming waiter Brooke (with a voice and looks that could make her Jennifer Lawrence's sister) deftly answered our questions and made recommendations when asked. My wife chooses a frozen rose cocktail that makes her forget the heat outside and I opt for a non-alcoholic Peroni Pilsner. Fluffy slices of thick Focaccia bread and olive oil for dipping are gratis. Defying the heat outside, my wife orders the lasagna with Bolognese sauce that is hearty enough for the cast of a spaghetti western. I chose the Fruitti di Mari, fettucinne noodles coated in a lemon cream sauce of proper consistency, unlike the gloppy thickness that too often mars this type of dish. The Mari consists of chunks of what the menu says is Redfish but is in fact, salmon (no worry since the salmon works so well,) tail on shrimp and tiny clams and mussels in the shell. Spinach and diced tomatoes add a nice touch of color and a table side grating of fresh parmesan will make you glad you saved some focaccia to sop up the remnants. Since it is my wife's birthday, out came the Tiramisu with a single burning candle to mark the occasion. Honestly it is perhaps the best Tiramisu I have tasted: creamy and moist with a hint of Frangelico and restrained use of sugar that is the mark of a superior pastry chef. I sometimes assume the role of a curmudgeonly diner. Juliette changed the script and created a Romeo swooning for another visit. read more

My DIL visits Austin twice a year and has had this place on her list to try. What a delightful experience. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant. As you walk in from that lot you'll notice there's plenty of outdoor seating. Austin was at the end of a cold spell so we sat inside. The waiter did not introduce himself with his name but he was very friendly. We were served a round of focaccia with olive oil on the side. A second round was served as we had a 17 month old with us who found the focaccia to be to her liking. The table ordered chicken parm, Italian Sausage Ravioli and a sausage, pepperoni & mushroom pizza. Everyone was pleased with their meal. I tasted everything and it was all done very well. I really enjoyed my entree, the ravioli. They're stuffed with cheese and served with a crispy sausage topping. My only complaint is that there weren't more because they were that good.
